Democrats are growing increasingly unhappy about Hillary Clinton's habit of dodging major issues on the campaign trail.
How else do they expect her to get elected?
"habit of dodging major issues"
One of these days one of the major issues will actually hit her and the mess will be ugly.
I saw a video of her recently where someone in the audience asked her if she would sign a bill allowing the Keystone pipeline. Her response "When I am elected president I will answer that question." Responses like that aren't even a dodge.
That's just a straight up "Fuck you. You serfs will vote for me, no matter what. Bwahahahaha."
This is like a recycled version of "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it."
"While you are here, why don't you write me a blank check?"

Bonjour
78) I live near George Mason University and often jog around campus. I can't help but notice that the student body is noticeably less attractive than other university campuses I'm familiar with. Far nerdier, fatter, paler, and softer than the students at Vanderbilt, Sewanee, UNC, NC State, UNCW, and Duke (these are the main other colleges I've spent much time at). Two theories: A) Location? These are the offspring of the nerds of Northern Virginia, with a big influx of northerners from New Jersey and suchlike. If you want good-looking students, you have to head elsewhere. Yet this would seem to be contradicted by the high number of fine-looking young ladies I see in Arlington and DC (though not contradicted by the many dorky guys). B) Time. Most of my college experiences are, naturally, from when I was in college in the mid 1990s. At that time, students had actually gone outside growing up, whereas now all the students spent their childhoods playing video games and wearing bicycle helmets. Yet, again this seems to be contradicted by the many lovely young ladies I see elsewhere in the area. Thoughts?
I don't know. Maybe George Mason is too hard to get into? Maybe no one has heard of it outside its region? Maybe there are too many other schools its competing against? Maybe it doesn't have any division 1 athletics?
It went to the Final Four a few years back.
Creeper.
Maybe the view from the bushes where you're watching the students is slightly obstructed and causing a little phase shift to the light?
You do a lot of observing while running.
Take pictures too?
You'd be amazed at how tough it is to get a clear picture when you're in motion.
I have that problem when I'm 'running' in the bushes, too.
Sure, just ask any dashcam.
I grew up near GMU and took summer classes there and it was decently represented. Not anything like when I was spoiled at JMU but it was okay. Keep in mind it is also still largely a commuter school so you have non-traditional students in terms of age and a number of the student body takes night classes (I think this has changed over the last decade or so but it still has an impact).
And there are like 3 hot girls at any one time on the entire Duke campus.
And they're all shooting porn.
If you think George Mason is bad do not go to Shenandoah University, my buddies went there they used to call girls who were fours anywhere else up there they call them Winchester 7's. I never believed them until I went and never saw a good looking person the entire time I was there.
You guys should put up trigger warnings for ugly people.
Well you have your SEC schools which are just top-flight, then U Texas and California schools (all of them), then the ACC schools in terms of average attractiveness. Its just how things are.
What about Arizona/Arizona St.? they are easily both one seeds.
Yeah, half the PAC-12 is top tier.
The PAC-12 South. The PNW is a black hole for attractiveness.
Things I hate about "jogging" around college campus':
closed blinds, rape whistles, mace, rose bushes, big dogs, honking horns, headlights, floodlights, self-defense classes, small dogs, security guards, police officers, and small dogs.
Not in favor of campus concealed carry policies then?
Best-looking college women I ever saw were at BYU when I visited my best friend there.
Yes.

This. Because if you're not helicoptering, you're criminally neglectful. There's a REASON the kids are playing video games instead of being outside, and it's not because their parents don't care.
They just don't care to have their kids hauled off by first-world-problem SAHMs and assholey old neighbors who just hate kids bicycling on "their" street.
I find the entire DC area to have lower than average attractive people. Hell, on the rare occasional you do find someone good looking, they open their mouth and that evaporates.
*former George Mason Econ graduate who is too pretty for DC... or not*
How fast? How fast?!?!?!!
Too slowly.
Imagine the oil slick that would leave.
Not fast enough, I can still see the top of the Capitol.
How can we accelerate the process?
Free donuts for everyone in DC?
Look, I've only got two hands, pal.
Of course they had to begin the article with this caveat:
Because everyone is taught to assume that 99/100 environmental happenings are due to man made global warming.
I give them some credit for taking climate change off the table from the start. You know that's where a good bit of response would begin.
It's just sad that that's where we are. Any kind of environmental happenings being discussed must be preceded with a caveat about the non-applicability of AGW. It's assumed to be AGW until stated otherwise...
That credit should be revoked for the use of "unchecked" as a qualifier.
Yeah, but by the end of the article they are back to bringing up climate change and warning about how high its going to raise sea levels.
And actually, climate change is to blame here. The change is caused by the land slowly recovering from the last ice age. But everyone knows climate change not caused by humans is a myth, so that's probably just something made up by the bankers and oil companies.
"Geologists say this has nothing to do with unchecked climate change"
It seems if you want to be published these days you have to begin any discussion of science by casting all of your credibility into the shitter.
"Unchecked" climate change. Interesting phrase.
Could mean uncontrolled.
Or, it could mean unconfirmed.

