This Super Woke Teen's 'White Boy Privilege' Poetry Slam Is a Trump Voter's Nightmare
Also, the case for school choice.

This post has been updated.
When you listen to 14-year-old Royce Mann rap about his "white boy privilege," do you applaud the young artist for his progressive vision, or do you roll your eyes at such obvious proof of leftist indoctrination in the classroom?
For most people, your answer probably aligns with whether you are horrified by Donald Trump or eager to see him make America great again.
The Georgia eighth grader's beat poetry performance begins like this:
"Dear women, I'm sorry. Dear black people, I'm sorry. Dear Asian Americans, dear Native Americans, dear immigrants who come here seeking a better life, I'm sorry. Dear everyone who isn't a middle or upper class white boy, I'm sorry. I have started life at the top of a ladder while you were born on the first rung."
The rest is more of the same. Mann's language is occasionally colorful—he says "bullshit," and "fuck."
A video of the performance—which won first place at a competition—went viral earlier this week, earning praise from left-of-center news outlets.
"Privilege," wrote The Huffington Post's Cavan Sieczkowski. "Some don't get what it means, but 14-year-old Royce Mann sure does."
"Royce Mann eloquently addressed the racial, gender and socioeconomic disparities that exist between white boys like him and those in marginalized communities," wrote Mic's Sarah Harvard.
Right-wing media was less enthusiastic.
"Left-wing media and social justice warriors are salivating over a white eighth grade boy who has taken first place in a "poetry slam" for his poem titled "White Boy Privilege," in which he apologizes for the "privilege" of white boys and men," wrote Breitbart's Susan Berry.
For folks on the right, the biggest problem with Mann's views isn't that he holds them—it's that he learned them in school.
"I never realized how prevalent [white privilege and male privilege] was in our society until this year when I went to a new school," Mann told CNN. "We take a class called Race, Class, and Gender, and that made me a lot more aware of the privileges I have that other people don't often have, many other people don't often have."
To be clear, Mann attends an expensive private school, the Paideia School, in Atlanta. Administrators at Paideia have every right to make the curriculum explicitly social justice-focused—and if parents want to spend extra money sending their kids to such a school, that's okay.
Still, if you are worried that America is becoming too politically correct—and that left-wing indoctrination at colleges and universities is part of the problem—you probably won't be pleased to learn that Race, Class, and Gender is a required course for some eighth-graders. This is the kind of thing that drives certain people into the arms of Donald Trump.
Many people on the other side of the ideological aisle trip over themselves in their haste to congratulate someone for a display of purely symbolic social signaling. This signaling goes both ways: criticizing privilege is double-plus-good, and sharing viral news articles about criticizing privilege is also double-plus-good. Progressives can prove how woke they are without having to actually lift a finger to help anybody.
I'm not particularly bothered that Mann is learning about privilege—yes, privilege exists. I'm glad that he has the opportunity to attend the school that aligns with his family's values and interests. And I'm thrilled that he's taking his studies seriously and that his artistic talent has brought him some national attention.
In fact, I suspect that he's right: he is incredibly privileged. Not necessarily because he's white or because he's a man, but because he can afford to pay $22,000 per year to attend junior high.
Many of the under-privileged people he professes to care about aren't so lucky. They are forced to attend failing public schools. Test scores for students in the Atlanta Public School system were so bad that nearly 200 teachers at 40 different schools were caught routinely altering students' answers in order to improve their performances.
One of the best things society can do for the underprivileged is to approve school choice. These reforms let kids take back the money the government confiscates for their mandatory educations and instead spend those dollars at the schools that serve individual students the best. We already know it works.
Maybe Mann can work that into his next poem.
Updated at 2:50 p.m. on July 14, 2016: A neighbor of the Mann family writes via email that many students who attend Paideia receive financial aid, including Royce. She also relayed this statement from Royce's mother: "Folks are reasonably assuming that he's from a rich family, and he is, just not in terms of money! I think it's cool that he understands how he's privileged even in our comparably modest circumstances, privileged in so many ways due to the things he so eloquently expresses."

Apparently "white privilege" no longer includes the privilege of a decent education.
+won ton soup (is that cultural appropriation?)

"Buf, officer, all I said was, 'Hey, waitress, are you as wanton as the soup?'"
Curious dinner date: "Won ton soup?"
Me: "No tanks - I got tum."
SJW: Give me a slice of pizza.
Pizza man: Are you Italian?
SJW: Er, no? What's that got to do with it? Are you racist?
Pizza man: No. I saw your youtube video about cultural appropriation.
SJW: And? What's your point whitey?
Pizza man: Well, in the interest of logical consistency since according to you it's cultural appropriation if you have a slice of pizza and are not Italian.
SJW (leans over counter grabs PM's collar): Listen you white privileged dago. Give me my pepperoni slice or I'm gonna smear you all over Twitter. How dare you turn my good works on me?
Pizza man: Sorry. Can't do it until you produce proof you're Italian.
SJW: Pizza belongs to the world jerk!
Pizza man: So does a taco but that didn't stop you railing against people for eating one.
SJW: That's different! Mexicans are under privileged and need our help!
Pizza man: Look, just say anything in Italian.
SJW: I'm black. What makes you think I'm Italian?
Pizza man: There are black Italians.
SJW: Not true. And even if it were, not the same.
Pizza man: You're losing me.
SJW: I WANT MY PIZZA!
Pizza man: No problem. Are you Italian?
SJW: So-called "Italian" pizza uses tomato sauce as a major ingredient. Tomatoes are indigenous to South and Central America. So, pizza is cultural appropriation from the Mayans, Incas, and Aztecs, you dago shitlord.
What about white pizza with garlic and rosemary?
Shit, apparently no one is pure enough to eat pizza....

Yes, because if there ever was a valid argument against school of choice it is that video.
I give up. WTF is a "slam poem"?
Acapella rap.
Crossed my mind. But that is not what, um, Mr. Mann is doing.
Isn't it? Barely coherent, no rhyme or metrical structure, obscured, but not deliberately or for rhetorical effect... sounds like rap to me.
"No rhyme or metrical structure"?
Royce ain't the only one trolling around here.
Kendrick Lamar "i"
"lot" and "God" aren't even a half rhyme. And using the same word four times (me, me, me, me) isn't a rhyme either. And matching words to the beat of the music is a not a metrical schema.
This won a Grammy.
"This won a Grammy"
Says more about Grammies than the genre. All the Mongolian rap music I know of rhymes and uses proper metrical structure.
"G-Unit-n Mongol dah' salbar njejesjen T.N.N

I often wondered if your handle had something to do with Tengrism, or something along those lines.
Turkish rap music reads a lot like 1980's Enya.
You think you're kidding...
Forget about nomads and monks! It's hip hop that's making Mongolia move in the 21st century. Mongolian Bling jumps into the thriving music scene in the capital, Ulaanbaatar, and follows stars as they rap nationwide with their bitches, cars, and jewels. But beyond this bling lies a failed democracy, and a dying ancient culture that the elders mourn the loss of.
RACIST!
actually it depends on how people pronounce things. not that it matters. More interesting is = when did you develop the impression that rap music followed the same "rules" as 9th-grade poetry assignments?
