Left-wing Protesters Brought Mob Violence to UC-Berkeley Event Featuring Metallica Drummer
Lars Ulrich and Marc Benioff battled angry-and violent-protesters.

Liberal students attempted to shut down an event at the University of California-Berkeley earlier this month by resorting to one of the worst kinds of censorship tactics: mob violence.
The event featured a discussion between notable people, including Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich. Ulrich's elderly father participated in the forum, as did wealthy entrepreneur Marc Benioff.
Members of the Student Labor Committee, the group that crashed the event, didn't object to these specific speakers. Rather, they have urged a boycott of all speakers until the administration agrees to their demands, which concern the allegedly subpar conditions endured by contract workers on campus.
Ulrich, who hosted the event, went so far as to allow a protester to speak at the beginning of the event. This was not sufficient for the aggrieved. Eventually protesters stormed the stage and even assaulted Benioff. The police were forced to intervene.
In an op-ed for The Daily Californian, shocked members of the UC community described the spectacle as "violence dressed up as protest." According to the op-ed:
This disruption, however, emblemized neither. More than just an attempt to exercise the heckler's veto, this was a planned, violent, bullying act, with the express purpose of destroying a core activity of the campus.
All groups at UC Berkeley have the right to free expression, but none have the right to prevent others from doing likewise, least of all by using violence. The disruption last week was not an example of protest, it was not the exercise of free speech.
The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education's Nico Perrino put it this way:
Nobody has a First Amendment right to engage in mob censorship to shut down a speaker. Assault in any context is a crime—not the kind of expressive conduct the First Amendment protects.
The behavior of the protesters was shameful, censorious, and even dangerous. If would-be visitors to campus—including interesting figures like Ulrich and Benioff—fear for their safety, they will decline invitations to speak. Such an outcome would deprive students of one of the main benefits of attending university in the first place.

How are these people not just simply kicked of campus with a simple "GTFO"???
Overreact much? It's not like they had drunken hook-up sex or anything like that.
They need more mattresses.
Because this didn't happen all at once. Kegiving them an inch, and they will eventually take a mile. Failure to nip this shit in the bud will only lead to further escalation.
Kegiving = Keep giving
I just assumed it was a yiddish phrase I had never seen before.
I thought it was a fun new portmanteau of "giving" and "Kegels."
Once again, I have larned something new at Reason; God I love this place!
I thought it was a new holiday celebrating beer?!
That's every holiday
Well, that'll larn ye!
Because it's UC-Berkley, and that sort of behavior is fetishized there, not punished?
Nice. Is this where pent-up rage starts boiling over? That's my favorite part.
Why didn't they just form a pit?
Sign of the times and things to come. If Hitlery or Comrade Bernie win in November, the Trump Brown Shirts will go apeshit. If The Donald (or probably anyone with an R) wins, the Leftists will lose their shit and burn it all down. Of course, it will be telling if at about that time the US economy implodes again as its set to do....
A couple questions:
In the face of such disruption what matters besides free speech?
And when will campus leftists come to their senses?
Well,beer and scotch matter,but being cereal,never,they'er hopeless.
#beerandscotchmatter, I like the sound of that.
Standard libertarian disclaimer applies, but regardless, i wouldn't mind seeing Lars Ulrich get punched in the mouth.
Still upset about Napster?
Probably more that Metallica sucks, especially since they kicked out Mustaine.
I like their first four albums. Especially the first one (on which Dave wrote most of the songs).
The far superior music of Megadeth to Metallica tells you all you need to know about what happened when they fired Dave. I mean, Dave *was* a drunk asshole, so I get it, but...Metallica sucks, and firing him didn't help them any.
The far superior music of Megadeth to Metallica
Ok.
Episiarch is right. Megadeath has a ton more musicality to it than Metallica. Metallica is just thumping. Megadeath had some swing and some melody to it. In a just world Megadeath would have been the bigger of the two.
And regardless of what you think of the music, Megadeath has a sense of humor. And that is infinitely superior to the tiresome earnestness of Metallica.
