Russia Investigation Identifies Current White House Official, Trump Bragged About Firing 'Nut Job' James Comey
"That's taken off," Trump told the Russians. "I'm not under investigation."

Authorities investigating potential ties between the Donald Trump presidential campaign and the Russian government have identified a current White House official as a "person of interest" in the case, according to The Washington Post.
This person is a senior advisor who is "close to the president," sources said.
Investigators are still interested in former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, but they are now focused on someone who is actually still involved with Trump.
The Post reports:
While the case began quietly last July as an effort to determine whether any Trump associates coordinated with Russian operatives to meddle in the presidential election campaign, the investigative work now being done by the FBI also includes determining whether any financial crimes were committed by people close to the president. The people familiar with the matter said the probe has sharpened into something more fraught for the White House, the FBI and the Justice Department — particularly because of the public steps investigators know they now need to take, the people said.
That's not the only bad news for Trump. The New York Times reported that Trump actually boasted to Russian officials about firing former FBI Director James Comey:
"I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job," Mr. Trump said, according to the document, which was read to The New York Times by an American official. "I faced great pressure because of Russia. That's taken off."
Mr. Trump added, "I'm not under investigation."
Neither of these developments confirm any sort of official cooperation between Trump and Russia. But they come at the end of perhaps the worst week of the Trump presidency thus far. The president is certainly putting a lot of effort into appearing like an incompetent stooge—as well as giving ammuntion to those who think he committed obstruction of justice, at the very least.

From the Times story:
Sean has obviously fallen for yet another fake news hoax.
Woah- if they're not denying it then that changes everything. I don't know how he can defend such a statement
It doesn't mean Trump is a Russian stooge, of course, it just means what we all know: that Trump is a blithering dingbat who feels the need to brag about himself.
Maybe he isn't a Russian stooge (I still think that's far fetched), but maybe some of his people had questionable relationships that he is aware of and doesn't want it exposed (that's what brought down Nixon). I am not a Russia conspiracy guy and I'm frequently derailed as a 'Yokel' or 'Trump supporter' on here, but that is a damning admission right there.
What the hell kind of Republican are you Crusty?
Can you leave, DanO? There are grown-ups talking
All I see are parrots.

Very good approach.
I sincerely doubt that anyone else in the world refers to your pudendum as "parrots".
Yeah, I am inclined to think it is like Wikileaks and how Trump had nothing to do with it but kept wishing them to keep leaking Hillary's inside stuff. Maybe Russia preferred Trump and did some mischief , but it does not mean Trump solicited or even cooperated with them on it. Not to mention it probably did not sway the election to the extent Hillary's supporters lke to claim. Maybe he welcomed it without cooperating like a stroke of luck. It is possible he has people on his team that engaged in questionable dealings and that is a problem. The guy is supposedly a top notch businessman with a lot of lawyers. if he is going to dissect Hillary's emails being on a private server instead of a government server without saying if Hillary actually lost some classified info to hackers or dissect Obama's birth Cert and nitpick whatever BC he produced, then he should be prepared to face the same kind of nitpicky attacks on his team's dealings which are actually of importance.
It would be pretty hard to deny it since its a direct quote out of the White House's official summary of the meeting. How stupid are the people working for him that they actually put that quote in there.
Denying what?
"I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job,"
That's pretty awesome though.
I would not use "nutjob" to label Comey myself. Comey was incompetent though to publicly say that Hillary violated federal law for mishandling classified information but "no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case".
It was not up to him on what a prosecutor would or would not do. The FBI investigates and makes recommendations for probable cause to indict people.
After they were certain what Comey would do, AG Lynch punted the decision to Comey. In this case, the decision was his. Remember the tarmac meeting with Bill? This was her deflect move from that heat.
No, it was then the responsibility of the deputy attorney general. Comey should not have made a recommendation. This is not the job of the FBI. We don't have police making criminal cases. They just gather the evidence
"I would not use "nutjob" to label Comey myself."
One of the reasons you're not president.
Maybe Trump knows something about Comey that we don't and "nutjob" is appropriate.
He's a billionaire from Queens, it's always appropriate for him to name-call.
And maybe the moon is made of cheese.
That's not incompetent. That's prudent. Piss off Hillary enough, and you wind up face down in the river.
I'll wait to see actual docs from sources who can be questioned.
Come on... how much more proof do you need?
Trump's White House is leaking like a sieve. Happy people don't do this. They hate the boss. And who can blame them? The guy's a mental case.
Glass houses, etc., etc.
I'm not the president. Try to do better.
I'll do better. You have blinders on about your guys. I could list a whole host of ways in which Obama was shady as hell. And Hillary is a multiple felon who happened to have a corrupt DoJ that refused to prosecute. Harry Reid is a walking sack of excrement who leaves a slime trail everywhere he goes, and Pelosi is either senile or just plain stupid.
Sure, Trump may be bombastic, but he'd be in good company if your statement about his mental capacity was based on anything but media distortions.
Not every president can be surrounded by a cadre of sycophants, blind worshipers, and lobbyists. In fact, we kind of elected Trump because he isn't.
But if reason had high standards like that it would be way too interesting, and more people might make it the first thing they wanted to read every day.
Then they'd need to buy more servers to handle the load.
Best to stay the way they are.
That way they have time to die their hair magenta and appear on Kennedy.
He was crazy, a real nut job
That's a hell of an employment reference right there.
It worked for Kellyanne Conway.
Any chance we will ever get a scoop with someone actually on the record or is 'news' now just rumors? Sorry, if I don't trust the NYT or WaPo any more than the current administration
The media cannot produce what the media does not have.
"The media" could write that the sun sets in the west and you imbecile-parrots would squawk FAKE NEWS!
Right, but if they wrote that an anonymous source told them over the phone that the sun sets in the west it's literally fake and not really news.
Dude, you're tragically dumb.
^ Psychological projection.

