We're gonna have so many lists, you get tired of listing!
[wild applause]
Also, you got one on Fist. Go, you.
Fist got fisted the AM links, too. Somebody should probably check on him.
Google says his last post was yesterday.
Stay out of my business, Google!
Damn, he's back. :-p
+1 right to be forgotten
Fist hasn't posted in this thread yet? has he posted today?
Also, you got one on Fist. Go, you.
Dammit, it's a lot less satisfying when he doesn't even bother showing up. Someday I'll beat him in an honest-to-goodness Fist-off.
And this has been our first annual Day without Fist of Etiquette. I hope it taught you all a valuable lesson, that if you take me for granted, you could lose me and end up with substandard commenting like [holds hand up to shield mouth from This Machine] This Machine's.
This fucking guy. [gently punches Eugene in shoulder]
I didn't notice any drop-off in the quality of commenting.

Hmm? What was that? Something about granite?
Whatever.
Well, it backfired spectacularly.

I missed you, Fist.
Yeahhhhhh I missed you.

You are appealing to my inner Lilith fair, Crusty.
I love you, man. No homo.
Finally, a Crusty link with no regret.

These masturbation-marathon euphemisms...
The list is gonna be YUUUGE, and all of our names will be on it.
F***ing Trumpkins got the GOP to nominate a total dunce.
"Donald Trump joined Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in calling for the no-fly list, a poorly curated list of predominantly Muslim names, to be used to prohibit gun sales to certain people and says he would call on the NRA, which endorsed him, to back that position."
Yeh. Um. That's not good.
Goofballs. All three of them.
Did we forget our manners, today?

That's "Eh!," dumbass.

Never would have guessed Islamic terrorism would be the straw that broke the 2nd amendment.
Islam makes for some strange bedfellows.
The terrorists *and* the pants-shitters have won!
Thankfully, the president does not have the power to do this on his own.
Yeah, it's not like he can use executive orders or something to completely override a legislature and judiciary system that won't bother to stand in his way.
A democrat can, but a republican can't. That alone makes trump more appealing than hildog.
The islamists have known for a long time that most Americans will trade their rights for the illusion of security.
Trading Liberty for Security makes one a special kind of prostitute.
Islamists have been reading Benjamin Franklin?
Quite possibly. I haven't read the bio (is there one?) of OBL, but he studied the West and was intent on causing us to turn on ourselves.
Not just the 2nd, but the 4th, 5th, and soon the 1st.
The first is about to be intubated; never a good sign.

How dare they move their stuff around in the same general vicinity as our stuff, right in their back yard!
It's like they don't even American exceptionalism! SMDH
If Russia and China didn't want trouble, they shouldn't have built their countries so close to our military bases.
If a Chinese warship was patrolling the Caribbean, I would hope they would be shadowed by the US Navy.
I mean, that's their job, right?
I thought it was delivering food supplies and doing Blue Angels air shows. That's what they show in the Global Force for Good commercials.
I thought that job was spreading VD to the natives?

Women. You can't give them the vote...pass the beer nuts.
The country's governance has gotten sooooo much better since 1920 when women started voting.

That's theft and assault, but not robbery.
Battery if they struck him with the car.
It could very well be agg assault.

Wouldn't striking the man with a car be the more important criminal issue?
I would have thought so as well.
Managers at McDonald's have thankless jobs.
Not for long. Once that minimum wage doubles, there won't be anyone to manage and the kiosk will be able to electrocute any punk trying to access the soda machine without a QR code.
And deservedly so.
He faces a felony count for trying to run someone over.
Or he faces a felony count for someone running in front of his car and then darting out of the way as he pulled out of the lot, depending on how it actually went down.
You linked to your own Trump article on the no-fly list thing. He said he's meeting with the NRA. The NRA has a pretty reasonable stance on the subject. Hopefully they'll set him straight. Either way, I haven't seen Trump make a no guns for people on the list an official policy stance yet.
The NRA endorsed Trump. They deserve the no-buy list that Trump's endorsing.
If only this would be the reason they rescinded their endorsement and gave the nod to Gary.
Tying gun rights to investigation is just as bad as tying it to a list. The only proper way to analyze any gun law is to ask "how would this be used if Michael Bloomberg was President?"
A horrible terrorist sent his photos of his penis to other men.
It gets worse:

Jesse is much more eloquent than that.
So now we need to see the pics to understand what really happened.

