Vote for "the Most Influential Libertarians" and Get $100 Off FreedomFest Registration!
Today is the last day to vote and save on July's Vegas gathering!

Note: Today is the last day that you can vote for "the most influential libertarian" in each of eight separate categories and get $100 off your FreedomFest registration!
FreedomFest, the world's largest annual gathering of libertarian and free-market thinkers, activists, and policymakers takes place in Las Vegas between July 19 to July 22 at Bally's Paris resort.
William Shatner will talk about space exploration and the cultural staying power of Star Trek. Newscasting legend John Stossel, who will soon be making videos for Reason TV, will also be there and this year's conference will also include a celebration of the life and ideas of Steve Forbes, longtime FreedomFest "co-ambassador."
Special "Reason Day" sessions on Saturday, July 21 will deliver cutting-edge views on "Free Minds and Free Markets."
To add to the excitement, FreedomFest impresario Mark Skousen has teamed up with Newsmax magazine to produce a list of "the 50 Most Influential Libertarians" in each of eight different categories such as business and finance, entertainment and the news, freedom-movement organizations, media, politics, and academia.
Among the Reasoners in the hunt are Ronald Bailey, Brian Doherty, and Virginia Postrel (authors); John Stossel, Matt Welch, and myself (media); and Katherine Mangu-Ward, David Nott, and Robert W. Poole (think tanks and educational institutions).
You can vote for up to five candidates in each category and the survey is open until today, March 15.
Go here now to cast your ballot and get $100 off your FreedomFest registration fee.
Over the past years, Reason TV has interviewed dozens of libertarians ranging from P.J. O'Rourke to Penn Jillette to John Mackey to Crossfit creator Greg Glassman to LP presidential ticket Gary Johnson and Bill Weld. Go here for a complete list.
And click below to watch last year's raucous debate among Matt Welch, Jeffrey Tucker, Dan Magru, Wayne Allyn Root and me over whether libertarians should vote for Donald Trump. Called the most controversial and intense panel ever at FreedomFest, it's something to behold.

What about Dalmia? Is she nominated?
Not that you're obsessed with her. Why not post the link to the tweet? It's always compelling.
You're at your most clever when defending fascist apologists
The guy in that photo is a Has Been.
Shatner's version of "Common People" is so awesome.
Agreed.
William Shatner will talk about space exploration and the cultural staying power of Star Trek.
Ask him if he thought T.J. Hooker informed the drug war. Or if Rescue 911 was a catalyst for our current broken window policing problem.
Bill Weld, hands down
He was certainly (unintentionally) influential in helping get Trump elected.
Yeah, I'm sure some people voted for Trump just to spite Bill Weld. What a monster Weld is. In all honesty.
Yeah, I'm sure some people voted for Trump just to spite Bill Weld.
Not sure if you were being sarcastic or not, but FWIW, I know there were a lot of people who comment (or used to) comment here who said they were going to vote for Trump after he all but endorsed Hillary. Whether they really went through with it, I don't know, but quite a few people claimed they were going to.
I wasn't being sarcastic. And Weld is a monster
Took the poll. Then saw the results. Thousands of votes. Many of them for Hoppe and Rockwell. Alarming.
How did Trump do? Sure, he's only like .1% libertarian, but he's a million times more influential than any purer libertarian so his "Influential Libertarian Factor" is still like 1,000. Jesus Christ Himself only has an ILF of 219, just ahead of the Koch Brothers and just behind Mr. Peanut.
'Alarming' or just 'unfortunate'?
I'm not a big fan of Hoppe or Rockwell, but people who are voting for them are obviously more interested in the philosophy than practicality. I would think it would be more 'alarming' if some wishy washy person were leading in nominations. Someone who is more interested in turning 'libertarianism' into some kind of Reform Party agenda, than being a radical voice for change.
I'd nominate John Stossel, though. Every faction likes John Stossel. I'm sure even the Georgists have something nice to say about Stossel
It's the mustache. You can't bash the 'stache.
Rockin' the 'stache.
#Kmele2017
I wrote Kmele in for a bunch of the categories.
Here's a preview of his planned remarks.
Fuck, the sound dies about 25 seconds or so in. That's what I get for not watching the whole video before posting. I can't find it on youtube or anywhere else, probably because NBC/ Universal has a tendency to sue anyone who posts their shit. Oh well, use your imaginations.
You know, the past tense of shit is shat.
I don't know. Seems a lot of those candidates are there to pad the ranks. Not so sure, having listened to Stern over the years, he qualifies as a 'libertarian'. Ditto for a few names there; plus I don't even know half of them. And call me old fashioned or plain irrational but that O'Rourke, who clearly is conservative, voted for Hillary just doesn't jive with me. Maybe I'm looking at all this wrong.
So I vote for...ME.
Agreed, anyone who identifies as conservative doesn't belong on a list of libertarians.
I thoroughly enjoy his work but yeah....