NERDS
"Episiarch is right. Megadeath has a ton more musicality to it than Metallica. Metallica is just thumping. Megadeath had some swing and some melody to it. In a just world Megadeath would have been the bigger of the two."
This is accurate.
Yes, Metallica is the most over rated band in history. And the lead singer sounds like Elmer Fudd.
Peace sells...
Except for the spelling.
You would think that somebody pronouncing the superiority of Megadeth would be able to spell it correctly. (BTW, I agree with you on the music. Metallica's style changed, and got a lot simpler, once they ran out of Budgie and Diamond Head riffs to recycle.)
I would agree - if I could stand Mustaine's voice. He should have kept looking for a singer.
...
As someone who owns and likes every Metallica album up to the Black Album, and only gave up on Megadeth after Rust in Peace (which was not bad overall), I have to ask myself what the hell are you smoking?
Megadeth averages one or two good songs per album.
Metallica sucks now, but in their heyday they had entire albums worth listening to.
They kicked him out because they were all whinny nerds and Mustaine generally abused and beat the shit out of him. They wanted to kick him out before they did but were too afraid of him to do it. The whole story is just high comedy.
YES!!!! Got named in the suit and haven't forgiven the band. I had owned every album at least once (from vinyl, tape, to CD), went to concerts, bought merchandise, etc., and then got gigged when I started using Napster and it advertised all the music I had collected on my hard drive for P2P. So I swore off ever giving them another penny and have not welched to this day. Vindictive consumer alert!
Groupie alert.

I don't mind Benioff getting a smack or two, either.
Yup. Metallica does suck, and it's mostly Lars' fault.
shocked members of the UC community described the spectacle as "violence dressed up as protest."
Oh, if you're shocked by this little ap?ritif you might want to find yourself another planet to inhabit for the next 8 months or so, the real violence dressed up as protest is still in the back getting warmed up.
These people are now expelled right? Or would that be considered triggering or chilling towards future "protesters"
Lemme know when they evict the students who participated in, and who organized, this "protest". Unless and until they do that, their squawking about how awful it is means nothing.
The students are liberals. That means they believe in tolerance, inclusiveness, and equality. Their motives and intentions are pure. So I doubt anything else will happen.
Had they been non-liberals (who by definition have bad intentions), you can bet they'd be kicked out faster than a fart dissipates in the wind.
Principals, not principles.
"The students are liberals."
The students are Americans. Violence is the language they best understand.
As opposed to any other nationality?
Extreme tediousness is mtrueman's forte.
"As opposed to any other nationality?"
Just like every other nationality. Does that make you feel better?
Thanks for admitting you have no point.
"If you can't convince a fascist, acquaint his head with the pavement" - Leon Trotsky.
That's was a masterpiece of unintentional irony. Thank you.
Except the French.
They understand talking. Which they will do at great length. Whether you want them to or not.
At least, in between manning UN rape camps.
Your hero Mao wouldn't know anything about that, of course.
"Your hero Mao wouldn't know anything about that, of course."
Don't sell Mao short. He knew that political power grew from the barrel of a gun. Being an American doesn't change that.
Yes, Mao did know that. I was being sarcastic. ALL political power is based on violence or the threat of violence, it's true. Mao was being unusually honest about that fact, which does nothing to mitigate the tens of millions of human deaths directly attributable to his exercises of power.
"Mao was being unusually honest about that fact"
If only we could all be as honest about political power and challenges to it.
Some of us are. Others, not so much.
The difference between you and us, is that we're trying to change that, and you aren't.
"that we're trying to change that"
Tell that to the well armed cops who wrestled the hecklers to the floor.
What language did Stalin speak?
"What language did Stalin speak?"
On the question of language, Stalin was fairly open. He funded the first Korean language newspaper in Russian history. Under Stalin literacy rates skyrocketed, even for languages like Tajik and Uzbek. He was a lot more considerate to the languages themselves than the poor souls who spoke them.
They are anything but liberals.