But I've often wondered why, after 9/11, that Americans didn't put a halt to automatic circumcision.
Freedom Foreskins!
They did by 2012 when my boy was born. The OB said that his practice considered it a cosmetic surgery, not a medically advisable procedure (or something along those lines), and advise against it unless our religion prescribed it.
Our OBGYN offered for an extra hundred bucks. But we had to do a whole thing on the 8th day, party and all.
Really not something to celebrate when you think about it.

I try. Don't ask that question 'round these parts.
I guess now we know why you're called crusty..../scampers away
It used to be a very contentious topic here.
I thought the health benefits were supposed to outweigh the risks
The OB said that if I expected my son to be poor, black, live in the inner city, and possibly trade sex for drugs, there were proven benefits. Outside of that demographic, the evidence was much less significant.

A: You can go down on me, but the juice might kill you.
Sorry, I'm not interested in being friends with midgets
'She held it out in front of her and said, "This is the size of Marcus Allen."'
FUCKING BRUTAL.
How big was the chunk of driftwood? Was it two inches long or was it some foot and a half log as thick as your arm? I am not getting exactly what the implication was.
The size of your thigh.
That is what I thought.
My scrawny little thigh? Or Warty's thigh?
Your scrawny little thigh is still over a foot long, right?
Did anyone else laugh at John's comment?
It was meant to be funny and serious. If you are going to post about Marcus Allen's dick, be clear with your information.
.
Well, to be honest, in this work-a-day, modern world of ours, that is sage advice.
Spam reported.
"A Chinese warship "shadowed" U.S. ships as they were patrolling the South China Sea."
Why is this news? I'd expect the US to shadow any Chinese Navy ships operating near US waters.
B-bub-buh-but it's OKAY when WE violate someone else's waters!!
Yeah, this reminds me of when, recently, Iran apprehended some idiots in the Navy who sailed into Iranian waters, only to soon release them, and everyone got all offended at the fact Iran did that, as if America would NEVER do something similar if a Iranian warship sailed straight into US waters.
The numbers add up: Peeing in the shower makes sense
"Flush"???? You don't pee on the walls and door of the shower! Or, at least I don't.
How is this even a question? If I can pee in the women's room I can pee in the shower too. It's 2016 and my right to urinate shall not be infringed!
But all those other freedoms, yeah, those are scary. You can take those.
My ex-girlfriend and I used to do this all the time. Way to finally catch up, rest of the world.
This is with water, unlike the 100% golden that you two used to do.

