Milo Booted from CPAC, Trump Picks New Security Adviser, More Anti-Trump Rallies: P.M. Links

-
Mark Reinstein/ZUMA Press/Newscom President Donald Trump has picked Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster to replace Michael Flynn as National Security Adviser.
- Milo Yiannopoulos has been disinvited from speaking at CPAC over a controversial recording of an interview which suggested he supports sexual relationships between underage boys and adult men (he says now he supports no such thing).
- Vice President Mike Pence is off in Brussels attempting to convince Europe that the Trump administration supports the European Union and NATO.
- Swedish police who were interviewed for the film that was used for Fox's news report that the country was having crime problems because of immigration say that their quotes were misrepresented. They were talking about high-crime areas, but say they made no mention of immigration or any role immigration might have played. Trump used the Fox report to say Sweden was having crime problems in a weekend rally.
- More protesters took to the street today for "Not My President's Day" anti-Trump rallies.
- Elsewhere, a business owner is defending firing employees who didn't show up to work on "A Day Without Immigrants" protest, which is a reminder that this technique of proving your value doesn't work if it turns out you can be easily replaced.
- Nearly a dozen folks just walked through an unmanned security checkpoint at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City without ever being screened by TSA and boarded planes.

Free Milo?
Nah, you'd have to pay me.
Hello.
Sweden: It's not rape when Muslims do it.
Discount Milo?
Apparently his book deal has been cancelled too.
Woodchipper Milo.
This article is more like it.
Quick question, are you paying Reason.com advertising fees?
Are you? I click on the advertisers occasionally to give Reason traffic. Is there a clause in the commentariat that we can't put shameless plugs in?
Does it occur to you at all that the others who left are making an actual principled stand and not still commenting here? Do you get that you are nothing more than a troll here?
Fuck off. I never said I was leaving here. I still like Reason and believe it will eventually come back to normal. Every post you do is negative, are you sure you're not a troll?
How about you fuck off? We're all so happy for you that you have a new clubhouse to play in. We've all heard about it more times than anyone cares about anymore. All of the posts you've put here so far today amount to the same thing as the spambots advertising how you can make $37637984 working from home on your computer.
Hit the block button. Or scroll past. You're name says all I need to know.

I have a feeling that Reason will never go back to normal as long as Welch and Gillespie are running the show.

Cockam's Gayazor: this shit is exactly what they want.
Yeah! He shouldn't be able to advertise on this site with its totally unmoderated comment section! Wait...
Bacon, I greatly appreciate the kind words about our little effort, and I absolutely know you have the best intentions, but Reason has its mission and its readers, and this is their house.
Understood.
You're a good dude. Look forward to drinking with you when I get down there.
I like avatars. *kicks pebble*
For future reference, this is what being principled looks like.
So are we to understand that, by being principled, you mean you totally it's totally cool to write a comment extolling your own principles while telling us how the principled don't comment?
Is A =/= A?
Vice President Mike Pence is off in Brussels attempting to convince Europe that the Trump administration supports the European Union and NATO.
FOR A PRICE.
Fuckin A!

And rest assured he doesn't know any Russians much less have their phone number.
"not my comment section". Everyone is a protestor now.
More protesters took to the street today for "Not My President's Day" anti-Trump rallies.
My president is Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho!

It's what plants crave?
Apparently there was supposed to be one of those anti-Trump protests in downtown Knoxville today, on Market Square Mall. WBIR-TV 10 showed a live shot of it at start time, a moment ago, and nobody there appeared to be protesting anything.
Maybe the camera was looking the wrong way.
Elsewhere, a business owner is defending firing employees who didn't show up to work on "A Day Without Immigrants" protest, which is a reminder that this technique of proving your value doesn't work if it turns out you can be easily replaced.
Deplorable!
A bunch of white wealthy comfortable leftards told these poor people to go out on strike, and not a single white wealthy comfortable leftoid lost their job over it either.
Nearly a dozen folks just walked through an unmanned security checkpoint at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City without ever being screened by TSA and boarded planes.
Sounds better than my time there. Most incompetent TSA I've dealt with and I fly out of LAX.
But *friendly*, right? RIGHT?!
So far PDX has been the most friendly followed by MSY.
At JFK (at least on my last walk through) they put everyone with Pre-Check and the normals into the same line and just asked each person if they had Pre-Check or not.
I judge the friendliness of TSA officers by the quality of the free massage I receive when I ask for the opt out.
I've flown only once in the last six years, so I'm not as experienced as you guys. Flying back from Vegas last summer, the wife and I somehow got "pre-checked." Not even knowing what that meant, we got in the regular entrance where there was *no one waiting to get screened*. The TSA agent told us to go to the pre-check line where there were about ten people waiting to go through. ARGHHHHH!
Nearly a dozen folks just walked through an unmanned security checkpoint at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City without ever being screened by TSA and boarded planes. -- And nothing came of it.
We really dodged a shoe bomb on this one.
Best shoe dodging skills? GW.
Nice catch.
Oddly enough, they still took off there shoes and fed their laptops through the scanner.
I guess those TSA agents were celebrating "A Day Without Immigrants."
Philadelphia is just awful. The TSA employees hate you for existing and barely conceal their feelings. Heathrow is 2nd place for shittiness, but it's less about the rudeness of the staff and more about their workload,as that place is mad busy. On the other hand, Seattle is great and everyone is really friendly, same with Anchorage, and Vienna's airport staff are also very nice.
But all in all, of all the airports I've been in, I much prefer the employees at the Sarajevo airport, for their relative indifference.
Three of the 11 were later identified through video and were believed to have boarded a flight to California, where they were to be screened upon arrival,
given that the flight did in fact arrive.
IKR, seems to defeat the purpose, no?
Punishment for being bad at their terrorist job.
...which is a reminder that this technique of proving your value doesn't work if it turns out you can be easily replaced.
Hopefully with an immigrant.

