In the last 15 years, nearly 60,000 factories in this country have closed, and more than 4.8 million well-paid manufacturing jobs have disappeared. Much of this is related to disastrous trade agreements that encourage corporations to move to low-wage countries.

So which is it, Bernie? Should we mourn for the 3rd world and their squalid living conditions and persistent unemployment? Or should we castigate US companies for providing jobs that move those selfsame people out of abject poverty because unionization and regulation drove them overseas?

What a fuckstick. I want to punch anyone comparing the net worth of "the bottom nth percentile" with anything. There's a ton of Americans who live like kings compared to a wealthy Ethiopian but have a negative net worth because they borrowed money. By definition, in a world where lending is available one rich guy is going to have more wealth than a million debtors, and that's GOOD Bernie. It's GOOD because it means some fast food manager or garbageman or graphic designer can actually buy houses and cars and education without saving money until s/he's 50 to do so.
