This has all happened to wide swaths of the fourth estate since Emperor Clown put them all in such a position. The Onion is so boring now. Same with Daily Show. Electric motors don't do that. And as you point out, battery life is like gas millage. Yeah, a corvette can get 30+ mpg, if you drive it in 6th and drive like an old lady. If you want to have fun with it and drive it like it was meant to be driven, it is going to be lucky to get 15. Battery life is the same way. So those claims of 200 mile battery life are about as meaningful as claims that corvettes and 911s get the mileage of a Honda Civic. Well sort of...

It took the auto industry a while to figure things out, but the vehicles coming out now are so good that critics have to nitpick to find things wrong with them--it's usually pointless shit like hard plastic dashboards and numb steering. They're safer, relatively fuel efficient without sacrificing much in the way of performance, and in the case of trucks deliver torque and towing numbers that would make people's eyes pop as late as 20 years ago. Christ, a Toyota Camry V-6 gets more horsepower than Magnum PI's Ferrari. That's unreal.

We just bought a Honda Odyssey, and I can't believe how awesome it is compared to the shitbox minivans I rode in as a kid.
