If we can’t strip citizenship from those who weren’t born with it, how are we going to slide down that slope to stripping at a bureaucrat’s whim citizenship from anyone?

One of the “little wrinkles” to this issue that I haven’t seen discussed – Many countries require their citizens to formally renounce citizenship when they take up citizenship in another country. In many cases, when they become US citizens they have to renounce citizenship from their former nationality. So in a number of cases when the US somewhere down the road strips a person of citizenship they end up being stateless. If the US deports them they can’t just automatically go back where they came from.
