If you wanted to see a gif of Hillary Clinton dancing.
Nope.
Hello.
"Ever the kill-joys, The New York Times editorial board wonders whether it's morally wrong to watch football."
Is it morally wrong to read the NYT?
It may be morally wrong to pay for the privilege.
Yes.
Those Free Beacon guys can be fun.
That wasn't dancing. It was a seizure.
Thumbs and leg kicks?
Pretty darned close.
Are vines really just GIFs!??
Animated GIFs.
GIFs?
Here's a cat hitting another cat.
Playboy model Katie May does at age 34 after suffering stroke. And the story includes pictures.
Dies, rather.
Yeah...that makes more sense! RIP!
She can give me a stroke!
P.S. Condolences to the family.
Super classy.
It had to be said. Have you forgotten where you are?
At least he didn't call her a cunt.
Hey, I said condolences to the family!
All I know is Maurice White died.
EW&F is good music.
Well, that is very sad.
Pictures of her suffering a stroke?
That was my first thought, too.
Girl gotta a ass for a playboy model.
srike an 'a', any one will do.
Diane Reynolds (Paul.)|2.5.16 @ 5:05PM|#
Just call him Pul.
She's the first SS playboy model?
srike an 'a', any one will do.
Nope. Still doesn't jibe.
Would have.
Is she still warm? Asking for a friend.
Everything above me is why Postrel hates us.
So you're a bottom?
Ever the kill-joys, The New York Times editorial board wonders whether it's morally wrong to watch football.
That's why I only watch Sketti-wrassling.
I'm morally certain that it's wrong to read the NYTs.
...The New York Times editorial board wonders whether it's morally wrong to watch football.
If you root for Denver you're racist.
No, that's ESPN's line. The Times is more general.
If you root for Denver you're going to be disappointed. Beatdown's a-comin'.
Your prescience is astounding.
The Strangelove Suite: Northern Ireland sells nuclear bunker
Are there separate sections for protestants and catholics?
Key gov't and legal figures? It's all for Protestants.
I'd wager that its construction is what kicked the Troubles into high gear.
You're right, of course. I was going for the quick snark.
I was just thinking the Vatican should buy it.
Built in the 80s. We cannot allow ourselves to have a mineshaft gap!
If I was a prepper who emerged from my bunker only to discover that all of the remaining survivors were self-identified "key government and legal figures", I'd off myself then and there.
Will Bernie Sanders be able to compete for Latino voters?
I DON'T KNOW SINCE THERE'S NO LINK HERE.
They're just...asking...questions.
Nobody reads the links anyway.
Not since ENB posts multiple links to the same thing, but only one works.
Yes. Next question.
They like Hugo, they like Evo, they'll love Bernie.
Will Bernie Sanders be able to compete for Latino voters?
Nobody needs 23 kinds of voters.
But I'll bet Bernie has a program to make sure everybody gets their fair share of free Latino voters.
Worst PM Links ever.
Sometimes, the news cycle just doesn't give you much to work with.
Dartmouth College frats forbidden to engage in "cultural appropriation."
What happens if they have a potluck dinner? Do different races have to eat different foods? What about drinks? Separate kegs?
This has got to stop. Seriously. The PC bullshit, that is.
Can we get some First Amendment over here?
SLD: Private school, but still.
Reason number eleventy billion to move off-campus ASAP.
Toga Party or Road Trip??
I said this in 1995.
Actually different races will not be permitted to interact. It's the only way we can be sure that cultures won't be appropriating from each other - forced segregation.
I always want to ask, if you assume that white males have the economic and cultural power, how the hell is segregation ever going to change anything? You will just have a parallel society and economy with no economic or cultural power.
It didn't work too well in South Africa.
People who worry about "cultural appropriation" are complete morons. They have no point whatsoever. There are aspects of the political correctness culture where there's some good, maybe in intentions, maybe in being polite. But not with the "cultural appropriation" bullshit.
Yo-Yo Ma playing Bach: Cultural thief appropriating Teutonic greatness, or culturally oppressed slave to whitey's music?
Both!
There are aspects of the political correctness culture where there's some good, maybe in intentions, maybe in being polite.
I think you're giving too much credit. PC, at best, is a cowering fear of acknowledging that people are different from one another. At worst, it's a subversive way to roll back Brown v. Board.
I had in mind things like microaggression. It's nice to be polite. Obviously, it's blown out of proportion these days, but I see that there could be a bit of good intentions hidden there. My point is that unlike with microaggression or even safe spaces you cannot offer a positive interpretation of worries about cultural appropriation. It's pure evil.
People who worry about "cultural appropriation" are complete morons.

