Conservative Activists Face SWAT Raids in Wisconsin, More to the Britt McHenry Story, Rare Beanie Babies Alert: P.M. Links

-
Youtube The latest issue of National Review exposes a series of terrifying, politically-motivated police raids against conservatives connected to Gov. Scott Walker.
- Two shootings at Delaware State University.
- Britt McHenry, the ESPN reporter caught on camera berating a towing company employee, was treated unfairly by the internet lynch mob, according to new information.
- Well, what do you know: a higher minimum wage could threaten small theaters, some actors fear.
- The American Enterprise Institute's Christina Hoff Sommers, an individualist feminist, is giving a talk at Oberlin College tonight. Some students have accused her of being a rape denier and expressed fears that her mere presence makes the campus an unsafe place.
- Gov. Chris Christie's opposition to marijuana federalism isn't the political winner he thinks it is, writes Reason's Jacob Sullum.
- One of those supposedly rare beanie babies has surfaced, and a British couple stands to rake in thousands of dollars.
- A Minnesota bar got in trouble for serving "Spotted Cow" beer. You can only sell that in the great state of Wisconsin, folks.

It's a politically motivated raid only if the target is liberal.
If the target is a conservative, the bas**** deserved it and had it coming.
Hello.
!
Nice First, Injun.
Thanks Tonio! 🙂
Fisty has a sad.
Not for the reason you think.
If that's at all true, it's truly horrifying. And people better fucking be going to jail over it, too. Like everyone involved, not just some fall guy.
Look, Pro L, I know we all like Fist, but jailing Injun for taking a first is a bit much.
Think of it as forum equivalent of broken window policing.
Sure, first you let Injun slide, then Rufus starts critiquing clothes instead of Gilmore, and where does it end? ENB making John typos, not in comments, but articles themselves. And let me tell you, you can kiss libertarian moment goodbye afterwards.
NOT A FAN OF PAISLEY.
ENB suddenly morphs into ESB.
Please god never let this happen.
That, too, but I was thinking about Wisconsin.
I just assumed Fist was being raided and was therefore unavailable for comment
But seriously, that's a huge story and I hope this gains traction.
Could really boost Walker's campaign, too.
Wouldn't that be beautifully ironic?
Can Walker or the WI AG appoint a special prosecutor to look into the case?
That son of a bitch in Wisconsin who pressed these unlawful raids better watch himself when President Walker gains access to a fully armed and operational IRS.
Well, what do you know: a higher minimum wage could threaten small movie theaters, some actors fear.
What aspect of a movie theater requires human labor?
The walking through the auditorium with a flashlight, annoying customers part.
The new theaters with the full restaurant and recliner seats have servants and bartenders.
Is baretenders a word? Because I have a new cunning plan.
Jesse is a beartender.
/ducking
Why would anyone want such a thing? That's not cunning at all.
Ahem.
Look, no one is going to pay for a bear tending bar. Sure, maybe once or twice as a novelty, but not on a regular basis. Naked people tending bar is another story. Are you a capitalist or not?
I thought you were a cunning linguist.
No, that was someone who used to comment here. She was very cunning, and has a PhD in linguistics.
More like Phillip something.

What a good way of spending your time and (confiscated) resources, government!
Heckuva job, Mark Dayton.
And that's why I ran as far as I could from that worker's paradise as soon as I could.
Bite your tongue!
That bar is right in Tundra and I's backyard. We have children to worry about. Would you be so cavalier about a bar peddling Wisconsin brand paint thinner beer to your kids? I bet not.
However, I would like to say that I have not been to that bar since they "upgraded" from Pulaski's Polish Palace.
I'd also swear that I have bought New Glarus beers from my local liquor store. Maybe I can make a few $$ turning them into the cops too?
What an interesting coincidence. I also happen to live real close to that bar. What's up with libertarians in the northwest suburbs?
I'd also like to point out that alcohol licensing and cig licensing was the reason Dayton caved during our last govt shutdown.
Dayton talked a mean game, but when the GOP didn't cave and we were on the verge of not being able to buy major brand name beers or cigs because they couldn't renew their licenses, Mark gave up.
My theory is that the progs were really worried that the people would figure out what a racquet this booze licensing is. Heaven forbid us serfs figure out how little value the state adds to our booze supply chain.
Do they even claim to add any value? It's pretty obviously all about collecting taxes. And a little bit about enforcing drinking age laws and protecting the people from themselves.
March was the hottest month on record, and the past three months were the warmest start to a year on record, according to new data released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. It's a continuation of trends that made 2014 the most blistering year for the surface of the planet, in to records going back to 1880.
The animation below shows the Earth's warming climate, recorded in monthly measurements from land and sea over more than 135 years. Temperatures are displayed in degrees above or below the 20th-century average. Thirteen of the 14 hottest years are in the 21st century, and 2015 is on track to break the heat record again.

This can't be true. In 2008, 1998 and 1935 were both hotter than any year in the 21st century. But its NOAA, whose surface temperature record keeps being revised to show an upward bias.