But I guess that battle is lost and the word means nothing.
The current popular meaning of "liberal" actually describes someone whose conception of human nature is not just illiberal, but pre-liberal. The Hobbesian social contract is so hot right now.
I thought they got course credit for stuff like this now.
Q) How many college athletes does it take to change a light bulb?
A) One. And he gets three credits for it too!
Q) How many college students does it take to change a light bulb?
A) How dare someone be marginalized into such labor?
Q) How many college students does it take to change a light bulb?
A) We reject your racist assumption from a place of white privilege that light is better than dark.
You never heard of a black light? Quite popular on college campuses, actually.
*Ahem* I think you mean "African-American light".
That's me.
I larfed.
A) How dare someone be marginalized into enacting your labor for you?
Get with the times already.
Q) How many college students does it take to change a light bulb?
A) As many as it takes at the consciousness-raising session to educate the privileged light bulb that it is incumbent upon it to change itself.
What do you mean? Incandescent or CFL light bulb?
/King of the Britons
LED! LED!
If would-be visitors to campus?including interesting figures like Ulrich and Benioff?fear for their safety, they will decline invitations to speak.
That's the plan! Speakers violate safe spaces! What, you think kids are going to university to learn? What a horrible cis-hetero patriarchal uber-capitalist exploiter idea!
You gotta fit "shitlord" into that somewhere. Just has such a nice ring to it...
How hard is it to understand that when these protestors say they want a "right to be heard" it means "shut up"? They're not interested in equal time or hearing what you have to say, no back-and-forth, no arguments, they just want you to shut up and go away.
Ulrich, who hosted the event, went so far as to allow a protester to speak at the beginning of the event. This was not sufficient for the aggrieved. Eventually protesters stormed the stage and even assaulted Benioff. The police were forced to intervene.
So suddenly protesters are not allowed to match aggressive violence in kind? When confronted with something they don't want, the protesters are supposed to dive for one of their officially designated safe spaces? I SAY NO.
Exactly. Benioff's words and personal beliefs constitute violence and put the students' safety at risk. They are just responding in kind.
*Am I progging correctly? I'm still new to this.
Seek and destroy I say.
Could let the Metal Militia handle it.
I think it will be amusing to see what happens when one of these speakers has the awful temerity to defend himself.
Incitement!
Depends on the timing. If Lars were to seek out one of the protestors now, say, and, for instance, punch him in the face, it would not qualify as self defense. If it was done in the moment, it might be more of a gray area.
What could be gray about it? The line between self defense and vigilante justice is pretty clear (to anyone who isn't a liberal).
Done in the moment? Not even close to not being self-defense. IF the other guy swings first, you are weapons-free to clock him with force sufficient to end the threat to yourself or others. Naturally, if its some sunken chested proggy, you probably shouldn't use a weapon, as a punch will suffice.
But absolutely. Somebody assaults someone in your presence, you are allowed to defend yourself and others with some restrictions on the proportionality of your response to the threat posed.
As a lawyer you should also be aware that as Ulrich has money, he ends up writing a big settlement check if he so much as lays a hand on anyone, self defense be damned.
I was referring purely to legal self-defense at the moment of being assaulted.
Are you saying he should Seek and Destroy?
Depends on the timing. If Lars were to seek out one of the protestors now, say, and, for instance, punch him in the face, it would not qualify as self defense. If it was done in the moment, it might be more of a gray area.
Use the axe!
Yeah. Take a baseball on stage, and lean it against the podium. Anyone who takes a swing at somebody on stage, gets the bat. Bet you wouldn't have to use it twice.
How do you keep it from rolling away?
The nail driven through it stops it from rolling.
Let's be honest: Lars Ulrich could have beaten the shit out of every one of those protesters and it's kind of a shame he didn't.
Ulrich, who hosted the event, went so far as to allow a protester to speak at the beginning of the event. This was not sufficient for the aggrieved.
FYI, it never is. Just keep that in mind.
