Bill Weld Criticized by Warm-up Speaker, Heckled by Audience Member at Rally (UPDATE: Rhode Island L.P. Withdraws From Weld Rally)
"Just so the record is clear everybody, I endorse Gary Johnson," the Libertarian VP nominee says six days before election.

Turns out that when the vice presidential nominee of a political party goes out of his way to vouch for the (extremely dubious) honesty of the presidential nominee of a competing party one week before Election Day, his own team doesn't dig it so much. That's what would-be Libertarian veep William Weld discovered yesterday at a rally in Memphis, when he was called out by his own warm-up speaker:
"Bill Weld!" 32-year-old former soldier Cole Ebel shouted toward the end of a fiery anti-war speech. "We do not endorse Hillary Clinton or her foreign policies!"
Astonishing as it may sound, less than 130 hours before the first polls open, Gary Johnson's running mate felt compelled to say at his own rally, "Just so the record is clear everybody, I endorse Gary Johnson for president of the United States."
During the audience Q&A, a guy named Chad Chaderson said, "I enthusiastically supported Governor Johnson back in 2012, but after watching you perpetually defend and support Hillary Clinton I just wanted to say you're the reason why I'm not voting Libertarian this time, and I'm sick of it. So screw you. SCREW YOU!" You can watch the video here. (And now you can watch the whole rally here.)
According to The Commercial-Appeal's account, there were also shouts of "She's a war criminal! Stop lying!" Weld responded "Well, Gary and I have said we do not agree with Secretary Clinton's policies about Libya and Syria," and reportedly changed the subject.
UPDATE: The Libertarian Party of Rhode Island has withdrawn its support for a planned Weld rally this Friday in Providence. From its statement:
"The Libertarian Party of Rhode Island proudly espouses the fundamental Libertarian principles of maximum freedom and minimum government," said LPRI Chairman Pat Ford. "That's why it is particularly disturbing for us to witness the national Libertarian Party vice presidential nominee wage a quixotic campaign in support of a presidential candidate – not his party's candidate – whose personal and political philosophy are completely incompatible with fundamental Libertarian principles." […]
"There comes a time when compromise and accommodation have to stop, and you jump off the slippery slope to take a firm stand. This was not the easy choice to make, but it is the principled one."
The LPRI continues to embrace the presidential candidacy of Governor Gary Johnson.
"We are unequivocal in our belief that Governor Johnson represents the best choice of the candidates for President of the United States," said Chairman Ford. "And while, ironically, we agree with Bill Weld that Donald Trump is fundamentally unsuitable for high office, Hillary Clinton's record of deceit, failure, and questionable character make her equally unsuitable," Mr. Ford said.

He deserves every bit of it, and then some. In another age he'd be tarred and feathered.
What he deserves is to be prevented from ever getting anyway near the LP again, ever. It doesn't take many epic disasters like that to do great harm to a political movement. And the LP is barely even known yet.
First of all, Weld, if you don't want to say anything bad about your rivals, then just STFU about it and all is good. But what you did is unacceptable. Clinton is not honest or trustworthy by anyone's standards. Even most people who are going to vote for her admit she has a serious issue with honesty and trustworthiness. She's also, as was pointed out there several times to you, a war monger. War mongering is flat out NO with all libertarians. It's one of the few things we all agree on. It sort of violates the NAP you know. You probably don't even know what the means as you are by no ways whatsoever, a libertarian. Go back to Boston or whatever else deep blue shit place you're from and stay the fuck away from the LP.
What he deserves is to be prevented from ever getting anyway near the LP again, ever.
If that doesn't happen, something is seriously wrong.
My best friend's ex-wife makes $95/hr on the laptop. She has been unemployed for 6 months but last month her income with big fat bonus was over $15000 just working on the laptop for a few hours.

What he deserves is to be prevented from ever getting anyway near the LP again, ever.
