10 killed, 20 wounded in explosion at Istanbul airport.
Shouldn't they be running out of suicide bombers soon?
Hello.
Meh.
Meh, indeed.
Shouldn't they be running out of suicide bombers soon?
As with suckers, there's one born every minute.
I also assume any Venn diagram of the two groups would have significant overlap.
what really sucks is if you blow yourself up, you don't get those heartwarming surprise reunions during football games and on Oprah. I suppose you could photo-op the family with whatever might be left, but it loses a little something. If only they could be more advanced like us.
Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn loses no-confidence vote.
The Party loses my no-extra-u's vote.
Wait, if you lose a no-confidence vote.......wouldn't that be the like winning a confidence vote?
Yeah, I'm trying to figure that one out...
"Edward Snowden's life as a robot."
Has anyone come up with SnowBot yet? They have? Shucks.
Where are the SnowBots of yesteryear?
Benghazi panel's report vindicates Clinton.
NOW that makes a difference!
Good stuff in The Atlantic
Whoops, was not supposed to be a reply.
Sadly, most people will think you're nuts when you try to make this argument.
But they don't have a good reply.
This argument in particular is one of those entry points where you can crack into someone's delusions and give them a little bit of cognitive dissonance. For a person to truly change their mind or outlook on something, I think they have to feel a bit of cognitive dissonance first. And even then they won't change their mind all at once. It's just the beginning. By the time they agree with you they'll have long forgotten the time you made the argument to them.
No kidding. This represents several replies I got the last time I tried to make this argument (in a discussion about funding a BBC-like channel in the US through a BBC-like TV license fee):
Can he breathe?
aw fuck. I fucked it up
Sweet.
Naturally, the li'l jackboot misses the real point:
Its not that "no laws should exist because all laws are fatal". Its that "no laws should exist unless its worth killing someone for."
Yeah, he didn't have another reply after I told him to talk to Eric Garner's family...
Yes. If you are making this argument it is good to have on hand two or three specific examples of people who have been killed for not following a silly law. The Eric Garner case is a good one, as is the case of that kid killed by the police in Socal for not wearing a bike helmet.
Or the guy playing in a house poker game.
I remember a story about somebody getting greased by the cops for unpaid parking tickets, too.
Pulled over for not paying child support...killed for running and "grabbing my taser".
Hey, if banning your TV tax would save just one life...
Excellent.
Not meh.
This is by no means an argument against having laws.
It sure is an argument for having very few laws.
It is an argument for having only necessary laws.
But all laws are "necessary" to someone out there.
I suppose so.
And to have people reconsider uttering, 'there oughta be a law'.
I have on several occasions responded, "Perhaps there ought not be a law".
The Atlantic is one of the better magazines out there. Once in a while, they have a true gem.
Having briefly skimmed the article, it doesn't 'vindicate' shit. It just does not add anymore fuel to the burning dumpster fire that was Hillary's tenure as SoS.
Have you read between the lines?
I can't decide if Soave is being sarcastic or not. If not that is one hell of a non sequitur, typical delusion of a Hildebeast supporter.
Faculty want Yale to drop the name "Calhoun College."
I guess they're Ron Dayne fans.
(I'm looking at bad odds that anyone gets this terrible joke)
I am guessing some reference to his pro days, as otherwise I dont get it.
And he didnt deserved the Heisman. He got a lifetime achievement award, but Hamilton was the best player than year.
Brian Calhoun was a running back at Wisconsin after Ron Dayne. Like I said, it wasn't a good joke. We can't all be Fist.
We can't all be Fist.
True enough; some of us are actually funny.
And intelligent, and handsome...
I was thinking of Don Calhoun - Patriots' running back in the 70's.
At least Charles Woodson beat Peyton Manning for the Heisman.
Yale produces shitty running backs?
"Todd Kranin" isn't very good alt-text, Robby.
He is playing with our expectations. It's very meta.
isn't very good alt-text, is exactly our expectations when Robby posts.
Never forget!
Todd Krainin is the greatest alt text in the history of alt text. What more could you possibly want?
Donald Trump is revolting!
He's going off-message, too!
I'd say he is revolting. He hasn't taken a bath in weeks.

"You should be alert to your surroundings and remain vigilant in crowded places popular with tourists," the Government advises. "You should take extra care in public places ? particularly those visited by foreigners."
Yep. If you remain vigilant you can avoid the blasts from multiple bombers.

Unfortunately, all the ambulances were sent to Constantinople.

Well, that's nobody's business but the Turks...

As if Donald Trump supports free trade.

Reposting since I'm an idiot:
Good stuff in The Atlantic
Not just those who do law for a living, of course. I always get "the look" when I point out that all authority of the State flows from the threat of force or the use of force. People seem to think I'm quoting Chairman Mao, who, while an authoritarian dink, did indeed understand that "Political power comes from the barrel of a gun."
