Make Your Commute Great Again! Subscribe To the Reason Podcast!
Monday's coming. Make the work week bearable with podcasts featuring Bjorn Lomborg, P.J. O'Rourke, Camille Paglia, Tyler Cowen, Laura Kipnis, and more.
Since October, the Reason Podcast has been delivering an info-rich, provocative, and totally free stream of the best libertarian conversation about politics, culture, and ideas. Every Monday, Reason's Katherine Mangu-Ward, Matt Welch, and I discuss and deconstruct the week's top stories and most ridiculous outrages, all from the point of view of what's best for "free minds and free markets." Throughout the course of the week, we put out two to four more podcasts delivered directly to your phone, tablet, or computer.
If you want to know what's coming next in the worlds of tech and innovation, check out episodes such as Jim Epstein's talk with Bill Barhydt, the founder and CEO of Abra, which offers a simple way to send money anywhere in the world using a smart phone. All without any interference by any government.
And check out Katherine Mangu-Ward's Q&A with Josh Chafetz, the Cornell Law prof whose Congress's Constitution, a 500-page academic tome that argues the imperial presidency and has captured the imagination of readers, politicians, and celebrities alike (Alyssa Milano, notes Mangu-Ward, tweeted that she wants to buy a copy for every member of Congress).
"Skeptical Environmentalist" Bjorn Lomborg on why Trump was right to pull out of the Paris climate deal? Check. P.J. O'Rourke on why he's worried by Trump's populism and wants his kids to study English and the liberal arts in college? Sure. A no-holds-barred, spirited, good-faith debate about whether colleges are racist? Here you go. A conversation with the father-daughter team behind a pelvic-floor exerciser and female-orgasm machine that gives women more control over their bodies? What part of "free minds and free markets" don't you understand?
The Reason Podcast archive page is here. You can also subscribe and listen at SoundCloud and iTunes (rate and review while you're there; it helps us reach more people).

From last week, Matt Welch, Katherine Mangu-Ward, and I talk about foreign policy, body-slamming pols, continuing TSA stupidity, and more.

Now you're approvingly retweeting jihadi sympathizers, Gillespie?
You are one sorry-ass motherfucker dude. You truly make me sick.
Mikey, that's nothing compared to your rep here.
I'm never apologizing for loving America and the enlightened west so much. Some people apparently think it's hip, cool, and virtuous to love our haters and enemies more.
I stand by my opinion that it's absolutely fucking pathetic.
Henry Fonda and John Wayne cannot both be wrong;
"Never apologize, Mister. It's a sign of weakness".
In other news, Simple Mikey has suddenly become a huge fan of Bill Maher.

Well, we can see that self-righteousness isn't fatal.
The jovial jihadi: How killer father-of-two tricked his neighbours into thinking he was a 'nice guy' by playing football with children while secretly harbouring a destructive hatred and frequently changing his appearance.
This is what we and everyone in the west is up against, folks. You know what, anyone who actually believes any of the bullcrap that comes from these barbaric psychopaths is so fucking stupid that they ALMOST deserve whatever ends up happening to them.
Sure, DD, and it is also frequently the case that if you interview the neighbors of serial killers shortly after their crimes, the neighbors will often say "he seemed like such a nice guy". That doesn't mean that everyone with a middle name of Wayne should now suddenly be banned from entering the country, or placed under government surveillance. See the difference?
Another way to put it:
The Muslim holy book says: Kill the infidels!
Nearly 1.6 billion Muslims say: nah
A FEW say: sure!
Then, when the inevitable happens, DD says: SEE? SEE? IT'S JUST PROOF THAT MUSLIMS ARE BLOODTHIRSTY KILLERS
This is what's known as a "logical fallacy"
"This is what's known as a "logical fallacy""
The temptation is to ignore the logic and go with emoting, in my case heightened by my distain for religion in general.
But that huge number that isn't killing the infidels says that most of them ain't buying it, even if the women wear rags on their heads and the guys get on their knees 5 times a day.
That's their problem(s), and I still stand a better chance of dying in the bathtub than being killed by some muzzy fundy.
Letting that fear run our lives gives us the worst of Trump and TSA; too much to pay.
No thanks. On the three days a week I have to visit the office my round trip is a bit less than 5 miles. The local rush hour is noon to 12:15. I gave up on cities a loooooong time ago.
I know where I'd go for advice concerning foot-in-mouth disease!

my commute has been great again since I found Jordan Peterson. Currently listening to his 2017 class on personality

"A pro-Donald Trump free speech rally organized by a conservative group has begun. Kyle Chapman, the speaker for the planned event, told media earlier Sunday that it's good to see people "uniting under the banner of American nationalism."
Meanwhile, a number of community groups have organized counter demonstrations to rally against hate and racism."

It's AP, so the lies are inherent, but, no the counter demonstrations were not opposing "hate and racism". They were opposing free speech.
You'd think a supposed 'news organization' would support free speech, wouldn't you?
no. those fucks have literally said freedom of "the press" applies only to them and not everyone else outside their little bubble
You're right. It has become a government-granted "right" reserved for those who have the correct opinions.
