High Crimes in Utopia
"One of the most bizarre homesteading misadventures ever"

Lede of the month:
The Galapagos Islands are best known for their giant tortoises, but they're also the site of one of the most bizarre homesteading misadventures ever, complete with proto-hippies, a polyamorous baroness, potentially poisoned boiled chicken, births in pirate caves, and unsolved deaths that look a lot like murder.
That's Gizmodo's Kate Knibbs writing about what happened after some expats showed up in the Pacific archipelago in 1928 "with a plan to create a utopia for two." For the full tale, go here.

There's your problem, right there.
You had me at "births in pirate caves," =)
I think I once saw a George C. Scott movie along these lines...
If i'm not mistaken, it won an Oscar.
Damn, I guess it's a good reminder that pioneers tend to be a little bit anti-social and a little bit crazy. Also, back to nature is a crock of shit.
I must admit that I have a soft spot for Anarcho-Primitives. I do not agree with them. but they tend to be really nice people.
Gizmodo? What the hell? Is this part of Gawker's reorganization?
Well, that was, uh, amusing.

Why don't they teach such parts of hx in school? This story beats by far the lessons you learn from most hx.
Basically, hx teaches 1 lesson: Everybody dies. The rest is minor details.
I just got paid $6784 working off my laptop this month. And if you think that's cool, my divorced friend has twin toddlers and made over $9k her first month. It feels so good making so much money when other people have to work for so much less. This is what I do,