I'm not saying it isn't rap, I'm saying it's not poetry.
If they called it a freestyle rap competition, my objection would vanish.
If you mean the kid, yes, absolutely.
You were talking about kendrick lamar though and suggesting its lack of poetic rigor was an inherent failing.
Kendrick Lamar is poetry alright. Super overrated poetry that I grudgingly listen to because the beats are hot. Poetry delivered by an individual who has no star power and sucks as a live performer.
Sure is poetry tho.
Doesn't any kind of word vomit count as poetry these days?
I prefer just to say "it's shit" than to try to force my notions of what category it belongs in.
Hell, any kind of word vomit counts as 'debate' these days.
I still can't believe that that shit is what passes for debate these days. That has to be a joke.
Wouldn't those be secondary rhymes?
"enemigo"
Kendrick, stop culturally appropriating half-Spanish words!
That's a whole Spanish word.
That's a hostile fungus creature from the planet Yuggoth. They worship Nyarlathotep.
I suspect you know that rhyme is only one of the aesthetic qualities of words used in poetry. I'm not the biggest Kendrick Lamar fan, but his flow has style. Even in the sample above, *every* line is a double rhyme: "bow tie / go dry" "around me / down me / drown me / found me".
And the Spanish word for enemy, "enamigo" (there is no "an" in the song) is a homophone for "an amigo". Clever way to say neither a friend nor an enemy is going to drown him. Those are some highly constructed lyrics, aka poetry.
This video might be illuminating :

-"...beats are hot"
-"...flow has style"
One thing is for sure, Kendrick Lamar fans are embarrassingly out of touch.
So, I assume, Spoken Word poetry just performed by millenials?
And Henry Rollins. And William Shatner.
DON'T TALK SHIT ABOUT THE SHAT.

DON'T TALK ABOUT LUCY
No, it's been around longer than that. Slam poetry has been grinding away what poetry had left as a form of art for decades now.
Like the more recent "slam debating" or whatever they call it.
Yes. Slam debating is just a slam poetry event where you get the mic for 45 minutes.
true story = i was eating at Curry in a Hurry and a couple of black guys sat down at my table and started talking about "Def Poetry Slam"... and something to do with 'taking it on the road', as in a live show, after the TV show ended... and i just piped in, "Jesus, slam poetry? Please. That shit is the worst.. Who outside of the east village wants anything to do with that?" And one guy just looks at me hard for a second and then goes, "yeah, i mean ok.... but it made money."
and he's still looking at me, and I realize i'm talking to Russel Simmons. And the other guys are Babyface and...someone else fairly big-time. I chew my tikka masala and go, "ah huh. huh. well. uhm." And then everyone laughed.
*Correction = "Def Poetry Jam"
Curry in a hurry?
Now I've seen it all.
I remember spoken word as the 90s iteration of coffee house beat poetry from the 70s. I think we're debating distinctions without differences so, I'm gonna shut up now.
All I was getting at is that this isn't a millennial invention. I ain't dogging you, yo.
Yeah, Mad: SF is not interested in dogging you because you are uhhhm, well, not really similar to his coffee preferences.
Hope that clears it up.
70s beat poetry for millenials.
"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for a Pokemon angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of the night."
Agile Cyborg?
That's 50s beat poetry.

That Veronica Vaughn is one piece of ayce.
That movie has one of my favorite quotes.. "What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
I credit that movie for making it socially acceptable for those of us who actively maintain a 'people to kill list' and wear lipstick to come out of the closet.
Yelling poorly thought out, random opinions, using smart words in the wrong context.
Slam poetry is the art whereby you take an idea and give it an authoritative voice thereby giving it the impression it is no longer up for discussion or debate. For example, 'yo, yo, you! You white privileged motherfucka give me my props because you owe me for your ancestors misdeeds! Slam!' followed by 'woooos' and cheers.
I think. Just guessing.
I don't know.
So it's kind of like all that global warming blovating from the Donkey party gasbags in the Senate, then.

I wonder why leftards aren't squawking more about the type of privilege Hilldog enjoys.
I'm revolted by:
1. Trump
2. This boy
3. Robby's suggestion that there is a dichotomy there
4. wedding-cake flavored icecream - dat's jus' nasty
I didn't know wedding cake was a flavor.
It doesn't have to have a flavor, it just needs to be a label.
I stopped there.
Yeah, that is not something that's going to happen.
You must support Trump.
Does "I'll get a hell of a lot of amusement out of him winning if it should happen" count?
At this point I'm kinda leaning towards Clinton just because I want to see the ensuing hysterical blame-casting meltdown from John et al.
I guess we'll have to disagree on which tears are sweeter.
Team Clinton's tears would be the sweet nectar of the gods.
John's tears will be bland and watery, at best.
Tony's tears taste slightly of urine, though, and shreek's are known to the state of California to cause cancer.
It's a conundrum.
How exactly do you know this?
That's the one good thing about this election: regardless which worthless sack of shit wins, there's gonna be lots and lots of sweet, sweet tears of unfathomable sadness.
I'm not particularly bothered that Mann is learning about privilege?yes, privilege exists.
Indeed it does. And there are even racial privileges in this country. But those are enjoyed by protected classes, not by white people qua white people.
The idea that a libertarian website could promote racial tribalism and division by supporting the "white privilege" narrative is disappointing, to say the least.
Dammit.
... did you read the next sentence?
But it's okay, because he checks his privilege every day.
I checked mine this morning. There might be a lump.
Yeah, I did.
But, the idea that you are "privileged" because you have money ignores the core meaning of "privilege". Which I care about because words have meanings.
"Privilege" means "private law". It describes someone who gets special benefits under the law because of their "special" status.
A particular and peculiar benefit or advantage enjoyed by a person, company, or class, beyond the common advantages of other citizens. An exceptional or extraordinary power or exemption.
http://thelawdictionary.org/privilege/
Apparently the writers at Reason don't care too much that words have meanings.
Yes, blame Reason that a bunch of retards stole yet another word and gave it a new meaning.
You can blame Reason for going along with the theft, yes.
Are you also going to blame Reason for calling certain foods organic? If yes, then carry on. Are you expecting a disclaimer after every SJW use of a word that already has a definition?
I'm expecting that Reason either (a) not use words that have been corrupted by SJWs in the way SJWs use them or (b) put them in scare quotes, possibly with a snarky burn about how the meaning of the word has been corrupted.
Anything but active participation in the corruption of language, which is what we seem to be getting.
Defending language is an admirable goal. Blaming Reason for Robby's use of a corrupted word in the same manner as the story he's reporting on seems a little off though. If you start nagging Bailey and Linnekin when they write about organic foods then I'll think you really mean it.
I made the point in this morning's brickbat that "public accommodation" has been corrupted to mean anything remotely open to the public, including a church service.
And yet they will continue their forlorn attempt to reclaim 'liberal.'
Receipt of stolen property
Colloquial usage of words in contexts widely understood by the intended audience also exists, and unless you want to die on the hill of, "There isn't technically a different set of statutory laws for rich people, therefore there is no such thing as rich privilege", I believe his meaning is widely understood (which is the primary point of language).