Exactly, Paul. Part of the thrill of demanding shit is not just getting it, but getting someone to knuckle under and cower before you. Never, ever forget that that is part and parcel of this whole "movement". And that is why it is never enough. Because they never want you to stop cowering.
It won't prevent the proggies from doing what they do, but it sets you up to look a lot better, and them a lot worse, when they do what they do and consequences ensue.
Once you pay the Danegeld...
Bingo
Appeasement appeases people. It's right there in the name.
Weren't a bunch of people saying there IS such a 'right' last week?
That was directed against Trump, so it's totally different.
Well, there is a right to do whatever you want right up to the point where you are assaulting someone or trespassing. This seems to cross that line. The protesters at the Trump thing are giant assholes, but most were well within their rights. The ones who rush up on stage and grab the mic, not so much.
Anyone who is surprised by this is either delusional or not paying attention. When you have "reverse bullying"--in other words, being socially able to socially attack others for perceived slights--it will, obviously, escalate to violence soon enough. Because some people will just follow things to their logical conclusion. I mean, if you have a "right" to not be offended, then it is a small leap to "defending" your right by physically assaulting someone who offends you. If it's your right, and they won't stop, then it is within your rights to stop them however you need to.
The great thing about this stupidity is that it is self-immolating, so I look forward to much more of this and the resulting counterviolence.
I look forward to much more of this and the resulting counterviolence.
I bet your droogs do as well.
A little bit of the old ultracounterviolence?
Like your penis?
Spontaneous cumbustion?
For an extra $5
Crybullies...
"reverse bullying"? This is just plain bullying.
I agree with the self-immolating nature of absurdity, inevitably trending toward a logical extreme. Given that this is largely confined to certain college campuses, the damage is contained, and just look at the great entertainment it provides to those present [myself included].
Just not sure if Kafka is proud or rolling in his grave.
Out of curiosity =
Are any of the contract laborers who the students are ostensibly agitating on behalf of actually ASKED what they think?
It might be interesting to ask these student groups for interviews sometime.... and see to what degree they really have the best-interests of the "oppressed" in mind, or whether they simply use 'other people's oppression' as a flag to wrap around themselves and use as a weapon against others.
The oppressed contract laborers are victims of their own false consciousness or something.
+1 Plato's Cave
Or the protestors could go out and raise money to donate to the contractors. Or share their own.
It's easier and more fun to forcibly take it from you
Or volunteer to do the work themselves.
Then they can see how labor unions react when they are marginalized.
it's like they never heard of tipping.
The contract workers get to clean up after the violence that was meted out on their behalf.
About 10 years ago when protesters at Berkeley were shutting down a talk by some conservative speaker, the news interviewed some protester who came from Mills College. Her comment was something like "It's a shame that at the home of the free speech movement someone like *that* was invited to speak". She summed up their attitude perfectly.
It was Ariel Sharon, IIRC (I was a student there at the time).
Was this before or after his stroke?
And yeah, I remember that quote, as well...
""It's a shame that at the home of the free speech movement someone like *that* was invited to speak""
Berkeley is the home of the free speech movement? I didn't know Voltaire, Thomas Paine, and Thomas Jefferson attended Berkeley.
Well, they certainly like to think so.
George Mason and James Madison are also among their distinguished alumns
Jefferson had slaves, so, mumble mumble garble
Berkeley is where the left co-opted the idea of free speech as a way to get morons to support their program of intimidation and silencing of those who think and speak in ways that do not further the revolution.
The free speech - on college campuses - movement.
Benioff has done far far more for far far more people than all of those protestors combined will ever do in their entire lives. http://www.bizjournals.com/san.....more.html. (I'm not saying Salesforce, his source of wealth, otherwise sucks, of course.)
I don't mean to be pedantic, however can we please stop referring to these people as "liberal"? Libertarians are liberal, and a dwindling few on the left can still claim this description... sometimes. The far left, which these morons represent, are Authoritarians, Communists, grievers, and thugs. Words matter. Call them what they are.
I tend to go with "idiots," but "children" also works.