Geologists say Washington DC is gradually sinking into the sea.
It's wetlands. We technically have to let it.
Shouldn't it be restored to its natural state if it is a precious wetlands? I say yes and we move teh capital to Kansas City.
Too many regular people in Kansas City, although the excessive humidity is similar. Move it to Detroit. Revitalize Detroit.
Somewhere in Kansas or Nebraska would be about right, since the original idea was to have it located near the center of the nation.
Moving the capitol to Detroit will do a lot of things to that city, but none of those things could be mistaken for 'revitalize'.
I'd like to see a central location abolished. Make everyone telecommute.
Please, don't move it to KC! We already have enough trouble with local politicians!
When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a capital city on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. And that's what you're going to get, Lad, the strongest capital city in all of America.

National Journal: Joe Biden's Political Moment
For the first time, the vice president looks like a more electable Democrat than Hillary Clinton.
lol, Biden vs Trump is truly the election this country deserves. The turnout would be historic.
and his politically ambitious son died so no need to play nice with the Clintons. he's going for it. what's to lose, eh, Joe?
I think I'd take him over any of the other Democrats running.
Maybe it's brand recognition, maybe it's an abiding hatred for Hillary, but I would too.
If Biden was on the top of any ticket I would have a hard time not voting for him. I mean we're well past the point of no return on scaling back the leviathan why not laugh as the world burns.

The number of people killed by police this year in the United States has reached 664.
Old news, a lion was just killed by a dentist!
666 is my gun locker combo.
Cecil killed more lions than that dentist ever did.
It's ok when lions kill lions...I think?
No, it's super tragic that the new alpha lion is going to kill Cecil's brothers and children. It's all the dentist's fault, not natural selection. Cecil was 13. He likely had several more months left to live!

I don't think I'd relate it to the abortion issue, but you don't have to condone what the guy did to think that the reaction is completely pathetic in how they're anthropomorphizing a damn lion.
I've also noted that 90% of the comments talking about how "this guy should be hunted!" and wishing/threatening various forms of physical harm on him are coming from women. Probably penis envy over the knowledge that the average man can throttle the life out of them with his bare hands.
They should get a Concealed Carry Bow then.
Gotta get those pizza ingredients someplace.
Allow me a little eye rolling at gringo parochialism: The number of killings by police in the US isn't too bad by comparison to other places, such as Brazil, alas. Just in S?o Paulo, during the first quarter of the year, there were 185 killings by police. That would suggest a yearly rate of 740. And in a city of 11 million - or even of the 20 million in the metropolitan area - that would make a killing total in the multiple thousands if scaled up to the metropolitan population of the US.
If anyone cares to check: http://g1.globo.com/sao-paulo/.....estre.html
That is true. The problem is that no matter how few shootings there are, never holding police accountable for them is still not right. Even if we had 10 shootings a year, that would still be an outrage if the police were never held accountable for any of them being unlawful.
The issue is not the numbers. It is the lack of accountability.

"God of All Things"
...In its November 22, 2010 issue, Obama has been shown by Newsweek on its cover page with multiple arms balancing several policy issues while raising his left leg mimicking the cosmic dance of the Hindu deity; considered a manifestation of Lord Shiva.
... Newsweek has named Obama "god of all things" on its cover.
"He has brought us out of the dark and into the light."
...Obama told the estimated crowd of 450 people that her husband is "the kind of president this country deserves. "
Obama closed by asking the crowd three times: "Are you in?"
She responded to her own question by saying: "Because I am so in."
"We have an amazing story to tell," she said. "This president has brought us out of the dark and into the light."...

Releasing anyone from there without Congressional approval is a violation of the law. But that is just a small thing.
Making the executive order is (I think) more to the point than actually seeing the place shuttered. It's like his amnesty proclamation: the speech, the breathless reporters, the shots of jubilant activists, the press victory. If months down the road the thing is brought to a halt by some judge, who's still paying attention?
I am not sure anyone has standing to sue. Who can claim to be harmed by this? Also, since it is outside of the US, I am not sure a US court would even have jurisdiction if there was someone who could claim harm. He will close it down and tell the country fuck you that is why.
judges could release them onto Main Street, USA.
And they could also whip out their dicks and pound on them with their gavels.
If and when the detainees are stateside, judges could release them onto Main Street, USA.
Yeah, well, the whole point of putting it in Gitmo was to skirt the inconvenience of judicial review and uncomfortable Constitutional questions.

Technically, most of them are irregulars or non-uniformed combatants. I think that entitled them to a speedy hanging under international law. Anything beyond that is a matter of scruples and domestic law.

The Gospel According to The Apostle Barack
...Yes, Barack had worked tirelessly on behalf of the American people, especially those who elected him in 2008. His followers needed to re-elect him to a second term, so that he could continue to accomplish the promises he made, thus, realizing his vision of America as a more perfect political union or "heaven here on earth." Then, as I began to contemplate ways to assist Barack in his 2012 re-election bid something miraculous happened. I felt God's (His) Spirit beckoning me in my dreams at night. Listening, cautiously, I learned that Jesus walked the earth to create a more civilized society, Martin (Luther King) walked the earth to create a more justified society, but, Apostle Barack, the name he was called in my dreams, would walk the earth to create a more equalized society, for the middle class and working poor. Apostle Barack, the next young leader with a new cause, had been taken to the mountaintop and allowed to see over the other side. He had the answers to unlock the kingdom of "heaven here on earth" for his followers. ...
So, If New testament Jesus brought the sword, Prophet Barack brings the drone?

