Student Arrested for Wearing Gorilla Mask to Black Lives Matter Rally, Claremont Cancels Speedo-Bikini Hike: Special College Edition P.M. Links

-
Bowie15 Police arrested an East Tennessee University student who wore a gorilla mask to a Black Lives Matter rally. The student was handing out bananas and trying to provoke event participants (this was not, as I initially suspected, some kind of pro-Harambe thing). Note that the rally took place in the campus's "free speech" area. According to video footage of the incident, the BLM folks left the student alone, but somebody else called the police. The student was charged with "civil rights intimidation," which seems very concerning from a First Amendment perspective.
- California Gov. Jerry Brown signs the so-called Brock Turner bill into law, creating mandatory minimums for sex crimes.
- Mizzou suspended a fraternity because some members were suspected of yelling racial slurs at a group of black women. But the police report from the altercation suggests to me that the fraternity members didn't actually do anything wrong, and some of the black women were themselves quite hostile.
- Claremont calls off its annual Speedo / bikini hike because the event was deemed "non-inclusive" toward people who aren't in good physical shape.
- The University of Michigan's pronoun policy has backfired in spectacular fashion.
- Northern Michigan University backs down: students can discuss self-harm without fear of being disciplined.

CAUSAL FRIDAY
Hello.
Okey-doke.

Friday caused Soave to slack, not for you to drop your slacks.
No no, you're thinking of casual Friday.
This is causal Friday, where we discuss Deism and metaphysics.

I think Robby is a follower of "If I do a job badly, they'll stop asking me to do it" school of link posting.
^This.
That's something I can at least respect.
These links are fine. It's fine.
That hot sarcasm needs more wasabi.
"It's terrible, and it's fine."
Robby, these links are alt-right with me.

But not alt-text!
Hey, one of the links has more than one complete sentence. That sounds like he's stepped his game up to me.
I really like what Robby does. Leave him alone!
And Brittney, too.

Even self discipline?
What's a guy gotta do to get disiplined around here

Oh I wasnt awear it was tgat eesy.
But the police report from the altercation suggests to me that the fraternity members didn't actually do anything wrong, and some of the black women were themselves quite hostile.
But what did the fraternity do to make them hostile?
exist.
But what did the fraternity do to make them hostile?
Having penises and being (I assume) mostly white?
Breathing while white. Yes, black people had a shitty time of it in the past, but no matter how many white people you intimidate isn't going to erase that. And if you need to oppress others to make yourself feel better, then you're just a psychopath.
I can't get past the fact that there is a "Legion of Black Collegians" housed in the "Black Culture Center". I swear this country is more obsessed with race than at any time in my 4+ decades.
Yup.
And to think many people voted for Obama thinking that we'd become a 'post-racial society'.
Oops.
We are post-racial. Society is now race-obsessed.
"Legion of Black Collegians" sounds like a third rate Warhammer 40k Chaos Space Marine chapter.
Blood for the aww fuck it.
Is there a Legion of Substitute Black Collegians?
Welcome to post-racial America.
That should be rubbed in the faces of every Obumbles voter at every opportunity from now until the day the idiots die.
This is the worst excuse ever. And it will probably work.
Possibly true, actually, but she still didn't have a goddamn reason to shoot the guy.

So being temporarily deaf made the gun go off? I don't get the connection nor how that's a defense.
I think the claim is that she didn't hear the other cops who had arrived on the scene and thought she was alone in dealing with a "bad dude" who was "clearly on something" or some such horseshit.
Uh, her partner was right there, too.
The condition, sometimes called "auditory exclusion," happens when people in high-stress situations tune out noises around them
Further evidence that this woman had no business being a cop in the first place if she gets so panicky and stressed that she suffers from "auditory exclusion" when placed in the kind of high stress situation that a cop might face on any given day.
"Shelby was so hyper-focused before and during the Sept. 16 shooting that she didn't hear other officers arrive on the scene ? or even the deadly gunshot she fired."
Exactly what I thought. She panicked and her frontal cortex shut down. She was operating on lizard brain (no offense Mr. Lizard). The instant that happened it was a certainty she was going to shoot. Any stimuli at all that triggered a possible threat to her lizard brain and she was going to shoot it.
These are the people who have no business walking around with a gun and a badge.

