Brickbat: Close Enough for Police Work

Maria Elena Hernandez is out $2,000 to a bail bond company and $1,470 for a mandatory jail medical exam after being arrested by California Department of Insurance officers for insurance fraud. The woman cops were looking for gave her name as Maria Mercedes Hernandez. It took the cops more than two months to figure out they had the wrong woman even though they had a photograph of the woman they were looking for.

Morning, sounds to me she has a good basis for a lawsuit.
Sovereign immunity, baby!
That hasn't worked for Chicago or NYC. They've paid out 100's of millions in lawsuits in the last 10 years.
And Mornin`. Locked myself out of the house. Waiting for the wife to get home. *Eyes local watering hole*
I keep forgetting our time difference,I'm drinking coffee and your having adult beverages Ohio State football, pizza and beer tomorrow though. I have all dead bolts on my doors, need a ey to lock and unlock,so,even the wife can't lock herself out. Like she has here car several times. Blondes huh?
O-H...
I-O
OT: I see the SpaceX rocket that blew up was caring a satellite for Facebook. Maybe there is a god.
Why does Zuckerboy need a satellite?

At least Aetna has the decency to pull out.
For once, I agree that pulling out was the right decision.
RESPECT MAH AUTHORITAH!!
Most unrealistic movie ever is West Side Story. Not because the gang members dance ballet, it's the part where the guy runs through Spanish Harlem shouting "Maria, Maria !". And only one girl comes to the window?!
I never saw the movie, did she yell "Shut up"?
they all look alike anyway...
If you can't do the time, don't have a similar name to the one who they think did the crime.
just shut up & do what you're told, when you're told...it will be less painful, most likely.
Or, "come along peaceable like, and things will go better for you."
Exactly how insurance investigators mistook her for Maria Elena Hernandez is unclear. The Department of Insurance spokeswoman declined to explain, citing an internal investigation being conducted by the agency. The district attorney's office also declined to detail what led to the mix-up
However, both agencies will, in the near future, widely publicize their lessons learned so mistakes like this never happen again, right? RIGHT?!
One begins to appreciate the samurai more...
They did have a code of honor and would do the right thing when they violated it,so,yeah.
I'm told it's a gut wrenching experience...
That's a cutting remark if I ever heard one...
Well, it's not like $3500 and 2 months of your life is really that much of a sacrifice. And hey! Eventually they completely failed to catch the right person, so it worked out in the end.
Must have been quite an exam.