"Let the locally produced vehicle move forward."
How eco-conscious of them!
"Let the locally produced vehicle move forward."
Sounds like one of those slogans plastered all over Nork-land. "Let the strength of our fish-processing plant workers lift us to great victory over the devil Americans!"
It's hilarious how they surround it probably thinking now they have the Jews and Western hordes licked.
Losers.
C'mon Rufus......don't spoil it for them.....I see a feel good, made for TV movie about these plucky souls going up against a much better financed foe.

Ever the kill-joys, The New York Times editorial board wonders whether it's morally wrong to watch football.
I'm only watching for the commercials.
I would have thought you would have watched for Cam Newton. Don't tell me you wouldn't.
Aren't most racists normally homophobic as well?
Or is this like one of those double negative things?
It is obvious he is trying to prove how racist he isn't. It is not working.
Wood. Er, would.
I wouldn't say no, but he's a bit pretty for my taste.
More your speed?
Eh, his tendency to keep his hair long is off-putting.
Watching for the commercials is engaging in a morally questionable capitalistic lifestyle and will also be frowned upon.
WE WANT YOUR SOUL
Not that I need any sort of external guidance, but I've generally found it best to do whatever the NYT thinks is morally wrong.
I don't own a TV. Not my thing.
2 minutes left to go in the third, Cal up by 8.
Good. I don't have the internet either.
I don't own a TV. Not my thing.
What do you watch youtube on? Or play Fallout4 on?
...both the accused and accuser are members of a Title IX organization.
They can each sue one another under Title 4.5.
Private investigator found no evidence to substantiate the claim. Girl is trying to get him thrown out of conference they both want to attend despite lack of any evidence period. Got to say, sympathy for this guy is nill. He's been feeding this type of witch hunt by being a member of this organization. Maybe if we are lucky he'll remember this and work to not allow it to happen to anyone else in the future.
So... nuke it from orbit?
Man is allergic to his new car and can only drive it for 40 minutes a week
Did he not test drive it?
A frustrated car owner can only drive his new ?18,000 motor or 40 minutes a week - because he is allergic to it.
Probably not for 40 minutes...
Funny, I'm allergic to Audi drivers.
We know, you guys are only into Fiats, Minis and New Beetles.
Miatas are pretty sweet.
You have a Miata with snow tires?
I have an Impreza and a Miata. One goes to the mountains the other to the coast.
I did drive the Miata to Yosemite in the snow on Thanksgiving. Top down, on summer tires, fuck chains. That was actually a real test of driving skill. The park rangers were amused.
Nah, I just hate the man-children who spend just shy of 50k of their parents' money to buy a marginal status car and then drive around like everyone else on the road should treat them like a king...
An ex girlfriend of mine once sold a car to a woman who was "sensitive" to smells. She spent a hour in the car sniffing every surface before she agreed to buy it. It was bizarre.
Yet another reason to rub everything with essence of female dog.
I've got the weirdest boner.
There's a Seinfeld about this
Also, even a child knows that there will be a lot of formaldehyde in any new car. Almost as bad as a new house. And this gayhole claims to be a chemist?

Who was in the box?
Gwyneth Paltrow?
What's in the box?
Bah! The John Doe Has the Upper Hand scene was possibly Brad Pitt's worst acting performance ever caught on film.
"Oh God!"(anguished face, steely face, repeat ad nauseam.)
It ruined an otherwise perfectly mediocre to good movie.
I'm guessing not the husband anymore.