Why Clinton Must Woo Weld
Has the trade deadline past? Do the Dems even have a libertarian to offer in exchange or would this trade be for a future draft pick?
The comments weren't as one-sided as I was expecting.
My favorite bit of votesplaining: If you have to hold your nose to vote, you are doing it wrong.
Woo weld?!? These euphamisms
WOO WOO
That's what will get all the Millennial voters to jumpship; they'll follow the Weld anywhere!
I am OK with giving them Weld if it means we get a libertarian to run with Johnson.
Apparently everything worth knowing this week happened on a college campus.
And they want to know why your tuition check is late.

Claremont calls off its annual Speedo / bikini hike because the event was deemed "non-inclusive" toward people who aren't in good physical shape.
Seemed to be a club voluntarily being asinine, so the outrage isn't there.
I would suggest they hand out the Oculus Rifts and then even the couch potatoes can participate in a VR hike, but then you've got the blind and the crippled and the agoraphobics to contend with. Not to mention the billions of people who don't even go to Claremont that will feel left out.
Jerry Skids speaks the truth. Why even have college at all since some people don't have the mental capacity to comprehend the material being taught there?
Why even have college at all since some people don't have the mental capacity to comprehend the material being taught there?
Why are colleges allowed to be exclusionary by not admitting people regardless of their mental capacity? RETARDS DESERVE A COLLEGE EDUCATION TOO!
Actually, they probably do admit people regardless of mental capacity. It would explain a lot.
Retarded people do go to college. I mean certified, developmentally-disabled students who were in special education for K-12 go to actual college.
And here I always thought he was Jerry's Kids. Thanks for the clarification.
the event was deemed "non-inclusive" toward people who aren't in good physical shape
The campus will also be calling off all dancing in what will be known as the 'Footloose Gambit'.
Dating will have to be curtailed as well.
Forget about 'Netflix and chill' too.
Republicans who vote for Johnson are really voting for Trump
A Republican tells other Republicans to vote for Gary, which means those votes are for Trump?
We've reached DERPCON 4
If the left is telling us that a vote for GarJo is a vote for Trump, and the right is telling us that a vote for GarJo is a vote for Hillary, does that mean that it cancels itself out to the point where a vote for GarJo is just a vote for GarJo?
It means people think Clinton is going to lose.
How soon until Clintonistas start saying "Not voting is a vote for Trump!"?
This weekend? I think things have shifted against her in a very decisive way. They are starting to panic and probably with good reason.
The polling isn't looking as good today :/
I believe Donna Brazile said that on CNN yesterday. Not joking.
Obama has said it too. This derpiness is getting serious:
"President Barack Obama on Wednesday warned Americans against staying at home on Election Day, saying such a move would be a boon for Donald Trump. "If you don't vote, that's a vote for Trump," Obama said during an interview on "The Steve Harvey Morning Show" broadcast Wednesday. "If you vote for a third-party candidate who's got no chance to win, that's a vote for Trump.
http://www.politico.com/story/.....iew-228837
It's good that everybody is voting for Trump.
We Americans have been a disappointment to Obama. Hillary would only be even more disappointed in us.
http://nypost.com/2016/09/18/i.....r-clinton/
None of us were ever good enough for The Lightbringer.
What the hell is a sitting US president doing on a show hosted by Steve Harvey? Is he going to make a cameo on Jersey Shore next week?
Wendy Williams was already booked solid?
Probably means that votes for Johnson are really votes for Stein
On Hate Radio on the way home from work tonight, the host was almost hysterical about the Tribune endorsement. "Cowardly! Racist! Two-faced!" And he was just getting warmed up. "How DARE the newspaper that represents this city spit in the faces of our minority population like this! They have painted a target on the back of every black and Hispanic resident!"
It was hilarious and delicious. He actually started doing a literal pounding of the table.
BTW, did you know that the Koch Brothers, for whom GJ is a ":wet dream," have sunk a billion dollars into Libertarian races this year?
The lefties have their own hate radio? I thought Air America folded
Progressive Talk Radio (in Chi-town, it's WCPT). They have a series of dummies, the stupidest being Thom Hartmann. This particular guy on my afternoon drive is Chicago-based, and is essentially a Michael Savage of the left.
Then I'll just vote for Trump then. I'll vote for Hitler before I'll vote for Clinton.

