That’s what he gets for putting Billie Jean King in charge of tax policy. You lose your business clones.

    1. UnCivilServant   9 years ago

Those guys look stoned out of their minds.

      Stoned Clones?

    2. Rich   9 years ago

Well, everyone knows the system is Rigged.

    3. Tom Bombadil   9 years ago

That’s not Billie Jean. That’s a forlorn Bill Gates wishing he was on the boat.

  2. invisible furry hand   9 years ago

Hey Bok, American business isn’t just white men, damn you. Although Zombie Obama is a pleasing touch

    1. Fist of Etiquette   9 years ago

Maybe Bok is saying whites are the cut-and-runners of the business community.

Anyway, who’s the bigger racist? The one who lazily redraws the same character as filler or the one who immediately notices everyone’s skin color?

      1. UnCivilServant   9 years ago

The person who assumes either is a racist.

        1. Fist of Etiquette   9 years ago

WRONG. The bigger racist is the one with the higher BMI.

          1. UnCivilServant   9 years ago

BMI is a terrible metric. I’ve read long screes to that effect on this very website.

            1. Fist of Etiquette   9 years ago

You’ve also read on this very website a libertarian case for Bernie Sanders. Don’t be anti-science.

              1. UnCivilServant   9 years ago

The difference is what you read were the articles.

                1. Swiss Servator   9 years ago

                  Articles? What articles?

      2. ScoobaSteve   9 years ago

        Irish?

    2. UnCivilServant   9 years ago

But you know the favored classes of people got boats that were less dangerously overloaded.

    3. Bee Tagger   9 years ago

      Fear the Taxing Dead

      1. Swiss Servator   9 years ago

        *prolonged applause*

  3. Bee Tagger   9 years ago

Lord John Marbury looks hungover. No surprise there.

  4. Will4Freedom   9 years ago

Hmm…. Am Soc always believed BHO could walk on water… Looks like he’s having a bit of trouble though. Maybe it just looks that way to non-progressives cuz we’re racist.

  5. straffinrun   9 years ago

The passengers look different from when those boats first left Vietnam.

    1. Swiss Servator   9 years ago

      Reverse Mariel Boatlift?

  6. Slammer   9 years ago

  7. Gweskoyen   9 years ago

“World’s highest biz tax”? Hm. I’m no tax expert, so I looked up what Wikipedia says:

Federal 15% to 35%. States: 0% to 10%, deductible in computing Federal taxable income. Some cities: up to 9%, deductible in computing Federal taxable income. The Federal Alternative Minimum Tax of 20% is imposed on regular taxable income with adjustments.

So it looks like the maximum corporate tax rate with 35% is indeed the highest, though not significantly higher than France’s 34.43% or Belgium’s 33%, but not every corporation has to pay the max rate.

    1. Drake   9 years ago

Federal rates can get as high as 39%. And, unlike no other first world country, the U.S. expects to collect it on domestic and foreign earnings. Makes us by far the most expensive and onerous tax environment in the world.

      1. Krabappel   9 years ago

Exactly — France takes its 35% and the French division of American corporation wants to send the profits back to the US and we want to take another 35% so instead the company says “fuck that” and just keeps the money in France. If the corporation HQ was in France, France would not demand their 35% of profits earned in the US because they use a territorial tax system.

THIS IS WHY OUR CORPORATIONS ARE LEAVING, NOT just because the rate is too high (although it is).

    2. R C Dean   9 years ago

Don’t forget that what matters is the net tax paid, not the gross rates.

For small businesses which are often pass-through entities, the owners pay taxes at individual rates, and the successful ones lose a lot of deductions with the AMT.

  8. Rebel Scum   9 years ago

            1. UnCivilServant   9 years ago

              Who or what was ‘sage’?

        3. Rich   9 years ago

OT: GDP To Gain Billions If Gender Pay Gap Addressed.

Quote: “The smaller figure assumes each U.S. state improves at the same rate as the most-improved state in the previous 10 years.”

I wanted to put this on Facebook, but none of my friends or family would ‘get it.’

    1. UnCivilServant   9 years ago

Two terrible abuses of statistics for the price of one – GDP and the ‘pay gap’. I’m not going to read the article, I’m not in the mood for whatever brand of stupid I might stumble onto.

    2. R C Dean   9 years ago

What a steaming pile of blithering idiocy.

Closing the pay gap means paying women more, and/or men less, for the same work. The same work = the same GDP. Shifting money between two piles doesn’t increase GDP at all.

    3. Pay up, Palin's Buttplug!   9 years ago

If we double everyone’s pay it’d increase GDP by? 0. Personal income isn’t counted in GDP.

If everyone in the US spent or invested 100 bucks more each year, it’d increase GDP by 100 * US population.

GDP = private consumption + gross investment + government spending + (exports – imports)

  11. Citizen X   9 years ago

What’s going on here? There should be more labels.

    1. Swiss Servator   9 years ago

      Forsooth!

  12. Almanian's Rusty Woodchipper   9 years ago

In a miracle for the ages, Mrs. Almanian has proposed a road trip through IL and TX to look at classic cars and buy one, YOLO, cause I’m gonna die from teh cancer. So….we went from, “we’re going to be poor cause you’re going on disability” to “fuck it – we’ve got the cash you earned from your bonuses and selling some other stuff – let’s buy a car, and we’ll be able to live on disability – we’ve been poor before.”

    Also,

*SLAP!* and “horrid, therefore perfect, etc. etc. etc. etc.”

  13. Rockabilly   9 years ago

Why there outta be a law against people moving away because they don’t want to pay taxes.

  14. Fmontyr   9 years ago

That’s just a plain stupid cartoon. Obama has not altered taxes on business during his terms.

    1. plusafdotcom   9 years ago

But O HAS argued that companies shouldn’t reincorporate ‘offshore’ to take advantage of lower taxes…
What hasn’t penetrated his consciousness is that Taxation Is A Competitive Market and His Country is in competition with other countries, and the number of countries moving out for tax purposes IS a reflection of the LACK of ‘competitiveness’ of His Own Country.
      Rocket surgery concept for Obama….
It’s just another ‘market’ and he can’t see that… just like Bernie and many others.