Hey, dude, it's sort of rude to interrupt someone's mental masturbation session, ok? Let the man get himself off in peace.
I believe his meaning is widely understood
This is really the only defense, and its not a bad one - "this word has been thoroughly corrupted, and there's no point in even trying to point that out".
I think the point is that a privilege is something that can't be given to everyone. So, things like "people don't assume you are ?insert race/sex prejudice? by looking at your name" doesn't qualify.
And for a long time white people did enjoy that kind of privilege. But those days are gone.
Most people don't use a law dictionary to figure out what words mean, though, and "privilege" has been used in other senses for a long, long time.
The current SJW use of the word is just fucked, though, because it gets things totally wrong. The problem isn't that some people need to be knocked down a peg. The problem is that some people need to have their rights be respected more.
So along with utilitarianism populism and economic equality are now considered to be core beliefs of libertarians. Is the kid fortunate to have a family that can afford the tuition? Maybe. But am I privileged just because I have more money in my pocket at the grocery store than the person in front of me?
Just more robby signaling.
"yes, privilege exists."
The thing about privilege is the people who want to talk about it don't want to ACTUALLY talk about it. The web of historical slights against people is SO intricate it's honestly rather hard to parse everything out and actually look at what privileges people have.
For example, try parsing the privilege of an average Mexican person. On average, he's probably Mestizo, with both Spanish and Nahua ancestry. Some of his ancestors benefited from the oppression of... his other ancestors... So this individual both has the privileges that Spanish colonialism brought and the disadvantages that it brought. These probably don't cancel each other out, as he probably benefited MORE from the Spanish side then the disadvantage brought on by his Nahua side. So, on average, a Mexican person living in Mexico has a privileged ancestry.
But that complicates the narrative, and the people who insist privilege is important are NOT willing to go that deep.
Ultimately things get really complicated when examining privileges with regards to what your ancestry has brought. The Russians and Germans disadvantaged one side of my family. That side got support/privileges from the American people as a result of being a part of a refugee program. The Russians, eventually, gave back my family's original land, at the likely expense of whomever was squatting there until it was given back. My Norse ancestors disadvantaged the Irish. My Irish ancestors were disadvantaged by my Norse ancestors. Ultimately, any deep searching into trying to examine your own "privilege" ends up with a complex web of slights and advantages that is really just too complex to seriously see whether or not you've overall been benefited or slighted.
That's an awful lot of words to say "i'm white as hell."
And that's just the ethnic side of the 'privilege' argument. Then you have to start digging into the actual economic and political aspects of your ancestry. For example, simply having *insert racial minority here* in your background does not necessarily constitute an example of 'negative privilege'. What did your ancestors do? Were they lower class or nobility? Farmers, craftsmen or slave traders? Politically favoured or politically disadvantaged? Were they part of a caste hierarchy?
Hilariously the rational conclusion of the 'privilege' argument requires one to recognize so many diverse factors in your ancestry that the only possible way to quantify it on an individual basis. And that itself is fundamentally impossible because we lack the historical resources to source all these claims of advantages and disadvantages.
For example, simply having *insert racial minority here* in your background does not necessarily constitute an example of 'negative privilege'.
The richest person who has ever lived was Mansa Musa, the 14th-century emperor of Mali.
And just imagine trying to quantify that nonsense centuries down the road. As a Malian descended from Musa, do you have more or less privilege than an Arab descended from the leadership of the Abbasids? A Turk related to Ottoman sultans? Hindu aristocracy? The descendants of the Tokugawa shogunate?
Talking about that stuff can be interesting.
But apologizing for shit you had nothing to do with is pathetic and stupid.
"We take a class called Race, Class, and Gender, and that made me a lot more aware of the privileges I have that other people don't often have, many other people don't often have."
Please note that the first "prisoner" to public admit to his crimes during a public denunciation suffers less than those who refuse or question.
...public
publicly.....wish I could blame the squirrels!
Royce, sitting in a blissful dream, paid no attention as his glass was filled up. He was not running or cheering any longer. He was back in the Ministry of Love, with everything forgiven, his soul white as snow. He was in the public dock, confessing everything, implicating everybody. He was walking down the white-tiled corridor, with the feeling of walking in sunlight, and an armed guard at his back. The long-hoped-for bullet was entering his brain.
He gazed up at the enormous face. Fourteen years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast!
Two lunchable-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother.
+101
I think Robby is learning to love Big brother, too.
I am not a Trump supporter, and I don't have to be to think the kid is full of shit. Likewise those who indoctrinated him.
Yeah, that was pretty ridiculous of Robby to claim that anyone who objects to this idiocy is a Trump supporter.
Did he claim that? I'm pretty sure he knows that pretty much every regular here will think this is bullshit and is not a Trump supporter.
He was talking about "most people" (which may well be a load of crap too). We aren't most people.
We aren't most people.
The Hell you say! I guess I'll have to sort of give him that wiggle room.
Yeah, maybe that would be a valid statement if you were talking to a blended sample of only Breitbart and Salon readers. To the general public, it's kind of a dumb dichotomy. To a specifically libertarian website from a specifically libertarian writer, I don't know what he was thinking. But I guess there's cover in the weasel words "for most people".
Dear everyone who isn't a middle or upper class white boy, I'm sorry. I have started life at the top of a ladder while you were born on the first rung."

Adults don't necessarily have adult ideas about society. ?\_(?)_/?
For a certain definition of "adult".
If you are over 18 (or whatever your preferred age), you are an adult. If you still behave and think like a child, you are just a shitty adult.
"Dear Asian Americans..."
Asian Americans, on average, have higher incomes and are better educated than whites. This little snot could at least do some research.
Goodthinkers have actually told me more than once that when the evidence contradicts the narrative, I need to pretend not to notice the evidence.
Your goodthink is correct but you need to work on your doublethink.
Like the evidence that a STEM degree correlates with higher income?
But they all have tiny penises, so they need all the sympathy they can get.
Thank god. I wasn't sure if sending your kid to school to make them stupider was okay, but Robby says it is.
Nevermind, he's trolling the fuck out of us.
Of course he is. And watch how many people fall for it.
Robby is a better cut of troll than we're used to. Only the most sophisticated palates can fully appreciate him.
I credit the hair for that.
We asked for better trolls around here. Little did we know that reason would hire them
You just have to be able to recognize when Robby's being tongue in cheek. The headline is a good example.
Either that, or Katherine told him to stir some shit and get as many page views and comments as possible. He's a natural at that.
Robbie: All you care about is number of replies. This site deserves a better class of troll, and I'm gonna give it to 'em. Tell your sock puppets they work for me now. This is my blog.
Tulpa: They won't work for a freak!
Robbie: [mocking the Tulpa's accent] "Freak"? [normal voice] Why don't we cut you up into little pieces and feed you to your puppets? Hm? And then we'll see how loyal a hungry sock really is!
If he really believed his own bullshit, he would immediately transfer to the shitty local school - where a racially diverse group of students would proceed to beat the shit out of him.
Like his parents would allow that.

Excuse me, but does anyone here speak jive?