"God sent us Barack Obama"
....Standing at the pulpit, he first invoked God and then Barack Obama, portraying himself as the president's apostle, put on Earth to protect Harlem and his president from those awful white Southern Republicans.
"They hate the president," he told the Antioch faithful, a message he had repeat at five other church drop-ins on that sunny summer Sunday. "God sent us Barack Obama," he told a congregation in 116th St. half an hour later, before heading up to West 153rd St. "These people carry hate in their heart ? all of them come from states that used to hold Africans as slaves," he told a packed house at the Bethany Baptist Church under a stained-glass window of Christ in prayer. "All of them hated Abe Lincoln! All of them really think that the Civil War is not over!"...
If true, that would be proof that God hates us.
Obama = Nimrod, King of Shinar?
Wasn't Nimrod a hunter? That doesn't sound very Obama-like....
true. Reaching for a link to God smacking down Man re: he hates us. Poorly played on my part.
God must certainly hate black people if he gave us Barack since at least materially they have suffered more under Obama than under Bush.
Nah, he just likes to fuck with us.
I would think that by the same reasoning you would also have to conclude that God sent us white Southern Republicans too.
Just imagine the butt hurt and gnashing of teeth from these people if the Republicans win in 2016 and Obama leaves them in the political wilderness. "God sent us Obama and then took him from us before we could reach the promise land. We were just not good enough for him".

"The presence of the Divine"
...Rabbi David Saperstein, reading from Psalms in English and Hebrew, noticed from the altar that the good men and women of the congregation that day, including the Bidens and other dignitaries, had not yet stood. Finally Bishop Vashti McKenzie of the African Methodist Church asked that everyone rise. At that moment Saperstein saw something from his angle of vision: "If I had seen it in a movie I would have groaned and said, 'Give me a break. That's so trite.'" A beam of morning light shown [sic] through the stained-glass windows and illuminated the president-elect's face. Several of the clergy and choir on the altar who also saw it marveled afterward about the presence of the Divine....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Iran backed militias currently control half of Yemen (which has drown the Saudis into the conflict) and are carrying out ethnic cleansing in Iraq against Sunnis.
Don't forget Lebanon and "Palestine" and the Iranian support for rebel groups in Syria too. They're poised to topple half a dozen neighboring governments.
So outright hostilities have mostly been down-low hostilities, the deal secured no agreement from Iran to knock that off, but guarantees they'll have a bomb within the decade.
With luminaries like this it's little wonder Dems are having a tough time selling the thing.
The nature of the pact is almost exactly like the agreement with Iraq that led to the invasion of Iraq.
1. Let us in, without warning, to inspect for nuclear development.
2. Hey! You guys aren't being honest. We think you're hiding shit!
3. Invade.
The difference being that the authorization for invasion of Iraq for noncompliance was tacitly granted in Authorization 1441. I doubt very much that this pact has any comparable language authorizing intervention unless a Security Council convenes and there is a unanimous vote in favor.
There ain't gonna be a unanimous vote in favor. Ever. And that's a feature, not a bug.

Sorry, coal definitely isn't "good for humanity"
"coal, which causes dangerous air pollution"
And yet for the people in these countries, electricity from a distant power plant is far healthier than burning wood, dung, or even propane in their own residences.
Yeah because "linking" it to deaths is exactly the same as establishing causality with any scientific certainty. Moreover, those plants operate with no pollution control whatsoever. The coal plants in the developed world have pollution control and emit virtually nothing except Co2 and ash that is buried in the ground.
Saying coal is bad for humanity because places like China operate coal plants with no emission controls is like saying sewage systems are bad for humanity because Rio doesn't have a sewage treatment plant.
An particle emissions are much worse from the traditional energy sources like wood or kerosene, so it's not as if the choice is between excessive particle emissions and nothing.
That too. These people seem to be unable to comprehend that sometimes a bad option is still the best available.
They'd be gamboling across the lush plains of sub-Saharan Africa, living in harmony with nature and neither taking too much nor leaving too much behind. Instead they're stuck with coal-fired electricity and a gradually modernizing lifestyle.
These people are nuts.
Their irrational idiocy leads to deaths.
Hasn't the coal industry become cleaner and more efficient over time through technology?
Yes but you're ignoring Teh Feelz.
Clearly, these impoverished people will understand that we need to prolong their suffering so that it's not slightly hotter in 100 years. I know this because Hillary flew her private jet to an event to tell everyone
Coal is bad compared to other power sources, but the reason poor countries use coal is because they don't have access to cleaner power sources. So it isn't 'coal or clean energy' it's 'coal or no energy.'
Coal or dung-fueled pits.
That damn coal! Powering our steam engines and power plants during the industrial revolution that makes all of modern technology possible! People would be so much better off if we spent an extra couple generations scraping in the dirt and dying of diseases that nowadays exist only in Ron Bailey's wet dreams.

Of course everything must be banned if you're a Democrat.
That being said, you're a retard with a death wish if you think carrying a fake gun in your pocket is a good idea.
Actually, quite a few issues of self-defense are effected without ever discharging the gun. Even an unloaded gun can be effective for defusing a situation, as just the sight of it deters most attackers.
That being said, I don't recommend it.

