The New York Times reported Tuesday evening that a memo from newly unemployed FBI Director James Comey claims President Trump asked him, in private, to drop an investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. A statement from the White House disputed this: While the President has repeatedly expressed his view that General Flynn is a decent man who served and protected our country, the President has never asked Mr. Comey or anyone else to end any investigation, including any investigation involving General Flynn. The President has the utmost respect for our law enforcement agencies, and all investigations. This is not a truthful or accurate portrayal of the conversation between the President and Mr. Comey.

  • The classified info that Trump may have revealed to visiting Russian officials last week was allegedly provided by Israel. Russian President Vladimir Putin has volunteered to provide U.S. lawmakers with a record of the meeting.
  • Northwestern University scientists say their 3D-printed ovaries are a success in mice.
  • Chelsea Manning was released from military prison this morning, after serving seven years of the 35-year sentence she received for leaking government documents to WikiLeaks. Barack Obama commuted her sentence before leaving office in January.

Chelsea Manning was released from military prison this morning…

On the plus side to the release, news stories will finally be able to use a different picture of Manning’s current iteration.

    1. DanO.   8 years ago

Do we really want to experience that? Once seen, never unseen.

      1. gaoxiaen   8 years ago

It can be ameliorated by Eyebleach.

Northwestern University scientists say their 3D-printed ovaries are a success in mice.

WHY DO SCIENTISTS SPEND SO MUCH TIME FIXING MICE? DON’T HUMAN BEINGS HAVE PROBLEMS, TOO?

    1. gaoxiaen   8 years ago

Not only that, many mice are genetically designed to be broken. It’s a racket, I tell ya.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has volunteered to provide U.S. lawmakers with a record of the meeting.

Naked women are going clubbing wearing nothing but tape

According to the Post he charges up to $1,000 for private taping sessions, which include a sexy photo shoot.

Women ? from what it looks like mostly firm-bodied models and dancers ? wait in line in clubs for their turn with him.

He also charges $55,000 for a live performance, according to the Post, but thousands of people also watch him work on videos he posts on social media

    There goes my hero…

    1. $park? leftist poser   8 years ago

“Apparently women clubbing only in duct tape is a thing now,” sniffed British Esquire. “You’ll all catch colds. Heed our words.”

Not surprising that a magazine named British Esquire wouldn’t know the difference between electrical tape and duct tape.

      1. lap83   8 years ago

Or that it’s actually “duck tape”

…a memo from newly unemployed FBI Director James Comey claims President Trump asked him, in private, to drop an investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

It’s just entertainment, which is why I preferred Trump over Clinton, though I didn’t vote. Living overseas, voting is a big hassle that results in getting a ballot a week or two after the election. I suspect that’s because I’m registered Libertarian.

          1. gaoxiaen   8 years ago

Be that as it may, I would have voted for Clinton if I knew that Sessions was going to be AG.

You Will Feel Unclean Watching This Video of Bee Sex

In the video, the male bee?which has the freakishly long antennae?strokes the female with his feely-things in an effort to put her in the mood. The most striking aspect is how graphic it is, for a video of two bees doing it.

    I’ll be in my hive.

Duckling ramps installed at Capitol Reflecting Pool

Ducklings now have an easier time climbing in and out of the U.S. Capitol Reflecting Pool thanks to special ramps created for water fowl of all types and ages.

The ramps, according to the Architect of the Capitol’s blog, were designed with the help of a D.C. wildlife rehabilitation group.

City Wildlife helped the Capitol’s grounds crew understand the needs of the ducklings and provided advice about the best way to build the ramps to help the birds navigate up and over the reflecting pool’s roughly 2-foot-high ledge.

“Awesome. That is beautiful, I think that is necessary. I’m glad (City Wildlife) participated,” said Cory Davis of Oxon Hill, Maryland.

    SNOWFLAKES!!!

Oxon Hill is in PG County. Not exactly a bastion of libertarians. Most likely he works for the government and sees this as an opening for his pet project, Making Ladders for Squirrels in the DC cherry trees.

I stand with National Review: On Drugs, It’s Back to War

To believe, as we long have, that the decriminalization of some drugs is preferable to the prohibition of them is not to adopt a stance of moral neutrality on the issue of drug abuse and drug addiction. It is instead a concession to reality, which even politicians must take into account from time to time. The reality is that drug prohibition has not produced the desired results; that it is not an effective means of managing drug abuse or drug addiction; that it creates enormously powerful economic incentives for domestic trafficking operations and allied cartels abroad; that incarceration is in many cases not the best way to turn a drug user or drug dealer into a citizen; that the human and financial costs of fighting a “war” on drugs are enormous, and that the martial rhetoric and assumptions associated with that effort are a menace to privacy and civil liberties; that fighting drug crime has become a ready excuse for police and prosecutors to abuse tools such as civil-asset forfeiture; that our focus on winning the so-called war distracts us from the much more important business of winning the peace by helping addicts and offenders reenter society as productive and valued citizens.

    1. Rhywun   8 years ago

That has got to be a lonely fight on their side of the aisle.

      1. gaoxiaen   8 years ago

I remember an issue of NR that had the headline, “Will the Reagan Administration OD on the War on Drugs?” I have it here somewhere. Barry Goldwater’s Time Magazine obituary is tucked inside.