As always, Shackleford's alt-text is on point. IF A BIT BITCHY.
You need to be first on multiple sites. Just say'n.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS.
You are loved. I want to know you from the first throne though. *waits patiently for a Canadian hello today*
Non-Canadian hello. The best kind of hello.
This is technically a Hello.
Irresponsible alt-text. Why doesn't he list all of Milo's positions and explain why they're terrible?
Because they're all NSFW?
John would be scandalized.
Thanks, Scott. Decent Lynx.
Suck up.
Scott is the king of alt-text.

Couldn't you just save yourself all this effort and just call him a Kiddy Diddler?
Meh, I read the unabridged version of the transcript and it seems no different than what Plopper was saying a few years back.
I'd be interested to see how many people are defending Yiannopolis because he pisses off the right people who were actively running Plopper out on a rail because icky opinions.
You're right. Milo is a victim of the tape recorders that were in his vicinity. They have a liberal bias.
I heard he's into that.
Who is Plopper?
Commenter in about 2013 who had strong opinions on age of consent laws. Yiannopolis's full statement reads like a slightly less obsessive version of the stuff he'd write.
Random thread he participated in.
I don't remember him. Anyway, I read what Milo said and I don't find it so goddamn awful to gang up on Milo. I'm not a parent, so I just don't get this urge to protect my little (13 yo) baby. When I was this age I wasn't attracted to older guys (a 20 yo would be like a grandpa) but I bet somebody was and I don't feel like destroying their lives.
My point was more that our conservative commenters c. 2013 were apoplectic about Plopper saying similar things, but now it's Milo and his position is justifiable.
I honestly don't know that there are good answers regarding this. I know people who were 14 and horny, went on Yahoo chat and hooked up with random strangers they met on the internet who were 2x+ their age and turned out pretty ok, and I know people who went through that phase and came out absolutely fucked.
Wasn't there a similar incident with the Free State Project kicking someone out for questioning age of consent laws?
I've never said anything anywhere was "justifiable".
I actually saw that video w/ Joe Rogan the same day it went up. His conversation wasn't nearly an endorsement or policy of "supporting" relationships between adults and minors. He was mostly just talking about his own experiences and saying, "what sometimes happens".
The way they're trying to spin it is that "he had X view" and now has changed his view - when in fact he's simply responded to an accusation and said, "that's false".
shorter = i'm not the slightest bit interested in cross-generational gayness. I was remarking about the rhetorical slight of hand being employed in the characterization of the issue.
Also, jesse-
am i now a 'conservative commenter'? or were you referring to someone else?
Here's the video
what's interesting is that the same interview contains an extended debate about how "the left" coddles pedophiles
i don't have time to watch the whole thing again, but i imagine context is clarifying
I was reading the unedited transcript provided by Instapundit. Haven't seen the clip yet.
Ah, no I wasn't talking about you at all.
Here's the segment w. him talking about "If it weren't for Father Michael, i'd give far less good-head"
His conversation wasn't nearly an endorsement or policy of "supporting" relationships between adults and minors.
Baloney. Utter baloney.
"Some of these relationships between younger boys and older men can be life-affirming."
And don't just tell me "you're taking it out of context". Show me the context that changes the meaning of that statement.
This is in no way a defense of what Milo was saying. But, a number of my gay friends all said they were sexually aggressive at 14, the age Milo said he was active with a priest and that they were the ones initiating with older men (20 - 25). They all said they knew exactly what they were doing. Milo said they same thing in the Rogan podcast and made a point to distinguish this from pedophilia.
Obviously, the adults in these situations should know better, and Milo may not think it was actually pedophilia because he wanted it, even though we think it is. But, I was hearing these kinds of stories from gay friends long before Milo mentioned this on the Rogan podcast.
I don't know what the right answer is. Obviously anything below 14 is unacceptable. Above 14, if someone wants to be sexually active, let them go in front of a judge and get emancipated. If they demonstrate a certain level of maturity and self-awareness, I don't have a problem with it.
Sounds like you are advocating a government license to fuck.
If nothing else, it's hypocrisy. There are always people jumping in on the 14-year-old-boy-bangs-hot-teacher threads to say they wish they could have done that when they were his age.
Plopper is Milo, you heard here first. From jesse...
I've done this twice. And a third time if I count the time I was holding a sleeping infant and they just waved me through after I refused the scanner.
They should have taken the baby from you and put xe into DCS custody: by refusing the scanner, you lowered the baby's level of security, which is clearly child abuse.
Neither you, nor the TSA agents were thinking of the children.
Either for that reason or the pet carrier or I was carrying her in.
Did you have a name and address tag on the carrier in case the two of you became separated?
President Donald Trump has picked Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster to replace Michael Flynn as National Security Adviser.
Flynn was just a Red Herring.
Cause nobody can do it like Mix Master can