It's Not Okay. NONE OF THIS IS OKAY.
Aren't we trying to get rid of mandatory minimums? Haven't we proven time and time again that they do nothing but fuck everything up and don't lead to actual justice?
Drafting laws based on feels is a terrible idea.
I have a lawyer friend who had a bit of involvement in the Brock Turner case. Turns out it was nowhere near the way it got painted in the press (who would have guessed?), and the legal punishment he got was likely appropriate, in my friend's view.
But of course, you can't tell that to the screamers everywhere, and now as a result, we'll likely see 18-year-old guys soon doing hard time for fooling around with their 17-year-old girlfriends. Mandatory minimum, sorry!
Brock Turner. I love that name.
Brock Turner. Man of men.
Do you love it more than Haven Monahan ?

All laws named after somebody are a bad idea. This one is no different.

"Having had this office has given me this incredible perch from which to see how the world works. The power of the office is unique and it is a humbling privilege," Obama said. "With that power, however, also comes a whole host of institutional constraints. There are things I cannot say. There are things that..."
In other words, once he's out of office he's going to say those things and try to keep himself in the news.
And the shits in the media will keep him in the news.
We're gonna see the true Obama once and for all. It may still end up good for us.
Spiderman said the same thing.
Whiny navel-gazing little web-spinner is always grousing about his 'great power-great responsibility' BS.
I prefer Tony Stark in the last Avengers' mashup calling him "Underoos", that seems more on target for Spidey-snowflake.
No, and I fully expect he will fuck things up often. It's not hard to foresee a President Clinton or Trump manage to negotiate some sort of agreement with Russia that nobody likes but everybody can live with and have Obumbles wreck it by going on Trevor Noah's show and talking about what a treacherous cocksucker Putin is, or see him fly in to after some racially charged incident and make a bad situation worse by giving an Al Sharpton-type speech with the gravitas of America's First (Half) Black President behind it.
"There are things I cannot say."
Fuck it, I say.
If I was a president with no decent legacy I'd use my last day in office to pardon every nonviolent criminal AND reveal every single government secret that seemed shady.
Go out with a bang and be remembered forever as that crazy president who lost his mind and actually enacted a transparent government on his last day in office.
He probably has to pardon them one at a time, and that sounds like work.
The student was handing out bananas and trying to provoke event participants (this was not, as I initially suspected, some kind of pro-Harambe thing).
I don't know what's more provocative than Harambe.
So the kid didn't have his dick out?
The only thing more provocative than Harambe is Harambe wearing a Pepe the Frog mask.
A gorilla mask with an Hawaiian shirt and beach hat is always in fashion.
"County clerks are complaining that a crowded ballot of presidential candidates in Colorado is complicating the process and leading to voter confusion....
"What could have been an 11-inch ballot in La Plata County, turned into an 18-inch ballot, explained Clerk and Recorder Tiffany Parker....
""It's more costly, it's very confusing to voters ... We know these candidates aren't going to be able to be president of the United States, it's just not going to happen," Parker said."
h/t Ballot Access News
11 inches is a lot, 18 is way too much. Or so I've been told.
I wouldn't be surprised if the ballot I'll be handed in November is that big.
We used to have voting machines with levers, but now we get an OCR/scanner type thing that requires us to fill in bubbles. Except that we get an actual paper ballot with the names of the candidates next to the appropriate bubbles to fill in, and the ballots could be counted by hand if need be.
It's probably the least bad situation after the way FedGov fucked up voting procedures with HAVA.
I'v been informed that the size of the waves isn't as much of an issue as the motion of the ocean.
I'm sure the guy who got his dick stuck in his wedding ring will be glad to hear that
Oh the humanity! Will no one lsten to the county clerks!
No one needs 22 choices for president when there are kids starving in this country!

U.S. considers military options in Syria
Noted = never in any reporting on this stuff does anyone ever ask "Why" we need to have "options" at all, or what exactly the US interests are in 'other people's civil-wars'
The analyst there makes some insane comment re: how the US might "shoot cruise missiles' in order to try to get various parties "back to the negotiating table"
Because that's how you promote a cease fire = interject yourself and shoot missiles at people.
Because there is a humanitarian crisis in Syria and we have an obligation to make it worse.
From what I can tell, the civil war in Syria has ended everywhere in the country except Aleppo.
No mention in the news on hostilities anywhere else in the country. Only Aleppo. Aleppo.
I wonder why all the news about Syria only deals with Aleppo?
True story:
Not long ago, just before the time of Gary Johnson's Aleppo gaffe, my wife was listening to a radio news report about leprosy when she was briefly interrupted. When she came back to the news, there was a story about Aleppo, which she had never heard before. She thought the radio guy was talking in rude slang about someone with leprosy, referring to them as "A Lepo".
Now, of course, whenever I hear about Syria, I'm picturing some poor guy covered with leprosy lesions.
Your wife and my wife should get together.
Go on...
"Create a desert and call it peace" worked for 500 years...
It made that Bin-Laden guy stop his shenanigans when Clinton did it back in the 90's. Oh, wait....
The funny thing is cruise missiles aren't going to scare anyone, no going in and dropping a handful of MOAB's in uninhabited areas just outside of but within view of major cities followed by dropping leaflets saying the next ones come with nuclear fallout might get some peoples attention but you still havn't answered the relevant question of whether this is any of our business.

