Two major health insurance companies, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona and Health Net, will drop Affordable Care Act plans next year in Maricopa and Pinal counties, forcing tens of thousands of consumers to switch plans next year.

Stung by financial losses on marketplace plans in 2014 and 2015, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona has filed documents with the Arizona Department of Insurance to discontinue such plans in Maricopa and Pinal counties. About 44,000 Blue Cross Blue Shield customers will need to find new sources of health coverage for 2017.

Similarly, state filings show Health Net will drop Affordable Care Act plans in Maricopa and Pinal counties next year, eliminating coverage for about 14,000 current Health Net customers. It intends to sell only mid-level silver and gold marketplace plans in Pima County next year, according to the insurer's filings.

VA Colluding with Union to Promote Anti-Reform Rally

An official at a Department of Veterans Affairs hospital is helping the largest federal employee union oppose efforts to reform the agency's network of hospitals.

A new report by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni, a nonprofit group that advocates for accountability at schools, found that just 23 of the institutions among the 76 deemed to be the "best" by U.S. News & World Report's 2016 rankings require history majors to take at least one U.S. history course.

Many elite schools, including Rice University and Johns Hopkins University, may require students to take courses about events from before 1750, or on East Asian and sub-Saharan African politics, without also demanding that they study the creation of the U.S. Constitution or the civil-rights movement.

Concealed Carrier Prevents Mass Shooting At SC Nightclub

After getting into a fight with another person, the 32-year-old suspect pulled out a gun and began to fire at a crowd of people gathered outside of the club, hitting and injuring four, WISTV reports. One of the victims, who holds a concealed-carry permit, shot back in self-defense, hitting the suspect in the leg.

The suspect has been charged with four counts of attempted murder. He was also charged for unlawfully carrying a weapon and for carrying one while committing a violent crime.

The concealed carrier who shot back won't be facing any charges, as his permit to carry was valid.

I was appalled when I hit a deer with my FJ Cruiser several years ago. I did not realize that the bumper was actually made out of styrofoam.

I replaced both the styrofoam and plastic bumpers with steel. Added about 450 pounds or so to the car, so I added a supercharger to haul it all around.

As an extra added bonus, the mileage went down by about 20%.