+1 drinking problem
Robby says he's in great pain and wants to know if you can help him.
I know a little German...
Yes, please, someone explain what the fuck "super woke" means?
I admit that I am an ignorant white boy that didn't even know that "cuckservative" is a current progtard meme, so maybe I just run in the wrong circles.
I think the internet needs to refer to progressives as transgressives. That strikes me as a pretty good meme. It mixes the left's love affair with unusual sexual ideation (trannies!!1) with an actual word that describes their assault on common sense.
"Super woke" means social justice aware, enlightened in nonsense.
And "cuckserative" is an alt right / white supremacist insult for those insufficiently hateful towards minorities and immigrants.
Thanks.
My bad. I called them especially wakeful. That seems to be a privileged expression.
Dear Asian Americans ... you were born on the first rung.
Hilarious dreck.
That's lung. First lung.
This is NSFW, but it will wash away the memory of that kid.
This whole "woke" meme needs to die as soon as possible
Totes, bae.
Sounds like something an unwoke person would say.
But it's so vibrant.
I still have no clue what it means. I think that's because I'm not woke, but I'm not totally sure.
I'm upright and moving about. So, I could either be woke or sleep walking. I think I'm woke.
But it does feel like this is a nightmare, so maybe I'm not woke.
It's really close to wook, which has it's own meaning.

Sorry, Robby, but fuck this noise. The term "white privilege" is the worst sort of collectivizing horseshit right up there with "black crime".
Privilege exists, yes. Brilliant deduction. Also, water is wet.
He's not learning about privilege in general terms, which obviously exists. He's being indoctrinated to believe that your skin color is what determines how privileged you are, which is dangerous and divisive nonsense.
Especially since "privilege" seems to suggest your opinion can be dismissed out of hand because if what you are.
Tyro conditioning at its most notable.
Among the many other objectionable things here, I find this:
The schools are "failing" in large part because they are full of kids who don't want to learn. Maybe $22,000 buys you teachers that are *slightly* more motivated but it doesn't buy you a family or cultural environment that values education.
This.
And the scores being low in the APS debacle didn't have much to do with the teachers' desire to do good. It was economic incentive for the administrators if the scores improved.
The thinking of "kids that aren't doing well in school just aren't being taught right" and "failing schools just need more money" is massively retarded and needs to stop. Some kids are dumb, and some kids are lazy. Some kids have parents who don't give a shit unless they can yell at a teacher. That isn't the schools' fault.
Spending on schools has approximately tripled since the 1970's adjusted for inflation. Academic outcomes have not changed. The best predictor of academic achievement is not money spent per pupil, or teacher salaries, or any other bullshit the progs like to promote. The best predictor of academic achievement is parental engagement.
Academic outcomes have not changed.
Scores have increased among all races.
The best predictor of academic achievement is parental engagement.
LOL nah
Here you go. You might want to inform yourself of the facts before you snark.
Here you go. You might want to inform yourself of the facts before you snark.
The racial composition of the country changed, genius. Scores can go up for all races without the average improving.
And yet the literacy and math literacy rates haven't changed all that much. Funny that.
Also, color me shocked if scores have been inflated or testing has been brought down to the lowest common denominator.
And yet the literacy and math literacy rates haven't changed all that much. Funny that.
They didn't improve that much, except kinda for blacks. And the racial composition of the country changed. Not that complicated.
Also, color me shocked if scores have been inflated or testing has been brought down to the lowest common denominator.
There's common questions used for comparison, the same way the "Flynn effect" was "discovered". (It's actually a known phenomenon since at least the 30's.
Adjusted for "demographics," Atlanta schools didn't even have bad test scores before the scandal. And the most optimistic school choice studies show only moderately improved test scores. Robby is simply lying about this.
I say we burn him at the stake for cultural appropriation.
Could we instead -- dare I say it -- do "the boats"?
Of all the inventive, horrific things people have done to one another throughout history, scaphism is one of those that forces me to stand back and look at the entirety of the human race and wonder what the fuck is wrong with us.
Or ... conversely, if you're evil like me, you think, "Wow. That's amazing that someone thought that up."
That depends - did white people invent the concept of burning at the stake?
If not, that would be extremely problematic.
Wikipedia says pretty much everyone has done it. We're gold.
Burn at the stake??? Whoa there, chief!
You're gonna need a cultural license from the Hittites for any stake burnings.
"If you could fight anyone, who would it be?" - Tyler Durden
And that's all I'm saying....
Sandra Day O'Connor?
She has a glass jaw, or so I heard.
Jesus... where to begin?
You'd fight Jesus?
Watch out, he's got a wicked cross
*narrows gaze, but also slow claps*
...You'd choose to fight this kid?
On this note, I'm off to get sushi for lunch. Let me know what my punishment for this cultural appropriation should be.
Eating it is punishment enough.
just knowing you're further depleting our fisheries stock is punishment enough. sinner.
Lol all the hipster doofus progs (not mutually exclusive descriptors) in my area love the "authentic quality" of the sushi or taco places, nevermind that the places they frequent have Mexicans preparing the former and Yankees preparing the latter.
In my town the best fish and chips place is run by Chinese and all the Chinese run Chinese food places are awful and the Mexican food joint run by a Mexican is barely better than a TV dinner. Just because someone is something doesn't mean they are anything. The restaurants in this town suck
For that matter.....back when I lived in Yuma, my wife and I used to go over across the border to Los Algodones to buy cheap Kaluha, Cuban cigars, and knockoff purses and watches. We only ate there once though - it turned out that the Mexican food in Yuma beat the hell out of the Mexican food actually cooked in Mexico.
Since sushi is Japanese, you'll get off with a pretty light punishment. You can't make eye contact with other people for the next 24 hours and must ignore any inappropriate behavior. This may or may not include light fondling of your buttocks on the train or strangers taking creepshots of your panties with their phones.
Depending on who's preparing/selling the sushi, he'd have difficulty making eye contact anyways.
Fruit sushi?
Will it be fruit sushi?
If that doesn't become Robby's nickname around the office, there isn't a speck of justice in this world.
Hopefully there's a gay jap guy working there who gets that nickname.
See Citizen X's link below.
I don't think any mention of fruit sushi for at least 2 months is going to be unrelated to that link
If it's fruit sushi, you might get fat-shamed by your waiter. Just sayin'.
*smiles so hard that face hurts*
Oh,my parents worked hard and have money and I have a nice life and I'm sorry. What a little whinny bitch. I bet he wouldn't give up his nice life. And ,what does a stupid 14 year old have to do with Trump?
Virtue signalling is easier and provides more social reward than giving that $22,000 to charity and attending public school instead.
As expected, his behavior is entirely born out of self interest. And he's rewarded by the media for it.
To be fair, I think 8th grade is a little young to be that self-aware.
But he's being touted as an exemplar of self-awareness.
Which is it? He's totes woke, or he's a typical self-absorbed teenager?
It's both. Because woke is essentially meaningless.
Woke = successfully indoctrinated.
Ding ding. A winner, we have.
doesn't anyone have an OT link they can post??
You're welcome
What about a piglet in a hoodie?
That's so privileged *and* racist.
And *adorable*!
Great, another circumcision thread.
