Bernie Sanders Says Scott Walker's Ideology 'Kills People'
Sanders, who is a fan of communist regimes, accuses a center-right governor of being responsible for people dying because of his policy preferences.
Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.), who has expressed support for murderous communist regimes like those in Nicaragua and honeymooned in Moscow (correction: north of Moscow) in the 1980s, after the Soviet Union had already been responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of people in Russia as well as around the developing world, accused Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) of being responsible for people's death because of his "right-wing ideology," his decision to decline Medicaid expansion in his state and his support for some entitlement and spending reforms.
Sanders' father emigrated from Poland in 1921, at the tail end of the Polish-Soviet war, which was lost by the Soviets, who would invade Poland again in 1939 and impose murderous regimes there and across Central and Eastern Europe that lasted more than half a century.
Sanders is the "good guy" to the Donald Trump "bad guy" (who, like Sanders, is anti-trade, believes immigration laws are a plot by wealthy people to endanger American workers, and peddles myths about money in politics) in the mainstream liberal narrative. Clinton, who pushed U.S. intervention and military actions in Libya and elsewhere in the Muslim world, has so far escaped any serious discussion of her responsibility for people killed by the U.S. government when she was a member of the Obama cabinet.
This election is beyond parody.

But that wasn’t true communism…
People talk about being born during the wrong time? Yeah, I feel that: because it’s too late in the game to vote them out but it’s also too early to start shooting the bastards.
Just like true Libertarianism. It’s never been tried.
In the case of communism they gave it the good ole college try at least.
But unlike True Libertarianism, the closer you move towards True Communism, the higher the bodycount.
Never too early to start tuning up the Woodchipper.
… too early to start shooting the bastards.
Just hang in there.

Bernie you drama queen!
“Governor Walker has allowed his right-wing ideology to prevail and to deny some 120,000 people in Wisconsin options to get into Medicaid and maybe, for the first time in their lives have health insurance,” ……..”As a result of that decision, there is no question that people will die, people will become much sicker than they otherwise would have become.”
By that logic, everybody who failed to expand Medicaid going back to the Stone Age is responsible for people dying and you and I right now are responsible for people dying due to not having Medicaid expanded even further than it is now.
Convenient how that works, no?
Of course. Sanders is on the left. Trump is on the right. Therefore, they are necessarily exact opposites. This is the level at which many people actually reason.
We are, indeed, beyond parody. So what is next — farce?
Underground puppet shows
Okay, enough with the masturbation euphemisms.
+1 Riddley Walker
It will likely come to that once any of those assholes become POTUS and outlaw any form of protest against their regime. And their goddamn mind-numbed robotic followers will all chant “Government is Good!” while advocating those of us still rational be thrown in the gulag. Sanders and Trump are living expressions of Hanlon’s Razor (Never ascribe to Malice that which can be explained as Incompetence) and Grey’s Law (Any sufficient level of Incompetence is indistinguishable from Malice).
Auto de fei.
Tis a shame that cognitive dissonance isn’t painful for these folks
i dunno, it could be all that pain that keeps their brain from working properly.
Honestly, I think that’s true. I know quite a few people who are nice, smart, kind, friendly people who will go absolutely ballistic as soon as you even slightly disagree with them. I linked to an article in Reason that was critical of socialism, and one of my neighbors–someone I get along with, an intelligent, personable, genuinely good guy–and he went off about something to do with Trump sending people into forced labor. Because I linked to an article suggesting that socialism is not what you’d call an unqualified success. Apparently, the choices are socialism or slave labor under Donald Trump. And seriously, this is someone who in all other regards is an intelligent, thoughtful person. It’s like some kind of mental illness. Maybe more like an addiction.
A lot of people can’t get out of the binary thinking about politics. I think that contributes too.
I was talking to some people recently who seemed kind of confused when I told them that I didn’t support Sanders or Clinton and that I wasn’t a Republican and wouldn’t be supporting any of them either.