Gee, wonder what the Chinese would do.
Vice President Mike Pence is off in Brussels attempting to convince Europe that the Trump administration supports the European Union and NATO.
Why exactly? It doesn't even seem like Europe supports the EU.
College Writing Center Declares American Grammar A 'Racist,' 'Unjust Language Structure'
Dr. Asao Inoue, director of the writing center, is behind the new push for social justice.
What an Asao!
Why do I feel like the real problem is poor inner city school kids aren't receiving good education and thus their math and language skills are lacking. But these college professors cannot tell a student they are wrong or lacking in any way -- trust me I passed two years of Italian without knowing any Italian -- so the system must be racist.
AND the system is racist, because if we changed grammar norms to inner city dialects, they would be receiving quite legitimate A's.
Poor inner city kids speak and write like they do, because that's how most of their teachers speak and write.
At least they are finally admitting that language control is thought control.
* Christ
Well, the second may be a fact, but the first is surely interpretation.
I'm not sure what his complaint here is. There is no 'inherent' standard *for any language*. Indeed, for that vast majority of things people do there is no inherent standard. Is your mother's cooking good? Is it better than your wife's? What the standard you're using to judge by?
There are, however, agreed upon rules. Rules made up by the masses and changed on the fly over time by the same masses. But I don't see how that is racist.
They were talking about high-crime areas, but say they made no mention of immigration or any role immigration might have played.
Trump gonna do his very best and it ain't no lie.
Expected.
Why the Hell does that business owner have to defend any of that?
Deplorable virtue signaling?
That works. Thanks.
Nearly a dozen folks just walked through an unmanned security checkpoint at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City without ever being screened by TSA and boarded planes.
Thanks for pointing it out. Now we're all gonna be extra double screened.
"More protesters took to the street today for "Not My President's Day" anti-Trump rallies."
People that protest Dear Leader because he said that press is the enemy of the people are just the worst. Haven't been to enough punk shows.
This is the second time you've done this.
i consider intentional impersonation in a public place a direct threat and intent to harm. I suggest you consult your state's statutes on criminal impersonation.
Dude, I tried to get someone to respond and no one did. Maybe you are just boring. Send legal hate mail and cease-and-desist email to lionel_hutz@hushmail.com.
the fuck is happening.
Evil Doppelganger syndrome seems to be rampant these days as the commentariat slowly dies.
4:39 has g1lmore instead of 4:49's gilmore
Impersonation trolls have been all over the place recently.
jesus. this is getting ridiculous. I can easily tell the drivel apart but to see it still standing is something else.
It just got nuked.
I feel like i should/could make some very-public announcement that i'm retiring this handle and hereafter anything posted under that name was DEFINITELY NOT ME
but what concerns me is that they would persist regardless. I don't want to have to try and police this idiot.
This pathetic bitch who doesn't have the decency to earn his own name will probably fizzle out like sack of shit he is. The weak do not have the fortitude to endure.
It always cracks me up when nuking a troll collapses threads in a weird way. You look REALLY annoyed at Fist and he's done absolutely nothing wrong besides being himself.
I just like getting the attention however it comes.
I'm pretty sure it's all daijal or whatever the fuck his name is.
Ctrl+F "gllmore"
Mary (or former Amsoc, or whomever) is impersonating my handle.
That is despicable. Anyone that uses more than one handle is an asshole. The fuck is wrong with people.
Using more than one is one thing. I don't but if someone wants to for whatever that's their business.
Using someone else's is low.
Gilmore if the meaning of it's response "I'm just trying to get someone to respond"or something close to that then that might well ne dijal.
He was here yesterday and posted 3/4 of the posts on one thread and constantly grew more desperate when he could get no one to respond to any post of his.
Whomever could be seriously troubled. Can, or will, reason look in to that and she if that poster has another name here ?
Whomever could be seriously troubled. Can, or will, reason look in to that and she if that poster has another name here ?
I could be wrong, but I believe they do IP bans, so the trolls just use TOR or another VPN to bounce themselves off someone else's IP. Regardless of what they do it's just playing whack a mole.