I think that's absolutely guaranteed. He was barely picked for VP, tons of people weren't happy about it, and now people (like me) who were willing to overlook his flaws have had it with his bullshit. He couldn't get on the LP ticket for dogcatcher after this.
Agreed. However it continues to reflect poorly on Johnson that he hasn't cancelled Weld's appearances at rallys for the next week. If the LP was a real political party Weld would be handcuffed & gagged in the trunk of a car somewhere in DC for the next 6 days.
Now now. We're not Democrats who find kidnapping perfectly acceptable tactic. Rule of Law is what we stand for.
Public shaming and making sure he never comes near Libertarian events again- That's Libertarian!
While Weld's support for Clinton is unconscionable let's keep it all in context of all his endorsements. Here are a few other things he's vouched for:
Anthony Wiener's photography skills
Jeffrey Dahmer's tasty finger foods
Donna Brazile's integrity and fairness
Jared Fogle's babysitting skills
Iran's desire for peace
The Cleveland Brown's football acumen
Nick Gillespie wearing white after Labor Day
Bernie Sanders' economic feasability
Chris Christie's diet
I'm sure there are others that I failed to list.
*applause*
"What he deserves is to be prevented from ever getting anyway near the LP again, ever."
As if he cares about *that* - he probably wants at the very least to have the media give him a tongue-bath for being such a "statesman." He may even be looking for an ambassadorship or other concrete expression of gratitude from Hillary.
Well, Gary Johnson started it! He's the one who said "Hillary Clinton is a great public servant" last summer.
Don't blame Wee Willy for following in his boss' footsteps.
What he deserves is to be prevented from ever getting anyway near the LP again, ever.
What about the guy who was stupid enough to pick Weld as a running mate?
During the audience Q&A, a guy named Chad Chaderson
I laughed.
Also, Bill Weld's fricken ego has to go away.
Chad Chaderson
Yeah, that's got to be a fake name.
Pete Petersen wonders why you laughed....
Former Mariners GM Woody Woodard too

I knew a guy in the Marines named Larger. You generally don't know everyone's first names in the military. Everyone called him "Dick B", which I just assumed was a funny nickname......but later on I found out that, no, his parents actually named him Richard B. Larger.
His parents are the true heroes.
Hey, at least his surname wasn't Little.
I knew an insurance broker named Richard Little and he went by Dick. Every year this poor bastard had to stand in front of a room of plumbers and duct-men only to be laughed at for 5 minutes until my grandfather could settle all his employees down.
Good buddy of mine has last name Johnson. Named is son Maximus. He is going to love that when he is older. "Hello ladies, my name is Max Johnson..."

I wanted to be against Weld but I refuse to stand alongside a Chad Chaderson.
This guy is now my hero. If I could say screw you to Bill Weld's face, I would be so happy.
He should have come out and said directly that he was voting for TRUMP ... even if he was planning to vote Stein or stay at home.
That might get Weld to think about what he is doing.
Ironic that Weld's "vouching" for Clinton drives his own constituents into the arms of Trump. Fucking moron.
Maybe his plan? He's playing chess, while we're playing checkers?
Naw, I say crazy things sometimes.
Do you think they care at this point. William Weld was chosen for his fund-raising capability. Kinda like the Clinton Foundation.
I'm still voting for Johnson, but I'm no longer particularly happy about it. At this point my motivation is just to help maybe get that 5%.
The LP had opportunity cornered and in their sights, then let that mustached Nazi bastard dive dramatically out the window and into the night.
GO AHEAD, THROW YOUR VOTE AWAY. And even worse, you will help get the Trumputin elected! The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming!
Russian chicks are hot.
Just ask Matt Taibbi.
You don't like vodka?
that mustached Nazi bastard
You know who else..?
You hear about Johnny Weld? I heard he doesn't like books. Or juice.
Being squishy on 2A, he's probably opposed to the Sit-Down Gun, too.
