Colorado Libertarian Lily Tang Williams Will Make the Debates After All
Instead of falling 0.023 percentage points short, the U.S. Senate candidate has just squeaked past the requirements

Last week I wrote about how Lily Tang Williams, the Libertarian Party nominee for the U.S. Senate in the state of Colorado, had been barred from participating in a Sept. 10 senatorial debate because the L.P. fell 0.023 percentage points short of the required 1 percent party-registration threshold established by the event organizers. Well, according to The Colorado Independent, those same organizers, from the nonprofit Western Colorado booster group called Club 20, have confirmed just today that new voter-registration figures have brought the Libertarians across the finish line after all. "This could be a game changer," Williams told the Independent.
Does this mean there's hope on the national level for Gary Johnson after all? Probably not. But as Jesse Walker pointed out earlier today, Colorado is one of 15 states where the L.P.'s presidential nominee is polling above 15 percent.

Luv the pic:)
Me too.
I am thrilled!
You guys and your weird Asian fetish.
She's Asian?
Sensibly dressed woman with gun was enough for me.
Well, I'm Asian too. 🙂
I'm attracted to her in a platonic, political-views-only way. Nothing else.
INDIA ISN'T WHAT ANYBODY MEANS BY ASIAN AND EVERYBODY KNOWS IT
But for real, it has the greatest food in the world.
Especially if you like orange gunk with pieces of potato, tiny beans and chunks of chicken with more bone than meat, you'll be in seventh heaven.
It's the only "type" of food that makes vegetables palatable to me, so I eat a lot of it.
Indian food or "Asian" food?
Siberians are Asians.
In England it's pretty much all they mean when they say "Asian."
That's why we broke away from them. Because they are stupid and wrong when it comes to the demographics they picture when using the word, "Asian".
It's like they haven't heard that having an Asian fetish is so three years ago.
Now, a black woman? Mmmm
What's so weird about it?
Thank you, Ted.
She's indexing correctly.
Got my vote, just for that.
^This. Someone of who I thought better did tracked the muzzle of a pistol across my chest recently. It wasn't threatening, just someone who didn't know (care?) enough to point at the ceiling or floor while doing that.
Is dropping a post right before the p.m. links the equivalent of the White House dumping some news on Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend?
Oh, before I forget, google "Kathryn Delong", that is the droid you were looking for.
Shit , I don't remember what I had for breakfast, let alone what I was asking for last goddamn week.
Since PM linx ain't been posted yet,... No?
/5/17; Never Forget!
*thumbs up*
It's more to give us a fresh thread on which to comment, knowing that Rico is going to be late with the links again.
Wow, you must be psychic!
*glances at clock, sees that Tonio was correct* I assume your prescience in this matter is somehow tied to your sexual preferences.
That, sir, shall have to remain a mystery.
This is 'Tang that even our homo brethren can get behind?
Thanks for that, Bob. I thought I was going to have to make the 'Tang joke.
Back when she was a devout National Lampoon subscriber, the candidate went by
Lily "Love the 'Poon" Tang
Robby is predictable.
I bet you were that kid who ruined all the magic tricks for the rest of the kids.
Busted. Even if I didn't know how they were done, I knew they were trickery and not magic.
After reading her platform on her website, I now sexually identify as a Lily Tang Williams.
She's a gun-toting, personally pro-life Buddhist. I'm liking her.
Damn.
Tonio, I have the same platonic, political-views-only attraction for you too, bro!
Thanks, Injun, me too!
I believe the accepted formulation is "My current sexuality: Lily Tang Williams"
Which replaces the ever offensive "I'd totes go gay for Lily Tang Williams"
But would you go straight for Lily Tang Williams?
Not with those bangs.
If you're checking her hair-style, your conversion needs some work.
Your notion of binary sexual orientations is archaic and oppressive, oppressor.
But sure, why not. It's not like I can turn my gold star in for anything.
You're one of those? Respect. But it's way more common with you younger 'mos than us oldsters for whom a bit of gynecological exploration was pretty obligatory.
I dunno, I think there was a brief window where it was common but now younger folks seem to be way more omnisexual than they were when I was in HS.