"Unauthorized absenteeisms have consequences."
Wait, I distinctly remember being told that elections have consequences...and that those are the only consequences I should ever have to face for anything at all...
Nope. Speech also has consequences, like being punched in the face.
Correction: that was hate speech, which is exactly the same as violence. Nazi rape violence.
Conscience do cost

Last time I was there I saw a mob of immigrants with signs. We started worrying about our safety. Then it turned out it was part of their graduation festivities and the immigrants were popping champagne bottles and whatnot just like everyone else.
/anticlimactic story
Yeah, graduated from TERRORISM SCHOOL. Also, way to not assimilate. As a foreigner you should have been hoisting signs, too. Also, shopping at Ikea doesn't count as being in Sweden.
Apparently it's Swedish tradition to find cute or embarrassing childhood photos of your high school grad blown up and wave them around. Ideally you don't tell them which one you're going with so they find out when they come by riding in the bed of the truck.
They looked like they had a way better time than I did for HS grad.
I was told I moonwalked across the stage at my graduation, although I have no recollection of it.
If only dozens of people had videotaped you with their high resolution camera phones as kids are want to do now. You could be a youtube star!
HuffPo: Why I Don't Like White Women
Oh, FFS!
So in case anyone is wondering why the sudden rise of the alt-right is a thing, look no further. It's not that anti-white racism is a new thing, it's that it gets so much damn acceptance and these statements don't attract condemnation, nowadays these sorts of diatribes actually get accolades.
Then you have people like Robby just dying to get an invite to her next cocktail party.
"Without a doubt, white women are responsible for many of societies ills, still, we shouldn't necessarily condemn all white women based on the actions of some of them."
How was my equivocation?
Some might say it's good.
And if she tells anyone anywhere that Robby is mean, he will cry for a week and ask her what he did wrong.
alt-left
"construct of whiteness or what it represents"
WTF does that even mean??
AND
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkVl1zfM_G4
She describes herself as 'cash poor.'
I'm 1) guessing that doesn't mean she is non-liquid assets rich and 2) not surprised.
I once heard a punk (30 year old variety) whine to his mother, "I know exactly why I can't get a cell phone on my own. Because I don't have any credit."
Just shook my head and tried not to laugh. The punk had no credit because he did not have a job or any other demonstrable income, of any kind, and had not held a job longer than a week in years.
Lots of this stupid language abuse comes from the early 2000s and earlier when the social do-gooders were claiming certain people were being denied housing, the internet, and other tangibles because racist bankers were not "giving" them credit.
Does this author feel like she needs to earn respect?
"DiDi Delgado, Contributor

Enough said.

Some white folks seem to be offended by this article. Here is something to consider:
When white people hate non-white populations in America the people they hate are segregated, imprisoned, not given access to the protections of the law, are redlined or blacklisted, and/or murdered.
When people of color hate white people we hurt your feelings."
Fucken idiot - as are many of the commenters.
This guy's mindset revolving around racial inequity is not uncommon. When every conceivable non-white group is being constantly nudged towards leftist dogmas about white people being the root cause of all their personal failings, why should I be joyous about increasing rates of non-white immigration? Seems to be a rather counterproductive thing to promote considering that my children and grand children will be living with this irreversible social experiment.
Redlining, another of those FDR creations that keeps giving almost a century later.
"When people of color hate white people we hurt your feelings."
And sometimes various body parts. Depending on the situation.
It's not this author's skin color I have a problem with -- it's the content of her character.
I think these people should be celebrated
they're basically forming a giant boat-anchor behind progressivism
Wow. So HuffPo now supports racism? Moral high ground non-existent.
Seems like overt racism is the high moral ground of the left, all over again.
What a psychopath. Fuck these collectivist racist assholes.
Whenever I meet a white woman who's not baffled by it, we instantly become friends.
Because you like self-hating white women. I'm sure she calls all white people racist without recognizing that she is the one who seems to see everything through a racial lens*.
I once tried to point out this irony to proggie acquaintance (how they are the 'actual' racists because they view everything from a standpoint of race, whereas I personally couldn't care less if you are orange, let alone white/black/etc.) and they simply couldn't make the connection.
I also recently pointed out the poor treatment of women/gays/etc in Muslim theocracies. I was immediately called a muslim-hating bigot. I can't even parody these people.
"DiDi Delgado, Contributor
"Poet, Activist, Womyn in search of her own truths."
Well, put it that way and you can overlook that she's a freaking racist.
Which is why I hate Elizabeth Warren.
Of course they didn't. In Sweden the topic is officially taboo. (Or should I say haram?) But it's obvious to anyone who looks at the news and the data. (Which, sadly, does not include Reason.)
Do you remember the jihadist terror campaign that ravaged Malmo, Sweden's third largest city? Do you recall the bombings, the suicide-hijackings, and the random assassinations that finally coerced the city to surrender to Islamization?
It's been known for years, but ideological blindness prevents many from seeing it.
Right. The cops were covering their asses.
Is this sort of like the new revisionist claim that the New Year's rap sprees in Germany never actually happened, or is it pretty much an identical whitewash?
New Year's rape sprees
That's a relief, I was worried for a moment.