Nobody likes the Sit-Down Gun, but sometimes there just isn't time for mucking about.
Julio Franco?
What the good Col. said.
I am voting for Ballot Access and Federal Funding for the Libertarian Party. (and yes I feel a bit queasy about about voting for federal funding of a political party, but I will indeed call the fire department if my house catches fire too)
And how do you respond to the argument that by doing so you are going to reward the LP for nominating candidates that are unfit to promote freedom and encourage it to keep doing so?
There's a bunch of Libertarians on the ballot here in Iowa. They deserve support.
As for the top of the ticket, one can only hope the delegates to the national convention learned their lesson this time around.
Nuh-uh.
Voting isn't the only way to encourage or discourage LP behavior. The party will be influenced next time around by all of the outrage Weld has inspired this year.
* and GayJay
My counter is that if the LP doesn't hit 5% they're just as likely to pick someone even more unlibertarian in desperation to hit that mark or bring in fundraising of the type Weld sold to them. Finding a source of money outside of selling out actually may open up better options for candidates.
how do you respond to the argument that by doing so you are going to reward the LP for nominating candidates that are unfit to promote freedom and encourage it to keep doing so?
HAHAHA. You sound like the LP of RI - "There comes a time when compromise and accommodation have to stop, and you jump off the slippery slope to take a firm stand.
Yes indeedy. Moving beyond 0.5% of the vote is a scary thang isn't it.
Johnson and Weld will be lucky to break 1%.
Maybe in RI - where they've never broken 0.5% before 2012. Nationwide I have no doubt that LP will break 3% and with a bit of luck 5%. It's kind of a shame that Johnson/Weld didn't seem to have a plan to stop the leakage once the 'throwing your vote away' stuff kicks in.
But:
a)2016 is easily the best election the LP has ever had - and
b)it doesn't matter what the actual vote is - the purists will stomp their feet and poop their pants and proclaim that the only way to get bigger is to get smaller and more intolerant and kick out the LINO's.
Remember that the money used for that funding is not actual tax money; it's the money from refunds that people voluntarily direct to campaign funding when they check off that box (or click that radio button or whatever if they're using software) on their 1040.
I'm back to blank voting. I mean there's my own special "cast blank ballot" button in the machine and everything!
I wish someone would print some 'Vacancy 2016' bumper stickers.
Jesus, you're just a tool of the party poobahs.
How sad. How very sad indeed.
Bill Weld is my hero. He is taking a principled stand for the country when so many others are rallying for the Trumpocalypse. I would gladly vote for him if not for Johnson. Instead I'm voting for Rand Paul. (And yes I'd vote for Hillary if I was in a swing state.)
Bill Weld is my hero.
Words no rational person has ever uttered.
Look at you!
Ferris Bueller you're my hero!
just change the h to a z and you've nailed it!
Shut up, Shreek, you lying sack of shit. You're voting for Hillary and you will admit as much and slobber all over her once she's elected, just like you did with Obama for the last 8 years.
OK Hype.
Do you know how much sorry-ass Weigel is freaking out right now? He knows there's a chance Hildog could actually lose! He's not even getting any sleep at night these days.
Hasn't it been said around here that Weigel is Shreek?
Just about as sure as Geld is a hilarious pejorative for William Weld.
Mikey believes that AddictionMyth/dajjal is shreek and that shreek is David Weigel. Never mind the utter lack of evidence for this assertion, aside from the fact that Mikey doesn't like them.
Whatever, Weigel.
Shut up, Tulpa!
^Weigel Tulpas above

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Tulpa.

One of the very few benefits of ObamaCare is that it covers mental health care for people like AddictionMyth.
Nothing can help shreek.
He had better sell millions and millions of copies of his shitty rock and roll book, but sadly for him I have a feeling that isn't very likely to happen.
Taking the less expensive penalty and out of pocket option.
"And yes I'd vote for Hillary if I was in a swing state."