We just don't like to admit it in polite company. Or any company, for that matter...
What I want to know is how the fuck did they accidentally let a libertarian teach at Yale Law?
The House report "vindicated Clinton"? Really. Talk about moving the goal posts. She fucked up and put a US ambassador in an unsecured compound and then when he was under attack told the military to stand down and did nothing while an ambassador and four other Americans were murdered.
Just exactly how does that vindicate her?
Perhaps they meant vindictive Clinton?
Or Clinton Vindaloo?

correlation is not causation, but maybe knee pads might cause some form of dyslexia
Yeah, the actual headline is
.
Jesus, even the Times is not being kind. Talk about equivocation. IN other news they found "no new evidence that Clinton eats small children".
The important thing is to emphasize that this is a partisan witch hunt on the part of the Republicans (and not the Democrats who went into the investigation with no intention of finding the facts) and all they uncovered was gross incompetence and self-serving lies, which we already knew about anyway.
That is the Clinton SOP. First lie your ass off. Then after your lies are no longer tenable, say "that is old news".
"No NEW evidence that the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor"
More to the point, "No new evidence that Clinton enables sexual predators. "
They found no evidence that she personally arranged the attack and supplied the ammo through her foundation.
It's official. The Democrats are now the Party of Free Trade. Thank God I don't have to hang out with you backwards racist fucktards anymore.
Yeah, nothing says "free trade" like supra national organizations enacting laws in the name of "trade harmonization".
Did something happen to you Hazel? You were never the best but you were never this fucking stupid. I honestly can't see anything short of a traumatic brain injury that would cause someone to conclude the Democrats are the party of free anything other than free shit.
Nothing happened to me. Of course, YOU were always a Team Red shill. What surprises me is how easily so many purported libertarians fall to the temptations of partisan hackery. My principles have been consistent throughout. Theirs have not.
My principles have been consistent throughout. Theirs have not.
If you support things like the TPP, they haven't been at all. There is nothing free or good for freedom about the TPP. Either you have no principles or you don't really understand the ones you have and will support anything as long as it has the magic words.
You'll oppose anything that has a D next to it.
No trade agreement is EVER perfect. Progress towards freer trade has always been incremental. And only an idiot or an intellectually dishonest hack opposes the better because it isn't the perfect.
Even a bra measurement?
Probably. The D would just constantly remind him of Hillary Clinton, which he would find emasculating.
I don't know about emasculating, but I would find that nauseating.
You'll oppose anything that has a D next to it.
No I don't. And even if I did, that wouldn't make the TPP anything other than what it is. And a lot of Republicans voted for it. If I were some team Red Shill that you imagine I am, I would be supporting it.
The facts are what they are. You have no argument to defend it. You just scream that I am Team Red, as if that makes the agreement something other than what it is.
You just scream that I am Team Red, as if that makes the agreement something other than what it is.
Dammit, John, you're a backwards racist fucktard, and THAT'S FINAL!
I hear John even ripped out the d key from his keyboard.
Yeah, but Trump is against it, and since you like Trump, that means you have to be against it too.
This is how your partisan shill brain works.
I can't remember John ever claiming to be a libertarian in the 10 years or so I've been here.
I don't think either half of TEAM BE RULED cares about free trade any longer.
But yeah, anybody who disagrees with poor put-upon John must be preternaturally stupid.
No. Not everyone, just Hazed. And a ton of Republicans supported TPP. It is not a partisan issue really. It is a crony capitalist versus the rest of us issue.
As if Hazel is the only person you've called utterly stupid.
Well, as one of them, I have to admit he might have a point. I worked my ass off to get a doctorate in science by doing original published research, spent 7 years in post-graduate work, and now work my ass off running an industrial research effort. Any change in the market and I'm out of a job. No pensions, of course.
By contrast, John went through law school (where the idea is to avoid doing anything original) in about half the time it took me to finish my education. And now he gets paid by perhaps the most useless and evil agency in the US government (using your and my forcibly-extracted tax dollars) to sit on his ass all day and argue with people on the internet, while being pretty much immune to ever getting fired, and can retire young on a fat pension.
So, really, who's the stupid one?
If only my imaginary life was as good as your imaginary one. My guess is you never graduated high school. But whatever makes you feel good.
You?
/ducks.
Yes. I have to actually work for a living and do productive things that will make money.
I am sure you do. You are not some nut who won't take their meds living on SSI disability or anything. NTTAWWT
And let me let you in on the big secret; "John" is a franchise. Do you think only one person can use a screen name and password?
I don't think either half of TEAM BE RULED cares about free trade any longer.