One Nation: A generation of start-ups can't get started

More likely you couldn't copy/paste correctly. :-p
Nah, I had to remove the URL - I broke it intentionally. The comment form would choke on it with error code 877. It does with certain links for whatever reason.
That's a funny way to say that you have diabetes.
I hate all of you
Alt-headline: One Nation: A generation of start-ups can't get started it up.
They don't know how to run a business?
Profits are evil.
They don't need to know. Bernie will run it for them.
I don't have the capital to start my own.
They don't have a clue and aren't really interested in running a business. They just know that they are special snowflakes and don't want to have a boss.
Daniel Wilmoth, research economist for Office of Advocacy, said millennials have a strong interest in entrepreneurship, based on many surveys. But millennials aren't starting new businesses at the same pace as earlier generations.
It's hard to know the exact reason, but Wilmoth says some growth in new start-ups depends on the development of new technology and many breakthroughs took place before many millennials were born.
Yes, it's because all of the technology has been invented, nothing to do with all of the increasing regulations
Running a business is harder work than even a regular old job and there is no one to blame if you cannot earn a living wage.
Maybe because you need to have accumulated some sort of startup capital before you can actually startup something.
Yeah, I'd guess that more student debt = fewer startups.
Harry Reid said that "You can go to a gun show and come away with a fully automatic assault rifle, without a background check". I mean... maybe, if both you and the seller were willing to break multiple federal laws carrying serious prison time.
And people share that stuff like it's the gospel truth.
Of course. Don't you remember, Reid heard from someone that Romney didn't pay any taxes?
Harry Reid - who carefully kept his NRA rating until he was never going to run again.
People are idiots. Sadly fact checking is non existent in this day and age.
unless a republican says something...
Harry Reid is an admitted liar. He needs to be reminded of that every time he opens his pie hole.
same here, right?
500 bucks the day after the shooting?
That seems a little cheap, if you know what I mean. And I think you do.
Someone on Facebook posted that and claimed lots of guns go front VT to California. Of course we can't study it because the nra blocked it.
Also, I thought you could only transfer the way they did if you're family. Otherwise ID is required
Depends on the state. Seems dumb to sell a weapon without documentation. What happens when that gun found at a crime scene and you are the last person in the ATF chain of custody?
The shooter passed a background check, so it seems irrelevant that he could have driven to Vermont instead.
Likewise in California.
I mean, if you already have the right Federal Firearms License to own automatic weapons, this is technically true. There is no need to do a background check because the ATF already did when you applied for the license, and reserves the right to turn up at your house with a fat-fingered proctologist and no lube without a warrant or additional justification.
A story unrelated to penis: The Blazer Experiment
I think it makes a point similar to Balko's story about the SLC police chief who made a point of not using riot police to clear out occupy protestors.
The reason police uniforms were originally blue was to distinguish them from red military uniforms.
I prefer Montreal Police clown pants.
If this is a year of sound bites, here's a sound-bite for you: Trum pand Hillary want apartheid-style banning orders.
An earlier post quoted Mark Joseph Stern:
"If the government can revoke your right to access firearms simply because it has decided to place you on a secret, notoriously inaccurate list, it could presumably restrict your other rights in a similar manner. You could be forbidden from advocating for causes you believe in, or associating with like-minded activists; your right against intrusive, unreasonable searches could be suspended. And you would have no recourse: The government could simply declare that, as a name on a covert list, you are owed no due process at all."
This comes close to describing the apartheid-era banning orders, though to be fair to the apartheid fanciers, banning orders were shown to the targeted person and to the media (so that they would know not to quote him).
Hammer Trumpery on this issue - "why do you want to put us on the road to banning orders like they had in apartheid South Africa?"
Don't let them monopolize the emotional, "look we're against bad things" sound bites.
Isn't there a former banning-order victim who can speak to this?
And the sites with that scene from Cry Freedom are probably pirate sites, so I won't link to them, but at one point a cop comes up to Donald Woods and reads the banning order - not to be with more than one person at a time, to live only in a specified magisterial district, not to join organizations or talk to the press, etc.
And before Woods was banned, he had to work around Biko's ban.
There is, but there's nothing we can do. He has diplomatic immunity!
Wrong kind of ban.
A sheriff in Florida says there's "no question" the two-year-old snatched by an alligator at a Disney resort is dead.
If by "no question" you mean "we found his body" then sure, 'cause that's what the linked story reports.
It's Disney. The kid is being raised by a family of friendly alligators.
I think that's sheriff-speak for "ok, folks, nothing to see here; move along."
Update: Body recovered of 2-year-old dragged into water by gator at Disney lake
fuck that's horrific.
Damn. I mean, kinda knew the toddler didn't make it, but still. That sucks.

Welp. Whatever slim chance The Donald had at the presidency is now gone with that stupid no-fly list statement.

If he senses that, he'll meet with the NRA and announce his decision to oppose the list.
I think he's already feeling the twitlash from that statement.

Gun Control filibuster?
http://the-daily.buzz/democrat.....n-control/
Good. Go right ahead.
Filibuster does not mean what he thinks it means.
filibustering Congress to adopt an error-riddled secret list to strip unalienable rights from Americans is just like Rand's filibuster of our government putting Americans on a secret drone kill list.. if by "just like" i really mean "the exact opposite."
I don't think that word means what he thinks it means.
He's not trying to stop a piece of bad legislation. He's throwing a tantrum until a (horrible unconstitutional) bill gets written, passed through committee, voted on, and approved by the House.
I can't see that working.

