In California, Tulelake High School Principal Dean Teig resigned following reports he shot at students with a BB gun at an off-campus celebration for seniors. Some students drenched Teig with water. He left the event and changed his clothes and returned with a BB gun. A police investigation later found no evidence Teig actually tried to shoot anyone.

On Saturday, Tulelake Police Chief Tony Ross said there was no evidence of criminal wrongdoing and the event was "nothing more than a simple prank gone wrong."

The alleged victim also said he does not wish to pursue charges, as he does not believe Teig was trying to harm anyone.

Sounds much more like Mayberry than any place I can imagine today. What a missed opportunity to impress upon the peons peasants populace how petulant powerful the local thugs police thugs are.

Wait - a BB gun in California? In a scenario vaguely related to a function with a relationship to a school? How can this be?
There are so many unanswered questions. Did he have a permit? Had he paid the taxes on the gun and the BBs? Did he go through hours of state mandated training? Was the background check through enough?

Most importantly: Did he resign in disgust over the whole inappropriate blow up in the media?!!