Media outlets, particularly conservative ones, had a field day this week analyzing Jon Stewart's alleged "secret" White House meetings with President Barack Obama. It's even been suggested that Stewart has been working "in concert" with the president, casting the comedian's integrity into question.
On Wednesday's "The Daily Show," Stewart addressed the controversy head-on, and insisted that the conspiracy "sounds so much more awesome" than what actually happened.
"Something is not a secret just because you don't know about it," Stewart said, pointing out that his visits were documented in the public White House log. "If the president tells you to [meet him] and you don't, who the fuck knows what would happen?"
Stewart went on to reveal that he's actually been "summoned" over the years by a "surprisingly wide variety" of famous and powerful people, from "tech giants to financial captains to Billy Joel." But just like his meetings with the president, these encounters have not been sinister.
"The general thrust of all of those meetings or phone conversations are the same," said Stewart. "Basically it's this: 'Jon, why are you such an asshole?'"
The question should be "Jon, why are you such a pussy that you can be "summoned" by people?"
Something is not a secret just because you don't know about it," Stewart said, pointing out that his visits were documented in the public White House log. "If the president tells you to [meet him] and you don't, who the fuck knows what would happen?"
He wouldn't invite you again? Did Stewart just admit that Obama is a thin skinned tyranical asshole who is not above using the power of government to go after people who offend him? Who does Stewart think Obama is? Stalin?
Stewart went on to reveal that he's actually been "summoned" over the years by a "surprisingly wide variety" of famous and powerful people, from "tech giants to financial captains to Billy Joel." But just like his meetings with the president, these encounters have not been sinister.
Sure but his meeting with someone that he just admitted he was afraid to say no to in no way caused him to go easy on the President.
Yes. I'm sure that was the 'general thrust'.
/rolls eyes.
"If the president tells you to [meet him] and you don't, who the fuck knows what would happen?"
Stewart's audience liked this joke. Is it too much to hope that they laughed because the joke's kernel of truth is that modern presidents often engage in illegal and immoral acts?
Christ that's depressing.
He missed an opportunity to throw in some gentle deprecation with a drone joke.
Perhaps part of the problem is that anyone thinks he has, or should have, integrity.
I like Stewart (or used to anyway). But not because i thought he had integrity, but because he was funny.
re: Something is not a secret just because you don't know about it,"
This was The New Yorker's standard for declaring the Koch brothers' political spending as secret.
Stewart undoubtably finds the idea that people thought he had integrity hiliarious.
Piers Morgan: I'd love to hunt with Walter Palmer so I can stuff and mount him
Isn't he the asshole who's pining for UK laws while working in the US and deriding gun ownership?
What would Piers hunt him with, a rounded knife?
One of these?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btu24_H65-0
Piers went to a public school (== 'private school' if you're American), and hence would know all about those kind of shenanigans.
And I would pay to see it - because Morgan would die.
Not a fan of trophy hunters, but isn't Piers Morgan infamous for claiming that Americans were homicidal lunatics obsessed with guns and murder? Project much?
Piers Morgan...tufgai...not
Would this be the same Piers Morgan constantly calling for gun control and a more civil political discourse?
But enough of Piers Morgan's vivid sexual fantasies
I'd like to mount Piers Morgan....
Ewww.
No! You misunderstood. I'd like to mount Piers Morgan in my kitchen.
Still ew.
You guys are disgusting.
I am simply stating that I would like to mount Piers Morgan up against a wall in my kitchen.
This really isn't getting any better. What you and Piers Morgan do in your kitchen is between you and him.
If Piers Morgan didn't exist, social media would have to invent him.

Will AM Links even break 300 comments today?
Nitpick: Aqua Buddha is not a name for Rand Paul. Aqua Buddha is a false idol he used to worship.
I believe Rand Paul is an avatar of Aqua Buddha.
Aqua Buddha is a false idol he used to worship.
Assuming that you're being serious, I don't think you know what the word "worship" means.
Hint: I wasn't being serious. I just wanted to accuse Rand Paul of idolatry.
And I can't believe nobody called me out on conflating "false god" and idol into "false idol".

Michael Bay is making a movie about the guys who fought to the death at Bengazi. It is coming out January 2016. Is Hollywood out to get Hillary?
I wonder how many times "Fake Scandal!" will feature in the film.
Ugh, over and under on the amount of 360 degree pans of Hillary on her blackberry.
Michael Bay. hmm. Ima guess he saw how much money American Sniper made and is chasing the 'Cinema Patriotique' payoff.
"You're best? Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and fuck the prom queen."
I wonder if there will be any explosions in the film...
Yes
At my school they always elected the retarded kids to be prom king and queen. It was originally meant to be a selfless honor, but I have to imagine that year after year of giving the crown to mentally disabled people necessarily turns it into a contest where the winners are the King and Queen of the Retards.
So uh, the winner doesn't always fuck the prom queen...
January is well-known in Hollywood as the month where studios dump their shittiest movies that they need to get rid of because it's immediately after the holidays and the award season, where people are least likely to go to the movies.
It's an unusual place to put a Michael Bay action movie since he's a bankable director with this sort of thing.
Assuming it is a war movie showing brave Americans fighting the enemy and incompetent panty waste bureaucrats at State, it will make an enormous amount of money. Why release it in December when you know it is going to become the latest culture war cause de jour and is guaranteed to make bank? Save the December slots for movies that need it and use the usual dog January slot for a movie that is going to make huge cash no matter what.
That depends on how the content is spun.
Michael Bay has always been a very pro-military guy, so even if there isn't a scene in the film where Obama or Hillary pick up a phone and say "don't send them help" and then sigh dramatically as they turn around to pour a tall glass of peppermint schnapps, there will be a lot of action, a few too many "hero" shots, and those two SEALS who died will be remembered fondly as total badasses.
I know the CV of one of them - he was. My guess is the other one was, too.
This right here is why Citizens United needs to be overturned.