Of course you would.
The esteemed (though I would prefer broiled) former governor of MA never took a principled stand on anything...like all pols of any flavor, they operate first & foremost on personal advantage (what's in it for me!)
Bill Weld is my hero? Jesus, Caitlyn Jenner is a better hero . .. . errr . . ..heroine . . . .
Since a vote for a presidential candidate is really a vote for a slate of electors pledged to him or her, voting for someone who is not actually a candidate, and has no slate of electors, is literally a non-vote that doesn't count. Are votes for such non-candidates even tabulated and published anywhere in your state? I can't say I know the answer to that question in mine (New York), but most likely no one will even see such a vote except the poll workers in your precinct. If your state is considered a "lock" for one major-party candidate or the other, then do what you want; I am voting for Johnson to help the LP get that magic 5.00 percent; you never know whose vote might push it over the threshold from 4.99 to 5.00 percent. If it isn't, then as you said...
He's coming here to KC tonight, at some crappy, unused venue. I'm tempted to drop in and go Chad Chaderson on his ass.
Do it. Make sure you introduce yourself as Bill Williams or Robby Robertson or something.
That better be Robbie Robertson of The Band fame you'd better be talking about.
Who? Oh, some old-guy musical act? What's your position on wooden nickels, Rufus?
For you younger folks, Rufus means Jim James of My Morning Jacket.
Tomorrow's headline "Phil Phillips Flips FuckYou Finger in Frustration."
Do it! But tell him that you're switching your erstwhile LP vote to DONALD TRUMP.
Do it, please. I'll give your next post after that, 3 likes and a smiley face if you yell 'Hey Weld, the entire commentariat at Reason sends a big fuck you, you traitorous scumbag!'.
"Comment-whatnow at where? "
Also try to start a chant: "Bill Weld step down!"
Excellent!
Make sure you give Billy Boy his #ImWithHer props.
Things that matter: Bill Weld's pointless ego, Anthony Weiner's tackle, the phrase "grab them by the pussy," and Utah.
You know, i've really come to hate 2016.
'tackle'?
I did not know A. Weiner enjoyed fishing.
He appear to really enjoy catfishing.
He's talking about his football skills.
As much as I've been down on Reason lately. I have to give props for this.
In any other partisan mag, the candidate can do no wrong and is immediately shielded from the fallout of the head-in-ass statements.
But here, Matt is walking point.
Matt's posted a couple of very solid articles criticizing Weld for this foolery and rightfully so. Anyway, I guess everyone eventually runs out of Trump material.
Haha! On Fifth Column Welch also dumps on Weld for being just like...
... Matt Welch for his TDS!
Weld, Welch. both squishes.
Kmele deftly puts Matt and Moynihan in their place, although they miss the point.
Matt's writings have been dripping with contempt, but he tries to be professional.
And, you know the drill. Reason is not affiliated with the LP, blah blah blah.
No, I think if Kaine all of a sudden decided that media is far too harsh on Trump, who is in fact a man of integrity, we'd hear something about it from Salon, Slate or NYT. Just a hunch.
Hear something about it? There would be a collective freak out such as never been seen before on this earth. There would be calls for him to step down and death threats.
Therein lies the rub:
Kaine is a True TEAM BLUE. Shrill-Bot would *NEVER* have to worry about Kaine going off script. Besides, there has been as unusually convenient death or two within the Clinton's Crime Circle (and the DNC not too long ago) over the last 30 years or so. I'm sure Kaine hasn't been allowed to forget about that...
Yes, the only Democrat who would possibly go off-script is Jim Webb, which is why they basically drove him out of the party.
A big problem for the LP and third parties in general is that they don't have a sympathetic media to spin their bullshit. The LP has Matt, and Matt is principled enough to report on the parties mistakes, and to criticize them as well.
For example, if the LP had media attack dogs like the two major parties, the Aleppo mess would have turned into a coordinated Mike Barnicle flogging, or something along those lines.