Yeah, I catch a lot of flack for “wasting my vote”, especially from Progs who seem to think that libertarian means Rand Paul and now defaults to Ted Cruz or Donald Trump. To which I now reply, “Yeah, I waste my vote. Unlike you, of course, who voted for Barack Obama twice so that you’d wind up with universal health care, withdrawal from the Middle East, and the closure of Gitmo, right? Those were votes well-spent.”
So, it’s slave labor or slave labor then. At least we’ve got that bit straightened out.
You just don’t get it! THEY are much worse!
Say what you like, he knows how to show a girl a good time
In Soviet Russia, Moscow honeymoons in you.
Women want to honeymoon in Moscow? Noted.
The kind of woman who would marry a useless Marxist like Sanders, yes.
Mooning would get you 15 days of arrest in Moscow. Not sure about honeymooning.
Well, Senator Venezuela has praised economic rationing and breadlines, not to mention the Sandanistas, so his perspective may be a bit… skewed.
+23 brands of deodorant that you don’t necessarily need when children are hungry in this country
The only hungry children is this country are children that are being deliberately neglected by their parents.
More likely they’re obese from their parents following FDA recommendations to pump them full of carbs, and they’re vainly trying to diet to take the weight off.
This can only be true if a.) there are children who can only eat deodorant, b.) there are 23 brands of deodorant made from baby food.
MAKE KIDS EAT DEODORANT PROBLEMS SOLVED!!!!
I say Bernie Sanders kills people, by having failed to run for and be elected governor of every single state simultaneously so he could expand all the Medicaid at once.
I give up. It is pointless to try and sway anyone. Everyone (not people here, people I meet) seems to have their minds made up as to who they are supporting and no matter what horseshit that candidate spews out they just gobble it up.
This is the worst slate of candidates in my lifetime and yet each has fanatical supporters. I don’t get it.
I guess one explanation is that with both slates so terrible, only the fanatics are left. Will be interesting to see number of voters in November, on both sides, compared to past elections.
They’ll be higher than the last several is my take.
Voting is rarely driven by how strongly one supports “their guy” — it has come down to how much they hate the other guy.
And boy oh boy do people hate the other guy in this election! There’s nothing but hatable swine running.
Regardless of where you stand, there are bad guys out there! Vote for my candidate or the wrong lizard will be in office! Ignore my candidate’s faults because the other candidate is so much worse!
Principled non-voting has never been easier. Nor more challenging.
^This. So much of this.^
(sigh)
I won’t argue with your scenario, but I think voting will be down despite the appeals to defeat the other side. We’ll know in seven months.
That may be the main dynamic this time. But I think that a lot of the reason for the large turnouts in recent presidential contests has been because people actually did like Obama (or the idea of Obama, anyway).
This is precisely why Trump is going to prepare a list of his preferred candidates to the US Supreme Court . They are essentially going to be running on the ballot with Trump against the inevitably horrible appointments that the Democrat would make. Given the fact that the US is ultimately ruled by the black-gowned Nazgul, this is a brilliant move to get both conservative and country-club Republicans to bother voting for Trump.
Given the fact that the US is ultimately ruled by the black-gowned Nazgul
:snicker:
That’s the single fucking BEST example of SCOTUS a-holes I’ve yet seen….
The Nationally Appointed Zoners of Government Utilization and Language.
The Federal Apparatchiks rule, with some tiny bit of oversight by the Nazgul and El Presidente.
The opposing parties could run anyone at this point and due to TEAM will have fanatics for each side. Are these people not embarrassed to be so used by the candidates?
This is why I avoid politics 99.9% of the time when interacting with people. It turns people I would otherwise enjoy being around into absolutely intolerable ignoramuses.
I find fewer and fewer people I enjoy being around as I get older. Generally envious, vindictive, vicious and selfish creatures. It doesnt take long after meeting someone for it to show through. I guess I am turning into a real misanthrope.
Catching the season finale of The Walking Dead last night didn’t help.
Haven’t had a chance to watch it so don’t give anything away! One thing about that show is, these guys have been now in this world for years and they still have no system (or procedures) for people going outside of the gates. Everyone still acts like you can just go for a drive when they know there are groups of thugs just waiting to take everything they have.
I haven’t watched since Shane died. He was the only character I identified with.