Did I mention that on a trip to the Cambodian jungle that I buggered two Natives on a raft on the Irrawaddy? Milo knows the finer things in life.

well, now this is a bad response. disregard.
Trump's criticism of the media is thinly-veiled anti-semitism
What nonsense. Nobody thought Trump was a bigot until he ran for president. Since then, it's been confirmation bias all the way down.
He's a Zionist Israeli Puppet, but only on Thursdays.
And an Anti Semite. You can't forget that one.
That would be Nazi Tuesdays.
What does this have to do with anti semitism? Im confused
Anti-Semitism has become the new Fascism, ie something the user finds vaguely icky and does not like.
Both of which apply to Trump.
It's only anti-semitic to actual anti-semites whose first thought is "Jews control the media and banks."
Jelly.
If you read/listen to what Milo actually said, it's a stretch to suggest he thinks those relationships should be legal or supports them.
It's been fun reading threads at cesspools like fark where people defended Lena Dunham, hand waived Roman Polanski, and love to celebrate teacher/student relationships, but are now calling Milo a pedophile. Hell, I can't wait for Salon to publish some pieces critical of him for what (they think) he said.
cesspools like fark
I stopped going there altogether. It's fucking hopeless. Most people that post there are just completely immune to facts and logic.
Pretty straightforward.
I forget who it was, but I recently heard some Brit outright say that Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May simply don't count as female PMs because they're on the "wrong side" of politics.
Somewhat related, he thinks homosexual marriage is nonsense too. Wow, more libertarian than Reason on that one.
If you read/listen to what Milo actually said, it's a stretch to suggest he thinks those relationships should be legal or supports them.
This is what he said: "Some of these relationships between younger boys and older men can be life-affirming."
If you think that's taken out of context, explain how the context changes it. Don't just wave your hands and scream context.
Nearly a dozen folks just walked through an unmanned security checkpoint at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City without ever being screened by TSA and boarded planes.
Once I got in the wrong line (I guess). No one checked me. I didn't take off my shoes. I didn't get in the body scanner. I just walked on through. No one stopped me. It was nice for a change.

It's a formulation one can and should use all the time: "If you read/listen to what [non-leftist] actually said, it's a stretch to suggest he thinks [the bad things his enemies accuse him of]."
Threading fail. That was a reply to Brendan.
I'm still a little surprised at the (so far) universal interpretation and subsequent condemnation.
It used to be that people who had sexual relations at young ages with adults, especially those with power like priests, relatives, etc. were viewed as victims and their sometimes seemingly dismissive, abhorrent, or humorous statements regarding it were looked at as attempt to rationalize it or put it in a positive light for their own well being.
I just got back from Ibiza where I DJed with Paul Oakenfold. Do you guys want a copy of my mix.
Milo is widely accused of being a racist - excuse me, Alt-right - and to my knowledge hasn't denied it. Fine. He is widely accused of being a sexist and to my knowledge hasn't denied it. Fine. He is widely accused of being anti transgender and also to my knowledge hasn't denied it. He certainly charmed Bill Maher. (At least I hope he only charmed Bill) Fine. He is now accused of approving adult men of having "sexual relationships" with male minors, which he strongly denies. THE HORROR!!! of course CPAC should uninvite him. Just be glad there were no riots over his rumored support of sex with minors.
The thing that rankles here is that he's making a clear delineation between pedophilia in the technical sense and hebephilia or ephebophilia, which is a fair distinction to make, but is not generally made by the general public. People tend to freak out less about ephebophilia especially in the context of HS relationships where one person is 18 and the other is 15 or something, but hebephilia still freak people out and that seems to be where he's drawing the line.
In the context, he's clearly not talking about 18 year old and 15 year old relationships. "Younger boys and older men" were his words.
The general public is full of irrational morons whose meager ability to use reason and logic degrades even further whenever there is a discussion about children. If the general public has a misunderstanding about what terms like "pedophilia" actually mean, then they need to be ruthlessly corrected and mocked for said misunderstanding.
He laughs and mocks the idea that he is alt-right.
I'm pretty sure he has openly claimed that transgender people are either mentally ill or gay and afraid to admit it, though the mentally ill part might have only been referring to people who have reassignment surgery.
Then you're just ignorant. He is Alt-Lite. The Alt-Right says he is not Alt-Right. He argues against the Alt-Right. The Left calls this "support" because he doesn't rant insanely that they are all Nazis.
Tonight I'm going to an Anti-Flag show where I will get in mosh pit with my Romulus jacket. I will look cool.