That ship sailed decades ago. They won.
Yeah, they stole liberal after they ruined progressive. Hopefully they make the full transition back. Not that progressive describes them any better but we probably can't talk them into going with shit for brains authoritarian assholes.
#RegressiveLeft seems to be gaining traction.
Yeah. There are left-liberals, but these aren't them.
I blame Trump for creating an atmosphere of violence in America / Reason Staff
The Trump made me do it!
Trumpenfreude n. gleeful violence at any large gathering, esp. a political one.
For 16 years now everything wrong has been blamed on Bush. Now we can blame Trump. Bush should send the Donald a thank you note.
Imagine if he actually gets elected.
Here is my theory on what would happen. Trump would grow into the job and end up being at worst and ordinary bad President and perhaps half way competent one and will almost certainly represent an improvement over Bush and Obama. And it is this possibility that terrifies the political class the most.
What scares them is not that he would be a disaster as President. The country has survived worse and his being a disaster would give the ruling class an enormous I told you so to the rest of the country. And God knows they would love that and consider whatever damage Trump did to the country a small price or really no price to pay to get it. What scares them is the idea that a real estate hustler and reality TV star could come in and take "the world's toughest job" and do no worse or maybe even better than the members of their class have been doing for the last 30 years. If that happened people would finally understand how little these people actually know and how affirmatively incompetent they are.
Yeah, that prick who would use government he bought off to bulldoze someone's home to put up a casino isn't part of the ruling class. No way
Yeah, that prick who would use government he bought off to bulldoze someone's home to put up a casino isn't part of the ruling class. No way
No. He is a real estate hustler who bought influence with the ruling class. He is absolutely not one of them. If he were, they wouldn't be shitting their pants right now.
If you have gotten the impression that the Donald J Trump campaign is all about ending crony capitalism and limiting power in DC you've bought something nobody is offering for sale
Every once in a while it's okay to get rid of one set of cronies for a new set.
I fear at this point all that can be done anyway is deck chair rearranging.
Not sure why we should expect a new set. The Donald gets along great with everyone, after all. Ready for cronies on steroids?
If you have gotten the impression that the Donald J Trump campaign is all about ending crony capitalism and limiting power in DC you've bought something nobody is offering for sale
I have no idea what it would mean. I don't know Donald Trump. I do, know however that the cronies are all shiting their pants at the thought of him being President. Sorry, but that is not out of some deep concern for the country.
So you tell me, if Donald Trump is just another crony capitalist, why haven't the cronies embraced him? It is not like they care about the country or anything beyond how best to loot the government. It sure seems to me that if he were what you say he is, the cronies would not be unhappy about his success.
For example...
Trump is an admitted crony capitalist. He doesn't apologize, he says it's how the game is played. Are you denying that? Has he mentioned a word about doing anything to change that?
I've named one admitted crony capitalist that isn't against Trump. Trump
Camping,
Whenever I read some pants shitting post about the evils of Trump, they are always short on details and never explain how he is any different than what we have now. So he took advantage of Eminent Domain. So do a lot of people. That doesn't mean he believes in it. Maybe he does. But you drive on roads and would take social security wouldn't you? Does that mean you agree with those things or does it mean you are acting in your rational self interest and understand your not partaking of them won't cause them not to exist?
What exactly makes him a "crony capitalist" and more importantly one that is so bad and worse than what we have now the possibility of his election warrants any kind of concern? It seems to me kicking out the cronies for new ones, while not ideal, is still preferable to letting the old ones stay forever.
Because the current crop of cronies are simply afraid of being kicked out in favor of a new crop of them picked by Trump.
It's not like they think Trump is going to get rid of cronyism in general. He is part of the cronyism in general and has been for a long time.
It's not like they think Trump is going to get rid of cronyism in general. He is part of the cronyism in general and has been for a long time.
Then why are they not just buying in like they have with every other candidate? If Trump is the worst crony capitalist ever, you would think they would want to get in on the action rather than try and stop him.