TRUMP PICKED PENCE!
So this kid is saying he is superior because of his wrapping paper essentially?
Sounds like he is the racist
Just smother him with a pillow in the middle of the night, while he sleeps. It's the most merciful thing anyone can do for him at this point.
A friend sent me this.
Apparently there is no Marxist Proletariat Uprising card, whereby all players are moved to the bottom and no longer can finish the game because the players are sent to gulags or starve to death in a couple more turns.
That's a different game entirely. It's called 'Papers, please'.
All we've actually learned is that Robby believes there's only one possible reason to roll ones eyes at a 14yr old's race-moralizing
Sad!
What the hell does this have to do with Donald Trump?
Also, why is Reason so fucking pussy about engaging political correctness? "White privilege" and the idea that a person is to be held responsible for the actions of their ancestors is so utterly at odds with classical liberalism as to be worth opposing even if it were not being drummed into the heads of kids who don't know any better. No one should be saddled with guilt for the hard work and commendable actions of their parents merely because other people exist and either made bad decisions or were more unlucky than their parents.
Any libertarian who is not willing to engage this shibboleth of the left is wasting their time in addressing this question.
There's a big difference between *recognizing* the advantages that one's upbringing can afford (which I think is healthy) and being "held responsible" or "saddled with guilt" over them (which I see no evidence is being advocated by Robby or anyone else at Reason).
"There's a big difference between *recognizing* the advantages that one's upbringing can afford (which I think is healthy) "
I don't, it's a silly shell game and a waste of time.
its a blame game used as an excuse for ones own failures and justification to punish others.
When you describe the advantages of having a decent upbringing in the same language as the one used by racialists to accuse white people of being inherently racist, you can't really complain about nuances re: "saddled with guilt" v "recognizing advantages".
Reason needs a philosophy writer or something.
If we just sidestep these theories without challenging them, it's how we'll end up with a "male tax" to balance out the "pink tax" or a white people tax for reparations.
Social Justice requires committing injustices (like theft) to correct for imaginary "social injustices".
Too many people just passively accept false premises. You wouldn't want to look like a racist, would you?
My gripe with Reason's lunge for millenial cred in a nutshell. To attract millenial eyeballs, we have to passively accept the premises they've had drilled into them by leftist institutions.
Is it a lunge for millennial cred, or have they just been hiring too many writers whose libertarianism only extends to pot, ass sex, and Mexicans? Perhaps both?
Let's put it this way, Reason isn't where I come to be challenged by the philosophy and principles of liberty. Reason is the TMZ of libertarianism.
I come to Reason for the comments, mostly.
I come to rape the corpses of the threads.
And most people use the Internet as an escape from the rest of their lives.
Is there anyone at all who *isn't* aware of the advantages of a good upbringing? Pretty sure "the advantages that one's upbringing can afford" is a big part of why many parents work their asses off to get to a position of "privilege" in the first place. The concept of privilege that's being taught is that privilege should be tied to some form of shame or self-flagellation -- so when Robby says this:
being saddled with guilt or having to enact some penance for one's privilege is the *exact point and purpose* of that indoctrination. And yes, Reason's writers are generally very sympathetic to this narrative, which weakens their advocacy of classical liberalism and makes the magazine generally less enjoyable and more boring to boot -- this shit is becoming the new orthodoxy, and orthodoxy is always yawn-inducing.
Robby has to be one of the worst possible people to put on the Social Justice beat. He can't stop himself from ceding the moral high-ground at every opportunity. In his mind, if he doesn't accept the SJW premises and theories at face value, then he thinks he's not going to get through to anyone but libertarians. This has the opposite effect, it makes those who read Robby's work think that the anti-SJW side of the argument is intellectually bankrupt. He's like some kind of libertarian moderate who thinks if he waffles around and appears to be on their side, it will win him some points in the debate instead of causing his ostensible opponents to dig in their heels.
^^ winner winner, culturally appropriated fried chicken dinner!!
No, they're not. Accepting that the word "privilege" can correspond to a real thing isn't the same thing as thinking people should feel guilty about their life circumstances. I don't believe you can point to a single instance of the writers here endorsing feeling guilty about background WITHOUT assuming that the idea of "privilege" necessitates feelings of guilt, which it doesn't.
You haven't been here that long have you? Is this your first Rico Suave article?
I mean if it's so ubiquitous surely you can point out even one such instance, right?
Do you literally believe there's not one instance of Robby pandering or ceding ground?
It's totally not fair that English literature was dominated by Englishmen.
The Mizzou journalism prof made a teency weency mistake in threatening violence against a student reporter.
Because political correctness is totally not a big deal and it's wide-spread acceptance could not possibly have any effect on policy or culture:
*crickets*
In the schemata of SJW claptrap, "privilege" is a theological device which definitely entails some sort of action from the privileged (deemed by generalized categories such as race or sexual orientation and not actual specific power, of course) to do penance for one's supposed higher status.
It 1) does not correspond to a "real thing" as described by SJWs, and 2) does not need to be expiated for even if it is a real thing, any more than gays need to apologize for AIDs or black people have to apologize for gang violence. #1 is an empirical question, #2 is a viewpoint that any classical liberal should be foursquare against.
The concept predates its adoption as a weapon by SJWs. It's similar to what has happened to the word "racism"--taking a widely-understood word twisting it into something unrecognizable, and capitalizing on people's confusion over the vastly different meanings to fashion a political cudgel. By pretending that the SJW interpretation of these words is the *only* one and thus concluding that the words do not refer to any real thing means that *you* are the one implicitly accepting their premises.
By pretending that the SJW interpretation of these words is the *only* one and thus concluding that the words do not refer to any real thing means that *you* are the one implicitly accepting their premises.
Perhaps a writer like Rico, who has made clear his sympathies for political correctness should not use a word that has a specific connotation within the PC cultural zeitgeist if he doesn't mean to imply said connotation.
I'm recognizing how the word is being used in the goddamn sentence I quoted from. Unless you really think that when dipshit white kid is being taught "privilege" and Robby agrees that it's good to be taught about "privilege", he's really talking about something completely different.
You're the one being obtuse by switching all of the leftist implications of how SJWs use the word for a more general definition in a way that's not justified by the text.
Well he follows that sentence you quoted by specifically repudiating the idea of making these distinctions based solely on race or gender, so I'm not sure what you're getting at.
So let's just include more Asians and successful blacks, Hispanics and women on the guilt train and we'll be fine?
Cool story
Or, the whole thing is bullshit from start to finish.
Accepting that the word "privilege" can correspond to a real thing isn't the same thing as thinking people should feel guilty about their life circumstances.
I'm gonna call bullshit on this one. Privilege, as used in modern parlance, is a loaded term that implies culpability. This is especially true in a conversation within the context of race or gender, like this article.
Every atom of the universe is either oriented Trump, or Anti-Trump. This is known. There is no third perspective.
The sleeper has awakened!!
*wokened
*resists urge to throw heavy things at lap*
I thought the same thing. It's like it's a fad or something to insert Trump as a non-sequitur into a political conversation.
All the cool kids are doing it!
Six degrees of Trump!