Another scalp for the SJW teepee pole.
no1curr
Another scalp for the cuckservative pole, you mean. All those NeverTrumpers that think principles matter. Silly people, winning is all that matters. Even if you gotta switch teams halfway through the game.
The Conservatives have their Cuckservatives .
The Libertarians have their Cucktarians.
The same problem with both. "Muh principles" as out of context absolutes that ultimately betray their principles.
The Cuckservatives are all for Rule of Law. And that is dandy.
But one of the unstated premises of Rule of Law is *reciprocity*.
One way cease fire is suicide
One way rule of law is subjection
One way civility is subservience
Does the Left observe rule of law, of even civility? No.
But the Cuckservatives abide by non-reciprocal cease fires, and so conserve nothing, betraying their purported principles.
Libertarians are for liberty. Hey, let's extend that to immigrants! And that's fine and dandy in a context where the US is overwhelmingly libertarian, and the immigrants won't change that, and will assimilate to libertarian principles.
US libertarians: We believe in freedom! We won't impede an immigrants's freedom of movement!
Immigrants: Great! Now give me welfare! And shut up, because your speech offends me!
Like the Cuckservatives, the Cucktarians devotion to their principles as out of context absolutes betrays those principles.
That is why they are called Cucks.
I don't follow you. It was a CPAC event.
Apparently his publisher also cancelled his book.
I really hope what goes around comes around, because I just want to watch the tears flow. It'll make the Oroville dam look like a tiny garden host leak.
Really? I get being removed from CPAC, but since when did controversy hurt book sales?
Other writers were threatening to boycott S&S if they published Milo's book.
So is he released, because there is a book and someone will sell it. And make MILLIONS.
Gee golly, I remember when liberals used to think that suppressing controversial books was a bad thing. Some other publisher's gain, I guess.

Yiannopoulos is a smart libertarian polemicist who traffics in hyperbole that happens to align with conservatives' stance on political correctness. Allowing him to implicitly represent conservatism behind College Republican podiums has been profoundly confusing for thousands of young people who are working to forge the set of beliefs that will inform their decisions for decades to come.
Oh FFS.
libertarian? He loves Rudy Giuliani and Trump ffs.
"Allowing him to implicitly represent conservatism behind College Republican podiums has been profoundly confusing for thousands of young people who are working to forge the set of beliefs that will inform their decisions for decades to come."
Yep, if someone doesn't show up with the approved label, how are those poor kids to ever learn?
Listening to that for the first time: "The first six months of ebola and the first six months of AIDS are fantastic. You stay nice and thin..."
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! BEYOND THE PALE!
So the I'm guessing "the priest who molested me is the reason why I'm good at giving head," was a joke. Or maybe he was dead serious about both of those things.
The problematic statement is "some of those relationships between younger boys and older men can be life affirming" -- and in the context he's clearly talking about sexual relationships. When one of the other participants says "this sounds like Catholic priest pedophilia", Milo tells the joke about the priest teaching him how to give head. He does NOT try to clarify that he wasn't talking about pedophilia, if anything he tacitly confirms the interpretation that he was saying pedophila can be a good thing.
So yeah, the context does not help.
I dunno, it just seems like he's an outrage factory (a right wing Lena Dunham). There seems to be little filter, little to cue you in when he's being serious and when he's taking the piss and when he's making a legitimate point, but then using all sorts of outlandish and stupid and bad arguments to do so.
IOW, well yeah he says all sorts of things that are tasteless and awful; I think he views that as his job. Trying to parse a governing rational philosophy out of what appears to be hyperactive stream of consciousness right wing trolling seems to me awfully hard to do.
I'm not really defending him (if he was as funny as he thinks he is, I definitely would as I would with Dunham), I'm just trying to figure out what the sudden "gotcha" is in all of this.
I hope he got a huge advance.
Free markets have spoken! Either that or it's that "freedom of association" thingy
A private enterprise decided that the behavior of one of its invited speakers was not compatible with their righteousness.
And reason.com libertarians are pissed that it did?
LOL
Yes, private enterprise can do that and the rest of us can talk about it any way we want.
You should have added "LOL" just to match the witlessness of MD.
It wasn't SJWs that did this, it was Milo himself.
I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt about the video being dishonestly edited, but here's the uncut version. I don't see how one can argue he wasn't praising pederasty.
It's possible he really doesn't support it and was just "talking big" to get a reaction, but oh my word have some discretion. This wasn't a hot mike situation, he was on a friggin web video and knew it.
When you've been pushing the envelope as long as he has, you don't realize when you burst right through.
Evil Doppelganger syndrome seems to be rampant these days as the commentariat slowly dies.
Gresham's Law, internet commenter edition.
Wow that's spot on.
And there you go, making me learn something today.
"Vice President Mike Pence is off in Brussels attempting to convince Europe that the Trump administration supports the European Union and NATO."
I can see Pence channeling Obama: "This wasn't my election ? after the next one I'll have more flexibility."
There were points where i checked in today and it looked like Trolls talking to other Trolls.
Yes.
Who will tell me how terrible he is? Who?
Very light commenting since the Secession of the Yokels.
Well, then, be the change you want to see in this thread.
Am I talking to the man in the mirror?
Or maybe it's just President's Day and most of the nation is off work.
Maybe. But it seems like AM and PM links that used to hit the 400s or above regularly are now having trouble hitting 250. I have to work and don't have enough time to comment, but I still lurk, and the drop off is noticeable.
Nearly a dozen folks just walked through an unmanned security checkpoint at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City without ever being screened by TSA and boarded planes.
Back in my day, they didn't even have security checkpoints. Used to get blowed up about every third flight, it's just the way things were and you got used to it. Course, back then we didn't have artisanal mayonnaise so nobody had any reason to live and we were all praying for death anyways.
We lost alot of our people that way. Sad. Make America Safe.
Flying in South Africa was fun, like stepping back in time. Toss your bag up on the conveyer, walk through the metal detector (which didn't detect my belt buckle or coins in my pocket), and you're through. I hear they've implemented some stricter rules to comply with international requirements since then, but my guess is that they are enforced halfheartedly. Of course I had to jump through many, many, MANY hoops to get back into the country. Makes it very difficult to smuggle in Biltong, unfortunately.
Flying back through Amsterdam they had American-style security in place for outbound flights going to the US. Rapiscanners and all.
American exceptionalism at HKIA thrives as well. At least I can have confidence that the HKIA airport security drones aren't as retarded as TSA.
...she said from the shade of her enormous vagina hat.
I remember back when they covered the tea party protests, outlets like CNN would pick out the worst elements in the crowd and make sure they got a prominent mention. Strange how the tone of coverage for these protests seems quite different.
"?Elsewhere, a business owner is defending firing employees who didn't show up to work on "A Day Without Immigrants" protest, which is a reminder that this technique of proving your value doesn't work if it turns out you can be easily replaced."
He's promoting "A Day Without Virtue Signaling".