Matthew Iglesias: "Nazis had a lot of good ideas. There, I said it. Shame about the war and genocide."
Funny how a progressive leaves out the eugenics. (I think he responded in this way just to be a troll, but I'm still going to read into it.)
He is so edgy!

of course they did, Matt *pats head*

I followed him until I got blocked for asking if Vox hired him because a Hispanic autistic man is a two-for as a diversity hire.
Your jib, I like the cut of it.
Hey! Stop appropriating sailing culture!
I guess I don't know the context and I'm not going to read the character-salad that is a twitter feed.

Doctor Convicted of Murder For Letting Patients Dose Themselves
Why bother apologizing to these fucking cunts? They think you "stole" their family members by giving them what they wanted.
Because he's trying to get the judge not to sentence him to a longer term. If you look unrepentant they'll throw the book at you guaranteed.
The doctor was a woman you cis-het-shitlord!
If I sell a gun to someone and they kill themselves, can I therefore be charged with murder under this retarded law?
I think it depends on how upset their mommy is about it.
And if she's friends with a legislator.
Just keep givin' them ideas....
Why bother apologizing to these fucking cunts? They think you "stole" their family members by giving them what they wanted.

It seems to have become largely a sex comedy and during the commercial breaks there's lots of commercials aimed at women.
Presumably, the women who are watching to indulge their fantasies about meek, submissive rich nerds?
It was a good show for about a season and a half. Then it turned into Friends with nerd jokes. My wife loves the show because she thinks she gets some insight into me (and because she loves Friends). I watch the show because my wife loves it.
I'm sorry to hear that.
How I Met Your Mother is actually a good show.
I really like HIMYM.

New York crane collapse kills at least one person
Did the FBI respond to this since a person was actually killed? (ref: NYC drone post, above)
My thought 'xactly.
Who were they going to hassle, other than a crew of politically connected union members?
Maybe the driver of the parked car, I guess.
driver of a parked car, eh?
I had it in mind that the victim was a passenger waiting on the driver. No idea why. But it would be just like law enforcement to immediately begin hassling the poor SOB who's returning from his errand to find his friend mashed up under a crane.
The only link that matters today is HM's twerking video from earlier. I'm writing it in for Pres 2016

Nuh uh. #1 is the not. Edmund, the Prince Regent's butler became King George IV.
Sanders & Clinton Battle For Ownership of "Progressivise" Title (tho no one is sure WTF it actually means)
The best commentary I saw on the debate said that Sanders won because all the fights were on his turf.
I am inclined to believe it. If Hillary finds herself trying to out-progressive Bernie she is toast.
Toast vs bernie?
You smell toast?
Yeah, she's very much a country club liberal.
"Progressivise"? Sheesh, speak *American*!
I think i may have intended 'most Progressivist"

Islamic State militants have slipped into Europe disguised as refugees
SLIPPED in? More like given the keys to the country.
Oh, that's going to make the progs very, very angry.
Yeah, say what you will about immigration and refugees, but I don't think there's a lot of 'slipping' in.
This Facebook post about Oberlin's anti-Semitism problem is hilarious because the writer of the Post also seems like a total moron. Is there anyone competent attending that school?
" That time a Jewish person made a comment on fb saying "the only reason people care about the Holocaust is because it happened to white people" and got tons of likes from white and POC friends alike (Erasing the fact that the western world only decided to care a few decades after the fact, when it wasnt as fresh, and theyd had the time to really work out the details of how they were going to frame it and make it look like the US were the heroes liberating the camps after the US government knew what was being planned by Hitler, knew waht happening while it was happening, and did nothing. Not to mention sending Jewish immigrants trying to escape before the war broke out back to Europe to die in the gas chambers."
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
That's not why we kind of downplayed the Holocaust! We did that because we needed the Germans as allies to check the advance of the Soviets! This is so fucking stupid.
Although her comments about shit her Oberlin friends said are hilarious.
"The multiple times the Holocaust was referred to as "white on white crime" by my POC peers and hip white Jewish peers, (erasing the fact that ashkenazi jews were NOT seen as white and were being killed in the name of eugenics and white purity and also erasing the fact that blacks, Roma, and north african Jews were also killed in the camps.)"
I took a stroll through Tempelhof Airfield, the other day, site of the Berlin Airlift, now a park. I was surprised to learn that there was a second airlift at the same time. Apparently after the war the Jews were fleeing the Eastern Bloc and taking shelter in Berlin, where the Brits were then flying them out to Israel as fast as possible on the same runways on which the Americans were bringing in food and supplies.
Johnny Football's father: "If my son doesn't get help, he won't live to see his 24th birthday."
His family was publicly pushing for him to "get help" when he was in college. It is so strange.
See above with the story of Dr Cheng being convicted of murder because parents don't like when their kids don't want to conform socially.
Yeah. He is going to party away an unbelievable opportunity, but apparently that is what he wants to do. Maybe his parents publicly airing his business contributes to that.
I don't know, I think when your son (ALLEGEDLY!) threatens a murder / suicide you have grounds to be concerned.
Yes, but it is none of my business.
I'm still just hoping Stephen Jones keeps his old man away from a phone and Johnny Football's contact info...
Chocolate Ramen, Hipsters
a sweet treat for Valentine's Day
"Oh, Honey, you *shouldn't* have!"
I did not know "Valentines Day" had made its way to Japan. I know they love American-Kitch culture, but didn't realize they went so far as to ape our Hallmark-Holidays.
Except in Japan, women are expected to give men chocolate for Valentine's Day.
Is "chocolate" some kind of euphemism in Japan?

