It's completely crazy for people of their means to fly coach across the country, let alone to Hawaii. But I've noticed, in my long and all-too-turbulent life, that people who are willing to do that sort of thing (and other "in your face" kind of stuff) frequently have a hard time drawing their own line in the sand. I've seen situations go from "hurtful words" to far more serious in mere moments, typically because the harasser is actually winding themselves up to the point where they go off like a mini-nuke.

Why is someone who makes, conservatively, between 3-10 million dollars a year licensing her name to a clothing and jewelry manufacturer, riding coach on JetBlue? This isn't even counting how much her hubby makes, or the security PITA it is having them mingle with a hundred or so people TPTB are not likely to be able to pre-screen.

The argument I've heard, when I was in a position to ask people who did fly charter, "Why the extra cost?" was that the saved time not dicking around with delays, boarding, luggage claim, etc---and this was pre-9/11---made up for the added expense. Surely that's even more true today?

No, I think it's much more likely this is a publicity stunt, either to reinforce the perception that though Trump is very wealthy, his children have humble, prudent values, and therefore, Trump is "just like you or me!" Or that the brouhaha from this will ease budget hawks' pain of learning how much Trump's family's future private charters will cost.

From what I briefly read, Ivanka's two companies, the jewelry company and clothing concern, earned about 100-125 million USD last year. Typical royalties for such a licensing deal, I've read, are about 3-5% of net sales. Ivanka is supposed to be much more hands-on than, say. Kevin Durant about his latest shoe, so maybe the rate's even higher.

Still, that's 3-7.5 million just this last year from licensing her name and know-how. Inflation is ridiculous, and undercounted by the CPI, but people with 3 million USD a year salaries don't typically fly coach.

Interesting that she has a detail, when AIUI, the SS doesn't provide them to adult children sans overt threat.

During the recount madness of 2000, I would see the SS agents here in Austin. Among other things, they barricaded all the streets around the Governor's Mansion and installed these spotlights that probably required an entire power plant for each one of them. With Warren as the driving force, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was created after the financial crisis in 2011 to shield consumers. The CFPB has since established itself as a powerful regulator, unafraid to take on big banks, shady payday lenders and everything in between.

Despite some recent successes, such as the Wells Fargo scandal, the CFPB now finds itself under siege.

Republicans have called for everything from eliminating the CFPB entirely to yanking the CFPB's funding or replacing its director with a bipartisan board.

The way it worked was that employees moved funds from customers' existing accounts into newly-created ones without their knowledge or consent, regulators say. The CFPB described this practice as "widespread." Customers were being charged for insufficient funds or overdraft fees -- because there wasn't enough money in their original accounts.

Additionally, Wells Fargo employees also submitted applications for 565,443 credit card accounts without their customers' knowledge or consent. Roughly 14,000 of those accounts incurred over $400,000 in fees, including annual fees, interest charges and overdraft-protection fees.

I'm not sure, but i don't think that was the case in the vast majority of instances.

The numbers don't really suggest that there was any significant consumer ripoff. They faked 2million accounts over 5 years, and the net estimated 'unjustified charges' to customers was less than $1 per account.

Authorities said about 2 million sham accounts were opened going back to 2011, complete with forged signatures, phony email addresses, and fake PIN numbers ? all created by employees who were hounded by supervisors to meet daily account quotas. The bank then charged customers at least $1.5 million in fees for the bogus accounts.

The hurt to the company, by contrast, in "unjustified bonuses" was in the many, many, many millions of dollars paid to employees.

Noted* = they fired 5000+ employees over the thing.... but the CEO herself and many senior execs also themselves received huge pay-bonuses as a result of the better-than-expected account generation, and of course kept all their own extra-pay.

Carrie Tolstedt, who oversaw the banking division responsible for the fake accounts, just left in July with a $125 million retirement package.

I am local law enforcement and 5 coworkers and I were told to leave by the general manager, Will, of your Tacoma Mall location, because 3 of us were wearing our badge, gun and were visibly identifiable as on duty law enforcement. We were told the guns are not allowed whether you are law enforcement or not, they are not welcome. Everyone in our party were extremely upset at the lack of support we received at this location. One of our group members informed her husband who immediately contacted the establishment and was eventually routed to Will who told him that corporate has a strict no gun policy and that no person carrying a firearm, to include on duty law enforcement, we're not welcome to eat there. When we walked in, no one in our group saw any sign that said no firearms allowed.