DanO. Is that you Bradley Manning?
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
> "The media" could write that the sun sets in the west and you imbecile-parrots would squawk FAKE NEWS!
Get with the program. There is no truly reliable source anymore. The best anyone can do is just read several accounts and judge for themselves. And the mainstream media have only themselves to blame for their approval ratings, which are going head-to-head with cancer of late.
How did you guess? Indeed, at this point, I wouldn't believe the NYT, MSNBC, or CNN if they claimed that water was wet.
So.. you mean like Deep Throat? That took what, four decades, for that source to be revealed?
Deep Throat provided more than hearsay. There was actual evidence being reported
Deep Throat is DanO.'s nickname since ...
Well, it has always been his nickname and is well apropos now.
but they are now focused on someone who is actually still involved with Trump.
My guess is that Assistant Chief of Staff Boris Badenov is in real trouble right about now.
Still no corroborated evidence of wrongdoing. Lots of people, inside and outside Trump's circle, seem to want him dead though. Politically, that is.
Shit, the independent counsel has been on the job for one whole day!
WHERE'S THE EVIDENCE DAMMIT?!
[waits for the stalkers...]
The Russian investigation has been going on for almost an year now.
Exactly. If there were any substantive evidence, the Democrats would have shot a load and handed it to the NYT or WaPo. They don't have jack shit.
Yep.
As I recall, the latest "news" made a claim that '18 people associated with Trump spoke with Russians associated with The Kremlin'!!!!!
And that was actually reported as "news"; the DanOs of the world creamed their jeans, and the rest of the world checked the ball scores and the weather.
Regardless of "X contacts", please tell me why they should not have been in contact, and further, WIH any of this had to do with the election (which is where this all started before wandering off into whether Trump's hair dresser knew Elvis' Russian love child)
exactly. and if any evidence is turned up by the independent counsel it is more likely to be about how Donna Brazille had Seth Rich murdered or how Bill Clinton took Russian money.
Then why are you saying he's guilty? A prudent person would wait until something factual actually came to light. That's what I'm doing. Be more like me and less like you and you might actually become a better person.
One of the things Trump learned during his campaign is that the more outrageous his comments, the louder the cheers of the crowd. Stealing from Gladiator:
I think Trump knows what America is. America is the mob. Conjure magic for them and they'll be distracted. Take away their freedom and still they'll roar. The beating heart of America is not the marble of the senate, it's the sand of fake news else. He'll bring them death - and they will love him for it.

