Watch: Cops and Locals Clash in Baltimore
A school walkout is followed by anti-police riots.
More violence broke out in Baltimore today. The details are very vague, but apparently there was a school walkout, with a plan to march from Mondawmin Mall. Cops arrived in riot gear, and at some point kids started throwing rocks and bricks at the police. Things took off from there, and the rioting appears to be both more widespread and more intense than on Saturday. WJZ has a live feed here:
Many businesses have shut down early, and one library has reportedly locked its patrons inside. There are a lot of rumors floating around, and I'd be very wary of believing everything you hear—reskinned urban legends tend to surface during riots, so keep your BS detectors on.

If only Obama could be elected to end America's odious racial discourse.
What does Obama have to do with a local police beating death?
Think Rodney King - if you can think at all.
Sulkowicz's Buttplug
"White greed leave's a world in need."
Nothing. That's the point. His administration did nothing to abate the atmosphere of racial paranoia tinging everything. Remember how his candidacy sold dewy-eyed supporters on the promise of racial conciliation? How has that worked out? Forget King, do you remember Martin? Remember Obama's now-infamous "if I had a son" remark? And yet in terms of effecting actual reforms?ignoring the racialist agenda and focusing on mitigating the violent interface between cops and blacks vis-a-vis the drug war?his administration has been as disappointing as the rest.
I remember his "If I had a son", quickly parodied like as "if I had a city, it would look like Detroit." https://texaslynn.wordpress.com/2013/07/23/
They told me that if I voted for Mitt Romney then white cops would kill unarmed black kids and provoke black riots in America's major cities. Now look what happened!
Full Disclosure: I didn't vote for Mitt Romney.
I have a horrible confession to make then.
You didn't vote either?
redskinned urban legends tend to surface during riots
So racist I can't even
I didn't notice that. Did Walker just correct that?
Nah, I'm being a prat. Although "urban" legends, Walker? URBAN? Racist!
Nah, I'm being a prat.
And you had me going for a second, damn you.
?typo-prone writer
No, no, no. That's "reskinned". Like what Progressives are= reskinned communists.
Not communists. Fascists.
I feel like they pick attributes from both columns pretty liberally. They're authoritarian multiclasser.
New from Steve Jackson Games: Munchkin Political Party
I think of communism as being specifically about direct state ownership and control of industry. I think the American left has mostly abandoned that idea. Don't want to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. Or some other appropriate metaphor.
Maybe. I think a good many on the left would pull the lever in favor of nationalizing healthcare or banking.
Healthcare, yeah. Banking won't happen. Too many bankers support Democrats.
I caught part of an old Adam West Batman show the other day. They had Chief Screamung Eagle on who was an oks white guy dressed in feathers. Batman told him he has been tricked, he replies "My face is so red". Not today.
Obviously, we need to have a discussion about race in this country. We haven't had enough of those.
And by discussion about race, I mean whites need to shut the fuck up and hear how it is.
You can talk as long as your busy apologizing for being white. To which I say blow me.
You need to do something about your Melissa Harris-Perry fetish.
What if the attraction is only physical?
What if Stan Lee created Superman?
What if Stan Lee was attracted to the Utopia Melissa Harris-Perry believes is possible (if only we were all made in/learned to "evolve" into "that" image)?
What if Judge "Nap" influenced the way we type on these threads?
But honestly, HM., in my opinion you rarely fail to surprise and/or challenge.
An actual, honest discussion would probably be a good thing. But apparently most people aren't ready or willing to have such a discussion.
How about we stop talking and start doing business?
Even better.
It would be nice to be able to have a rational discussion about this sort of thing. Not the "national conversation" kind, that's not really possible, but to actually apply some nuance without having people assume you are using racist codes or something.
"I want to be rich. And you want to be rich. Come, let us be rich together."
"But you have more than me. That's offensive. We need some men with guns to even things out."