OT: Gilmore did you ever eat at Rao's? And what's your take on Carmine's?
Yes i've eaten at Carmines, not (to my memory) the other one... (looks it up) Oh,The "red door" place. I used to drive by it all the time when i lived on the upper east side w/ my bro. It was "famous" but i never managed to eat there.
...re: Carmines... my take on every restaurant in the Times Sq area is roughly the same = they're more-focused on appealing to tourists than being real exceptional 'dining' experiences. Carmines' is famous for serving portions so large you end up splitting everything. Which is A.OK, just don't expect the food to have a light touch.
I'm not the biggest Italian-eater, and the places i like best in the city are all fairly small storefront restaurants in the village/LES. they're just a more pleasant environment than some big popular place that serves 1000 people a day. This place was always very good. Veal wrapped in prosciutto was my go-to
""Veal Scaloppine alla Valdostana (Veal topped with Prosciutto and Fontina cheese) ""
Cool. Thanks.
Second vote for Porto Bello - delicious food and comfortable atmosphere.
I've never eaten at Rao's - I've heard booked into infinity.
That's why I was wondering if it's worth it.
I'll keep PB in mind.
When in the city for a weekend, I generally eat the following:
John's Pizza (Village)
Balthazar - breakfast and also love happy hour
Mercer Kitchen - yeah, part of a hotel, but always solid with business associates
Once Upon a Tart - snacks
I'm with Gilmore - lots of good places in the Village(s) and Soho. AVOID midtown at all costs.
NEVER, EVER eat at WD-50
Balthazar is great, if you can get in.
And WD-50 is closed.
Also a decent place that ive eated a half-dozen times

Its called "rustica" italian (which i don't think means anything).. but i think the idea is that its 'fresh ingredients, very lightly prepared'. Not a lot of cooking, emphasis on simple dishes, butter, garlic, salt pepper.
its a bit-hipster. Its in the east village and they have picnic-style seating. nice place to drink a few bottles of wine and get a lot of appetizers/antipasti
'Rustica' means rustic and can be meaningless. If they cook literally like a regional place in northern Italy 'alla rustica' it might make sense but Italian cuisine at its heart is 'rustica'.
i actually meant to suggest that place as well as its sister joints
http://www.frankrestaurant.com/
http://lilfrankies.com/
...all in the East Village. They all have the same emphasis of being small, crafty, unique places with slightly different spins on italian food. but all very good.