I continue to wonder why I'm responsible for the way others choose to react.
They are forced to attend failing public schools.
No, they attend schools which have a lot of stupid kids.
It sure is funny that Asians attend the same "failing" schools but they don't fail.
Completely inexplicable to SJWs - therefore, ignored.
Test scores for students in the Atlanta Public School system were so bad that nearly 200 teachers at 40 different schools were caught routinely altering students' answers in order to improve their performances.
Stupid kids cause crooked teachers?
Because everyone, even stupid kids, are forced to attend public schools.
Because everyone, even stupid kids, are forced to attend public schools.
Oh, the horror.
US public schools have about the same education results as schools in Europe; the schools themselves aren't failing in any way - except for being very expensive.
Those pesky, narrative thwarting US Asians attending US public schools do better than students in any European country. A complete mystery to SJWs - therefore ignored.
Don't whine at me, dummy. I didn't write the article. I was just correcting your intentional misunderstanding of a point.
I went to a great public school - thanks to my mom.
Me too, thanks to both my parents.
thanks to my mom.
MATERNALISM PRIVILEGE!!!!1!11!1!
Me too, thanks to your mom.
Sorry, jerk privilege.
Nice privilege you got there Mom haver. *spits*
huh?
dear immigrants who come here seeking a better life, I'm sorry
Why?
Good question. I assume if they didn't actually find a better life here, they would just go back home.
White boy privilege?? So he thinks because he has nice things, goes to a nice school, has parents that are well off (more than likely), and pretty much can get what he wants at a drop of a dime it's all because he's white and started at the top of the supposed ladder? Maybe he should go to the mountains of West Virginia and ask the out of coal miners children how privileged they are? Or maybe he should go to ANY college and ask a few of the minorities if they got to attend that college because of affirmative action, or to the police or fire departments. Privileged is now being born a minority. They have so many government resources at their disposal, programs and policies that are just for them. He isn't privileged because he's white, he's privileged because his family is well off. (Presumably)
*Out of work coal miners
It's worse to be privileged because you or your family have produced value for others than if you're privileged because the government stuck a gun in someone's ribs and gave you their money and force them to give you a job or force them to enroll you in a university.
Another sad ignorant fool is brainwashed into being ashamed of his own skin color.
There is no "white privilege".
There is the privilege of having a solid family that made wise fiscal decisions and prioritized providing opportunities to their children. There is the privilege of having a solid family structure that goes back multiple generations. There is the privilege of a son having a father and/or other consistent male figures to model behavior one. There is the privilege of having parents that chose to raise kids in a community that isn't rife with crime and bad influences.
But, no, there is no such thing as white privilege unless you are so racist as to imagine that only white people are capable of doing the above. Go to hell, you racist POS.
It's all about the push for "equality" as a justification to expand the power of the state to every aspect of your life, up to and including family structure.
What Presidential candidate do you support if your response is to projectile vomit on Trump, Clinton, and the Maoist kid?
Cthulhu?
SMOD 2016
The only candidate that can guarantee to eliminate poverty, racism, and terrorism all within the first year.
Giant Meteor may be your guy. He has a comprehensive plan for all life on earth, not just humanity. It's a simple plan but effective and doesn't melt your brain if you stare at it for too long like Cthulhu's non-Euclidean platform.
Are you going on the record to say that Giant Meteor does not melt brains?
Technically, the brains passing from a semi-gelatinous state directly to a vapor is sublimation. Also, you couldn't conclusively prove that Giant Meteor intends to melt brains, therefor, no charges.
#tooBigToJail
I'm a Kodos guy, myself
Still the lesser evil. Wimp.
I like to think of him as more of an "evil moderate."
Okay, define it. Show me how this thing you say exists, is some kind of injustice worthy of activism.
14-year-olds using the f-word? Now I've heard everything.
I'm never voting for Trump, but this kid makes me fear for this country more than the Donald having nuclear codes.
Only Trump-Supporters dare to suggest that collectively applauding Teenage-Struggle-Sessions is a bad thing.
because rewarding people for their admission of crimes they never committed is healthy.
The only benefits of shitty teenage poetry is to read it decades after the fact and realize what an absolute tosser you were. I'm told it helps with raising kids.
Yeah. that can be true of almost everything you write in your teens through your 20s.
Ladies and gentleman (and progressives), this is EXACTLY what a Dark Age looks like.
Yeh, yeh. 'Dark' is racist. Get bent.
Your opinion doesn't matter, because you are white. It is known.
Even worse, he's CANADIAN.
Canadians are the junior varsity of white people, it is known.
I'm so sick and tied of the mistreatment around here.
I try to sell Avon ONCE around here and no one lets me live it down.
This Super Woke Teen
God damnit, Robby. I'm pretty sure you're not much younger than I am but you make a guy feel old.
I'm pretty sure about 90% of Robby's posts are just trolling the commentariat.
Father: Eat your veggie's Royce.
Royce: Shove your white privilege bok choy up your arse daddy!
Father: You're right. We're too privileged.
Royce: Damn straight we are.
Father: Hand me your iPad.
Royce: Sur...wait! What?
Mother: I'm so proud...of someone. I'm not sure who anymore.
As I said in the AM Links, if this were my child, I would beat him.
Also, slam poetry is stupid.
I'm sure someone will scold you for that.
But you're right.
It's so people with no poetic talent can claim to be poets.
Distinguishing it rom other kinds of poetry how?
So, privilege is the combined social attitude toward the appearance of a particular group, and assumptions based on statistics that said group will engage in certain behaviors that are deemed desirable.
And that's bad how?
Wake me when a super swole teen's "white boy privilege" accordion solo becomes Hillary's hottest wet dream.
I like this as a neologism for kids who get fat-headed with their own self-righteousness.
do u even lift bro
I googled it, so yes, i'm aware its a reference to one's muscle-tone.
I like it better as a reference to Ego-inflation.
WE GET TO USE THAT WORD IT'S NOT OKAY FOR YOU TO USE IT. MAKE UP YOUR OWN WORD.
I suggest you try rhyming slang. Something like waffle. As in Eggo, for ego. Fuck, how do the lower caste Limeys even communicate with each other.
Sounds like you just christened three new commenters. Welcome "Super Swole Teen," "White Boy Privilege Accordion Solo," and "Hillary's Hottest Wet Dream." Back in a sec...
I have now copyrighted these three handles and anyone using them will have to pay me royalties. >
[Emphasis added] I don't think that word means what she thinks it means.
This X1,000,000. If Royce Mann cares so fucking much about the poor, underprivileged minorities he trips all over himself to apologize to for the crime of being white, he can go down to downtown ATL and volunteer at a soup kitchen or something. Or maybe volunteer to go to a public school so his parents can pay for some poor black kid to go to that expensive private school instead (I doubt his highly progtarded parents would be thrilled with that prospect either).
The second paragraph is bang on. Unfortunately, it is followed immediately by:
I'm not particularly bothered that Mann is learning about privilege?yes, privilege exists.
Since what Mann has been taught is "white privilege", its hard for me to read this as anything other than an endorsement of both (a) the concept of white privilege and (b) support for teaching it in school.