Maybe better if we stopped thinking that a "post-racial society" is possible without ethnic cleanses, and that bigotry is a fundamental trait of humanity exacerbated by coerced association. Race is an utterly unimportant distinction in the grand scheme until it's used as a political wedge, at which point it becomes inescapable.
That's sort of the conversation I'd like to have with many people. At this point harping on every bit of perceived racism is not helpful.
You know what? Jim Crow is a fascinating study in how institutional bigotry can exile a class of people to the fringes of society and how federal law, with the full understanding that racial animus remained untouchable by political means alone, abolished the legal customs underpinning it. And I've heard more lucid arguments in favor of federal intervention from conservative authors like Charles Cook. From the left, we hear insipid comparisons between gays and Jim Crow because bakeries. If there's one group willing to have an earnest discussion on race relations, it's not the left.
You talk until you're blue in the face, but you'll always have some people who are still going to be bigoted towards other groups of people. As long as those bigots are prevented from using force (governmental or otherwise) against their disfavored group, what is there to talk about?
Because well-meaning social liberals think exposure therapy is a plausible treatment for racism.
Listen, if it doesn't work for mustard....
I like talking about things.
I agree that completely eliminating bigotry is not a realistic goal. While I would like to convince everyone that racism and bigotry are terrible and they should stop, I'm more interested at this point in convincing the people that want to make everything about race that that is counterproductive.
An actual honest discussion would involve dredging up all of the inconvenient facts about black culture and society. It might even involve certain groups bearing certain levels of responsibility for certain endemic problems. That's not going to happen. But they're perfectly willing to have a "discussion" that is really just whites being lectured about how much they suck.
The other kind of discussion just isn't any fun!

Why bother?
Conservatives will blame lack of school prayer and the family breakdown and progressives will want more social programs.
Two losers.
It's funny. In the third-world escaping poverty tracks well with educating women and offering birth control. Fewer births, more time spent outside the home in a productive capacity, fewer mouths to feed, more disposable income. In the U.S., we compensate poor women for having babies and encourage fatherless households.
But no, "family breakdown" isn't the issue. It's just a conservatives narrative.
"Intellectuals give people who have the handicap of poverty the further handicap of a sense of victimhood" - Thomas Sowell
If you search around on Youtube, you can find the entire audiobook version of Black Rednecks and White Liberals in drabs and dribbles.
I'm beginning to wonder if they might be starting to act in a counterproductive manner.
Depends on what they want to produce.
And do you mean the police or the protestors?
Some of the protestors, not the police. Although, the same could be said, I suppose...
I only hope these riots will result in libertopias like in Detroit and Northern Ireland
Can't talk right now. Looting.
Oooh, I hope you get some good stuff.
Any requests? Shelves are getting picked through.
Well, let's see. . .how about some crab cakes? Can you have things shipped during a riot? Oh, of course you can, Amazon never sleeps.
"Returns department? I looted this jacket during the riot and I just noticed it has some fire damage."
"and it's not really in my size, either..."
Customer service is about making customers happy, not quibbling about who stole from who.
"...stole from whom."
Did you go to school in Baltimore City?
*Poly exempt from gross generalization.
I actually chose not to use whom there, since I was vaguely citing some Arthurian film, but I accept correction nonetheless.
I was being sarc/smartass and not a dick.
April 26th, 1992, there was a riot on the streets tell me where were you;
You were sittin' home watchin' your tv, while I was participating in some anarchy.
They said it's for the black man, they it's for the mexican, and not for the white man;
But if you look at the streets it wasn't about Rodney King, It's this fucked up situation and these fucked up police.
I have to admit, some little part of me is happy when the violence is directed specifically toward the police (when it gets applied to innocent business owners it's all spoiled). But it will probably not turn out well. Just another urban riot, ultimately to be ignored and forgotten except as politically convenient.
We've seem to have had a lot of these lately. Can they really just keep ignoring it?
The past year or so does seem to have had more than average. But such riots have happened somewhat consistently for ages.
Doing something would require the people who run the cities to reexamine the horrible policies that contribute to the inner cities staying poor, economically depressed and mostly segregated by race and social class.