Investigators say the wife of the Orlando shooter tried to talk him out of an attack, while the FBI says there are no impending charges against her.
So she says she tried to talk him out of it but never called the cops and basically just watched it happen. And they are not going to charge that bitch? What the fuck?
She drove him to case the place, and drove him to buy ammo. How is that not a crime?
It is a total crime. It is conspiracy. You can get off with accessory before the fact if you leave the conspiracy and try to stop it. If you do nothing, you are still a conspirator. She should be going to the chair.
It's clear who wears the pants in the family.
It is funny how often it is the woman in the family who calls the shots in patriarchal societies. There is no way that crazy Saudi bitch wasn't calling the shots for the couple in San Bernidino. This bitch probably put the guy up to. Tortured him for being gay and told him his only choice was to die for the jihad or go to hell.
Objection, your honor. Statement is 100% supposition.

My guess is that it will come out in some emails or instant messages whether she was for or against the rampage.
Supposedly he beat his ex-wife, so I'm not sure how about that. It could be the case that she was also abused, and that's why she didn't speak up (not that it excuses it legally or morally).
I posted this earlier in another thread. It's just too derpy not to post again in the PM Links.
Michelle Obama urges men at women's summit to 'be better'
9. What Obama wants men to do to help women.
"Be better. Be better at everything. Be better fathers. Good lord, just being good fathers who love your daughters and are providing a solid example of what it means to be a good man in the world, showing them what it feels like to be loved. That is the greatest gift that the men in my life gave to me. And we've talked about this, the fact that I never experienced abuse at the hands of any man in my life. And that's sad to say that that's a rare reality. So men can be better at that.
"Men can be better husbands, which is be a part of your family's life. Do the dishes. Don't 'babysit' your children. You don't 'babysit' your own children. Be engaged. Don't just think going to work and coming home makes you a man. Being a father, being engaged, all that stuff is important. Be a better employer. When you are sitting at a seat of power at a table of any kind and you look around you and just see you, it's just you and a bunch of men around a table, on a golf course, making deals, and you allow that to happen, and you're okay with that ? be better. . . Just be better."
I wish Obama would have just stayed home in Hyde Park doing dishes and playing with his kids.
How about you be a better President? How about that, Potsie? Then we can talk about better fathers.
It was Chewbacca making these comments
Yeh. My bad. Whatever.
Did anyone take this as her talking about her husband needing to be a better father? I think she is. She was talking about her own father as the greatest gift men in life gave to her..not Barry to her kids
ROTFL.
I'm sorry but I've been married twice and in both of my marriages I did way more for the family than my wife did.
I actually see very little evidence that women have been doing more work in families for more than 20 years.
We are better than women.
Men have never complained about not having enough time for their kids, or for home improvement, or their fitness, or showing the partner a great night?
Obama: "You know why? Because they don't have to balance anything. Sorry. And I hope that that is changing, but so many men don't have to do it all."[...]
The fuck?!!
Hey, Michelle, this single dad has some laundry backed up at my house-- why doesn't your ass come over and help a brother "do it all". And don't wear anything "complicated".
"You know, I just don't have the time. I just don't; I don't find a way to balance.'"
Maybe no man having such difficulties would whine about it, especially to you?
No, it's because whining among males is a status-lowerer, not a status-booster. Shit, I feel stretched in too many directions all the time, but that's just fucking life. You have responsibilities and obligations and sometimes they conflict, and sometimes the only way to avoid a conflict is to sacrifice your own interest. Deal.

