Actually I don't see how this is terribly different than the argument put forth by the Trumpistas that we need to build a huge wall around the country in order to preserve American culture against untoward influences. In either case, it's the coercive state trying to force culture to evolve in a certain direction - the direction envisioned by the central planners - rather than let it grow organically according to how the citizens wish it to grow.
