Should We Even Care About Trump Scandals and Russia? Michael Moynihan and Thad Russell Duke it Out on The Fifth Column
Seditionists quarrel over rumormongering, leaks, abuse of power, deportations, and NATO.

It is an established thing that beloved Reason-family commentators Michael C. Moynihan and Thaddeus Russell do not exactly agree on issues of foreign policy, and are generally not go-along-to-get-along types. And so, after some understandable crowing over Kmele Foster's crushing victory at this week's Soho Forum debate on campus racism, The Fifth Column podcast pivoted into some meta-snarling over whether we're all just adding to the stupid and diverting attention from more important issues by yakking nonstop on all things Trump, Comey, and Russia. Along the way we get into some fruitful discussion on post-Trump Trumpism, the potency of anti-media sentiment, and (of course!) NATO expansion. You can listen to the teetotaling irritability here:

It did not go well, which is a shame because it's an interesting topic that didn't have to be bogged down by petty nonsense like admissions or semantics.
Or at least it did not go well for too long of a stretch.
Someone has to take those dicks in hand and slap them around a bit.
Sparky, Unorthodox Fluffer.
It's not a "shame," it's just a missed opportunity, idiot. Get your head outta your ass!
It's regrettable, stupid-face.
Is Foster saying the n-word on the bingo card?
i've been listening to both of these people yap for years and i never picked up on some major point of disagreement. Is it something to do with NATO and Europe? I have some vague recollection that Matt and Mike, perhaps because of their european-significant-others, tend to believe that security-obligations for the continent are not to be lightly dismissed, or something like that. Could be wildly wrong.
no excuse. Drunk Mike accents and the buddy banter are part of the core-value-proposition.
or proof that debate-audiences are hopelessly racist. formats and venues are problematic and shit.
Well not until we clear this Benghazi thing up, for sure.
I really don't understand why the FBI needs to tell the DNC that they need more internet security than a 2005 Norton Antivirus CD.
You know: for the sake of democracy and all that.

re: Moynihan and "repercussions" for getting stories wrong
I think there's only ever "holding journalism responsible" when the media outlets police each other.
With trump in office, no one is going to police the other for getting shit wrong. Short of some 'Aluminum tubes' type thing.
I mean, look at how no one said shit about the WaPo's "Russians hacked the energy grid" story except for Glenn Greenwald. It was one of the most epic-retarded things since Orson Welles "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast, and everyone simply pretended nothing happened and moved on. Or how CNN had Donna Brazille on staff and pretended to be surprised there was collusion between the Clinton campaign and themselves. And on and on. The standards have fallen into the gutter and everyone still pretends they're classy truth-to-power speakers who deserve fancy dinners celebrating themselves, and get angry when the president doesn't treat them seriously.
basically, i see fewer and fewer repercussions for 'getting shit wrong'. Which is why i assume that the current stories based on anonymous leaks are all completely subjective horseshit being spun to reinforce a pre-existing narrative.
No. They're not real.
Man, these are easy.
Unfortunately, Kmele's anecdote/assertion about degree completion rates don't hold up to scrutiny, oh well, I still hope he wins in 2020.
Do tell?
The data point provided RE 'medical school admissions rates' are easy to confirm, and the more general assertion I made are easily defended (black students receive preference in admissions and they are the beneficiaries, focus of diversity and ethnic studies programming).
What am I overlooking, overstating?

Whoa guys, can we at least agree the capitol of France is Paris?
Matt seems to think the SoHo Forum debate audience doesn't sandbag the polling. What won't you believe Matt?.
