Silk Road Creator Ross Ulbricht: 'Mis-Prosecuted and Misunderstood'
The defense team files an appeal.
Ross Ulbricht was sentenced to life in prison without parole last year for creating and overseeing the online drug bazaar Silk Road. As Brian Doherty noted this week, his defense team just filed an appeal.
Alex Winter is the director of the documentary Deep Web, which provides a detailed look at Silk Road and its creator. (Here's Kurt Loder's review.) Reason TV caught up with Winter last August to discuss, in his words, why "the drug war and cyber [war] are two of the most mis-prosecuted and misunderstood and contentious areas of law that we face in America today."