At this point I think it's more laziness than opposition. Who wants to go through the whole "Hey I have only a theoretical knowledge of the clitoris and sex with me will be fumbling, bad and I'm not interested in sticking around for more than a one-off" song and dance when I can just go and be good at what I already know.

Sounds like a front for Clinton Foundation.
Yeah, why isn't she the LP candidate for president?
Something, something, Johnson, something?
She grew up under Mao. She'd be worth voting for just for surviving.
Damn. And the progs will hate her all the more for that.
The Great Debate Wall of Colorado has been breached.
She wants to ban post-viability abortions
...and it seems this would include banning abortion when the baby can survive outside the womb with "technological help."
My orphan cyborg army can artificially-respirate easier now.
Of interest, perhaps:
The age of viability has been pretty much plateaued for decades now, somewhat to my surprise, at around 22 weeks (depending on the odds of survival you need to say "yep, viable").
Personally, I think its the place to land for abortion regulation. If you can't be arsed to get an abortion before then, well, you had your chance, and the argument for personhood is better grounded at the age of viability anyway.
I don't see a difference between killing a 26 week old fetus in the womb, and killing a 26 week preemie in the NICU. If the preemie is a person, then how is the fetus not a person?
A libertarian answer to abortion if there ever was one.
I'm not going to touch the personhood thing, but that's the type of restriction I could live with. But the waters will be muddied when they come up with an artificial womb or fetal transplant technology.
I won't presume to make predictions, especially not about the future (h/t Yogi Berra), but who knows what they'll invent to keep babies alive at even earlier stages?
And please not the serious consideration she gives to the issue - it seems that she actually considers it important, not one of those "oh Lord do I have to address *that* issue again?" issues, the way some candidates (and commenters) see it.
please *note* the serious consideration
Good for her! Now where are the links?
Something something hair something something fruit sushi something remember remember the 17th of May something something.
Is it Rico's turn? That might explain it.
NO PM LINKS!
Okay. I'm posting my old link again.
Hitler unhappy about missing Hit-and-Run Links
Awesome!
I just posted it. I've been using it as a bludgeon on Fruit Sushi. I love you Injun.
5/17 NEVER FORGET!
Thanks bacon-magic!
I appreciate art when I see it.
You really are the best, Hiawatha.
I'd watch it again, but I'm at the office. I'll save it for later.
Awesome - and completely meaningless to anyone who doesn't post here. It's the perfect youtube video.
Ironically, that's an authoritarian look on the LP candidate pic, like she's ready to shoot someone who pisses her off.
There's a difference between authoritarian and authoritative.
^THIS.
She looks assertive and authoritative, not authoritarian.
It's the "Don't tread on me, or I'll shoot you with my AR-15" look.
+1 shoulder thing that goes up
Euphemism?
Like, for being late with the P.M. Links, perhaps....
No, but that does call for a stern lecture and a good spanking.
Will you be taking him to Castle Anthrax for that?
I don't think he'd be into that.
I'm guessing he was thinking Castle Tonio... Which I picture looking very much like Castle Anthrax, with a gender variation.
Bobarian gets it.
So normal monastic life?
Holiday was yesterday, Reason staff. Where the fux the linx?
Now I don't want to see Robby in a slutty dress.
You're not a very good liar, CJ.
Instead of making my usual jibes on links, I had to work, Jesse. And when I work bad things happen, like eventually having to travel to Long Island.
Gibes, with a G? Fucking Soave.
eventually having to travel to Long Island
Is this what New Yorkers tell their children when a beloved family pet dies?
Lisa Simpson: "your rabbit died and dad buried him in the backyard. Although not necessarily in that order."
[golf clap]
Stop reading my mind.
OK, since Robby is late with the links, again...
Commie Jacobin magazine just did a hit-piece on GayJay claiming that he has a "hard-right" history - which mainly seems to be outrage that he wanted to shrink government particularly handout programs. Granted, Jacobin isn't widely read but it will end up being quoted by ostensibly more moderate media outlets.
Remember, they are running scared and are cranking up the smear machine.