But yeah, anybody who disagrees with poor put-upon John must be preternaturally stupid.
Wait, are they? I thought Hilldog has been back-pedaling on that one for months now.
I thought Clinton was against the Pacific trade deal?
She was for it before she was against it.
I'll take that over the total non-support Trump is offering.
And you support thousand page secret agreements that are mostly crony pay offs?
Basically Hazel, you will support anything as long as it has some shinny objects and the right "magic words"?
You don't even rise to the level of troll these days.
As previously noted, the agreement is not secret. It's text is freely available online.
It was secret when it was passed. It was only released after it was passed. And it is even worse than its critics claimed. It is not free trade. It is bureaucratic tyranny and corporatism masquerading as free trade.
This.
I can be for free trade as a concept and against an agreement that is a bad deal.
TPP hasn't passed. The Senate isn't even expected to start considering it until fall.
You sound exactly like any number of progressive leftist anti-globalization idiots in Seattle 1999.
The bitching about the WTO is just a slightly more counter-cultural version of the bitching about TTP of Trump and his ilk.
She was for it before she was against it.
I'll take that
Well, at least you're not a partisan shill groping for reasons to support a shitty candidate like those other people.
Remember how much better it was when the only reason you needed to support Democrats was that you wanted to fuck Bill Clinton?
Obama made me cream my panties. Everyone knows that the way to a white girl's vote is through her mandingo fantasies.
She negotiated most of it while Secretary of State, then opposed it while running for the nomination when she learned that the Democratic base is vehemently against it.
Which backward racist fucktards?
The ones who emerged from the woodwork the instant Trump gave them validation for their fucked up attitudes.
Yeah Hazel, no one ever saw me or Gilmore around here until Trump showed up. You caught us.
YOU LEAVE ME OUT OF YOUR RACIST RACISM YOU FUCKING RACISTS
Dammit John, TOP MEN **almost** had racism nipped in the bud until Trump ran for President and ruined it all.
Then, just like in the UK, millions of these little xenophobic fucktards materialize out of nowhere and proceed to espouse identity, nationality, and individuality as if *they* had a right to.
You and your partisan hackery are so unoriginal. I'm going back to Team Evil Blue!
I admit it. I fund racism repellent. I disgusts me how Trump and his idiot followers have made it socially acceptable again.
"House Benghazi Report Finds No New Evidence of Wrongdoing "
The old evidence of wrongdoing is sufficient.
Excellent.
The old evidence of wrongdoing is sufficient.
Yeah, that was my first thought when I read the opening sentences of that article, too.
"Jury finds no new evidence of wrongdoing; returns guilty verdict."
House Republicans' Report Sheds New Light on Benghazi Attack
Previous accounts blamed the "tyranny of time and distance" plus the failure to have airplanes ready for the significant delay in moving military assets. But the report states conflicting orders from State Department and Pentagon officials over whether Marines should wear military uniforms or civilian attire also played a role.
Emphasis added. Wouldn't want to make the wrong impression.
So, lives were unnecessarily lost because people still haven't come to realize the turtleneck's potential as a tactical garment?
It's the Marine Corps. Always last in line for equipment upgrades. They can't afford swanky, Archer-approved kit.
The Marines can go in but they can't carry guns or wear uniforms. That might make the locals fee uncomfortable.
I guarantee you that is what they were thinking. These people are that fucking stupid.
Can you imagine the discussions that went on about this crap? The transcripts would be priceless.
I've never been on those types of meetings, but I imagine it's like the movies where the one grizzled general who did 36 tours in Vietnam is yelling to send in the Marines while some young kid fresh from the Academy talks about the "new way" of doing things.
Exactly opposite.
Generals don't get to be grizzled unless they know how to properly suck the egg.
The young kid puts together a simple plan to squash the bugs and the general plays all the political angles before taking a step.
Except the General (Carter Ham) got relieved of his command that day for trying to do something.
My thoughts as well.
Send in the Calvary! But no horses, or guns, or anything like that.
Help is on its way.
Pray for Jesus to show up so they'll torment him instead?
About as effective as the actual reaction, I guess.
Even with spell check, I still fucked it up. 😉
To be fair, Calvary is a big pile of dirt with some guys nailed to sticks on top of it.
If you could find a way to drop it on the bad guys, it could be quite effective.
Even better if you can find the way to make it mobile. Seeing it come over the horizon would unnerve the fiercest berserker!
Not ISIS though, I think that's part of their fairy tale.
That was an issue back on 2001 when Special Forces invaded Afghanistan (mentioned in the excellent Doug Stanton book Horse Soldiers). If I remember correctly they had to wear either a pants or shirt, but they did not have to wear both. Something stupid like that.