You know what shreek? They have been caught lying a number of times about temps. Nothing they say now can be trusted. If that is what they say then you can be sure it is nearly the opposite of the truth. March was not the hottest month on record, the past three months were not the warmest start to a year on record and the trend now is slight cooling, and has been for the last ten years at least.
Straight from the NOAA .

"Information Preservation and Weather Forecasting for Black Holes"
Stephen Hawking has written a paper which gives a plausibility argument for why General Relativity does not necessarily imply that the gravitational collapse of star will lead to an event horizon.
If the singularity is not obscured by an event horizon, what implications does that have for the ability to study the dynamics which occur at the extreme end of relativity?
Nobody wants to see naked singularities.
Nobody wants to see naked Mickey Rat, either.

If Robert Byrd had started a car company...
...it would have been the Kleagle.
...or a combination of 3 and 5.
Guessing #2. I know 1, 4, and, I think, 6 existed.
#6 still exists. Hideous looking "sports" car from Hyundai.
It looks great. The problem is there is nothing "sporty" about the handling. The chassis flexes like a homemade convertible. Shame too, as the 3+1 door hatchback is a very utilitarian configuration. Although that is largely why it handles like shit.
Imma say 5.

Concealed carrying Chicago Uber driver shoots rampaging gunman
Guns. Uber. Happening in gun-control happy Chicago. It's like a perfect storm of everything progressives hate.
So I can't shoot the person trying to kill my child? Fuck off slaver.
The culmination of gun control.
Let's limit the types of firearms the proles own, comrades. Then we will tell them when and where they can carry them. They we will tell them how many rounds they can put in their firearms. Then we will ban lead ammo and then steel ammo and hollow point ammo and whatever. We will kill the 2nd amendment by hook or by crook, comrades!
"that is the job of the police only"
What are the odds that this poster is also a leftist that thinks the police are racists that target black people?
BardMetal, doublethink takes a lot of time and practice. Questioning it is hate speech.
You are on a roll today I from I!
Somehow, someway, your comment is racist...
Progressives are racists, and he is a white middle class male, so why would that bother him?
Well, this Michael J Pussy Busse sounds absolutely delightful. Too bad he wasn't on scene for this. He could have educated everyone there on how to wait for their moral superiors the cops, who would have most certainly only used firm vocal commands to get compliance from the shooter.
I mean, since all officers have Masters and Doctorates, and can't stand actually having to carry a firearm themselves, it's the only moral option!
Sounds like the type of person who would justify not intervening in an active rape, because the police should handle it... even though the Supreme Court specifically says that the police are not required to protect and/or defend people.
Well, of course you let the police handle it! IT'S THEIR JOB!!!1! Do you really want to take the bread out of their mouths? You sound like some kind of corporatist!
/michaeljbusse626
--a private citizen is not entitled to use deadly force in defense of others--that is the job of the police only-
That is quite possibly the most awful thing I've read all month.
"that is the job of the police only"
Actually, it's not the job of the police at all, which is one of the main arguments in favor of the second amendment. The police are not legally obligated to defend anyone. Who is going to defend you then?
I don't have a ton of expertise with firearms, but it sounds like the concealed carrier was aiming low. Thoughts? This seems more responsible than aiming high and potentially winging bystanders, or worse, but I'm also told shooters should always aim for center mass.
Also, Custodio. Taken into custody. Har.
Every class I've been to says you shoot center mass. The last one I took taught us to pull the trigger 3 times and reassess. I have to agree with you. It's seems he was aiming low on purpose.
You'd think the police would try shooting low at, say, someone twenty yards away and armed with a pocket knife.
You'd think wrong. Police either shoot to kill or they don't shoot at all.
He could have been aiming center mass but hitting low.
Libertopia Rising
Wow, just wow.
This is second only to the "They're getting gay married in Utah" headline I saw on Reason.com a few months ago.
You left out that an armed "civilian" killed a bad guy without injuring anyone else. Also, no charges to be filed. Oh, the salty ham tears will be flowing tonight.
How many laws have to be overturned before Chicago can stop being "gun-control-happy" in the mind of the commentariat? We are freaking shall-issue here now guys.
Is DC still gun control happy? Because you and they were forced to be shall issue by activist judges. I'm not taking a side because even if Chicago is libertopia, its too cold for me. I would think some elected body enacting gun friendly legislation might be a good yardstick.
Chicago wouldn't be Libertopia if they bombed it out of existence, rebuilt it, and called it Libertopialand. It's too far gone.
I would think some elected body enacting gun friendly legislation might be a good yardstick.
Yeah, this brief period of gun sanity doesn't negate Chicago being gun-control-happy if the powers that be are all searching about for ways to bring back the old system.
That has happened. A lot of the post-Macdonald local laws have already been preempted by changes to state law that were gun-friendlier than what was required by the courts.
Nikki, I'm going to withhold judgment on their 2A bona fides until this shitheel stops not so subtly threatening to shoot concealed carriers.
http://gunsnfreedom.com/chicag.....ining/1071
"Chicago police superintendent Garry McCarthy is not happy about the new concealed carry laws in Illinois. And now he is predicting that police will shoot citizens who are lawfully carrying firearms. "
To be fair, he's being honest. Cops in this day and age are trained to kill at the slightest perceived threat, armed or not. Now imagine these goons when they see a holstered weapon. The cops can't be trusted, he's just admitting it out in the open.
Well, whatever they are trained to do, police killings are not increasing
How many laws have to be overturned before Chicago can stop being "gun-control-happy" in the mind of the commentariat?
All of them.
Have right-thinking Chicagoans gotten over it yet, or are they still bitching about the redneck gun nuts?
Well Chicago was the city that prided itself on having some of the strictest gun control in the country until being forced to comply with the Second Amendment. So yeah, I still think of it as gun control happy.
Is it your view that the people of Chicago have become more open and accepting of concealed carry and gun ownership in general since 2010?
I would say that many people are more accepting of it. We definitely know a few people who are "out" about it now. And it's not a local political issue at all.
The driver pulled out a handgun and fired six shots at Custodio, hitting him several times, according to court records. Responding officers found Custodio lying on the ground, bleeding, Quinn said. No other injuries were reported.
He hit him twice as often and spent1/20th the ammunition of the precinct of cops that would have showed up instead. A great argument for the efficiency of the private sector.
Six shots and several hits? Depending on the range, I'm thinking he exercised pretty good gun control, right there.
I am fully erect.
Just the phrasing of the article pissed me off so much that I don't even want to venture into the comments. They spend most of the article discussing the injuries the poor little gunman sustained, while doing the typical "prosecutor says" about the fact that he was firing at the crowd. Verdict is still out on that one, even though he wasn't charged.
Spot the Not: insane environmentalist quotes
1. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.
2. The right to have children should be a marketable commodity, bought and traded by individuals but absolutely limited by the state.
3. If I were reincarnated, I would wish to be returned to Earth as a killer virus to lower human population levels.
4. Everything we have developed over the last 100 years should be destroyed.
5. I suspect that eradicating smallpox was wrong. It played an important part in balancing
ecosystems.
6. Human beings, as a species, have no more value than slugs.
2. They wouldn't be in favor of markets.
Actually, a green "economist" named Kenneth Boulding said that.
Well, 1 is Agent Smith.
But, I believe environmentalists have said that; though perhaps not that exact phraseology.
Environmentalist says humans are plague on Earth
That monologue akways struck me as if it was cribbing from something.
"It's the smell!"
#1 is Agent Smith.
Let me reveal the answer, damn it!
Except for #2, I think they're all Ted Kacynski quotes.