"Voter Fraud is a Conservative Lie" Proven False Yet Again [Warning: video auto-plays if you mouse over it]
It appears that some university student "community organizers" registered a bunch of people to vote including a recently-deceased local politician. Oops. And kudos to the JMU student newspaper "The Breeze" for bringing this to light, apparently scooping the mainstream media.
The shitweasel response:
Mmmmkay...so why go to the trouble of registering them?
Why should anyone be registering anyone else to vote in the first place?
You know, if gun registration is as thorough as voter registration, maybe we should just throw the left a bone and let them have their pony. You could register your assault rifle (the one with the thing that pops up) as a small revolver belonging to your neighbor's deceased uncle.
Were they getting paid by the head?
"Mmmmkay...so why go to the trouble of registering them?"
They are filling out absentee ballots and mailing them in. Had they gotten away with it I bet every envelope containing a ballot would have a postmark from the same post office on the same day.
With lefties you can be sure of this: If they deny they are doing something, they are doing it. If they accuse their opponents of something shady, they are doing exactly that themselves.

Well at least the rise in ocean temperatures has been explained now.
What these fucking liars and cons don't want people to know is that ocean floors are covered with incalculable amounts of methane in the form of clathrite, a methane/water complex formed under high pressure and low temperature. Any change in those conditions, which happens naturally all the time, causes the solid clathrite to rapidly decay back to gaseous methane and liquid water. The source of the methane is rotting organic material which has sunk to the bottom of the ocean.
The ocean naturally produces more methane in a day than all of mankind does in a year. This has been known for many decades, yet these morons are just now finding out about it? How is it these fucksticks have any credibility at all?

Point for discussion: Can totalitarianism ever be well-intentioned?
I'd say it almost always is. Or at least sold that way.
The people selling it -- usually the ones who would be the totalitarians -- claim to be well-intentioned, but I submit that they aren't.
100%
Not towards the dissenters.
That's what they get for working against the forces of good.
"The problem with the other origin of the "good," of the good man, as the person of ressentiment has thought it out for himself, demands some conclusion. It is not surprising that the lambs should bear a grudge against the great birds of prey, but that is no reason for blaming the great birds of prey for taking the little lambs. And when the lambs say among themselves, "These birds of prey are evil, and he who least resembles a bird of prey, who is rather its opposite, a lamb,?should he not be good?" then there is nothing to carp with in this ideal's establishment, though the birds of prey may regard it a little mockingly, and maybe say to themselves, "We bear no grudge against them, these good lambs, we even love them: nothing is tastier than a tender lamb."
How can one extract "good intention" from "force people to act against their own consciences"? The premise is inherently ill-intentioned. It's flummoxing that anyone could arsk such a question...
Plus it's one of the most diabolicly monstrously evil expressions of human destructiveness and baseless cruelty. If totalitarianism can at any time be honestly seen as "well-intentioned", then even more certainly must child-rape and sadistic torture and fraud at times be even more well-intentioned.
In case you're wondering, I made the comment on this thread that "totalitarianism can never be well-intentioned", and somebody responded, "where to even begin".

Basically, casino pit bosses never questioned some asian kid coming and dropping $5000 every hand, because it was just kind of assumed that rich asian kids had parents who had shady backgrounds you didn't want to ask too much about.