Is Hollywood out to get Hillary?
One can only hope.
...and if the progtards get their way, such a movie would be illegal.

They died so that we could enjoy shitty youtube videos. They will not be forgotten.
Amazon signs "Top Gear" team for new show.
Amazon. Interesing. I thought it was netflicks.
Netflix was in the running but they may have a crap-ton more off balance sheet liabilities than AMZN in the content department and decided to pass, as it may not have added enough subscribers to justify.
Amazon seems to be taking over the world these days. This is a huge coup. It is one thing to have some niche b movie women in prison b movie porn show like Orange is the New Black. It is quite another to nab the team that produced one of the most popular and profitable franchises in the world. Them going to Amazon rather than a TV or cable network I think shows a systemic change in entertainment. The people who say the networks and the cable companies are going to go the way of video rental stores are likely right and this shows it.
I am very glad I have Amazon Prime right now.
Amazon Prime is one of the few sunlit spots in the otherwise barren existence that is my life.... How sad is that?
Netflix has the Marvel shows, John, the first of which was pretty good. Marvel is pretty popular, so it is not like Netflix is going to be hurting any time soon.
That just shows how TV is dying and going to the internet. And those shows are not Top Gear. Top Gear grosses in the hundreds of millions of dollars every year.
It is going to be less than that now just because fewer people have access to Amazon. That being said, Amazon, Netflix, Hulu and HBO whenever they develop an app to directly compete with those three.
A lot of people will now get Amazon prime just to watch that show. I was planning on getting Netflix had they gone there. Their audience won't shrink, Amazon's subscriber base will grow.
I've got both, so I'm quite happy.
Awesome.
For sure. What a great move by Amazon.
That's great. Top Gear is the shit. Fuck off BBC.
Despite my anglophilia knowing few bounds, I have never been much of "Top Gear" fan.
This is most certainly because I am not a "car person" (I am not anti-auto or anything, I am just not excited or interested in cars)
But there is something slightly off-putting in Jeremy Clarkson' s blimpish anti-americanism.
Would his outrageous behavior towards the staff of his series be brushed off if he were a standard BBC leftie rather than a curmudgeonly Tory?
Jeremy Clarkson' s blimpish anti-americanism
In this regard, I don't think he discriminates against other nationalities. The episode when they are driving around NASCAR country, complete with shooting pistols from the passenger side of the exotic cars they were driving, was not decidedly anti-american, while the episode where they drive across the deep south with pro-gay and anti-NASCAR and country music slogans painted on their cars certainly was.
Also, he know his audience. Everyone hates Americans and loves to make fun of them. Just my view.
And he is an unapologetic British nationalist. He makes fun of every other country. They bust on Australia and France and Germany just as much as they do the US.
That is my least favorite thing about Clarkson. His "Americans are fat and stupid" crap is a bit cringe-inducing. But he makes up for it in lots of other ways. And knows he is full of shit. He is an entertainer before anything else and being somewhat of an obnoxious blowhard is a big part of the act. It's rare to find 3 talented and entertaining British guys who aren't all wussy and PC all the time.
I'm actually not a huge car person, but Top Gear has made me more of one. I find it just to be a really well made and entertaining show.
Hey! WTF am I, chopped liver?
We inch closer to President Camacho.
The war of words between businessman Donald Trump and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry reached the jungle gym on Wednesday, when Perry challenged Trump to a pull-up contest.
"Let's get a pull-up bar out there and let's see who can do the most pull-ups," said Perry, once an Air Force captain, when asked by a reporter if he had any message for Trump.
Actually, I'd prefer President Camacho.

50 million?!?! You are LOWBALLIN', Rufus. (And you may be freeballin', I don't know...)
Do black people die in Zimbabwe?
Well they already expropriated, murdered and chased away most of their white population so I can only assume that Zimbabweans are just now able to live long prosperous lives that finally matter.

Nothing brings people together better than white genocide. Even self-loathing whites are on board.
I hope you have toilet paper handy, because shit's about to get real.
On July 17th, 2015, most Americans were outraged when Dylann Roof massacred Black parishioners inside an African Methodist Episcopal Church. Shortly after, pictures of Roof with Rhodesian flags, as well as his former blog "The Last Rhodesian" were uncovered.
Rhodesia. The former British colony established by Cecil Rhodes and was named in honor of him. Rhodesia explicitly followed Rhodes's ideology of Anglo-Saxon supremacy that eventually led to a rebellion by its African majority establishing Zimbabwe.
A few days ago, a Dr. Palmer traveled to Zimbabwe and poached a Zimbabwean lion named "Cecil". Coincidence? or occult Illuminati ritual to avenge the victims of Roof's shooting. Let's look at the evidence.
Dylann Roof has 10 letters. Zimbabwe has 8 letters. Palmer has 6 letters. Added together this is 24. 24 divided by 8, (the number of letters in Zimbabwe) is 3.
A triangle has 3 sides.
Cecil the lion is Illuminati confirmed.

