Attack in Nice appears to be the seventh Islamic extremist terrorist attack in France in 18 months

UPDATE: Some readers questioned whether this is an Islamic extremist attack. Of course the investigation is still in its early stages, but French Prime Minister Manuel Valls has been quoted in an AP story on as saying that the driver was a "terrorist linked to radical Islam." But I appreciate the note of caution - I've changed "is" to "appears to be" in the post title, just to reflect that such things are often not completely certain.