I will not link to that POS publication.
To Jacobin, that is hard-right.
To Jacobin, everything that is right of Comrade Stalin is hard right.
Metallica's "Don't tread on me" would make a fine soundtrack to play when this woman walks on to the debate stage.
"America, Fuck Yeah!" would also work.
With no PM links, I bid adieu to this wretched hive of scum and villainy. Enjoy, my fellow commenters!
See you tomorrow or sometime later this week.
Please tell me her nickname is "Pootie"
IS IT STILL LABOR DAY??
You just know damn well it is Rico's day...and here we sit.
They must have seen some footage of her in previous debates and saw that she was terrible. That's the only explanation I can see for their, um, leniency. I'm entirely serious.
Dicks out for links!
That's a Title IX violation!
racist
they've lost every subsequent argument about all those "important" government programs that advance "important" government/social interests by addressing "important" problems.
When everything is important, nothing is important.
Oh, and whar muh linx?
I bet Rico is at the florist as we speak, picking out a vase full of roses as an apology for being late.
HARK!
The PM Links are here.
They are Soave Links as the prophecy foretold!
*throws flowers over shoulder and skips off to links gaily*
Well, this is the closest thing to libertarian moment since Brexit. Now, back to the election.
Check out the comment on the Denver Post story about Lily Tang Williams:
Today's LP is just a refuge for conservatives and it little more than GOP appendage.
Libertarianism the ideology is nothing more than replacing our Republic with a plutocratic corporatocracy and the obliteration of our individual rights.
Reminds me of the South Park episode "Die Hippie, Die".
Lily: She's harder than Johnson.
Gary couldn't tie her boots. The accumulated THC would rush to his brain and he would start acting like Trump.
I can already hear my liberal friends counter to that: She presumes to tell me what is important. Importance is entirely subjective. I don't give a shit about self-defense or property rights, but transgender rights are extremely important to me.
Makes me wish I lived in Colorado just so I can vote for this woman. She sounds absolutely amazing.
[hearty applause]
Might I suggest:
Tang (Williams) to Johnson: "It's not that hard!"
You need new friends Jim.
Importance is entirely subjective.
If they say that, they've lost every subsequent argument about all those "important" government programs that advance "important" government/social interests by addressing "important" problems.
Because she lived under Maoist communism. How many of your pinko friends have done that.
If they say things like that, I'd say they are "frosting" people, not "cake" people. Hate to see how it goes for them on their cause de jour if they let self-defense and/or rights slip.
Are these Plano people, btw?
^^I'm using that next time.
Eh, they're good folk, just wrong about this subject, which we rarely discuss.
They're pretty normal democrats who have gotten too excited over the pan-sexual revolution over the last few years. They are all in on gay marriage, trans bathroom rights, etc., but also think the college crowd is way too radical and they disdain trigger warnings etc. along with the rest of us. People on here like to act like everyone to the left of Goldwater is an SJW, but it really is a (very loud and shitty and overly influential in certain institutions) minority of "the left".
I don't make them answer for every stupid SJW outrage any more than they expect me to answer for every stupid thing any conservative has ever said.
Eh, I don't know any liberals (personally in meat-space) who apologize for Maoism. The worst I've ever heard was that the death toll was made worse that it would have been otherwise by some natural weather calamities, but there's always a full condemnation of old-style communism. They all tend to buy into the Scandinavian paradise bullshit - high taxes and redistribution.
Yep. Public school teachers, of course.
Dear God. Start wearing private school-branded clothing around them.
No, Jimbo, the point isn't that I'm assuming they apologize for Maoism, but that Lily Tang Williams has a morally unassailable position from which to testify about the horrors of life in the PRC under Mao. The fact that she has wholesale rejected communism in all its forms, including the JV socialists, tells you something. Ask your friends where they draw the line between Maoist collectivism and "soft" Sanders-style "democratic socialism." They don't have to answer you, but I urge you to ask them to look deep within theirselves and engage in honest introspection, Maoist self-criticism as it were (but don't tell them that), about how far they are willing to go to achieve socialist paradise.