I think conservatives are being pricks about the Lion thing. The lion thing is appalling. I am not anti-hunting. But to go "big game hunting" and then shoot a lion that is beloved and known not to fear humans is just not cricket. And why on earth are people going to Africa shooting lions in the first place? I don't think there is a lion overpopulation problem. Hunting has its place but not here. I don't think the guy should be killed or anything but he deserves to be called out as a total asshole and subjected to public shaming.
Like I said below, he broke the law and needs to be punished because people like him ruin it for everyone.
With regard to big game hunting, it's not something I would do but when all the rules are followed a lot of money is raised for the upkeep of the preserves, the local Africans make money as well, and the populations are culled.
It actually is necessary to cull lions and other predators because too many of them would threaten the population of antelopes and zebras.
Meh, I could really care less about the death of something that wouldn't give a single fuck about using my bones as a tooth pick. I know that this isn't the popular sentiment any more, but I really could care less about the plight of animals.
The Grand Canyon wouldn't give a shit if I fell off of one of its cliffs and died. Yet, I would be very upset if they strip mined it. Since when is it wrong to care about nature? The Lion was a magnificent animal and a life. Him killing it for no good reason is a shame.
I never said I wasn't an asshole, I personally just am not particularly bothered by how/what animals die and who kills them.
I caught some shit for posting this before, but... A few years ago at a famous sushi restaurant in Tokyo, a German and French tourist sat down next to me at the bar. In English they were bitching about Japanese eating whale meat and how could they kill such maginificent creatures. In Japanese I ordered some sushi and nodded my head to the cook to say it's for them. They ate it and thanked me. I nodded back and said nothing. On my way out the door, I turned around, looked at them at said, "whale". This was a sushi bar famed for its whale sushi.
*starts the slow clap for everyone else*
How upset would you be if they strip mined it? In what context? What are they extracting, and what is is social utility? Are you prepared to cooperate with like-minded individuals to outbid the mining company that wants to exploit the mineral deposits, so they have to go and strip mine a less photogenic locale?
The Dentist had what he thought was a 'good reason'. Why is your 'good reason' to maintain it's existence more deserving? What if the fee that the Dentist paid actually does contribute to a breeding program that successfully increases breeding populations in lions in the area.
One difference is - I guess - that while the Grand Canyon's mineral wealth is a resource that, once exploited, is irreplaceable and an elderly lion is a renewable resource.
I am fine with hunting, but what this guy did, baiting a lion with no fear of humans off of a preserve and then taking a bad shot with a bow that resulted in 40 hours of suffering before being killed with a rifle, is neither ethical or sporting. So fuck him, he's a cunt.
I didn't even know the bow part. That is disgusting. If you are not good enough with a bow to make a clean humane shot, use a fucking rifle or go home. That is disgusting. Fuck that cunt is right. I hope someone does shoot is worthless ass.
I am down with WTF on this. This dude is straight out of a Wolverine comic - shooting an animal with an arrow and not killing it clean. FORTY FUCKING HOURS?!?! That guy should be constitutionally BARRED from calling himself a "hunter".
I agree that the guy is a dick, but the social media outrage mob has gotten out of control.
He claims he thought it was a legal hunt. It's not like he paid $10K. He paid $50K+ to a pro hunter. That he took a bad shot and the lion suffered for 40 hours pisses me off. That he probably knew it was illegal after he saw the collar and just wanted to GTFO Zimbabwe is going to be a problem for him.
The focus should be on real solutions to a dwindling population: setting up profitable preserves where the lions are really protected and flourish. How do you do that? Private ownership and profit motive.
The feelz crowd will accomplish nothing other than fucking up some dude's life and probably getting more lions killed by protesting private hunting preserves and preventing wealthy American big game hunters from importing their trophies.
^This. Nothing signals how much you care than by uncontrolled emotional outbursts and a victim hoist on a stake.
I understand that hunting can often save endangered creatures by making them valuable. And yes the professional hunter is a scam artist. That being said, he should have known better.
I don't support killing him but he deserves to be shamed. And it is unclear that lions are to the point that hunting them is necessary or anything but counter productive.

The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid.
I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.