#imaybeasociopath
The show has gotten to the point now that the zombies have become just window dressing with other gangs of humans becoming the real danger in the world.
*glances over the morning’s news headlines*
Yeah, it takes a huge suspension of belief to buy that.
It’s always been that way – the titular “walking dead” aren’t the zombies.
Yeah, the show has become more realistic in that regard. From the beginning, the feeling I always had was that at least the zombies are slow, weak, and dumb. Humans, on the other hand, are relatively intelligent, plotting, and conniving. Other humans were always the biggest threat.
William Munny’s better.
I guess I am turning into a real misanthrope.
…..Dad?
I find fewer and fewer people I enjoy being around as I get older.
Ages 10+
I guess I am turning into a real misanthrope.
“It’s called being a cynical asshole.”
Welcome to the club. Unfortunately we don’t have any cool swag to hand out because what’s the point? Everything sucks anyway.
I wanted one of the regulars to say to Negan “I think I understand. You’re the IRS.”
#NeganIsTheIRS
My social-media feed looks more every day like groups of cultists arguing over whose cult possesses the most truly true truth.
It really reminds me of the Ron Paul days actually.. except now the cultists are cheering on a socialist.
^This. All the while spittle flecked, wild-eyed babbling over space ships, magical incantations, saviors, lizard people and reincarnation.
A year ago I had high hopes for Rand Paul to get out there, talk logic, and win big. Now I’m just bracing for the shitstorm.
You must be a lot younger than I am.
Same here,Trump,Hillary, and Sanders could eat puppies on TV and it wouldn’t bother them.
Hey, let’s be fair here. What’s wrong with eating puppies?
To Obama, nothing. To me, nothing.
To most American – abomination!
Yep, pretty much. You can’t really have an honest discussion with a lot of these folks because they don’t believe things based on principles or even coherent strategies. It’s pretty much signalling, tribalism, and personal preference, and if you manifest anything else (or, god forbid, disagree) you poke their cognitive dissonance and they go apeshit. It’s like trying to take meth away from a junkie through persuasion and reasoning; they’ll be right with you until you suggest handing over their shit, at which point they’ll come at you like a rabid baboon.
Bottom line, we’re fucked this go-round, as with most. I’m going to vote for Gary Johnson (if I even bother), stock up on ammo, and hope the collective withdrawal symptoms once everything goes to shit aren’t too catastrophic.
Nixon – McGovern was pretty bad in 1972. However, at least Nixon understood the world as it was, which is much better than a proudly ignorant buffoon. Even though he was pinkish, McGovern was a patriotic American, and was infinitely better than a self-obsessed, power-mad harpy war-monger or a Brooklyn Bolshevik.
I can’t wait until this clown retires.
Bernie is a cartoon.
http://www.newyorker.com/carto…..rs-muppets
None of those cartoons are remotely funny.
The New Yorker sucks.
Well, yeah, if anyone would know about ideologies killing people, it would be a demented old communist.
So if medicaid “saves” people…why does he want medicare for all?
So if medicaid “saves” people…why does he want medicare for all?
This is too rich even by Grandpa Gulag Bernie’s standards.
NO, NO! The communists and socialists of yesteryear who killed all those people were really conservative right-wing tea partying slave owners!
/Prog professor of new history.
Sure, the communists killed a shit ton of people but they meant well.
They were all secretly right wing Trump supporters masquerading as our Communist BurnBro’s.
*looks around*
They were killing the right kind of people…
/honest socialist
They mean well even when they shoot you in the back of the head and push you into a mass grave.
These were, in fact, idealists who would stop at nothing to achieve their dream.
They understood that, in order accomplish their utopian vision, they had to construct a new Soviet Man who would be committed to ideals of socialism. Those classes of people who would naturally resist in this dialectical struggle had to be extirpated absolutely.
The fact that the executioners were inspired by venal envy and full of hatred when they tortured and murdered their victims does not diminish their idealism. As Lenin said, “We must hate – hatred is the basis of communism.”
