Given that they've run articles about Hillary supporters leaving each other to die, and burning down towns in Iowa to stop the advance of the Sanders campaign, AFTER said purchase, I think the argument that they're in the tank for Hillary is kind of comical.

It seems like a fairly obvious jab at the irony of the first credible female presidential candidate not being inspirational enough.

It is a form of situational irony - basically, for years, everyone expected that it would be HUGELY INSPIRATIONAL for blacks and women to become president.

Now? It's old hat. It isn't anything remarkable.

Of course, it makes perfect sense - by the time the US was willing to elect black people or women to the highest offices, it was, by definition, past the point at which we'd be willing to do so. We consider it to be unremarkable because it IS unremarkable.

People historically thought it would be hugely inspirational, but it ended up being quite mundane.

Madeline Albright's recent article was a great example of this; she was super proud of being the first female secretary of state. To her granddaughter, more women than men had been Secretary of State during her lifetime. "What's the big deal about Grandma Maddie being secretary of state?" she asked when Hillary Clinton succeeded Condaleeza Rice as Secretary of State. "I thought they were always girls."

The problem with this evidence is that there are so many other things going on that they either overlook or ignore completely - like solar activity - which would more than explain any of the phenomena which they purport to be studying in detail fine enough to show the tiny changes involved.

The system they are talking about is so overly complex - much, much more complex than the level at which they are studying it that their conclusions cannot be supported with the "evidence" they present.

In addition, in any real scientific research the discussion is marked by the lines of counter-evidence which are welcomed and discussed. In the AGW discussion all dissent is squelched - not disputed. Total BS.

Not really. You have to take a day course that runs through a book, fill out a form for the RCMP for 'bella figura' and you're set. I got mine pretty quick. I know, they gave ME a permit. /swings shot gun around.

Now how many they reject I don't know. Maybe that's where the crime - to the extent gun ownership is a right and not one to be monitored by the government - really is against liberty.

Doesn't that also depend on the firearm itself?

Yes, handguns are legal in Canada. If you want to own a handgun, (or other "restricted" firearms such as AR-15 rifles) in Canada you will additionally need to to pass a second course called the CRFSC (the R is for Restricted,) and pay a bit more on the application to get a PAL which allows you to buy restricted firearms.

Although not technically correct, most people call it an RPAL, you can guess what the R in front is for. Although an RPAL is actually just a PAL which says "restricted" on the back (in addition to "non-restricted") under the sections that list what types of firearms you are allowed to acquire and possess.

An RPAL is absolutely not a concealed weapons permit and does not authorize you to carry a handgun. Carrying a handgun in Canada without authorization is very illegal and there is virtually no way for you to get authorization to do so without having a job which requires it.