I would willingly divert the sum of my annual withholdings from the US government to Comcast if they bring us a Trump v. Mattic deathmatch.
Trump v. Mattis that is.
Well he IS a WWE superstar...
Unlike Europe. Europe is sensible government and restrained, educated citizenry. Just look at the entire 20th century!
I don't like Trump.
Someone said they heard someone say they heard someone say something negative about Trump.
Therefore, it must be true.
FAKE NEWS!
SQUAWK!

S=C, did you just hear a parrot?
> FAKE NEWS! SQUAWK!
You've said that multiple times now.
I don't post here very often. But, while I have noticed that you do occasionally make fair points, the other posters I've seen here are interacting on a much higher level. I'm not saying this to be condescending, truly I'm not. It's just an observation and you can take it however you like
DanO. is a troll; no more, and you can't get less.
His only "points" are his continuing grief that the idiot Trump beat the crooked and slimy Clinton for the presidency, and his fantasy that people here are Trump supporters rather than those who love to laugh at losers like DanO.
Wait.... This place is for Trump supporters? Thanks, DanO, for opening my eyes! I didn't realize I was cavorting with enemies!
Yeah, I see a lot of media talking about "perhaps the worst week of the Trump presidency thus far".
The general public, by the Gallup daily tracking numbers, is rather less impressed. He's been down to 38% approval, which is to say, just a little below average in a Presidency that's spent all its time in the 35-45% range. And he's up to 56% disapproval, which is to say, just a little above average in a Presidency that's spent all its time after the first week in the 49-59% range.
If every week is the worst, well, none of them are.
Oh! The humanity! The sky is falling .... Trump is a Manchurian Candidate. Doesn't he need to be executed, just like Julius Rosenberg? I think I'm going to die laughing.
Anthony Weiner made the news today, and when he was in hot waters the media already had pics and texts. Or he got in trouble because the pics and texts leaked.
It's hard for me to believe that in this era of social media and sophisticated hacks, neither the FBI nor outside sources have disclosed any information pertaining to this investigation. The FBI will naturally insist they can't reveal "classified" info or ongoing endeavors but, you're telling me someone like Assange can't leak emails or recordings of election meddlings and "financial crimes"? Someone leaked Trump's only like a month ago and Maddot received it.
You're telling a man who says to a FBI director "Can you lay off my friend because he's a good guy" is Heisenberg-esque mastermind who deleted every paper trail, quid pro quo arrangements, first hand eyewitness accounts, and anything else that's necessary to prove obstruction charges? Not only on his end, but from everyone else who worked for him?
Everyone says there was election meddling. Where..... is the evidence? For me, this is becoming something like Jackie fiasco where some people felt duty bound to BELIEVE certain details despite no publicly known evidence.
The New York Times? I'm going to take the New York Times seriously. OMG.
Why would one quote The Washington Post as if it were a news source?
Weren't its anonymously sourced stories shown to be false last week every day about a day after they were run?
Hasn't Mollie Hemingway at The Federalist exposed this in her coverage every day?
Yeah, I get a kick out of Robbie The Robot calling Trump a stooge in an article where he cuts and pastes from NYT and WaPo.
The anti-Trumps are cackling out here the way they did before the election. They seem to think that one more punch will destroy the man. The pro-Ts are keeping their heads down, but they are itching to destroy somebody when they get the chance.
??????O Im making over $13k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life.last month her pay check was $12712 just working on the laptop for a few hours. This is what I do.

""I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job," Mr. Trump said,"
Oh WOW! There's an impeachable offense right there. Trump saying he fired an incompetent office holder.
And laughing about it. High crime and misdemeanor right there!
Trump's digging his own grave, impeachment right around the corner. Hillary is packing her bags ready to move into the White House.
Oh wait, if Trump is impeached VP Mike Pense becomes President. Crap, now we have to impeach him too. Hmmm, Pense uses soy milk on his corn flakes and wears mismatched socks, clearly criminal behavior.
Pence does something MUCH WORSE: as a married man, he doesn't go on 1-1 dinners with women. Obviously, that violates the civil rights of women!
Only sociopaths use soy milk. The truly enlightened use coconut milk or almond milk.
Coconut milk is a real thing. Almond milk notsomuch.