I'm having a flashback to yesterday's podcast where Matt Welch reminded his peers of the primary rule in jounalism, aka = "DONT SAY THINGS YOU DONT KNOW ARE TRUE"
he was referring to the typical reports circulated after mass-shootings where people quickly recycle whatever rumors they've heard.
Maybe he should hang that on the wall somewhere in the office.
He's too busy handing boxes of file folders to KMW.
BTW, isn't that Fifth Column podcast the best fucking thing going in media/politics?
I find myself literally waiting breathlessly for the next episode.
Is it really that good? I don't usually listen to podcasts n' shit but if it's worth checking out I'll give it a listen.
I would not go so far as to say I am breathlessly awaiting the next episode, but it is very good. Those three do a fine job.
I'll agree with Crusty. It's quite good, although they spend too much time joking around. (I usually listen during my morning walk of 35-40 mins and the damned thing lasts an hour.)
Everything Matt Welch does is well done. And Kmele Foster is gold. Moynihan supplies the comic relief and some mild controversy.
I'll agree with Crusty. It's quite good, although they spend too much time joking around.
Disagree. The joking around makes it accessible and listenable. If it were 60 minutes of self-aggrandizing seriousness, and frowny-culture analysis, it'd be dull and just like everything else.
This is clearly a podcast done by three highly experience journalists who also happen to be good friends, and don't feel the need to fluff each other's bios.

Come on, this is probably the only place you can tell it!
Nah, it's just the sad way my brain works. I don't sit around and craft jokes in my head, I just read stories and headlines and something involuntarily triggers and wham, I've got a one-liner. There are people on the boards who were close to this tragedy so I'm leaving it alone.
It's grief all the way down.

In looking through those tweets, I did not realize the Saudis were so pro-Clinton and were funding her campaign. Interesting to say the least. And no cable news outlet will say a word about it. CNN - Clinton News Network, MSNBC - MSDNC, and Fox News - Partly owned by a Saudi prince.
It is rather remarkable isn't it?
How come whenever I follow a Twitter link I never see what was promised?
The reason squirrels wouldn't take the link.
It's pretty easy and quick to do the html href thing.
I probably don't understand how Twitter works. I've never tried to do anything with it. But I thought I would see some of Yaninopolous's supposedly hateful tweets when I cut and pasted the link.

Reporter blames the NC Bathroom law for the Orlando attack

This woman logic is a bit curious to say the least. It wasn't Islamic terrorism it was just some homophobic guy using his religion as an excuse. So, a homophobic religion attracts homophobic people as its followers. And that means it isn't about the religion how?
It was random, he could have just as easily claimed credit on behalf of the Sufi Meditation Collective or the Jain Central Committee.
/sarc
People are just using Islam as an excuse. Gee, I wonder why that is? Could it be that Islam encourages them to want to kill gays? Nah. Couldn't be that.
And possibly a self-loathing gay guy too. Being a member of a religion that tells you that being gay is unacceptable and means you deserve death might just have something to do with that.
That to. I am sure a lot of people who hated Jews in the first place became Nazis. I don't see how that somehow means Nazism had nothing to do with the Holocaust.
A combination of that, and an inability to get any action. He may have been suffering from a bit of Elliot Rodger Syndrome.
This shit just gets dumber and dumber. On the most recent 5th Column podcast Moynihan referred to someone as "deliberately stupid" which I think applies here.
I think a lot of people were never taught how to reason. By her logic the actions of someone like Joseph Mengele had nothing to do with fascism. Mengele was just a Jew hater who used his politics as an excuse for what he wanted to do anyway. Okay.
This is true. I used to work for the president of a multi-billion dollar corporation and told him that if he really wanted to make the company successful, he'd have every employee take Logic 101.
And notice how the post received 157 likes. There is apparently an entire tribe of retards following her.
"Like" buttons are magnets for morons.
I'm proud to be able to say I have never "liked" something on any social media platform.
That's funny, a friend of mine posted a question on facbook the other day basically asking both side of the gun control debate to help him understand their arguments. The pro 2A people posted lengthy, well reasoned positions. The anti 2A people mostly posted nonsense like "you only need and AR-15 for a zombie apocalypse and since zombies aren't real you shouldn't have an assault rifle." The anti side got tons of "likes" while the pro side got more nonsense in response.
The last couple days I've been commenting on a few memes that have no real argument. I post a well thought out argument, or pose some question about usefulness or consequences. I get lots of all caps or answers that ignore the entire argument I've made.
Being on Facebook was the first mistake.
People do weird shit when they are afraid. Transferrance is a good example. They know they feel afraid of something, but they don't want to admit that they are terrified of ISIS radicalizing citizens. Because then they would have to admit that they might be targets. So they say, "the thing that I am really afraid of is not the problem! This other thing that makes me a little nervous, but would never actually target me for death is the actual problem!" In hopes that ISIS or otherwise radicalized individuals will leave them alone. I think that's a terrible strategy. It's like fucking with your light-switch to address a burst pipe.
Reporter blames the NC Bathroom law for the Orlando attack
By the time Mateer drove all the way from NC to FL, in order to find a bathroom, he was really peeved?
Hacked DNC Opposition Research released.
Check it out. Still reviewing it but so far it looks like the real deal.
It does. But there doesn't appear to be anything new in there. Its mostly seems to be an outline of Democratic strategy and talking points.