I suspect everyone deals with it because sometimes you look up at a 19 year old and at that moment, everything seems right in the world.
"My personal pronoun is 'cunt'. Say it. SAY IT!"
... soon to be included in the list of words that constitute a hate crime
New York City's Next Giant Boondoggle
Because the 2nd avenue subway isn't enough; i expect this thing won't actually be finished for 20 years, and will make the Big Dig look like Operation Quick 'n Easy.*
*points to anyone who recalls the Simpson's reference.
California Gov. Jerry Brown signs the so-called Brock Turner bill into law, creating mandatory minimums for sex crimes.
Good to see Dems tout their tough-on-crime bona fides.
Happy Friday, everyone.
Offshore Wind Farms See Promise in Platforms That Float
I care about the environment, but not if it will ruin my few off the Vineyard.
And the bad part:
WETO at DOE.
+1 Ted Kennedy whine.
Will no one think of the seagulls?
And will the electricity transmission lines be floating to shore as well? Or will the electricity be stored in large jugs to be hand-transported by sailboats to shore?
Leyden jugs for the win.
All of that is under the water, I believe. It is fascinating technology - and apparently it works well (or fairly well) off the coast of Japan - it just has very expensive upfront costs.
Yes -- I was more making light of the idea that the faraway floating wind farms would be 'less disruptive to marine life' than the fixed near-shore wind farms. I'd think that the additional miles of transmission lines' disruption to marine life would likely more than make up for the lack of a fixed site's foundation.
Oh. Carry on.
A fixed foundation does affect marine life...positively. It creates a reef, shelter for all kinds of critters.
They should be combo generation platforms.
Wind and waves. If they are gonna be anchored offshore the up and down motion of the waves should be captured also.
Just don't put any down here in the Gulf of Mexico because hurricanes.
They should all be stationed off of Martha's Vineyard.
All this ugly green energy should be built near poor people. *polishes monocle*
+1 Ted Kennedy
From Robbie's first item: I have noticed that people have started using the term "concerning" when it seems they should be saying "of concern" or "disconcerting". Is it just me or have others noticed it as well?
Yes. And I don't like it.
I find it concernable
So problematic
I'm going to punch the next person I meet who uses "ask" as a noun.
I'll have you know that I tried to conceive sentence using ask as a noun just to piss you off but I couldn't get off in time to do it.
you need better porn or better technique.
"strangely, it hasn't been much highlighted since the presidential election began"
Benghazi Violence Has Been Escalating For Over a Year
Given that Obama expressed such dismay about having mucked up Libya, you'd think he'd be just as concerned with attempting some diplomatic efforts to "fix" the situation there.... but instead its, "forget the past things we fucked up, let's look at new things to get involved with".
Because we shouldn't dwell on failures, lest it undermine faith in the present.
That goddamn YouTube video!
WHAT CAN'T IT DO?
CIA and Special Ops are there as advisors, Gil. Secret wars are the way to go.
Khalifa Hifter
Do you worst, commentariat.
Mom was not a spelling Wiz?
Nevermind.
They told me if I didn't vote for Obama our foreign policy would be to support a bunch of Hifters overseas. And they were right.
Hillary supporters continue to argue that her ability to convince Obama to go into Libya is what of her great accomplishments.
Trump did have audio mic issues during debate, commission says
But did the mic contribute to The Donald being The Donald?
The mic told him to randomly insult Rosie O'Donnell during a presidential debate.
Prudence tells one to do that. It doesn't require a faulty mic.
I thought that was the the hat.
The mic kept firing cocaine up his nose?
I don't know why that picture was used, and I don't care.
It's Robby fat-shaming any potential visitors of the website a la the Speedo/bikini hike.
Thong and bikini theme for body-shaming link, that someone didn't get a hat tip on.
Stuff I'm Listening To:
- BADBADNOTGOOD's entire catalogue so far
canadian jazz guys who remake hiphop tunes. not nearly as gay as that sounds.
- Everything Edwin Birdsong ever did, all of which is... batshit
He has been sampled by everyone over the last 30 years, but its amazing how everything that has sampled him sounds dated now, while the originals don't. He's the only person about whom you can describe as "Avante Garde Disco", and not mean it as a joke or an insult.
African and Brazilian soul/disco from late 60s/early 70s. Bananas. Mostly looking for samples.
What I'm listening to RIGHT THE FUCK NOW.
that's funny, that same thing has popped up in my recommended feed many times. I subscribe to LombardMod which covers all that "Mod-Jazz" stuff
If you like that kind of stuff, I STRONGLY recommend a movie called Thick as Thieves-- and make sure you get the 1999 one with Alec Baldwin-- there's another movie of the same name which I know nothing about.
It's a very obscure movie that few have seen and is quite possibly one of the more underrated comedies in memory.
I think that modern audiences like comedy films that are FUNNY!!!! whereas this movie is Funny.
It has excellent characters and top notch dialog, but it's method and delivery is very subtle, something that takes-- in my opinion-- real skill to write effectively.
Baldwin plays a professional thief who's obsessed with 60s Mod Jazz and if you go on them internets, one of the most common discussion threads on the movie is "Where in HELL can I get the soundtrack?!!"
A lot of the songs are hard to find even on youtube.
*not necessary, but not all those links are "60s/70s". just most of the stuff i happen to be scouring is.
Girl in that bikini. Holy shit I would. And by 'would' I mean chain her up in my basement and sire upon her a race of blonde hair blue eyed supermodels to take over the fashion industry.
What makes you think entering your genes into the equation would improve the situation?
I have a proven track record of producing children that Hitler wouldn't kill.
The joke's on you! That's Buffalo Bill wearing his skin suit.
I'll put the lotion in his or her basket anytime.
Trump and Clinton Deep-Dish Pizzas Offered in Chicago
Giordano's has found a way to combine two of Chicago's pastimes: politics and deep-dish pizza.
The New Atheists started out well by bashing Christianity, but then then they had to go and beat up on Islam
I know Eddie gets all kind of shit, but he's not exaggerating or being sarcastic. Any connoisseur of derp owes themselves to read that link. It is a magnificent example of single-minded stupidity trampling everything standing in its way to Fullretardsville.
Any atheists who unironically uses the term 'Islamophobia' is to be disregarded immediately as a joke who doesn't understand their own position (this also applies to Marxists, funny enough).
Thank god all the children are here to hear authentic frontier derp.
Wow, they're bragging about Democrats voting in favor of the Iraq War and the Patriot Act while haranguing Hitchens for being a neocon. That's some mighty fine cognitive dissonance there, Lou.

