Jared Fogle's alleged prison attacker regrets nothing

In a letter to TMZ, Steve Nigg said he attacked Fogle in January 2016 and explained the reason behind his attack.

Canadian church group denied entry to US over fears they would 'steal' jobs

A group of Canadian church volunteers hoping to carry out relief work in New Jersey said they were denied entry to the US over fears that they would be "stealing" American jobs.

The Rehoboth United Reformed church, based in Hamilton, Ontario, had spent months organising its March break trip. The plan was to spend the week helping a central New Jersey church in its ongoing efforts to rebuild homes hit by Hurricane Sandy.

A second letter soon arrived, explaining that mission groups who travel to New Jersey carry out team building, tour programs that range from food pantries and thrift shops and assist with neighbourhood cleanup projects.

It was this last line that border officials seemingly took issue with, said Hoeksema. "This was interpreted as 'work for hire' and since we are foreigners, this would be stealing American jobs."

New video surfaces showing police in California shooting dead a father-of-six after forcing him from his minivan using blasts from a fire hose

Michael Perez, 33, had been pulled over in Anaheim, California, on Saturday night for a broken tail light when police said he refused to get out of his minivan.

The 39-second video shows Perez being forced out of his car through the driver's side window after police broke the windows and used the hose to end the standoff.

An officer was filmed grabbing Perez by the wrist as the two struggled together, while other officers could be heard screaming 'knife'.

A shot was fired before a second, louder shot occurred three seconds later as Perez slipped and fell to the ground.

U.S. Nuclear Weapons Tests Come to YouTube

For the first time, the footage is available in an online archive after some of about 10,000 nuclear testing films were restored, scrutinized and declassified in a project by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California.

The bulk of the videos, some only seconds long and others just over seven minutes, had been stored at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. But the experts in Livermore, about 40 miles southeast of San Francisco, have been working for years to retrieve and preserve the films, which over time had begun to turn brittle or curl, and then to create digital imprints.

So far this week more than 60 of the nuclear tests films were published by the Livermore lab's YouTube account, and more will be added. They offer an evolving glimpse of the closest that most people (one hopes) will ever get to a nuclear blast.

I think he made some interesting points but it's certainly more complicated than that. One could say that the religious are happier because they're more focused on the next life than this one which is a form of escapism. There's also more to socialization and networking than just religious beliefs. Certainly the opportunity to interact with people who are different is going to breed tolerance over just getting your perceptions from the news which can breed hatred of pretty much everyone.

The way he words his closing argument, he seems to think free speech is literally just giving a speech. No one is solely referring to MLK's speeches when they say free speech helped the Civil Rights Movement. His characterization of the Black Panthers effectiveness is also dubious. They didn't even exist until 1966 - which was after most of the key civil rights legislation had been passed. Crediting them seems like a feel good (for the left) "just so" narrative than anything substantial.

Also, with his obsession about power differentials, why on earth does he think it's a good idea to promote an environment where people silence those who disagree with them? Wouldn't that logically lead to worse outcomes for the people without power? And his line about "Trump cutting safety nets" seems to imply that not only is justified to silence racists, it's ok to silence anyone who might make an argument in favor of cutting government spending (or even to make an argument that others could use to cut government spending). Usually only the outright communists are crazy enough to admit that.