That's what it seems like, yeah. I kinda expected more from the Evil party (or are they the Stupid party? I can never keep 'em straight). If this is their playbook, it leaves a little to be desired.
As noted below - at the time (12/15), Trump wasn't even expected to *do well* in the primaries, much less win.
And most of the "damaging stuff" seems to be things like this
Donald Trump: "26,000 Unreported Sexual Assults In The Military-Only 238
Convictions. What Did These Geniuses Expect When They Put Men & Women
Together?
And just examples of why his supporters like him. It seems to mostly be quotes like that and endless examples of him not being a Progressive.
Yeah, what john said.
Its basically useless since nothing Trump said any further back than last week is effectively 'ancient and irrelevant'.
it says more about the DNC than it does Trump, and then only the DNC of 2015, which probably wasn't even that concerned about the threat of Trump. I'd love to see their docs NOW. If this was the best ammunition they had, then they're fucked.
Especially if they double down on gun control.

Very true. I wonder if more than just the 12/15 doc got poached, and if anything else will be forthcoming.
Wasserman-Schultz's DNC was more occupied with putting together their oppo-file on Sanders back then?
Bill O'Reilly jumps on the gun control bandwagon.
Is that guy still around?
Winning!
I had lunch today with old friends, one of whom is among the most liberal people I know. We had a long talk about Obamacare and single payer, that he favored. But after about 10 minutes explaining how single payer makes the government a monopoly that you cannot petition or escape, and that the current Ocare gives me very few choices with very few options (ie deductible, coverage, etc) I convinced him that the free market would be best. He acknowledged that I changed his mind completely.
Out of the blue he added: "Now I'll be voting for Trump" I suggested he investigate Gary Johnson, but he indicated that he knew little about him (although he seemed to like lots of libertarian positions, particularly non-intervention). He lives in Houston, so his vote likely won't matter. But he might be just the kind of guy who can convince his wife and kids to abandon the donkeys.
I'll have a celebratory brew tonight - Leinenkugel's grapefruit shandy - they go down like water.
Very nice!
Swag for the chipper cult
What is the democrats play here for prioritizing Islam over gays? what is their angle? Seems to me like a hill to die on where they eventually consume their own. Breaks out popcord
Gays were a useful cudgel for beating their opponents with until gay marriage became a done deal. Now they're less useful politically?
Dems are bankrolled heavily by the Saudis?
Yeah the gays are useless to the Democrats now, and will reliably vote for them no matter what just like blacks.
A preference for winning the votes of the growing group with a global membership about 5 times the population of the entire US, rather than the group that is inherently, naturally, a permanent minority?
1st the LP convention, then the mass murder, now the baby-eating alligator?Orlando Furioso, indeedo!
You forgot the murder of Christina Grimmie they day before the mass murder... worst week ever for Orlando.
GOP proposes three day waiting period for gun purchases.
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/06.....-laws.html
3 days too long when someone is stalking you.
According to the article, it isn't an automatic delay. It would allow a prosecutor to delay a sale up to three days by showing probable cause that the buyer is a terrorist. Of course, if they can do that, presumably they can also have the person arrested, so...
I propose a three hour SWAT team waiting period.
So, remind me again why the Republicans are painted as these insane pro-gun extremists who won't ever pass any gun legislation whatsoever?
