Is an elected official trying to warn me that if I eat too much I might get fat?
I must warn everyone I know of this amazing heretofore unknown information. I shall ride upon my trusty steed and declare that "The carbs are coming, the carbs are coming."
"Emergency! Everybody to get from sweets!"
No,she's trying to show you how important she is and bring knowledge to the ignorant masses.
The tough, gritty, blue NYC of the 21st century: where people can't even go out to eat without being told how to do it.
I'd LOVE to see the Venn diagram that shows the hip New Yorkers claiming they miss the edgy atmosphere of danger and lewdness of the old Times Square -- yet who are also in favor of this law.
42nd street is gone. Caput!
I'm sure that those people actually want a theme-park version of the old Times Square.
(has idea for business)
*inquires if he will be able to invest in Dr. W's theme park*
Implied in this is that it's perfectly fine to scare folks with misleading information about things that may not be perfectly safe or part of whatever the fuck a balanced lifestyle is. God, do we need more people like that baseball dude profiled yesterday, who say unequivocally "It's my life , Fuck off!"
Why doesn't someone pre-emptively follow the letter of the law, with something like
Councilwoman INEZ BARRON
thinks you need to be told eating too much sugar can lead to diabetes, which
IS REALLY STUPID.
[repeats in mandated 12 different languages]
How about requiring warnings be tattooed to New York politicians' foreheads explaining the risks of excessive nannying.
You know who else, hell, you know the rest.
...had a forehead?
Fantasy Island?
Tattooed your mother?...
Herv? Villechaize had a fling with his Mom?!
Knowing NY, The tattoo artist will require a a $20,000 degree from an Art school, just to tattoo "Poor Impulse Control" on someone's forehead. Snow Crash isn't meant to be a how to guide.
could we start a petition to keep her out of any and all restaurants?
not to mention the state issued license, registration, proof of insurance, bond, letter of credit, proof of membership in TIAOTA seal of sanitation of all equipment etc. etc. etc.

I think you're looking at the wrong end of the deal - why is it we allow legislators to conduct their business without any certification by the state that they're competent to legislate? I say we get a ballot initiative together that requires legislators to go through a couple years of training (at considerable expense to themselves, natch) plus annual 12-week continuing ed course, be licensed and bonded and insured and permitted (whopping fees on all those), excise taxes charged on legislation and consuting and lobbying and speechifying and whatnot, required to pass tests on background knowledge of any subject matter they're legislating on, etc. - plus make all this only good for whatever specific office they're holding, running for a different office reuires going through the whole thing over again. And then on top of all that - make the bastards get that seal of sanitation by subjecting them to the most invasive medical, financial, psychological and morals exams imaginable to certify they ain't got anything nasty the constituency might get on 'em if they get too close. And of course, the required posters on the office walls warning people of the dangers of being or interacting with dicks.
+1
And with it will go a million "where did I get this 'your momma' tattoo"?
What I'd like to see. You have to sign a 22 page waiver before you can eat at a restaurant. The waivers will have to be kept on file for the life of the customer. In case he should ever get fat.
Just like I did to go rafting on the Upper Gauley River.
"Americans, let's face it: We've been a spoiled country for a long time. Do you know what the number one health risk in America is? Obesity. They say we're in the middle of an obesity epidemic. An epidemic like it is polio. Like we'll be telling our grand kids about it one day.
The Great Obesity Epidemic of 2004.
"How'd you get through it grandpa?"
"Oh, it was horrible Johnny, there was cheesecake and pork chops everywhere."
Nobody knows why were getting fatter? Look at our lifestyle. I'll sit at a drive thru. I'll sit there behind fifteen other cars instead of getting up to make the eight foot walk to the totally empty counter. Everything is mega meal, super sized. Want biggie fries, super sized, want to go large. You want to have thirty burgers for a nickel you fat mother fucker. There's room in the back. Take it! Want a 55 gallon drum of Coke with that? It's only three more cents."
Here I thought heart and stroke was by far the number 1 silent killer of them all!
Needz moar labelz! Damn, wrong room again.
Well,it's about signs,your close.
Posters in the freakin DINING ROOMS?! Can't you just imagine some future movie with Robert DeNiro as a hitman sitting in a dark Italian restaurant, waiting for the victim.....portentous music in the background......the camera zooms in for a close up, and then, over his shoulder in the background, there's a poster: THE GOVERNMENT HAS DETERMINED THAT EATING FOODS HIGH IN SUGAR, SUCH AS CANNOLI, MAY RESULT IN SUCH AILMENTS AS OBESITY AND DIABETES. EAT RESPONSIBLY.
Why not just put up 'Don't kill' posters up everywhere starting in Chicago?
"Take the gun. Leave the cannolis"
OT: It's early, but I think I've already found my favorite headline of the day on Fox News (NOT the Onion):
"North Korea fires missiles into sea in response to sanctions"
'No dolphins were injured in this video.'
yeah but they were aiming for the mountains....
They. Never. STOP.

Because, fuck the first Amendment!
OT - comment on the Trump campaign manifesto, Crippled America: How to Make America Great Again.
He truly has an awesome resume. He's a successful businessman, like Mitt Romney and Michael Bloomberg.
So what makes him more awesome than Romney and Bloomberg?
He devotes a few sentences to Romney - Romney destroyed jobs whereas Trump created them. (I *think* Trump is dissing Romney here, though he doesn't name names)
Of course, Romney says *Trump* destroyed jobs, and he (Romney) would defend his business practices by saying he made the businesses he took over more efficient, so at the cost of short-term pain he made businesses viable in the long term, etc.
And Trump talks about supporting the Second Amendment, which Bloomberg probably wouldn't do.
But basically, Trump trumpets his yuge success in business as making him qualified for the Presidency, while he clearly doesn't want the same reasoning applied to other, non-Trump, businessman/politicians.
here
Why did the link send me to Amazon?
And...Trump isn't a better businessman than those two. Not even close.
The first link was a trial run, my second link is what seals the deal.
In fact, focusing on my first, unsuccessful link instead of my second, successful one is an example of the bias I have to deal with all the time.
/sarc
Amazon. Is there anything it can't do?
It can even make America great again!

If her nannying had merit, the ordinance should mandate that the posters should be put up in every home, complete with the appropriate monthly jackbooted inspections. I mean, doesn't she care about people who don't eat in restaurants? Also, education camps.
There's a surprising amount of non-derp on the comments. I especially liked this one:
Obesity is a consequence of affluence. We have too much disposable income to spend on food. What's needed, to get at the root of this epidemic, is affluence control.
All Hail Bernie Sanders!
That and national food care. Why should capitalists be allowed to make a buck by making us fat?
Don't laugh. I can just see people getting tax credits a-la Tesla to buy healthy food.
Fucken retards.
How about signs that say "Eating no food may put diners at disk for starvation"?
How bout requiring a sign in NYC council chambers that reminds them excessive pestering results in people not listening?
nice post thanks admin