Mike Barnicle flogging
What Mike Barnicle does on his own time is his business.
Maybe Reason, instead of holding the Postrelian View that we are a bunch of incorrigible reprobates, hire some of us to be those attack dogs.
Even our more even tempered and milder of manner Commentariat could easily rhetorically wipe the floor with most of these media types.
Our attys alone (RC Dean, Pro'L Dib, Elspeth Flashman, RBS) could be absolutely devastating. Give Tonio a shot of vodka and a Bear chaser, then let him go all Cliff Clavin MEGA Tonio on their sorry asses.
Then our secret weapon: SugarFree. 'Nuff said.
Even Monte Crusto could use his mutant powers of indiscriminate preference charm to sweep many of these media talking heads off of their game.
My favorite SugarFree prose: Chris Christie, Lindsey Graham and some peach pie.
Capital "L" Libertarians:
Don't vote for these Republican-retread losers your party made the horrible mistake of nominating. VOTE TRUMP and stick it to the neocon globalist one-party state
I'm tempted, but no.
He lost me at "neocon globalist one-party state"... Have we figured out what disease SIV has yet?
"He lost me at "neocon globalist one-party state"
With Hillary in, and half the GOP willing to support her on everything war, that would look less and less like conspiracy theory and closer to reality by the day.
Maybe, but I don't see how Trump changes that equation. Nor do I understand how that'd be different than much that's gone on for a long time.
If anything, the ease with which Trump glides from being a Democrat to Republican, and how quickly he's accepted, really just proves that they're all more or less the same autocratic assholes with different labels.
He's got a case of the Wee Welds
Example A: Tom Nichols
He's got a severe case of trumpophilia, the worst I've seen.
Worse than Milo Y.?
is not has...
Have we figured out what disease SIV has yet?
Something mysterious contracted by being intimate with fighting roosters. Science is still studying it, and they will probably name it after him.
Yeah I didn't know Alex Iones commented hear.
Can a disease virus (Simian Immunodeficiency Virus) itself HAVE a disease?
I may indeed vote Trump just to piss Nick Sarwark off.
Oh, screw the "party" and your 5%, Nick!
I think I'm with Chad on this one. I understood and supported Johnson's desire to stay above the fray, but Weld's just ridiculous. There are ways to avoid piling on Clinton without offering her praise and support. "I'm focused on where Hillary's stance on the issues, not her character or personal life," or, "Those are matters for law enforcement and I'm confident that the FBI will conduct a thorough and fair investigation."
I like his use of the word "vouch" specifically, like Lefty from Donnie Brasco.
Because why even pretend that NYC-DC-CHI career politician pieces of shit like Bill Weld and Ma Clinton aren't a literal mafia-style organized crime ring.
Hah! Good catch. Anything that hints of organized crime is entirely appropriate with Hillary Clinson.
Surprised he didn't refer to her as a "Goodfella".
Next time Weld sees Hillary watch to see if he kisses her ring. If he does and she lets him it means he's getting made.
Question, how many packed enthusiastic rallies has Gary had, like Ron Paul had back in 2008? Yes, I know Ron was running as a Republican, but he sure did draw a lot of support from younger voters. I was working for a small private college at the time and there were Ron Paul stickers and posters all over the campus.
Paul was an honest, well established gentleman.
Johnson, much like Paul's son, is a squishy politician. Their type don't pack rallies without populist pandering.
Rand is both principled and pragmatic at the same time.
"In matters of style, swim with the current. In matters of principle, stand like a rock." - Thomas Jefferson
Johnson is a doofus who fancies himself some type of technocrat but really is just inept.
Agreed,
Rand Paul may not have run a great campaign but it was better than this clusterfuck. Also Rand Paul can actually talk to the media and Leftwing hacks without looking like a goofball: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBRlpzT5soc
Weld sucked from day 1. He's never been in any way, shape, or form a libertarian. Only suckers bought into the idea that his supposed fundraising prowess was worth the fact that his exit from the GOP was based not on a commitment to liberty but because he was essentially a moderate Democrat.