Nothing you guys are saying is consistent with what is actually happening. Sorry, but you will have a hard time convincing me that a candidate whom all of the cronies hate and are willing to do anything to stop is some kind of crony capitalist such that I should worry about his election.
He has been embraced by cronies. Chris Christie. FL governor. Carson - endorsed him for purely transactional reasons. That's cronyism.
He supposedly has rich guy supporters as well.
You see them less because 2 billion in free advertising means you don't need backers.
The main reason you do not see a ton of embracing of Trump is simple:
1) You have no idea what you're embracing. Hug him now, and tomorrow he says the Illuminati are the real enemy or refuses to disavow the KKK.
2) They don't think he can win. Why embrace a guy who'll go down 60-40? In fact, they may have to dump Trump for their own re-election bids.
I used to be Trump-curious, and maybe could vote for him, but I don't think he'll win and I also don't think he'll do anything but be a new cronyist.
I would predict the Brett Favre effect. If you recall ESPN's 24/7 365 coverage of when is Brett going to make up his mind? When? Oh let's follow him around for 6 months with non-stop coverage of when he's going to make up his mind. People who could care less about Brett Favre or the Vikings were so sick of it they actually started to hate him. They blamed him for not making up mind, when the real problem was the media. It wasn't that they cared, it was the constant harping in the media. Imagine that harping times 100,000. Everyone is going to tire of it and blame him for the media onslaught. Even his current supporters are going to get sick of it.
That was soooo effen annoying.
It could happen. He should make a limited time only offer to Cruz for VP. That seals the nomination with 2 people the gop establishment hates. They totally deserve it. I want to see Kasich stay in then and look like a punk every primary.
Ah--and you think something else is going to happen? What?
If he got elected I think he would get bopped by someone who believed they were doing the Lord's work, or whatever it is those people adhere to...? Science manifest as a celestial entity or more simply maybe just following the orders of Neil deGrasse Tyson that came to them in their dreams.
I blame ice cubes gangsta rap.
Serious question, is it better to laugh at these assholes and ridicule them or is it better to just start kicking the shit out of them and make protesting a contact sport? I am torn. I understand the danger of violence but I think these assholes are so far gone that they likely wouldn't understand ridicule and I seriously doubt any of them are up to facing any actual violence.
I think it will eventually be self-correcting. The further out of control the campuses allow them to get, the more this stuff is going to get out there. That will impact enrollment. It already has. Of course when college is "free", will they care? Too liberal too fail?

I hope you are right. And hopefully you are. I am inclined to let these people hang themselves. I do fear, however that if someone doesn't stand up to them they will just get bolder and bolder until something really awful happens.
My concern is that if this idiocy is catered to, it will become expected. Once these people enter the workforce and *shudders* positions within the government, will it continue?
Not in the private sector, that is without government interference which could happen.
One successful lawsuit and it's all over
I wish that were the case, but universities who accept only a small percentage of applicants could burn a half-dozen conservative students alive every year and still maintain a full campus.
The future of the university in an internet world will be primarily social; students will attend universities that provide an ideological grounding that suits their personalities. The good news is that we'll likely see several more Hillsdales developing over time and libertarianish ghettos like the econ departments at GMU and NYU.
The bad news is that the left will further seal itself off from the civilized world, and the ugliness that has become commonplace on college campuses for generations now will become more brazen until/unless universities start getting serious about expelling students who believe their political beliefs exempt them from minimal intellectual or moral standards.
Interesting thought. That having been said, after all the dust clears in the fairgrounds of Trumpalooza and Berniefest, we'll see a resurgence of the radical center.
"Radical center" is not the phrase I'm looking for, actually...think Bill Clinton centrism.
Trump is the nexus of the radical center and the crazy MARS who apparently went into hiding after Perot disappeared. I have serious doubts about a truce-maker like Clinton (words I did not expect to ever write) coming onto the scene anytime soon. The danger of the Celebrity President is that executive experience and demonstrated ability to strike deals with antagonistic opponents counts for virtually nothing in the electoral process anymore, and both sides become increasingly entrenched.