Privileged are those who stuff their fat faces with fruit sushi. Shame. Shame. Shame. *rings bell with big belly
You know, when you tell me should feel guilty because my parents weren't deadbeats and raised me well...
Dear SJW/Poetry twit:
I'm sorry that both my parents my parents finished high school. I'm sorry that both my parents worked blue collar jobs so I could have a future. I'm sure they would have been better off being a victim, or druggy, or in a gang. I'm sorry my parents were married 47 years (Dad passed away last year) . I'm sorry my father, who could barely stand, continued make parts everyday till he was 60.
Sorry my parents were responsible and never raised me as a snow flake. I probably still have a belt mark or two. Sorry, t hat I studied in school, worked during summers and thru school, and put myself thru grad school.
I know it's all whiteness and doesn't have anything to do with not being a victim or being in a culture where it's ok to have 9 baby mommas.
As someone said, I'm glad this kid will have a career at Starbucks
To look at me, you'd think I was covered up in "white privilege".
My mother was raised by a single mother who worked as a secretary and raised three kids. Her father was an alcoholic who got kicked out of the house.
My father was also raised by a single mother. His father died when he was 8, and was rarely home before that because he worked for the railroad. He grew up in a poor Hispanic neighborhood, and his mother was Hispanic as can be. His jr. high and high schools were infested with gangs, and he remembers seeing a teacher knifed for trying to break up a fight.
The house I was initially raised in (through grade school) was two bedrooms, one bathroom, without air conditioning (other than a swamp cooler) in Texas.
Where exactly does my hereditary white privilege come from, again?
It's about power and control. They'll vilify you because your parents weren't deadbeats or because you have white skin or are tall or whatever. If any natural advantage is deemed "privilege," then we must sacrifice our freedom and our control of our lives to the government to make things "fair" and "equal."
True. Although I'm of average height, I am incredibly handsome, so I guess I'm privileged no matter what. Unless I take a knife to my craggy-yet-masculinely attractice face, that is.
Well I'm tall and handsome. It's a cross I have to bear.
Your levity about knives to the face is othering to the differently abled and the transabled. Check your handsome-privilege, bro.
We need some government agency to even things out, an Office of the Handicapper General, if you will.
Exactly. I grew up middle class - nowhere near wealthy, but fairly comfortable as did my father.....but his father grew up as the child of poor immigrants. His father was a custodian at the Plaza Hotel for many years and his mother did sewing piecework in their apartment to make an extra buck here and there. WWII had him trained to be a mechanic, which started him in a career in the automotive business that ended with him retiring as a VP with Avis. He met my grandmother at a USO dance in Georgia when he was stationed there for training. She was the daughter of a dirt-poor sharecropper (yes, there were white sharecroppers!) who grew up in a ramshackle house with no indoor plumbing.
My mother's side was working class. Her father worked two jobs to support 9 kids (those wacky Irish Catholics!), days at the Grumman factory on Long Island and nights and weekends at a liquor store. He was raised by his spinster aunt after being orphaned at age 6 when both of his parents died within six months of each other. They didn't want for the basics but it was a pretty no-frills upbringing. Hardly privileged in any way.
RC, you're Hispanic. You get to spin the Wheel Of Reparations!
Unfortunately, he's White Hispanic so it all cancels out.
Of course this is non-sense
There is no such thing as privilege in terms of getting an unfair advantage in America because of race or association
Unless of course you are talking about the following:
Affirmative action, politics, unions, news coverage, minority/disadvantaged/women's/business enterprise construction inclusion mwdbe, non-merit based quotas, etc.
What am I missing?
"I'm so sorry about my white privilege! But outsourcing jobs to Mexicans and the Chinese and free trading with non white countries, that's yucky!"
Exactly.
I wonder, while they are teaching our kids that capitalists are evil greedy pigs who bath in stolen money, if they ever also explain that those some greedy capitalist would then certainly hire a black person or women or tranny if that person could make money.
As usual, the logic of capitalism is left out purposefully to sell their snake oil.
I would hire a black tranny with gay cake on its face tomorrow if it would help me make profits. I would hire a Mexican women from Syria on the no fly list with a trump shirt on tomorrow if she contributed to my bottom line and was a positive return on my investment.
That is of course, if they agreed to come work for me at a mutually agreed upon wage.
The kid wears pink shoes. One day when he grows up, he'll enjoy having other men fuck his wife. Too far? Sorry.
The whole "Cuck" thing is heavy-duty-projection on par with progressive's own psychotic-obsession about race.
Seriously = its like you're constantly advertising your fascination with black dicks.
I follow a bunch of alt-right people on Tweeter. 98% of all reference to black dicks I've seen is "normies" saying the alt-right is obsessed with them.
(excluding @Nero, of course)
I don't do twitter but i see people making the cuck comment constantly on youtube and elsewhere.
And what the fuck is a "normie" now?
normal. What the alt-right calls people who aren't alt-right.
Note also that the people who adopt this attitude also overwhelmingly support a man with a wife that no sane person could reasonably believe is faithful to him.
yeah, that too.
the "cuck" thing is baldly announcing one's own lack of self-confidence. Its admitting that the person possesses a deep fear of someone else fucking their GF. they think its such a fantastic insult because they all share a collective fear of it themselves. that's how insults work. they tend to say more about the person throwing it out than the target.
Which also explains the upper-middle-class left's fascination with race. they're terrified that poor people blame *them* for their systemic problems, so they think this constant prostrating themselves shows their innocence, and will protect them from what they secretly feel must be a serious threat to their class-status.
i've heard progs openly admit to me that their prime motivation for more Welfare and more Reparations etc. is to "prevent society breaking down". - iow, they're terrified the poor people will invade the suburbs and burn their houses down.
so they move to the cities and pretend to hate the suburbs themselves - basically projecting the same angst and anger they assume others possess - because they think that pretending to be "allies" makes them personally safe.
Both progs and the alt-right seem entirely obsessed with some deep-seated insecurity about their social-status. I personally just think its super-weird.
You might want to lay off the Freud for a little while.
but am i wrong?
That's only one variety of (nonpolitical) cuck and probably not the most common one.
Too far apparently! It's the mindset of self-loathing and socially signaled masochism that draws the parallel. If the pink shoe fits...
Everybody wears fruity-ass shoes these days.
One day when he grows up, he'll enjoy having other men fuck his wife.
What's that make him? "Cuck-gressive"
Passive cuckgressive? Poetic cuckslammer? Cuckschooler? I think the people most rattled by the term are upset that they hold views that others might characterize thus. I certainly didn't invent the word but when you hear stories of rape victims protecting their migrant rapists out of misplaced notions of social justice, you can't really remain ignorant as to why the term is used.
Passive cuckgressive?
I'll go with that.
I just find it kind of a lame insult. If someone gets off on their woman getting fucked by someone else, it's none of my business and I'm not going to judge.
The alt-righters who use the term are referring to the literal definition -- raising another man's child as your own. As a description of conservatives who e.g. try to be more anti-racist than progressives, it's about as accurate as an insult can be.
It may be none of your business but you're free to judge. That doesn't mean necessarily shoving your judgement in their faces, but no one escapes judgement, whether it's spoken or not.