That uniforms are dictated at the Secretary of State level reveals how fucked the military has become. Christ, perhaps they worked out what type of toothpaste they should bring.
I bet it was the Marine Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team (FAST) based in Spain they were jerking around with the wardrobe changes. What went down in Benghazi was EXACTLY the kind of situation they train for. Sheer cowardice by the Administration not to use them.
Faculty want Yale to drop the name "Calhoun College."
I believe "University of Spoiled Children" is taken.
My decision to not go to Istanbul this summer is seeming like a wise one.
It's got to be pretty far down on the list of "terrible consequences of terrorist assholes", but turning some of the most beautiful and historic locations in the world into probably no-go zones for tourists is still a bad consequence of terrorist assholes.
Yep. That settles it. Every country I could potentially pilgrimage to now experiences large numbers of terrorist attacks. Except Iran. But if I pilgrimage THERE I get arrested for apostasy. No way to win.
Rome and Malta are still pretty OK. And parts of Greece.
The 1% fat and sexless: How Not To Have a High-Class Hamptons Sex Orgy
Hard news.
It will be the stupidest thing you read all day.
Funny, I didn't see any announcements about a Reason Hamptons meet-up.
Dude....*looks at username*...oh carry on then.
What, are we anti orgy talk now? Has Reason sunk so low?
What do you mean "we" you filthy collectivist!
I would imagine every swingers club is about like this. I have never been to one but I have also never met anyone I would ever want to have sex with who will admitting to going to one.
If you ever watched Real Sex on HBO this is pretty much exactly what they are like. Not easy to jerk off to, even for a teenager.
All things social are driven by women. And women for whatever reason generally don't dig that kind of thing. So women who have a choice. meaning hot ones, won't be there. Its really that simple.
And if they are hot and willing, they don't need a club. They can organize it in 45 minutes as the fancy strikes them.
45 min?...you at the bottom of the book Pan? 15 TOPS, and that is cause the pizza order takes 5 min.
I never get invited. I assume it takes more than five minutes to explain to guys that, yes, dicks may touch, no, that doesn't make it gay, unless you want it to. And then all the logistics of what goes where and such.
(if it's not clear, I'm assuming usual Swinger Club rules of three dudes for each broad)
Except in Canadian orgies, nothing ever gets done.
"You first."
"No, no, my friend, after you."
"Please, go ahead."
"Oh no, stick it in, my good sir."
Why am I seeing all these orgy and swinger articles today? Is it National Swingers Day or something?
It's obviously not giving Sugar Free any ideas.
Cut him some slack. He accidentally drank half of a non-diet Sprite and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Damnit, I told him to cut back on those stevia suppositories.
"It will be the stupidest thing you read all day."
Oh, really? The Democrat report on Benghazi mentioned Trump (yes, Trump) a couple dozen times.
Sorry, I exaggerated. "Trump" appears only 23 times.
http://democrats-benghazi.hous.....ragedy.pdf
That file name alone is an abomination.
Fuckin LOL. Trump ought to be paying these people rent for how much he's living in their heads.
And they had the unmitigated gall to say that the Republicans were politicizing the issue.
Not-so-hard news, maybe.
Does she partake in them?
Food at an orgy? Where do you set the snacks?
Faculty want Yale to drop the name "Calhoun College."
I have already suggested "The College Formerly Known As Calhoun College".
Coo Clux College?
Benghazi panel's report vindicates Clinton.
"Vindicates" is a really generous way to describe it, I think you mean "Shows gross ineptitude and a poorly executed cover-up, but doesn't prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a crime was committed."
Via Photography Is Not A Crime
Pomona, CA police illegally arrest man. Man's son videotapes that arrest. Pomona, CA police then beat and illegally arrest son for videotaping father's arrest. Another man videotapes that arrest and beating. Pomona, CA police then seize steal his phone and edit the video.
All of these allegations in more in a fairly ugly looking lawsuit.
A decade or so ago, I would never have believed police could possibly have done such things. Now I'm pretty sure they did.
Having lived in Pomona for a short bit and knowing a guy who ended up on their PD, I'm not at all surprised.
The LASD, the Pomona PD and Hawthorne PD (who I believe were disbanded) were the most egregious violators of civil rights in LA County as of 10 years ago.
trump is going to "make america wealthy again".
no one who doesn't understand the irony of that comment should be allowed to be president.
"directly criticizing Hillary Clinton's support for free trade deals."
I think you mean "free trade" deals.
Hillary's definition - Any deal that puts a kickback into the Clinton Foundation is free to trade!
Nigel Farage addresses the EU parliament
Lots of quotes of his opening lines: "When I came here 17 years ago with a goal to get Great Britain out of the EU, you all laughed at me. I have to say, you're not laughing now, are you?"