Ape shall not kill ape.
I've always hated that term. Can't we come up with a different term for asymmetrical warfare, like perhaps "asymmetrical warfare"?
I think it's from the Spanish "guerra," meaning "war."
Yeah it means "little war". But it's not a terribly apt description. You can have a "little" conventional war, but of course that's not how we use the term.
I am pretty sure if he had actually been abandoned in Afghanistan there would be a video on youtube of him being beheaded by now.
I also can't imagine them giving a fuck that he was gay assuming he did his job and didn't whine about it or throw it in anyone's face. My guess is they harassed him about being gay because he was annoying and a pain in the ass and his being gay was the easiest way to harass him. Being gay doesn't excuse you from having to fit in and not be a pain in the ass.
I assume they gave him shit because everybody gives everyone shit. I was called "Stealth" for 3 months after stumbling down some stairs. The fucking pricks were the best friends I ever had. Gay Gay is fucking hilarious.
That is a good point. They only give you shit because they like you and consider you part of the group. If they don't give you shit, it is because they don't like you or trust you. I was the lawyer for God's sake. I got shit all of the time. Some of my fellow lawyers never did and that was not a good thing.
Most of the shit I got was "gee you don't sweet much for a fat chick" kind of back handed compliments about how amazing it was there was a lawyer who wasn't a prick and almost seemed normal.
Anyone who has had any sort of normal interaction with human males, aged 0 to 99, working together as part of a group larger than 3 knows this to be true.
True dat.
You can tell how much other men like you by the amount of shit they give you. Its a sign of respect.
If I hear a SEAL Team hung the nick "Gay Gay" on one of their members, I'm going to assume he is the king badass, of a band of serious badasses.
Not saying he wasn't discriminated against, but keep in mind he's promoting his book, of course.
There are a lot of SEALs writing books. I doubt there are any other "I was harassed because I was gay" books.
Referring more to the book than the complaint, for a secret organization those SEAL's sure do love attention.

Seriously, when the Frederick Motherfucking Douglass of lions comes up to me and drops some "Am I not a man lion and a brother?" shit on me, I'll reconsider my position that they have no rights beyond what humanity is willing to grant them.
As it is, Palmer broke the laws of Zimbabwe and the rules of a fair hunt, he should pay for that. But the overreaction shows just how out of whack peoples' priorities are.
I think that was explored in a novel by, who was it again? Borewell? Doorsmell? Help me out here...

David Frum: The Problem With Downplaying Immigrant Crime
Donald Trump has gained political traction by demagoguing on an issue more responsible leaders have neglected.
If David Frum was a liberal, he'd be Salon's star writer. He'd probably be a liberal if they paid him enough.
Frum is right. Immigrant crime is real. Lying about something never works out in the long run. People know it exists and they are concerned about it. Telling those people not to believe their lying eyes and calling them racists just leaves room for real racists to step in and capitalize on being the only ones willing to address people's concerns.
Similarly, the parties in Europe downplaying the issues with mass immigration from the Middle East and North Africa has basically led directly to the rise of UKIP, the National Front, Finns, the Swedish Democrats, etc.
On the bright side, there is one European far right group that likes the immigrants - the literally fascist Jobbik in Hungary, which sees Muslim anti-Semitism as a potentially useful tool that they can use to destroy Jews and undermine liberalism.
So at least the actual Nazis are happy.
The rise in *popularity* of the UKIP, maybe.
UKIP's origins are largely due to opposition of adoption of the Euro as the UK's currency. To the extent that they're now a "nativist" party is due to penumbras and emanations arising from that core principle of opposition to currency union, which of course is going to attract interest from nationalists of all stripes.
Britain's real Nazis - the National Front, have been duking it out with the BNP for support, and really, it's like watching two bald (but increasingly muscular and belligerant) guys fighting over a can of pomade.
UKIP has existed for 20 years and has been opposed to Euro-integration the whole time, but their popularity only exploded once British people started getting fearful of issues with immigration. The EU opposition also deals with the fact of immigration, since they see integration with EU countries as being part of the cause of their massive migration.
They've explicitly said part of the reason they want out of any EU integration is to 'take back control of our borders.' I never said UKIP was outright nativist or racist or in any sense Nazis, just that they've taken votes from the major parties because they're the only people willing to discuss immigration.
Yet this claim, while literally true, is much less reassuring than the claimants imagine
In other words "You're right, but let me engage in hysterics anyway"
The problem with that argument though is that they lump all immigrants together. So the nonexistent crime caused by wealthy immigrants from East Asia and Europe drags down the overall crime rate, even though the immigrants that people are potentially worried about are the immigrants from Central America.
The other issue is that native born crime stats are highly skewed by the fact that African Americans have massive crime rates that drag up the overall numbers substantially. So although immigrants cause fewer crimes than native born people, they cause more crime than every group other than African Americans.
That's not to say I oppose immigration, it's just to point out two issues with the statistic. I also think unfettered immigration has a negative impact on things like the welfare state and that it damages the nation financially, but that's a different issue.
"Democrats are growing increasingly unhappy about Hillary Clinton's habit of dodging major issues on the campaign trail."
They've had more than 20 years to be unhappy about Hillary Clinton's habit of engaging in criminal activity--but they still aren't willing to do anything about it.
I don't know why. Holding people responsible for the crimes they willingly committed isn't so bad. It's a big part of what justice is about.
Why not send Hillary to the same prison where they sent Martha Stewart? She could get a job mopping floors in prison, just like Martha Stewart did, and that way she could earn money to buy potato chips and breath mints at the prison commissary.
Rather see her tossin salads in the cafeteria.
Yeah, they act surprised she is a craven empty suit trying to ride out the clock and win by default. That is who she is. She was exactly the same way in 2008. She just didn't get away with it because everyone decide they just had to vote for a black man for President.
The idea that she would go unchallenged and that there would be a "coronation" was laughable on its face (as I've been saying for years). No one with even a longshot chance at becoming president is going to sit back and give it to someone else. You don't get that high in politics without being a power-hungry narcissist.
Hillary won't get the nomination. Smart money says Biden, though I'm not ready to count O'Malley out.
While there is general unease about Secretary Clinton, there is definite excitement amongst a segment of the Democratic electorate for her (first woman, and all that)
(and #Berniemania discounted)
This should be enough to get her through to the nomination.
Then given the structural factors in her favor (the press, academia, "big money") that should be enough, no?
I bet Martha Stewart made the classiest toilet wine ever
I love Martha. She got totally fucked by the justice department and was sent to jail even though she was innocent of the real crime they accused her of. And even that, insider trading, shouldn't be a crime. Yet, even national humiliation and a year in prison didn't break her and she still ended up on top. That is one tough broad. You really have to respect her.
Agreed. The laws she was convicted under were total bull, but she hasn't let it bring her down.
The number of people killed by police this year in the United States has reached 664.
And contrary to what the lowlife scum in the "mainstream" media would have everyone believe, they're not all black either. In fact, almost half of them are white! And isn't it a little weird how we pretty much never hear any of their names?
Yes. And thanks to said lowlife scum the cause of police reform has been set back years. The media portraying it as a black white thing has done nothing but cause a lot of people to assume outrage over police shootings is just the latest manufactured race mongering bullshit instead of the real problem it is.
I would love for Americans to be randomly polled and asked this question: "Can you name one white person who has been killed by police this year?"
I'm guessing that 99% of the population couldn't name even one. And perhaps not even the majority of people who post here at Reason either.
No kidding. And police treat poor white people like shit too. I hate it that the issue is portrayed as a black thing as if only black people have any concerns about being abused by the cops.