White privileged mother fucker!
I thank ye gods that I'm privileged.
Charlie don't surf.
White boy don't rap.
I exercised my privilege by:
not RTFA-ing
not listening to whatever tune this pretentious little performing seal tooted out on his horns
Dear 'Asian Americans?'
By almost any metric the left uses to claim whites are privileged- Asians are more so
Higher income, education, wealth
Lower crime , crime victimisation, STD rate, out of wedlock birth rate etc
They are even less likely to be shot by police (rate as %age of population)
Blacks are 3 times as likely to be shot by cops as whites but 4 times as likely as Asians
Unsurprisingly , Asians less likely to kill cops than whites or blacks
FBI data for cop killers by race/gender among known offenders available by request
Now compare the Asians with the Ashkenazim.
Ashkenazim are 'whites'.
Maybe for the B-Side of his hit 45 he can write a rap thanking his parents and their ancestors and their ancestors ancestors for fighting to establish this country that has allowed the opportunity for more people to rise out of poverty than any other on earth. He could call it "White Charity".
Attends a junior high that costs $22000 a year; what the fuck does is matter what color he is, he's privileged regardless.
As for "do you roll your eyes at such obvious proof of leftist indoctrination in the classroom?"
Is that a trick question?
His mom has her own IMBD page. So I'll question her "we're not rich" stuff.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm082....._ov_bio_sm
The kid has an IMDB page too- including an "executive producer" for one of his mommy's short films
OK, I'm convinced that he's privileged:
"Sheri is a busy political activist and co-founder of Grassroots social justice groups and was elected as a Delegate to the 2012 Democratic National Convention. She is a lover of fine wine, fine food and fine people and is the proud mother of actors Tendal Mann and Royce Mann and is spouse to Barry Stewart Mann. Sheri currently makes her home in GA for family reasons. She is committed to traveling wherever worthwhile projects take her, so far including Italy, Canada, New Orleans, New York, California, Tennessee, North Carolina, Michigan and Florida."
The poster children for SCHIP, the poor kids government healthcare, were on Medicaid while there parents (whose wedding was covered in the NYTs) owned pricey gentrified Baltimore real estate and a fleet of late model cars/trucks (they were injured in a Volvo crash). Privilged progs think they're poor because they have to rent when they go to Paris or Tuscany.
The whole article works better if you imagine Robby sighing heavily and shaking his head so slowly--so patiently--after penning each gem of a sentence.
He's apologizing to Asians in Orange county?
As someone who graduated from Paideia (granted, a while ago) I feel compelled to both defend (and slam) my alma mater.
Paideia actually is a good school academically, but they're not too different from Oberlin or any other ultra-liberal college.
85-90% of the kids there are ultra wealthy white kids (in a city that is about 60% black) who talk endlessly about the horrors visited upon the poor, but live in lily-white suburbs and have their parents pay for their college, and wouldn't ever set foot in the hood. The school endlessly bangs the 'diversity' drum, but shuts down any discussion that they deem incorrect. Cheerleaders are banned because it's 'sexist', and you call your teachers by their first names. I can only imagine the school has gotten worse since I left.
So basically, it's a school version of Boulder, CO.
My niece graduated from Paideia. She was neither ultra wealthy nor "white".
It's almost like '85-90%' doesn't cover everyone.
Personally I hope this little shit gets run over by a bus. Is that mean?
Hah!hahahahah.
He'll never be anywhere near where there are buses.
Silly.
I've said it before, I'll say it again. Would I want to wake up tomorrow black?
Nope.
But I sure as hell wouldn't want to wake up tomorrow Royce.
Many people on the other side of the ideological aisle trip over themselves in their haste to congratulate someone for a display of purely symbolic social signaling.
Robby X has his fans.
I get paid 98 bucks every hour for work at home on my laptop. I never thought I'd be able to do it but my good friend is earning 17k /monthly by doing this job and she showed me how. Try it out on following website....

Serious, legitimate question. Is robby an SJW?
For all intents and purposes.
He has never had a beatdown just for being white yet but it is just a matter of time till he gets a real education. Hopefully he survives it without permanent brain damage.
I'm not a Trumpist. Not even close. But I still don't like his poem. It's standard affluent white liberal guilt-speak. It's confusing the lack of disadvantage to privilege. He has done nothing wrong, but feels guilt for being born white.
The young Mann needs a balanced view regarding women:
"The Doctrinaire Institute for Women's Policy Research: A Comprehensive Look at Gender Equality" http://www.malemattersusa.wordpress.c.....-research/
And he needs to know how liberals obstructed blacks in a major way:
"Why affirmative action failed black families where it matters most" http://malemattersusa.wordpres.....-families/
Meanwhile, happy tourists, revelers and pedestrians in Nice were being mowed down by an 18-wheeler. Just an aside. Back to the poem story.
Who gives a shit what a 14 year old kid thinks about anything unless he's a character in "Game of Thrones"?
Just when I have hope that Robby is leaving the shallow end of the political pool for the deeper discussions, he seems to lose his nerve and heads back once the water gets above his knees.
That poor fucking kid. Fourteen years old and he's already had his brain sacrificed on the altar of social justice. May God have mercy on his soul.
Woke Paideia White Boy's Actual Dad
He makes a living doing the shit his boy did. I'd question how much of it was created by the teen.
i don't think white privilege is a myth, but i also roll my eyes at the suggestion that it's a disease that infects all of us white folks.
also, give the kid a break. i remember some of the crap i thought at 14, and recoil in horror.
I'm starting to think that these people who apologize for their white privilege are the most arrogant pricks on the planet. It sounds more like humble bragging to me.
If it's not Ta-Nahisi Coates complaining about the burdens of being a wealthy black guy, it's turds apologizing for their original sin of being white and pledging to do their part to shoulder the white man's burden.
Absurd that he's in the Atlanta area, which has a large number of middle and upper income black people (not to mention plenty of well-off Asians). If pretty white boy got out of the house more often he'd see that.
If you think you're superior b/c you're white, just come to Atlanta where there are plenty of successful dark skinned folks who will make you feel like poor trash.
Privilege is bull shit.
Hell, I had to take "cultural studies" in college. I distinctly remember the week about racism, where our professor told us that, yes, it is rational to make inferences about people based on race, but the diversity of individuals is too great to warrant judging someone by their race. Which actually makes some sense: it definitely looks like black people have more likelihood of being professional basketball players, even though all black people can't be professional basketball players. And this was from a leftist.
OK. Apply that to privilege: yes, you can make inferences about people's privilege, but the diversity of individuals is too great to ever judge someone as privileged.
For example, if your daughter is white, while Obama's is black, which one is more "privileged"? Sorry, daughter's of celebrities and public officials trumps whiteness when it comes to, say, going to Harvard or Yale.
In the end, privilege whining is reduced to the progressive whine everything reduces to: inequality rants justifying government intervention of some sort, usually which completely ignores the diversity of individuals in order to appeal to aggrieved groups for political motivations.
Wait till this little goober hits the "real world." Boy, will he be crying out loud for his "white boy privilege" back.
Only people that are losers demand forced equality.
Some day he will have enough privilege to serve me a latte.