Not as covered: the idea that it's in both UK's and EU's interest to keep trading as they do now.
I commend him for engaging in some proper gloating.
In my dreams, PM Boris Johnson proposes Nigel as the UK Commissioner to replace their whiny baby-raging twat who quit because his side lost.
Sadly, I think rest of the Commission would have to agree.
It's lame. Lots of people and politicians are acting very childish in all this.
The quick clip I saw on one of the major morning shows from Farage today started off "Now I know none of you have ever held a proper job..."
It's like the second or third sentence in the clip I linked. They get SO insulted at that. Because, dammit, working for youth wing of political party, then a political party research tank, then the political party itself is a series of REAL IMPORTANT JOBS, dammit.
Twats and dicks. Twats and dicks as far as the eye can see.
What about assholes?
Because dicks fuck twats, but they also fuck assholes!
And twats are so close to assholes that they sometimes get full of shit!
Those run the European Commission and the bureaucracy.
Through an error in judgement, I found myself watching the Late Show with Colbert last night while eating dinner/swilling bourbon. I had not seen it before, but when it launched last year, I got the mistaken impression that Colbert was leaving the Comedy Central shtick behind in favor of CBS's bigger brand and wider audience. Whoops! What I saw was the same-old: audience of clapping seals, forced laughter in service of a higher cause, etc. He freaked the hell out about Brexit and idiot voters, and had a cute interview with itinerant childcare worker Mary Poppins about the hell that is now the UK. What I didn't see was anything approaching comedy or entertainment. I'm kind of surprised that CBS decided to go this route.
HIs ratings are abysmal. How CBS shareholders are not demanding the head of the idiots who hired him is beyond me.
I used to watch him on Comedy Central because I thought he was pretty funny most of the time. But I can't take an hour of him being himself and don't at all watch the CBS show. I think this is the way it is now. No one watches the Daily Show anymore and no one watches Colbert anymore.
Whatever you think of the Dailey Show, there is no denying that Jon Stewart was a funny and charming guy when he wanted to be. The Daily Show was about Jon Stewart. The rest of them, Colbert and Samantha Bee and whoever else, were just side kicks. They were all marginal talents who did well because Stewart was funny enough and talented enough to carry them and put them into the right situations where they could excel. Take Stewart away and they all fall on their ass.
Giving Coilbert or Bee their own show is like giving Ed McMahon his own talk show and thinking it would work.
YOU SHUT YOU'RE WHORE MOUTH!!!!
Okay, I take that back. I would rather watch Ed than Samantha Bee or Colbert.
Hear, hear, John. I think John Oliver is OK, from my limited exposure to his show, but you are right that Stewart carried the show. There were few talented correspondents over the years, but they all left to pursue their own shit.
New law supports first responders who treat injured pets
There was a Doogie Howser episode about this.
that show thought of everything before it was cool.
Benghazi panel's report vindicates Clinton.
"Fails to indict", "vindicates"; what's the diff?
Forget it Jake, its Robbytown
How is, "Finds no evidence of wrongdoing" = vindication?
That's taking the NYT's already-over-generous interpretation of the panel findings and taking it an extra-step further, as though the entire point of the Benghazi hearings were entirely about her.... when in reality Clinton's role was at best a side-show for which she already provided the most damning-testimony *herself*
e.g =
Oct 2015
versus Oct 2012
""State Department hasn't ruled out role of anti-Islam video in Libya strike, sources say""
I'll give Robby the benefit of the doubt and he's saying that Clinton isn't gonna suffer any consequences whatsoever from Benghazi fiasco. If she is de facto vindicated, why mince words?
I see no reason to give him any benefit of the doubt. He actually believes what he wrote.
You're acting as though Rico is doing more than transcribing (here, inaccurately) the first four Google News headlines that struck his fancy.
I think at this point he just runs a script as he sips his cocktail at the beachside bar.
Not suffering consequences is not the same as "vindication". None of the shortcomings the state-department was accused of were found to be "erroneous".
eg.
its just that the investigation didn't bring anything new to the table. That's not exculpatory of the things we already know she was guilty of - particularly the "Repeatedly lying about events after the fact"
Pretty sure he phrased it that way just for you, Gil.
"Robby trolling GILMORE" explains about half the articles he posts. You may be onto something!
That would make more sense if i were the only person who thinks its a stupid claim
He's trying, GILMORE. It's like when a boy pulls on girl's pigtails.
What I'm saying, I think Robby wants fashion advice, but doesn't know how to ask...
Every law is violent.
Indeed.
Donald Trump gave a major speech on jobs today, directly criticizing Hillary Clinton's support for free trade deals.
Are we still saying multi-thousand page secret trade pacts are "free trade deals"?
They're the Gold Standard.