I keep seeing the exchange between Hillary and Bernie where Hillary denounces the Sanders' "smear campaign" about her taking money from Wall Street, declaring there is no evidence she has ever changed a view or a vote based on the money - but listening to the Clintonspeak I can't help but notice she specifically says "changed" a view or a vote. This leaves open the interpretation that the truth of the matter is she didn't have a view or a vote until somebody paid her to, and having gotten paid for it she stayed bought. Maybe she's being totally honest, she never took money for changing her position, she just took money for establishing her position.
Well, the most important thing is that Sanders never alleged she was corrupt, merely that she is the banks' chosen candidate.
She could be a banker's best friend because she actually supports those policies.
You raise and interesting point, Irish. Because if Bernie doesn't go after her on the emails thing that tells me his candidacy is a sham.
No it doesn't. The people he wants to vote for him don't think the email thing is a thing.
Yeah, he doesn't want Republican votes. His support comes from people who think Hillary is fine, just not offering a pointy enough stick to jab at rich corporations to fund free shit.
Quinnipiac published a poll today showing them tied nationally. I think it's an outlier, but he's doing pretty well for running a sham campaign.
Why do you think it is sham? Im worried he may win
I don't think it's a sham.
if Bernie doesn't go after her on the emails thing that tells me his candidacy is a sham
Not if he sees her as the enemy of his enemy. Attacking her on the emails would imply he sees some legitimacy to "national security" concerns. Not to mention that I doubt it will get much traction among his own supporters.
"That left Hillary barking across the midnight hour like a malign Speak-Your-Weight Machine with a jammed quarter." Mark Steyn on Hillary's Iowa speech.
That is a tremendous quote.
The Greek letters on each of the frat houses are culturally appropriated. If I see an Indian member of one of those frats wearing a baseball cap or wearing blue jeans, I'm going to report them to the appropriate authorities.