So glad I took up squirrel hunting last summer.
Squirrel season opens here tomorrow morning. School was out today. Half of the businesses in the parish were shut down.
Clearly Reason isnt the only site suffering from squirrel mayhem.
I don't believe in supreme beings, but I'm unwilling to use the term "atheist" because of stupid shit like this.
There probably are a few instances where church and state could be more separate than they are, but I'm hesitant to get involved with any atheistic movement simply because most of them are complete fascists who believe in no freedoms except having abortions and gay marriages. At this point, I'd sooner tolerate mandatory prayer in public schools than some of the totalitarian crap that most "atheist" groups propose.
Ditto. I usually go with agnostic.
From the Huffington Post
"...the [U.S] commission [on Civil Rights] has put out a report that ultimately came down on the side of those who believe religious exemptions have the potential to "significantly infringe" on a person's civil rights....
"The commission advocated for a return to looking at exemptions as a way to protect religious beliefs, rather than religious conduct...."
"People who aren't in good physical shape" sounds very judgmental and othering on Claremont's part.
Especially considering that "round" is a shape.
(did I steal that from Dilbert?)
I think that came from "Raising Arizona".
and a very good shape at that!
Miss Universe?
Miss Universe?
Here's one the more misleading headlines I've seen recently. What a disappointment to learn it means Georgia.
"The student was charged with "civil rights intimidation,"
Just like the NBPs were back in 2012(?) in Philidelphia when they intimidated white voters with nightsticks, threats and racial epithets?
Some talking head dude on Fox's "The Five" was wondering why the Chicago Trib would endorse Gary Johnson even though he just demonstrated "he couldn't name one foreign leader." Talk about media dishonesty.
"Civil rights intimidation" can't possibly be a law on the books anywhere. Can it?
Apparently it is in Tennessee:

Tenneseeing, is Tennebelieving
Needz moar lobster.
Lobster- with a side of boob.
OT: There's a biological female inmate at the prison (doing 22 years on an aggravated arson charge) who, for the past several years, has been attempting to get hormone treatment to become a man, or somewhat less of a woman, or something like that. She is in contact with some LGBTXYZ rights group and their lawyers. She's also in correspondence with a male inmate at another prison who is trying to become a woman; he has been coaching her about how to get the prison authorities to give hormone replacement therapy.
She was out in the waiting area when her therapist walked by, and the inmate said something about a new development in her case, and she called the male inmate "he... I MEAN, she!"
I just thought it was funny that even transgender people themselves are prone to bungling up the wonky pronoun demands.
"Claremont calls off its annual Speedo / bikini hike because the event was deemed "non-inclusive" toward people who aren't in good physical shape."
Does this mean all races and competitions should now be called off because they're "non-inclusive" toward people who aren't very good at physical (or mental?) activity?