So basically they would have to abandon Progressivism, and we know that is never going to happen.
^This, sadly.
Bard
The problem with progressivism is that when it fails the solution tends to be more progressivism. Case in point, MD had fairly draconian gun control laws prior to Newtown. I had to wait a month to buy a handgun (two weeks for it to come in and then two weeks after the FFL actually received it). After that they ramped them up (easy to do with progressive Governor Martin O'Malley and majorities in the state house and senate). In 2013, MD had the 43rd lowest violent crime rate. Its gun-friendly neighbor, Virginia, was 3rd lowest. The state with the lowest rate has constitutional carry.
Any of the pro gun control posters want to turn these facts into a discussion?
The people who run these cities don't want to reexamine these policies as they're accomplishing their true goal. Political machines don't work when people are self-reliant.
That was most of my point about why riots will be mostly ignored and forgotten after a little while. Perhaps I should have added "and we all know that's not going to happen" at the end.
But it will probably not turn out well.
Detroit and Northern Ireland say hi.
The narrative isn't about cops having undue power or propagating injustice. The narrative is about whites having undue power and propagating injustice. Cops didn't shoot the latest Trayvon, white people did.
As long as that narrative is the main stream, all of this "push back against cops" is really just destruction of property and new generations of grievances for identity politics to exploit.
Well, I take what I can get.
Maybe one day the majority of blacks will wake up and realize how much generations of identity politics, race baiting, a culture of victimhood, and progressive ideology have fucked them over.
I hope that a Rand Paul candidacy talking about police abuse can pull enough of them away from the Democrat plantation that they actually get some politicians in their neighborhoods that are actually interested in their needs, and not just there to stoke more racial hatred for political gain.
You missed the videos of rioters attacking businesses, cars, etc.?
Today or yesterday?
No. Didn't I say something about that? If I didn't make it clear enough, I mentioned that because I know that sort of thing is also happening. I was just responding to this particular post, specifically about the school walkout where they started throwing stuff at police. Didn't watch any of the video on this post.
They're also attacking reporters (yesterday and today).
Yeah rioters suck. But rioters and protestors are not one and the same. Though I suspect that some high school students might readily move from one to the other.
Call me Alex Jones but if we find out Baltimore City Police in plain clothes are acting as agent provocateurs I won't be surprised.
"Hope and change involves a lot more rioting and looting than I expected." ?Jon Gabriel
Perhaps someone should write a manual about how to recognize such...conspiracies?
Guy shots at cop on freeway.
http://www.nbc4i.com/story/289.....-arraigned
The guy was holding a 16 pound iron ball near his neck and threw it at the cop using a pushing motion releasing above the shoulder?
No one needs more than a 10 pound shot put.
The clip above started with a commercial advertising huge savings.
I don't think they can beat the savings shown on the video, though!
Start working from home! Great job for students, stay-at-home moms or anyone needing an extra income... You only need a computer and a reliable internet connection... http://www.Jobsyelp.com
Looking for people who can move fast on foot carrying heavy objects. Ski mask preferred.
I should start doing some hood recon looking for the best stores for when it happens here.
Well more people are going to have to work from home the more this keeps up though I'm not sure a reliable internet connection will...
"Come on down to South Main Street and see the savings! It's a steal!"
Pshaw, Balmer rioting is nowhere near as fun as Seattle rioting. In fact, I think we need one too.
What, hippie riots? Ye gods, is there anything worse than that?
Worse...or awesomer?
No, worse. I mean, let's start with the smell.
The good thing about Seattlites rioting is their inability to carry off anything substantial. Not because their strength has been sapped by years of vegan dieting and their beanpole limbs would snap under the weight of anything larger than a fifteen inch LCD monitor, but because they'd have to put down their cruelty-free skim-milk lattes first.
Hipster riots could be worse. Skinny-jeaned thugs riding away on their fixies after having looted then torched a Whole Foods while listening to Pomplamoose on their iPhones.