But there is still lots to cheer about Berie’s rise. Just ask Matt Wellch. And the bread lines will be a great diet program. Yes Bernie loves bread lines and mass starvation.
http://thelibertarianrepublic……rationing/
Fat people look terrible in Maoist coveralls.
So that’s why Michael Moore lost weight
Bernie wants to take Michelle Obama’s war on obesity to the next level.
But there is still lots to cheer about Berie’s rise.
It makes things slightly more interesting, at least.
In Soviet Russia bread so good people line up for hours to get it
That was a good video
Foreign language alt text? I literally can’t rite now u guys.
Even if you can’t, you would.
And yet they won’t let us use Cyrillic in the comments? Nu shto ti’, Reason?
“Old and stupid” in Polish
That, minus ‘hard L’.
So when obama and the dems didn’t pass UHC….they allowed people to die?
When Clinton and the Dems didn’t pass Hillarycare I think is what Bernie is throwing out there.
Yet it is all Scott Walker’s fault!
Ochin’ stariy, ih ochin’ glupiy. PLOKHO.
I’ll be impressed when they don’t allow someone to die.
Commenter: This is rich coming from the guy who is chairman of the VA committee which is plagued by long wait times.
Prog: the GOP blocked added benefits
So i think to myself how does “added benefits” resolve the wait time issue?
Hush, you’re disrupting the narrative!
I am not even sure the GOP blocked “added benefits” whatever that means.
They didn’t allow for more spending. It’s the same as taking money away. Everyone knows this.
If the services in the “added benefits” are faster and//or cheaper to provide, expect them to be used as low hanging fruit to improve stats while the life or death stuff continues to take longer than the patients have got.
To be fair, Scott Walker’s ideology does kill people. They all do.
Projection: it’s not just for movie theaters anymore.
For fuck’s sake, what a retard.
According to a prog inc comments we had “democratic socialism” from 1930 to 1980. Then i am not sure what happened.
Medicare and social security are still here. Single-payer, free college, free daycare and free everything else have not been.
What are they talking about?
What are they talking about?
Reagan = Satan? Who the fuck knows. They don’t even know what they’re saying 99.99999999% of the time. It’s all just stream of consciousness emoting with these assclowns.
I don’t know. Maybe democratic socialism requires almost constant war, pointless symbolic taxes and high inflation.
Look, all he really meant is that Scott Walker isn’t killing the populace for the right reasons people! There’s nothing wrong with killing the people you serve, you just need to have the proper reasons for the “expatriation”.
his decision to decline Medicaid expansion in his state and his support for some entitlement and spending reforms.
So obviously Bernie is going to sympathetic to libertarianism, right?
Hmm, Bernie doesn’t think that opposition that wants to “kill people” should be allowed to exist…So does he think Scott Walker should be imprisoned? And presumably Welch too…
hahahahaha
Anyone else see this?
Most of the Progressive sites have had to disable comments to control the narrative.
Trust Reason to find an alternative where the power to control the narrative is sold to the highest bidder. I love the neologism “winning comments” for “comments with the most money backing them”.
…peddles myths about money in politics…
Clearly being on the “campaign finance reform” bandwagon is peddling a myth. But not the myth that politics has been corrupted by money. It’s only peddling the myth that the corruption can be fixed by campaign finance reform.
I don’t think it’s radical at all to claim that much of our political class works hand-in-hand with the donor class and that they both enrich each other. But campaign finance reform is essentially, always, an exercise in letting the foxes define hen house access protocols.
The way to end the corrupting influence of money in politics is to end the corrupting influence of politics on money — give politicians less control over businesses and the economy and the rich have less incentive to invest in controlling the political process.
Of course, nobody currently invested in the status quo wants to see that happen.
Voters have the tools to make that happen. But they have no track record of using those tools wisely.
Oh well. As John Derbyshire said, “We are doomed.”
Ed, this is truly the most witless piece I’ve read on Reason in the two years or so I’ve been getting it. One reason this election is “beyond parody” is the outlandish horseshit uttered by some of the candidates. This bit a screed you’ve crafted fits right in. It manages to be both awful and pointless. Couple more like this and I won’t be wasting any time clicking links with your name attached to them.