I love how people can think this is an appropriate response. If they've already made it to their destination what possible use is screening them then? As they're walking out the door. 'Sorry sir, but you're on the no-fly list. You'll have to pay for a Greyhound back to your city of origin and then take the bus back here'.
'Hey! They got screened, right? That's our metric and we hit our target.'
One time I was "screened" (searched) after getting off a flight. No one else. I got singled out for some reason. I had already been screened at the departing airport. There was absolutely no reason to take all my stuff out of my bag and rifle through everything. I got no explanation for it whatsoever.
Yeah, well, it's a free country, and they were free to detain and search you.
If they've already made it to their destination what possible use is screening them then?
... the TSA's main purpose isn't security so much as "Security Theater."
More protesters took to the street today for "Not My President's Day" anti-Trump rallies.
Of course, lots of signs about not accepting a "fascist". I wonder how many of these people even know what "fascism" is.
Approximately zero would be my guess.
Elsewhere, a business owner is defending firing employees who didn't show up to work on "A Day Without Immigrants" protest, which is a reminder that this technique of proving your value doesn't work if it turns out you can be easily replaced.
I hope he did a Trump impression as he was firing people.
yes yeeeessssss
Vice President Mike Pence is off in Brussels...
joining Nigel Farage in telling the EU to kindly fuck off?
...attempting to convince Europe that the Trump administration supports the European Union and NATO.
Meh.
Pence is walking a fine line if he intends to run in 2020.
His presidential ambitions may sprout in Brussels.
Or did it already take a Belgian endive?

Say what you want about his other choices, but McMaster is a brilliant selection. Now if he would promote Derek Harvey to something more prominent, I'd feel pretty good about who he has whispering in his ear. Of course, whether or not he lets McMaster do his job is another question, but I choose to feel really good about this.
Ditto.
Slow monday.