The cops in this country are reaping what they have sown,There have been too many instances of police abuse on video just this year. Many are losing all respect for the cops. If your not going to punish bad cops do not expect others to respect the law
Unfirrunately it's not the cops paying the price. It's the people who had the audacity to offer goods and services in poor areas.
Yep as usual with these events there are no heroes just two different groups of assholes.
true, but, when cops are criminals how do justify enforcing the law? When the king is corrupt,so is society.
Re looters: aim for the chest. Center of mass.
I certainly hope the shop owners out there are well-armed, legally or otherwise. A great argument for the Second Amendment are the pictures of the Korean storeowners in LA on their roofs armed with rifles and shotguns during the LA Riots. Police nowhere to be found.
What? Those Korean "preppers" were crazy, man!
Baltimore Police will fuck any business owner hard who stands out in front if their shop armed.
Oh the Reason (Drink!) I keep referring to Detroit and Northern Ireland is this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1.....land_riots
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1967_Detroit_riot
The precipitating event was a police raid of an unlicensed, after-hours bar then known as a blind pig, on the corner of 12th (today Rosa Parks Boulevard) and Clairmount streets on the city's Near West Side
What is your fucking point, Winston?
They better have this shit settled one way or the other by Memorial Day weekend. I'm going down there for 4 days. I want it nice and peaceful while I listen to Death Metal.
#fuckinginconvenientriot
don't worry the government has plans with in plans with in plans
For a riot it appears to be a lot of aimless milling-around. I was expecting torches and pitchforks.
Like Young Frankenstein ?
What knockers!
A lot of the people standing around are shooting their own video.
Bulletmore, Murderland
Looking forward to HILLARY!
She'll provide the strong pimp hand to rebuild America after the chaos and ruin of the Obama age.
More white people should be protesting. The lack of police accountability is something that affects everyone.
The protests (as in, peaceful gatherings of people) tend to draw in diverse groups. The riots and looting, on the other hand...
As it wasn't enough, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, the current Baltimore mayor support "them" http://fusion.net/story/126587.....-property/
It's politically incorrect to said but looks like Stephanie Rowling-Blake might be the female Coleman A. Young or Kwame Kilpatrick.
And I saw this one on Breitbart http://www.breitbart.com/big-g.....for-purge/ Martin Luther King's niece writed the following then I quoted:
"The niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. blasted Mayor Rawlings-Blake for "inviting violence" into Baltimore in a letter obtained by Breitbart News.
Your invitation to "give space for those who want to destroy" is unbelievable. This interpretation of rights to free speech is dangerous Ma'am.
In 1963, my father Rev. AD King, after the firebombing of our home in Birmingham, Alabama, urged hostile protestors to abandon violence and turn to God in prayer instead. Thank God they listened to him, and the even greater voice of his brother, my Uncle MLK, during those turbulent days.
Now, you are inviting violence to your city? Who, Ma'am, will incur the moral and economic costs of picking up the pieces? The innocent taxpayers?
We at http://www.restorethedream2015.com are very concerned. Ma'am, people are not entitled to pillage and destroy. That is just plain wrong. Our affiliates on the ground in Baltimore are willing to help quell the violent tide. And make no mistake about it; something must be done to save our cities...."
(continued)
...."How did we get here? Where do we go now? Think about this: Baltimore 1965 vs. Baltimore 2015, compare and contrast:
1. Money spent on public schools then vs. now.
2. Amount spent on social welfare payments then vs. now.
3. The size of Government Bureaucracy then vs. now.
4. The number of black elected officials then vs. now.
5. Number of black children born in Baltimore to an intact nuclear family.
6. Number of Black lives MIA by abortion and incarceration.
If you look at all six questions/comparisons what you will see is the only statistics to have decreased (1965 to 2015) is the number of black children born in intact nuclear families.
Something is wrong. We must stop the killing and advance the healing now!"
I think then the niece of Martin Luther King is right on target!
And thanks to looters and the various race baiters we never will get anything resembling justice.