It would depend on the value of the average number of corporate logos displayed multiplied by the number of total douches attending who paid for it on their corporate credit card. If that number exceeds 400,000 I'm going skiing.
Be super careful and don't kill yourself running into a tree or anything.
I keep holding out hope that he'll start living up to his convictions, abstain from participation in the dirty, corrupt capitalist system, and subsequently starve to death.
That comment just means he can't afford to go or isn't productive enough that someone who is invites him.
Sour grapes it is. If some company he made money for invited him then he would be praising the event and his attendance.
Nope. I would politely decline. No interest.
I'm just saying the Super Bowl sucks-- perfect storm of menacing nationalism, rich assholes, self-aware television advertising, and mediocre half time acts. Better to go out and spend some time in the mountains.
You judge the value of watching the game based in large part on who is sitting in the stands?
Dude you can go ski and then watch the superbowl. It's OK I do it every year.
So, are you a poor asshole? A well-off asshole? O, maybe an "I do OK" asshole?
We all know you lack self-awareness, so the advertising has at least one up on you.
This is...I don't even know... Were you scared, widdle AmSoc? Did it make you cry?
Don't let him fool you. He doesn't like football because that's a game for low brows, and he's terrified someone in his clique might think he's a low brow too.
Hey, I don't particularly like football, either, but it's got nothing to do with who plays or watches (whatever the fuck that could possibly count towards, when you aren't even at the game!).
But, yeah, for someone with "social" in their handle, it really is worried about signaling.
He doesn't like football because that's a game for low brows
That's a tough case to make nowadays.
And participate in a past time reserved for the upper crust of society- with its 80 dollar tickets, expensive equipment and nearly 100% white clients?
How classest of you.
There is also this sport thingy that happens. I think it decides the season's winner of a niche appeal athletic activity
^^^^ The OP is what retarded people actually post on the internet.
Skiing? How bourgeois of you...
You know what buttplug? I never hated you as much as everyone else and even thought you made a good post every once in a while. But you just gored my most sacred of cows. Everyone was right about you after all.
Balin's Puttplug
I think that's a spoof account, yo.
Ok. I just really really like skiing. Until mid-April it's all I really care about in this world.
You understand that he was just rating skiing by the same standard that amsoc rating the Super Bowl right?
Skiing is great (I'll be in Tahoe next week) but if you are a professed socialist who was honest with himself, you'd be condemning it as a classest playtime for WASPy 1-percenters.
Shoulda called it Baelin's Puttplug.
Aw, it's like you think we forgot that thread where you bathed in a dead guy's blood.
I did? I think I just said that you shouldn't try pulling a gun on an FBI agent. Common sense, man. The real criminal in this case is cliven bundy, who cheered this lunatic's death from the safety of his ranch. He makes exactly the same arguments that ISIS does when they send in a suicide bomber. Fuck him. He's sick.
No, no, I understand. Dead people don't matter if they're white or they can't be used to push for gun control.
I hope it's cross-country skiing. Downhill is for capitalist running-dog lackeys.
Its immoral to have (at least) 23 types of leisure options this Sunday, amiright you fucking slaver?
IRS computers back online, agency mum about causes. Note that the language has changed from "hardware failure" to suspected hardware failure.
The New York Times editorial board wonders whether it's morally wrong to watch football.
They wonder about stuff like that because they honestly have no idea. Progs have no moral compass, so determining right and wrong for them is more about the journey. Like an android trying to understand human emotion.
They know that culturally inferior people enjoy it, therefore there is probably something morally inferior about it as well.
Its how they rationalize things. See above = Amsoc pretending that skiing makes him superior. Despite Ski-resorts being the most environmentally destructive, endangered-species - habitat-destroying "sport" in existence.
its all about making fashion statements while being blithely ignorant of their own screaming hypocrisy. The NYT really isn't saying anything about "Football" itself, and everything about themselves. e.g. "we are better than this".
This post makes me want to ski.
Culturally inferior scum like me are the elite of skiing. I'm the dirtbag skier puffing a joint and sipping whiskey on the lift while spotting the line for that sweet cliff huck I'm going to nail. Actually that's how I golf too.
Jezynowka is the superior drink for skiing.
You're a bad person if you don't want to watch the Super Bowl?
Not bad, but unAmerican. NFL football is glorious bloodsport and this is the crowning moment. I hope Peyton fumbles the first snap.
No = You're a very stupid person when you rely on straw-men
I don't want to watch the Super Bowl either, but you're a bad person. Does that answer your question?
[light applause]
Further =
if the moral-argument against football is that the people who voluntarily participate often end up injuring themselves in the course of it... (which would nevertheless be tiny - since 99% of the people who play rarely pursue it beyond high-school)...
...Skiing would be far worse by a factor of 10. While the injury rates are lower than many other sport, the rate of severe injuries is very-high. You're far more likely to break legs, neck, etc. hurtling yourself down a hill for amusement than engaging in some full-contact sports while heavily padded. You're also far more likely to *kill someone else*.
Eh, I still think the most dangerous part of skiing is driving to the ski area.
Its how they rationalize things. See above = Amsoc pretending that skiing makes him superior. Despite Ski-resorts being the most environmentally destructive, endangered-species - habitat-destroying "sport" in existence.
YOU TAKE THAT BACK!!11!
*hugs snowboard*
Dartmouth College frats forbidden to engage in "cultural appropriation."
If they don't all immediately and deliberately start breaking that rule non-stop, they are worthless as human beings.
Of all the idiotic bullshit I hear about the "cultural appropriation" complaint is close to the top of the list for sheer idiocy.
It's even dumber than you think. From the article:
They're prohibited from displaying the school's symbol because "KULTCHURAL APPROPRIAYSHUNZ!11!111!!!!!"
I have to wonder: how many of the people in these "Greek houses" are actually Greek? Taylor Watson certainly doesn't sound like a Greek name
There it is: it's all about stealing money.
More idiocy:
"Gender Inclusive Greek Council" That's a real fucking thing? The fuck happened to this world...
Because pogroms based on anonymous complaints are TEH AWESOMEZ!11!111!!!!!
All anyone has to do is not participate, and the whole thing falls apart.
"Greek" just means buttsex.
You just had to jump on FoE's bandwagon, didn't you.
It's just been that kind of day.
Wait, the offended party gets the fine $? The fuck?!? These assholes descend into shakedowns and dictatorships faster than you can GRAB ITS LEG
Of all the idiotic bullshit I hear about the "cultural appropriation" complaint is close to the top of the list for sheer idiocy.
That's pretty much what I said upthread.
And with better use of punctuation.
Follow-up on Cruz: From the standpoint of a libertarian or a conservative, now that Paul's out Cruz is at least the least-bad candidate.
I'm trying to think of an issue where Cruz is worse than the other guys. Maybe wanting to enforce the prohibition statutes to the letter instead of corruptly and selectively ignoring them. Of course, a rule-of-law stance ought to include enforcing the Rohrenbacher (sp?) Amendment.
And I suppose one *could* argue that Cruz is more war-monger-ish than, well, than Sanders (I assume it's accepted that he won't be worse than Obama and Hillary).
Though when ISIS kills Americans, that's traditionally considered an act of war deserving some kind of reprisal.
Now, on the plus side, Cruz actually voted against funding Obamacare. Or as the media (and apparently Reason) put it - he CAUSED A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN OMG!
Now, to me, if you're against Obamacare you shouldn't vote to appropriate money for it. If you vote to fund Obamacare that means you voted for Obamacare. I guess that's just me.
And how Cruz gets blamed for the "fund Obamacare or I'll veto the entire appropriation bill" thing is a mystery to me.
I mean, if you're for Obamacare then you want Obama to fight to keep the funding. If you're against Obamacare then you want Congress to fight to cut off the funding.
But we get the narrative that voting against an unpopular program = OMG anarchy.
And even Reason seems to be impressed at how he went into Iowa and opposed ethanol subsidies and still won.
In the ethanol and "shutdown" things, he showed that he can stand up to pressure.
On criminal justice, not so much. Now that he's officially been on both sides we can't really tell where he'd end up if he were Pres.
On gay marriage, he takes the same federalist position as Rand Paul ("leave it to the states"), but apparently coming from Cruz it's more sinister.
Oh, and he referred to school choice as "the civil rights issue of the 21st century."
I'm okay with Cruz. I think the Democrats are really afraid of Hillary losing. In the big scheme of things none of this matters. Fuck it dudes, let's go skiing.
Right fucking on. I don't know if I'd say I'm OK with Cruz. But fuck it. There are many better things to do than worry about elections and none of these assholes gives a shit what I think anyway.
I would definitely say I'm not OK with Cruz, but having real gasoline at the pumps again would be fucking swell.
Your vote doesn't matter anyway, especially if you're in a solidly partisan state. It's strange and sad the way people tie themselves in knots over who to "support."
We have up maintain the illusion any of this bullshit matters in the slightest or people might wake up to the fact that it doesn't.
I live in an area that went 82% for Obama during the last election (Romney - 14%, Stein - 2%, Johnson - 1%). I'm under no illusion about my vote counting. On the plus side, that makes me a 1%!! Woo! GayJay '16!
The Electoral College is just a bad idea.
Are you taking AMSOC along as one of the guys ?
Anyone who thinks that it doesn't matter is ignorant of history.
That's why I like him. Power of the purse motherfuckers, use it.