I mean, it's not secret any more. Now that they passed it, you can review all multi-thousand pages of it yourself!
Two Armed Bystanders Stop Shooting From Escalating at Wal-Mart
Warning: Autoplay
"Police say while this incident ended fine, they do not encourage citizens to step in. Be "good witnesses," they told NEWS CENTER."
It's better for the cops to arrive late and let the body count rise until it's safe for them to engage.
These bystanders made the pigs look bad.
When seconds count, the police are minutes hours away.
"Your honor, we object to the Defense's use of crackers to influence testimony"
So, that whole "moron hicks in Britain are trying to find out what the EU is post-Brexit vote" meme?
Yeah, no
They've moved on from that to "old people shouldn't be allowed to vote".
.. and excorciating Daniel Hannan, who has always maintained that he is in favor of economic migration and consistently said that the big problem with the EU was the draconian restrictions it placed on non-EU migrants and visitors seeking entry into the UK for tricking people into voting BREXIT because it would reduce immigration.
This one is quite fascinating because he hasn't changed his tune once in all the speeches and QA sessions I've watched, and has been quite explicit in what he advocates for vis a vis immigration, and the BBC/CNN/Guardian etc are acting as if they caught him changing his tune.
For instance, in the month before the Brexit vote, 8,100 Britons googled "what is the eu."
And everyone of them was an over 40 rural British guy. None of them were children doing school projects or just curious. None of them were foreigners. Nope. They were all British UKIP voters, because RACISM or something.
Seriously, how fucking stupid can these people be?
Wait. How do we know that this just wasn't newly-sparked interest in the Star Wars "Expanded Universe"?
Sheesh, you're like the 8100th person to make that joke.
It doesn't vindicate her, Soave.
smdh.

"The DMCA came into existence because the lobbyists for these very-same people demanded it."
Well, then, dammit--keep writing legislation until something finally makes people behave they way I want them too!!
Question for you all: I'm looking to get out of southern Nevada as soon as is practical (probably a year or more). I like the southwestern climate and hate snow, but I can tolerate freezing my ass off. I'm not wealthy and very probably never going to be, so any place with a higher than average cost of living is pretty much out. A huge consideration would be availability of decent medical care/medical infrastructure, as Nevada's Indian reservation level of medical quality is a big part of the reason for leaving. Any recommendations? How is Arizona?
I would say Albuquerque. It rarely snows there. It gets cold but not for long. It has a great climate. It is a big city, so you can get decent healthcare.
Gonna agree with John on this one. It's actually a pretty cool place to be, especially if you dig the Southwest climate. Got its own little vibe going on, and not totally ruined by prog policies yet.
I'll definitely look into it, thanks.
I was considering Oklahoma City as well, but I'm a little put off by the tornadoes and baseball-sized hail. Cheap property though.
I lived in OKC on and off for 11 years. Albuquerque is much better. There is a big mountain range that runs east of Albuquerque that insulates it from the extremes of the plains. Oklahoma is horribly hot in the summer, is pretty humid on top of that, and can be brutally cold in the winter. The US Army artillery school is at Fort Sill, which is about two hours SW of OKC. Winters on the ranges there are legendary. People who have been stationed in Fort Drum, New York will claim the coldest they have ever been was at artillery AIT in January.
And the storms are brutal. It is not just the tornados. My sister lives out there and she had the windows knocked out of her car and her roof destroyed by a hail storm. You don't get any of that nonsense in Albuquerque.
Thanks for the advice. Probably go ahead and scratch OKC off the list.
I've heard Albuquerque has a big problem with meth dealers and gangs. There was a really long, five year documentary about it a few years ago.
What city doesn't. Live in a good neighborhood and own a gun. And New Mexico has very civilized gun laws. Open carry is universal. No permit required.
I live in a meth infested shithole already, so I'm pretty used to that. The people across the street from me were out in front of their place having it out a couple weeks ago, with one screaming at the other what a piece of shit "the crystal" had turned him into.
The sound you heard was a good joke whizzing over people's heads.
I got it. Probably the best joke on these here PM links.
Goddammit.
In my defense, the last TV series I watched was House.
BB was seriously great. My wife and I are not at all TV people, but once it came out on Netflix, we gave it a try based on recommendations from friends we trust. After two-three episodes, we were hooked and went on a bingewatch.
Better Call Saul is a worthy prequel, but it's 20 times better if you've first seen BB.
I would struggle to spell Albakerkee.
That is because you are French.
Note to all people who don't know Rufus and the comedians around here who mock him: He is NOT French just because he's from Qwee-beck.
HE'S UNIVERSAL.
Universal? Sounds like somethin' a cheese-eatin' surrender monkey might say.
*spits on ground*
I am sorry Rufus. That was a low blow.