I decided not to vote for Johnson this time, one minute after they tagged Weld for the VP spot. When I first heard Gary talking him up, my thought was 'Who the fuck?'. So I immediately started vetting the guy and it didn't take long at all to figure it out. Guy's in no way a libertarian. So after the deal was done, I continued to observe the duo to see if they could change my mind. But they only proceeded to reinforce my original decision.
I switched my vote to Trump a couple of weeks back because I thought that the Libertarian Party was doing an awful job at promoting libertarianism, which was the main reason I planned to vote for them. In hindsight, I couldn't be happier in light of Weld's pivot towards Hillary.
"Chad Chaderson"
Now there's a good new handle.
Someone better grab it before it's gone. Maybe needs a little tweaking... 'Chad Chipinwood Chaderson'?
I, for one, would never do something like that.
It's the 2nd woodchipper indicent. Now everyone is going to have names like this. We won't be able to tell who anyone really is!!!
I'm actually Tulpa. But so are you, and we're all Weigel.
I thought we were all France.
-Francis Francisson
Who told you that, Charlie Charleston?
Except for Hihn. The whole comments section is just him arguing with a bunch of tulips sock puppets.
Seriously, what the fuck is he doing 'vouching' for an incompetent and wicked woman with low moral fibre and character while HE'S WITH THE LP on a progressive program?
Nuts.
Get lost Weld.
What made it worse, to me anyway, was the way he pretended that poor Hillary has no one defending her, and that he was bound by personal honor to "vouch" for her. Someone other than the DNC has to do it, dammit!
I kind of hope Kenny's speculations last night are correct; that Weld was bribed with an offer of an appointed office to turn coat. Because you know they aren't going to actually pay him off. What's he going to do, complain? Marshall his non-existent support base to go after the people who failed to pay what they promised him?
I hope he sold his already tarnished integrity for nothing.
Indeed. At least Judas was paid his silver. And he had the decency to be horrified at what transpired afterward.
Let's hope Weld has enough of a shred of decency left to follow his example.
"Seriously, what the fuck is he doing 'vouching' . . . ." Planning for that cushy ambassadorship with the Clinton Administration.
The thing is, if she actually could be credibly called honest in any sense of the word, you could chalk this up to Weld's honesty. But she's not honest in any sense of the word. Even Clinton devotees know it's her Achilles heel. It's such a ludicrous claim.
And this sort of bullshit is why you fail to appeal at all to anyone who wasn't going to vote LP anyway regardless.
Because simply saying, "but we've made statements saying "we disagree"!?" isn't campaigning against those policies, and speaking frequently and loudly about why those sorts of things are reasons NOT to vote for the other candidate.
It sounds like he thinks there's some middle ground he can occupy between agreement with Hillary Clinton, and outright opposition to her candidacy. Thats not how it works, Bozo.
You could put that statement after just about everything Trump, Clinton, Johnson, Weld, Kaine, Pence, etc, etc have said throughout the entire campaign.
They are all complete morons. All of them. May the spirits of Jefferson, Madison, and Henry torment them for the rest of time.
I'd like to encourage everyone outraged by Weld's antics and Gary Johnson's terrible judgement in promoting him to join me in writing in "None of the Above" on their ballots*.
Otherwise the LP will continue to promote people like him, and become more like the Republicans and Democrats whose misrule has brought us here. Johnson's poor judgement wasn't a surprise to anyone who read any one of the many articles Reason published on the LP nomination process. If the delegates who voted for him conclude their votes were not wasted, they will nominate similarly flawed people.
*Offer not valid in OK.
Voting NotA is a vote for Trump! (Unless you're in Chicago or Philadelphia. Then it, like all other votes, is tallied for Clinton.)