" 'Jerry Brown on California drought: 'Climate change is not a hoax'
04/05/15 04:45 PM
By Joseph Neese
California Gov. Jerry Brown said on Sunday the water rations he imposed in the wake of an historic drought should serve as a "wake-up call" not just for residents of his home state but everyone.
"I can tell you, from California, climate change is not a hoax," he said on ABC's "This Week." "We're dealing with it, and it's damn serious."
http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/jer.....e-not-hoax
----------------------------
Hmmm. Looks like the climate changed, doncha know...
At the risk of Edifying the post:
Moonbeam was CA governor 1975-1983, during one of the worst droughts in (recorded) CA history. As noted above, he is stupid enough to claim that the recent drought "proves" climate change, in spite of this:
"The present dry spell has been increasingly compared to the 76-77 drought. So, how exactly does 2013 stack up to the previous most extreme dry period in living memory? Precipitation-wise, the 76-77 event was characterized by two consecutive years with very low precipitation, while the present event consists of one modestly dry year (2012) and one record-dry year (2013)."
http://weatherwest.com/archives/1038
The result, however, was and is quite similar, and they. at least, didn't arm-wave about the wrath of the gods.
As noted several times, and given the severity of late '70s drought, you might imagine a 'public servant' would work to increase water storage.
(cont'd)
Nope, not moonbeam, who ran on the platform of 'lowered expectations' (in his defense, it was 'the time of Jimmy Carter').
To understand his stupidity, I'm certain you have to know that moonbeam is a failed Jesuit candidate, and he's never lost his passion to show that man should suffer and fail in his desire for perfection (it's paywalled, but here moonbeam tells us we are all doomed 'cause the sin of pride: http://www.sfchronicle.com/bay.....802489.php
Anyhow, moonbeam's late-'70s vision of the future somehow did not include additional water storage ('let 'em eat dirty veggies!') nor the doubling of the CA population since then, so when the most recent drought hit, well, it was all about suffering (3-minute showers! Forget about lawns! Drive dirty cars!) and religious pronouncements as noted above.
Feinstein is supposedly pushing him as a tired replacement for her; we can all hope they both kick the bucket and take their tired lefty religions with them.
For now, let's leave laughing at moonbeam to better times, and for sake of argument, let's allow the catastrophists claims that "the climate is changing and top men need to be put in charge to save mankind!"
Save mankind from what, clean cars?
We had a "Top Man" in charge. He was in charge when he had the opportunity to act during a drought where adding water storage could have prevented future problems. His response was to pass THE FUCKING DILLS ACT to make sure he continued to get union voters.
Now we have the same fucking "Top Man" in charge, and what does he do? He whiffs a repeat of an earlier temporary condition, preaches his assholian religion about suffering, ignores what IS infrastructure to promote his choo-choo.
And THESE are the people to whom we are to entrust our economic (and medical, I think) future.
Fuck you, proggies, every one.
Well it's DAM serious for sure Governor Moonbeam.
Re: McMaster
Got a question one of you legal eagles might be able to answer for me. Not looking for legal advice, just trying to get a handle on an issue relating to how non-profits work.
Say you have a small non-profit - owned and operated by 2-3 people. You can't directly pay the owners the profit, but they can be paid a salary. So, what are the restrictions on this? Could the salary be completely arbitrary and have no basis in expected earnings? As in, you're expecting to generate a 30k surplus, could you offer a $50,000 salary? To ensure you eat up that excess (knowing that he's not going to get 50k because there's only 30k to pay him with)?
Could he claim back wages for years where he actually took home less than his listed salary (assuming there's enough surplus to cover those back wages)?
Let's assume that there is a reasonable amount left in the non-profit's accounts to cover lean years and/or expansions, what do you do if you have more money than you can do anything with left over?
IANAL, nor do I sleep in any particular hotel. But having been 'involved' in some n-p's, I think you're asking for some pretty specific tax advice.
The first and most important question is, which politicians have you given campaign contributions?
If you have to ask, you probably need a lawyer.
I dropped a note to the webmaster pointing out that if they (Reason) wants to keep a functioning web site, they need to keep it free of disease-causing vermin.
It's their choice, not mine.
They know that anybody who's left at this point is in it for the long haul.
Could be, but I am now a free-rider. 2017 contribution = $0.00.
Some guy in class today said that Adam Smith and Milton Friedman were raving racists. He said this in response to a Professor noticing that there aren't a lot of black economic majors at DePaul. The guy's theory is that since "neo-liberalism" is inherently racist, it stops blacks from majoring in Economics.
I wish I was bullshitting you guys. We were talking about diversity in the workplace and surprisedly a lot of my classmates said that while affirmative action may be viewed as a noble goal, it's still wrong to discriminate or hire someone solely based on their race. When a girl expressed her reservations about affirmative action, these two raging liberals lost their shit and called them all racists.
"When a girl expressed her reservations about affirmative action, these two raging liberals lost their shit and called them all racists."
Over the last year or so, I have lost some "friends".
Pointing out that we can't afford to support the Brit NHS via our providing for the UK's defense got me labeled all sorts of nasty things and a request I 'apologize'.
If they were friends, I'm glad they're not drinking my wine anymore. The can whine all they please.
What's so ridiculous was that they didn't even give the opposing side a chance to explain their views. They went for the R-Card.
It's too bad logic is rare.

Did i do something to warrant your stalking behavior?
I don't know if it matters, or will ameliorate you in any way, but i'm planning to stop commenting here more or less starting now. For reasons that have nothing to do with you. So if i annoy you, you're in luck - i'm on my way out regardless.
I'd just appreciate it if you didn't go around pretending to be me.

"Did i do something to warrant your stalking behavior?"
My apologies; didn't notice the steaming pile of shit lying.
That's what an all caps username does to you.
Pathetic.
What a pathetic piece of shit.
You slimy pile of shit, you wouldn't understand an "argument" if it were dismantled piece-by-piece and explained to you.
Take your pea-brain and go; fuck off.
For posterity, the pathetic turd had their comments eliminated.
