Not a Creature Was Stirring …

DeKalb County, Georgia, police responding to a report of a possible burglar outside a house went to the wrong home, entered through an unlocked rear door, immediately shot and killed the homeowner's dog, shot the homeowner when he ran into the room and also shot one of their colleagues in the hip. Police Chief James Conroy said he can't discuss the specifics of the case, but he did say, "We want officers to go out and investigate crimes like this rather than react."

"Are we perfect?" DeKalb director of public safety Cedric Alexander said. "Absolutely not. But when we find a mistake, we own it. We own the fact that we were at the wrong house. We didn't hide it. We didn't mismanage it. We were at the wrong location based on information that was given to us."

Yeah, we should be grateful they didn't fabricate charges against the homeowner they assaulted, I guess. Owning it, however, would require actual consequences to yourself. However, as this incident is three months old and there have been no updates, no officers named, a false report filed, I think we can guess no one with a badge is owning dick.

The policy is four months paid vacation. So far. Until the DA concludes his investigation. The investigation is into how long the DA can stall an investigation before everybody loses interest and he can shitcan the investigation.