There's a persuasive line of reasoning that suggests women who are physically unattractive are more likely to have progressive politics, give up on blokes and retreat into feminism in the first place. (The rule doesn't hold for men.) Even liberal bloggers like West admit that conservative girls are hotter, and, crucially, that liberal women tend to have more masculine features. Although "wobbly and horrible" is probably my favorite description of Ms. Dunham. Besides vacuous uncouth slattern.
Like the contrast between New Zealand-model proponent ENB and her critics on the Nordic-model side that are homely man-haters.
Hillview man arrested for shooting down drone; cites right to privacy:
FUCK YEAH.
I love this country.
"Four guys came over to confront me about it, and I happened to be armed, so that changed their minds," Merideth said.
"They asked me, 'Are you the S-O-B that shot my drone?' and I said, 'Yes I am,'" he said. "I had my 40 mm Glock on me and they started toward me and I told them, 'If you cross my sidewalk, there's gonna be another shooting.'"
A short time later, Merideth said the police arrived.
...
"They didn't confiscate the drone. They gave the drone back to the individuals," he said. "They didn't take the SIM card out of it?but we've got?five houses here that everyone saw it ? they saw what happened, including the neighbors that were sitting in their patio when he flew down low enough to see under the patio."
40mm Glock? Bofors will be pissed to hear this?
Under common law, don't you own the airspace above your property?
Now, owning it up to infinity isn't going to work in the age of airplanes and sattellites, but it seems reasonable that you get to control above your property to a reasonable altitude. Seems like something that will need to be settled with the proliferation of drones.
As I mentioned in an another thread, my understanding is that you have 500 feet of air rights. Even before powered flight, I would assume issues of shooting someone's hunting falcon from the sky would have popped up in medieval torts.
Hard to argue with him. The arguments cited by the judge and cops are appalling. Why is discharging a firearm a public disturbance, but hovering your drone over someone's house, when he's got little girls playing in his yard, not a problem?
No kidding. I think hovering a drone and spying on people is the kind of thing that is likely to get one shot or beaten up by an angry father or husband. We have laws against "public disturbances" to prevent people from doing things that are likely to cause conflict. What a joke.
If it is over your property, you should be able to shoot it down. We are not talking about a right of transit. Sure, you shouldn't be able to shoot down airplanes that fly over head. And we are not talking about endangering lives. We are talking about a machine that is over your property specifically for the purpose of spying on you. That is not the same thing as an aircraft using the air space above your property. So even though you don't technically own the airspace above your property, for this purpose you do and you should be able to shoot it down.
I've been tempted to have a Craigslist type disclaimer printed on a large board that I can just throw on my lawn should the need arise.
No, you do not have my permission to surveil me
I do not give you permission to photograph me, my family or my property.
Failure to comply may result in damage to your drone.
Sound advice for anyone who is a wedding planner in Afghanistan, I suppose.
I don' t think that would keep them from putting a hellfire through your front door if you had the wrong party guests.
True.
I fear the day a bunch of hipster douches actually rig offensive weapons on a cheapass Makerbot drone.
Trigger Warning: Infowars
Certainly hasn't already happened
Well, that's the point I build the kids some metal storm devices.
This sort of thing is only going to get worse. Right now you can by a drone at COSCO that has a 175 foot range and a hi def camera for less than $300. The military has drones that are the size of large insects. In a few years those things will be cheaply available. It is a peeping tom's dream.

They're working on them being the size of small insects:

Awesome
Democrats are growing increasingly unhappy about Hillary Clinton's habit of dodging major issues on the campaign trail.
By 'unhappy' they mean, more willing than ever to vote for her?