I will move away from a policy of unilateral military action and regime change, and toward a policy of emphasizing diplomacy, and ensuring the decision to go to war is a last resort."

So im relatively new here but seeing this person's post and handle, i am thinking they have to be a troll right?? No one can possibly be this dumb
He is indeed that dumb.
Didn't Sanders have anti-war activists arrested when he supported the Kosovo War?
Don't know. Which Republican liberty candidate has said something even remotely like this?
Rand Paul ?
What's a "Republican liberty" candidate?
But what difference does it make if his words are meaningless?
http://www.mintpressnews.com/b.....ce/208066/
George W. Bush in 2000.
Don't know. Which Republican liberty candidate has said something even remotely like this?'
Are you referring to the 18 trillion dollars in free shit he has promised the non producers in society to gain their support ?
None of the Republicans have done that.
In fact, the only one to date to have won a primary came out against ethanol subsidies in a corn producing State.
That kinda highlights a conservative attitude vs. a socialist one doncha thing AmSoc ?
Socialists want to force others to take care of them because it is their right
No GOP candidates have promised to repeal fredom of speech and press either, unlike Sanders.
Yeah, this is about the same promise candidate Barack Obama made in 2008. In fact, didn't GW Bush say he wanted to focus less on international affairs and more on domestic? We can't blame Bush that much for changing his emphasis because 9/11 happened. But Obama changed his mind, and so would a president Sanders.