I hear the towels at the Albuquerque Holiday Inn are oh so very fluffy, too.
Any anyone on the street will gladly shave your back for a nickel?
I'd give you +1 Jelly Donut, but we're all out of jelly donuts.
I lived in Albuquerque for several years. Stay away from the areas around the "Big I" and Kirtland Air Force Base for places to live, and you should be golden. Cost of living is reasonable (especially if you're single), you'll only deal with about 2-3 snowfalls a year, if that, and the hospitals are perfectly fine. It's also in a relatively central location geographically, so if you want to visit Vegas, Denver, Dallas, El Paso, Phoenix, Utah, or SoCal, you can do so easily and over a short vacation. Do NOT drive after 10-11 pm, however; a good chunk of the populace collects DUIs like some people collect baseball cards.
Look for areas north of Wyoming Blvd on the east side and west of Unser Blvd on the west side for the most ideal living spots. Rio Rancho is nice, too, and Los Lunas to the south isn't a bad bedroom community.
Will definitely bookmark this post, thanks.
I used to live in Las Vegas and currently live in a little town about 60 miles west of there, so, I'm very used to drunk drivers. Also the novelty of the strip is looooong since worn off. Things could change, of course, but as of right now, I want the last time I ever see Las Vegas to be from the rearview window of a Uhaul.
Honestly, if it hadn't been for a work relocation, I'd still be happily living there. I loved the weather in particular and the city just has a funky vibe to it that's hard to describe, but without the pretentiousness that you'd find in Santa Fe. My family and I would probably jump at the chance to move back if it came up again.
I usually recommend Louisiana to people looking to relocate, but if you like southwestern climate and good medical infrastructure, I doubt it's your cup of tea.
My folks chose Prescott AZ for those reasons and are pretty happy so far.
Thanks, I'll check that out too.
If you decide on Tucson, we can connect off-line and I'll be happy to give some pointers.
I live in New Mexico and have considered Prescott as a retirement home.
Someone once said to me, "I could live in any of the Four Corners states" and I guess I have to agree.
Bonus: best green chile on the planet. Bite me Colorado.
... Hobbit
ABQ has some nice areas, and good medical care. It has that fabulous high desert climate, and at a mile of altitude it doesn't get that hot in the summer.
In many ways, Tucson is very comparable to ABQ. We have excellent medical care here (ahem). Our elevation is lower, so we get quite a bit warmer than ABQ in the summer, but not nearly as chilly in the winter.
And, of course, if you want a bigger city, there's Phoenix. Phoenix is also more expensive and even hotter than Tucson.
Didn't realize you were in Tucson RC. Definitely wouldn't mind checking it out. If I ever blow through there I'll try and look you up.
Are we still saying multi-thousand page secret trade pacts are "free trade deals"?
Let's not forget the under-the-table "regulatory harmonization"; if that's not free trade, what is?
If Taylor Swift Can't Join, then It Shouldn't Exist
It's official. The Democrats are now the Party of Free Trade. Thank God I don't have to hang out with you backwards racist fucktards anymore.
Even better- you can talk all you want about mandatory liability insurance for gun owners without being called a retard when you move to HuffPo.

Colorado company releases wine for cats
This is why the hate us.
Sounds like a fantastic idea, though I doubt their natural sugar content is high enough. Might have to fortify the wine with table sugar if the market price of diabetic cats is prohibitive.
The UPI on the Benghazi report
The report confirmed previous findings that U.S. military forces stationed in Europe couldn't have reached Benghazi in time to rescue the personnel who died.
I am pretty sure it confirmed the exact opposite.
With Stevens missing, the report noted, "the White House convened a roughly two-hour meeting at 7:30 p.m., which resulted in action items focused on a YouTube video, and others containing the phrases '[i]f any deployment is made,' and 'Libya must agree to any deployment,' and '[w]ill not deploy until order comes to go to either Tripoli or Benghazi.' "
A US Ambassador is under attack and their only concern was how to spin it politically. This totally vindicated Hillary.
Look, John, it's sad but not much you can do for the dead. While the living have careers that need salvaging. Future of the nation depends on that!
And think of how much better the families will feel after we throw that poor bastard who made the Youtube video in prison?
No shit. If? If? If?
Not to mention at the time of the attacks, there was no way to know (unless someone has a 100% accurate crystal ball) if a rescueresponse would be unsuccessful. It's easy to do so in hindsight but there was no way to do so as it was unfolding and the fact that they weren't doing so means they were willing to let Americans die. Even if they didn't get there in time, they could recover the bodies and put some fucking heads on stakes as a warning to the rest.
Worrying about YouTube videos? Is this an episode of Veep where they get their intel from following blogs and Twitter?
It wasn't "time o'clock."