The LP didn't promote Weld. They didn't want him at all. They only voted for him as a compromise since Gary Johnson wanted him so desperately. If GJ wasn't the presidential nominee Weld wouldn't have stood a chance.
Neither voting for the LP nor refusing to vote for the LP does anything to influence the next presidential candidates. Do you think they have a large enough pool of people to pick and choose their candidates? All the people who ran only ran because they wanted to, not because the LP solicited them. And all of them were very flawed. The only way to get a better candidate selection is to go out and find them, hope they decide to run, or choose to run yourself. And refusing to vote LP sends no message to the LP at all since they can't see votes they didn't get.
Not available in OK, also 6 other states I think. When I moved to OK and learned this I was not happy. I've just left that spot blank. But this year I can vote for Johnson and his Hillary-affirming running mate. If I chose. I'm still on the fence.
Note =
Chad Chaderson Is Real
Well, as real as a facebook page gets.
"Just so the record is clear everybody, I endorse Gary Johnson..."
October surprise! Gary Johnson receives big endorsement from.... his vice presidential running mate.
How sad is it that that IS sort of surprising?
Nope. Weld's a drunk, Johnson's a doper, and between the two of them, they couldn't fart themselves out of a paper bag.
Fuck him
"Just so the record is clear everybody, I endorse Gary Johnson..."
When you feel have to state this as his running mate, there's a pretty good chance you fucked something up.
Good for the Rhode Island LP. Hopefully others follow their example.
I already though he was an asshat. Now he's being a condescending asshat.
I caused quite a conversation posting https://www.facebook.com/groups/garyjohnson2012/ permalink/10153887068547213/ :
"The LP and Johnson need to immediately instruct all LP electors to replace saboteur Weld with Austin Petersen "
Or suggest an alternative .
The path to the summit now requires that Gary & the LP show he can FIRE people when they more than deserve it . What's the point of voting for him otherwise ?
I am shocked, shocked! to learn that the libertarians don't agree on everything.
Weld may actually be worse that Hiltlary or Chump. He freaking endorsed Hillary, the most dishonest politician ever. What an idiot. Competition for victory ended long ago, but these knuckleheads don't present an alternative at all.
A vice president "endorsing" the top of the ticket on a public stage less than a week before the election. Yes, that will win voters.
You don't see Tim Kaine saying that Jill Stein would be an acceptable alternative if Clinton can't win. That's not how a campaign works. No one working for the candidate should leave an impression ib any potential voters that voting for anyone other than OUR guy is even remotely acceptable.
But if Kaine did say that, at least it wouldn't be fatal to Clinton. The LP is supposed to be an alternative to the two parties. Weld sapped the ticket of much of its purpose with his ill advised move. "I endorse my guy, but Clinton is also qualified!" Gee, what does that say to reluctant democrat Johnson supporters who are disturbed by Trump's rise?
I think Bill Weld figured out that he actually has a shot a political career, while Johnson's ship has almost completely sunk thanks to his dope fiend image. As Trump would day, sad!!!!!

You know, what's interesting about this election, from the libertarian perspective, is watching all of the libertarians, who constantly complain about Republicans and Democrats selling out their beliefs for marginal and compromised candidates, rationalize their own vote for arguably the two most compromised candidates the Libertarian Party has ever put on a ballot...in the hopes that it will allow the LP earn minor party status.
You're voting for a guy who abandoned libertarianism for squish progressivism and his Clinton mole running mate in the hopes of getting welfare payments from the federal government. You're part of the "free shit" crowd now. At this point you might as well just vote for whoever promises to grow the welfare state the most and stop pretending you're voting on any kind of principle.
Johnson would do himself and the libertarian party a favor by at least denouncing Weld's statement since it is too late to dump him outright. I was skeptical of Weld from the start, now he is making me waiver in my support of Johnson. But I will still vote for the libertarian party and platform for now.