It used to be that the president was almost always an established executive, and having charm or grace helped his cause electorally. If I'm reading the tea leaves correctly, executive experience is now a net negative since it provides ammo to the antis, whereas maintaining a political blank slate can allow an empty suit to coast into office on rhetoric and personality.
Thanks, Obama!
I think ridiculing them is generally better.
1) It's the ethical thing to do.
2) It makes their movement less attractive on the margins
3) And when they do cross lines and their targets feel to need to defend themselves, their being held in contempt means that they will get less support.
What about when they cross the line into violence like here?
"I want you to be nice.. until it's time..to not be nice"
Open carry on campus might encourage more civil discourse or at least keep the bullies in their conference rooms.
What about when they cross the line into violence like here?
You have every right to defend yourself. If you choose to take a beating for strategic reasons, that's your right as well.
Dare I say it is your right, nigh, your duty! to go medieval on their ass when, and only when, the violence is initiated first. I would say this is one of those cases and someone would have been morally within their rights to bloody these assholes.
to bloody these assholes
STEVE SMITH ON WAY TO BERKELEY RIGHT NOW, BUT IT HARD TO HITCHHIKE WHEN STEVE KEEP RAPING DRIVERS TO DEATH.
I think the point where ridicule would work has either passed or is close enough to passing as to not matter.
Were I a speaker on a campus and my speech was likely to prompt someone to rush the stage I'd ensure a bouncer-type or two was available to intercept and visit harm upon them once they reached the stage.
The guy who rushed Trump on the podium had his shirt torn and was later on Twitter flipping Trump the bird and getting a ton of praise from all the right-thinking morons out there. That, alone, is probably going to more to escalate the danger to all the candidates and their supporters than any rhetoric from the stump. That dude paid no price for doing something that should, probably, have gotten him beaten to a pulp.
There was one a couple of years ago where some 20 year old spit on an octogenarian WWII vet, who proceeded to take off his jacket and whip the young guy's ass. That's a fair fight. Same if they assault a woman. Knock a couple down. A more able-bodied man should probably exercise some restraint. Never punch down unless you're really in fear of serious injury.
I think that using violence against them would mostly just lend credibility to their claim that the right is just a bunch of nasty, violent racists. And that ignores the whole moral issue. Ridiculing them is the way to go.
I wouldn't want to fight them; the state is on their side because they are pro-authority. And the state don't lose fisticuffs.
start with ridicule. when they don't stop their assaults, turn them into Rodney fucking Kings.
Our colleges have created a generation of God Damn Commies.
A certain percentage of humanity has always been beyond redemption. Universities didn't create these people, but they often encourage them to act out and provide them with an institutional framework that encourages their behavior on every level.
Again, I apologize for my generation.
GIMME FOO GIMME FIRE GIMME DABBOW DAB DEDIRE
'Let's take it easy on him guys' and then the moron escapes and tries to...assault the speaker.
That's when he's fair game if you ask me.
I'm guessing that a large majority of the protesters' majors contain the word "studies."
I would not bet against that
We need to get plants in there to redirect their ire. For instance, if we can get them to get congress to spend 100% of it's time rewriting the millions of pages of laws into gender neutral language that would keep them too busy to do anything else.
They would just create a new agency to do that for them.
Why else do you think these shitheads are so quick to equate thoughtcrime and microaggressions with real violence? It's so that when they engage in violence they can justify it to themselves as "self defense." That way, when/ if they ever actually get to live out their authoritarian wet dreams of loading all of us wreckers and kulaks onto trains headed for the re-education camps their consciences will be clean.
Until it's their turn to get on the train, as will eventually happen.

does this remind anyone of another recent rally where the left prevented others form speaking? does the name Trump come to anyone?
This is the country socialists want. Intimidation, coercion and violence masquerading as "protest" is all they have.
Why doesn't someone just punch that little turd that ran on to the stage in the face? As Barry said, punch back twice as hard. They need to learn a lesson.