But what about his view on skiing and ski resorts? Has he proposed policies to make skiing more affordable to the working class?
You're not truly free unless you can enjoy affordable skiing. FFS, don't we ALL own mountains? And snow?
It's fucking $90 a day at Killing for Lift Tickets.
I remember when it was less than $30. Also, I may be old.
*killington
Bernie likes to focus his aggression on the citizens here at home.
Re: American Stultified,
Ever the interventionist, that Bernie!
The test of a great and powerful nation is not how many wars it can engage in but how many wars it can supply with weapons at affordable prices for everybody.

I was reading the idiotic NYT article on the alleged immorality of football, and I ventured into the comments section. While there are a few brave souls trying to steer the rest towards sanity, it's mostly a pulsing, writhing mass of derp.
A lot of commenters seem to think that American football is the only violent sport on Earth. I guess they've never seen a game of rugby before and truly believe that those oh-so-civilized Europeans spend their free time with noble, intellectual pursuits.
Is that the claim? Didn't RTFA, but it's true the NFL is violently raping the taxpayer.
I agree 100 percent that it's bullshit what cronyism goes on between the NFL and city governments. But the article seems to be attacking the very idea of having football as a televised sport. The entire premise seems to be, "football players are enslaved and suffer lifelong injuries and disabilities, so anyone who watches the game is a bad person."
But IF we disposed of bullshit like taxpayer-funded stadiums, and IF football were just made up of voluntary players knocking heads for the amusement of voluntarily-paying fans, there would be absolutely nothing morally wrong with it.
I agree, of course. The ship has sailed on stopping the govt from restricting voluntary association, so they are now trying to reverse engineer a moral justification.
You don't understand. They're the same person, except she's pointing a finger at her reflection in a mirror going "You raped me!"
It's not morally wrong as long as you understand you're watching it so you learn what the sinners are thinking.
They can't say "Vamos, muchachos!" any more.
Sorry. He can't say "Vamos, muchachos!" - that's cultural appropriation.

Holy shit. That's badass.
The N.F.L. could find yet another revenue stream with a downloadable app that could load metrics into a "game suit" featuring pneumatic devices allowing fans to feel every blindside sack by a 350-pound lineman, every "tremendous hit" experienced on the field.
I like this idea, actually. How about a collar that fits around politicians necks and slowly constricts everytime they pass a new tax or regulation. With INXS playing in the earbuds of course.

I remember the priest yelling at people for tuning into the radio for five minutes to find out the status of a game. And the sexton, my godfather, was the worst one for it. The priest's objection, however, was that people were making money, not anything particular about games.
And no, they weren't doing it in church. It was in the parking lot.

Heh. Cool.
There was this weird period where the Nissan Leaf briefly attracted status-minded drivers before the Teslas came out and hoovered them up. Dorky looking EVs flooring it to cut people off in traffic was intensely confusing.
The resale value of a Leaf is abysmal. On an interesting note I saw someone drive their Tesla to the ski area. The parking lot attendant was really cool about letting him plug in. But it was RWD, no chains, and frankly a terrible vehicle for the conditions. If they ever become popular we're gonna have problems.
RWD isn't inherently bad
Yes. If you have decent tires and aren't stupid about how you drive, you can do well with RWD in snowy or icy conditions. I have a Genesis and in the winter I have Nokian tires. Last year we had some freezing rain come in early in the season. Going up a hill while tying to get home in the icy mess, I passed an Audi with all four wheels spinning.
Umoja, my fraternal brother
The resale value of a Leaf is abysmal.
Really? Huh, of all the electrics it'd probably be the one I'd get, if I were to get an electric.
I think the problem with resale value on the leaf is the battery pack. If you are nearing the end of life on the battery pack, the replacement cost is huge relative to the value of the car. I think it is around 6 or 7 grand. Plus there was no supply at all for quite a while, not sure if that has resolved.
Hence, a very low value proposition for someone looking to buy. Plus, you don't get any tax subsidy, so that knocks off some of the value as well. It looks like there are piles of 2012 leafs available for just under $10k. Similar to a 2012 Mazda 3 hatchback. So it looks like you would pay a small premium for the EV, but then knock of a few grand for the amortized battery pack remaining, coming up with something with a resale value about 20% below par.