Trump repeals Obamacare and look what happens. I’m sure you’re real happy now, ain’t ya, ya sick bastards.

  21. Bubba Jones   8 years ago

I agree that Trump shouldn’t have spoken with Comeu about this.

But there is no actionable evidence here. If Comey believed this were illegal he would have been forced to act upon it. He didn’t. So, the only remedies here are political. Good luck with that.

WHATABOUT Obama “asking” the IRS to persecute the tea party? I think the precedents show a pretty high bar for legal action.

  22. Ken Shultz   8 years ago

Everything the left and the press do to Trump that doesn’t kill him will only make him stronger–if they impeach him and he survives the vote, the chances of his being reelected will increase dramatically.

Even I’m starting to think he must be doing something right–if all these assholes in both parties despise him.

I assumed he would face significant Republican challengers in the primaries come 2020–but I’m starting to doubt that. The more the press and left go after him, the more the Republican base will see him as their champion against the elitist left.

As bad as Trump’s approval ratings are (around 40%), they’re still above the press’ (32%) and Congress’ (20%). If they actually impeach Trump over this, he’ll become even more formidable.

    1. Crusty Juggler aka "Chad"   8 years ago

Even I’m starting to think he must be doing something right

He has slashed the budget, ended Obama’s stupid wars, and repealed Obamacare!

      1. Ken Shultz   8 years ago

You need to work on your reading comprehension.

“Even I’m starting to think he must be doing something right–if all these assholes in both parties despise him.”

I put that terms even you should be able to understand.

        1. $park? leftist poser   8 years ago

But you buried it in a 30 page dissertation.

        2. Crusty Juggler aka "Chad"   8 years ago

So, he has accomplished the epic feat of continuing to piss everyone off?

          1. Citizen X - #6   8 years ago

This is going on, what, thirty years now?

          2. Ken Shultz   8 years ago

If the neocons hate him for trying to work with Russia on Syria–making a Syrian intervention unlikely, . . .
If the progressives hate him for pushing the House plan to kill the ObamaCare Medicaid expansion and getting rid of the individual mandate, . . .

Well, that’d be great, but, yeah, the fact that the progressives and neocons both hate him is enough to make me suspect that he might be doing something right. After all, if both the progressives and the neocons hate somebody, then whomever it is can’t be all bad.

Seriously, my comment wasn’t hard to follow or understand. To misunderstand it, you’d probably need to be willfully obtuse. Are you being willfully obtuse?*

            *The correct answer is “yes”.

            1. Crusty Juggler aka "Chad"   8 years ago

Do you think his behavior – which is at the very least its pointless buffoonery, but I think it’s more like troubling incompetence – will help further his goals of not invading in Syria, or whatever positive you think will come from whatever he wants to do with Obamacare?

              1. Ken Shultz   8 years ago

You should try to read books by people you hate and give an honest effort to understand what they’re saying.

Can you do that? You don’t seem to be able to even understand what people are saying if you think they disagree with you.

I read books by Marxists. I disagree with them on a host of issues, but regardless of whether I disagree with them, I can understand what they’re saying.

Can you? I don’t think you can–not consistently.

                1. Crusty Juggler aka "Chad"   8 years ago

You don’t seem to be able to even understand what people are saying if you think they disagree with you.

I do not understand the point of this comment.

                  1. Ken Shultz   8 years ago

                    That isn’t surprising.

None so blind as those who won’t see.

                    1. Crusty Juggler aka "Chad"   8 years ago

Or, I understand your point – pretend that’s the case – and came to the opposite conclusion, which is that merely continuing to piss everyone off will not further any of his goals.

You think it helps, I think it doesn’t – it’s not complicated, Ken.

                    2. $park? leftist poser   8 years ago

Ken is one of those book writers that will constantly berate you because you “just don’t get it” when you read his novels.

                    3. Ken Shultz   8 years ago

“Even I’m starting to think he must be doing something right–if all these assholes in both parties despise him.”

                      You call that a book?

You think that’s hard to understand?

What’d you get on the critical reading section of your SAT?

      2. gaoxiaen   8 years ago

He’s pissing everyone off. Kudos, except for Sessions.

        1. Ken Shultz   8 years ago

Sessions is there because the primary responsibility of the Attorney General, since Watergate, is to protect the president from scandal–so the primary qualification (from the president’s perspective) is loyalty.

Of all the Republicans who risked their political futures by throwing in their lot with Trump when he was in the primaries, (Sessions, Christie, Gingricn, Palin, Bolton, Giuliani), Sessions was the only one who had a political future to risk.

Hence, Sessions was the one Trump could trust the most to watch his back. That’s why Sessions is AG and not somebody else. And when the smoke clears on this, I suspect we may find that Sessions is the one who alerted Trump to Comey being a threat.

Trump should have fired Comey along with Preet Bahara way back when.

    2. Domestic Dissident   8 years ago

The venerable Conrad Black nailed it pretty much dead on here, especially with his perfect last line: “He is the president and his enemies are liars.”

They lie about the attack in Benghazi, they lie about fake nonexistent “manmade global warming”, they lie about Obamacare, they lie about the Obamacare repeal bill, they lie about who our true friends and enemies are in the Middle East are, they lie about who really provided the DNC’s internal emails to Wikileaks… and then to top it all off they murder whoever they have to in their pathetic and desperate attempt to cover up all their lies.