The thing about Benghazi is, its right on the Mediterranean coast. A pretty quick airplane flight European bases. I don't recall where the closest rapid deployment unit was, but I seem to recall they could have been over Benghazi in a couple of hours.
A Spooky gunship over Benghazi, if it could connect with the fighters on the ground, would probably have sorted out the attack in a matter of minutes.
It sounds to me like the committee is just as involved in covering up what actually happened as it was trying to find something to smear Clinton with.
Stevens was in Benghazi because he wanted to meet w/ his Turkish counterpart *secretly*. He could just as well have met the guy in Tripoli; however, it would have been public-record.
As a man whose 83% of playing time is on Lucio, Mercy and Symmetra, I endorse this video:
Play Support!
Lucio? Mercy? Symmetra? Those aren't champions in League of Legends...
I know it's hard to believe, but there's a game where playing a support character is not a merely a boring, repetitive, hopeless struggle against stupidity in a vain effort to push idiots into doing what is needed to win....
It's an interesting hopeless struggle against stupidity in a vain effort to push idiots into doing what is needed to win!
Is this about the new COD?
NO SPOILERS!
Fuck...
I didn't look at the link. I thought this was another one of those fucking links about soccer.
Why is there a rollerblading rasta-man ripped from Jet Set Radio in that game? I only played him for maybe 45 seconds in the beta; is his character given a true speciality, or is he just a variation of a standard healer?
He's an AOE healer whose big deal is that he's survivable, which I why I clocked 10 hours on him and 8 on Mercy, with much better win%. Unlike Mercy, you can heal while shooting or dodging the assholes on the other side. He can also give speed boost instead of healing, for those times when you need to get to point quickly.
If you are good (which I'm not), his 'bounce enemies back' ability can be used to insta-kill people (groups even) by knocking them off cliffs and bridges, and his wall-riding ability is very very good for sneaking in some overtime.
He also causes Reihardt (old German guy) to complain about music these days, and wax about the classics, like Hasslehoff.

I will award conceptual-prizes to people who can come up with the best "Proposed Rides" for a Saudi Arabian Six-Flags Theme Park
My personal contribution
"Female Bumper-Cars: Only Allowed To Ride As Passengers"
"Camel Racing: feel like you are six year old again!"
"Hide and Seek: our stones will really tell you if Jew is behind them!"
"Fall of the Sassanid Empire" (ride takes 9 months to set up, is over in 30 seconds)
"Jewtout: Test your aim by shooting at small, Jewish-themed targets."
- Third Place prize: A knockoff Rolex
-Second place prize: A Lionel Ritchie album
-Winning prize: You get to rape your cousin
I think a waterslide-toboggan-ride called "Ride the Jews into the Sea" would have also worked.
I wonder how many immigrant workers will die during its construction?
If you guess closest to the right number, you win a giant teddy-bear
The answer from the Saudis is - "who cares?"
Or, "who's counting?"

I would have given you more points for referencing the Umma, the global caliphate, and animatronic beheadings of infidels, but it still the best thing anyone's suggested.
Thanks! Yeah those are good additions. My description was kind of rushed
The Gay Drop? an exciting plunge from the side of a ten story building?
Stone the slut - A woman who had sex outside of marriage is tied to a pole and competitors get 3 stones for a dollar to try to stop her heart. Small prize for an eye or tooth knocked out, get to f the corpse for first prize.

Mr. Atta's Wild Ride.
Screams of terror turn into laffter as the coach slams into the breakaway building facade amongst fire, smoke, and rubber body parts.
This again emphasizes the need for common sense bomb control legislation.
Is this a misplaced post to GILMORE's Saudi amusement ride contest like my post?
No, it's left justified.
News is now reporting 28 dead. Shit.
Truly sad.
I hope Turkey can succeed where the US failed, and stop the Republican Christian reign of terror.
Possibly. Has anyone done an analysis on primary voting vs. the actual Primary results?
If my horrible 30yo memory serves me, Sanders and Trump did better than the polls and Clinton did worse
Get used to saying it:
President Trump.
"Owa Tagu Siam"
Lake McKinkey?
So everyone is still going to refer to it as Lake Calhoun?
I thought Trump pretty much met what the polls said. Granted, primary polls may not be a very good proxy for GE ones.
That is about accurate. Ted Cruz surprised a few times, as well, because he had developed a better get-out-the-vote campaign than Trump (and they were fighting over a lot of the same Republicans).
The biggest shock, if I recall correctly, was Sanders's winning Michigan, when polls had Hillary up by ~20 points the day of.
"Presiden Trump." "President Rump." Nah, it'll have to be "President Donald".
I say go with President Hair. Then we can pretend Robby is in charge.
Is that from the Land of Sky Blue Waters?