Of course she was treated unfairly. Tow companies are scum, only slightly better than police. I strongly doubt that she did anything even close to wrong.

She acted kinda Anna Merlanish.
I would defend Anna Merlan or even ESB against a towing company, no questions asked.

We are men of the world, we know anyone that hot has never had to deal with the downside of being crazy before and therefore should never be given valid contact info if picked up in a bar.
Her entire life is based upon being popular. The world now knows she's an insufferable twat. That's punishment enough. Put her back on the air so I can stare at her chest with some Racquel Darian dialogue dubbed over her voice.
According to the link, the towing company edited the clip down which strongly suggests their driver had a few choice responses for Ms. McHenry. For that alone I'm willing to give her a pass. Well, that and two other reasons.
She definitely deserves to be handcuffed and... umm... detained.
I did get to watch a bunch of known (to me) assholes talk about what an asshole Mchenry was though.

My gf got her car towed by these miserable assholes sometime back. And I can attest that they were not pleasant.

"Winter is coming"
This is only one plausible argument for the variable seasonal lengths in the GRRM universe. However, I'm personally more supportive of the suggestion that the planet orbits a variably luminous star.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Ice_Age
It has been suggested that the Little Ice Age of 1350 to 1850 was the result a decrease in the UV output of the Sun.
Ice zombies are NOT plausible argument?!
You are an embarrassmebt to the Citadel, sir!
Um it's fantasy so I'm going with magic. I think a universe with dragons and white walkers isn't too big in the scientific explanations department.
Does the planet the GoT world is set on have a moon? If not, then the rotational axis of the planet would be really unstable, so the changes in axial tilt could result in really long winters and then long periods with no winters at all.
Yes, the moon is the wife of the sun. It is known.
It is known.
GRRM has said that the variable season lengths is due to magic. I suspect that Brynden Rivers will be involved in fixing it.
There's a podcast interviewing the guys who wrote the paper:

Judge declares off-duty cop was "beyond reckless" in shooting, finds not guilty.
Is it that they didn't charge him with murder? I'm not sure that makes sense, exactly.
Yeah...prosecutors undercharged, so he's not guilty, but, I believe, also can't be tried again because of double jeopardy? I mean...
Chicago is fucked up beyond belief.
Part of me wonders if they deliberately did it. And not in the "we're going to charge you within involuntary manslaughter for something we'd hit your average pleb with a murder beef," but rather a calculated "we know the elements of the law and the judge will toss this and - SURPRISE - we won't be able to come back after this hero because of double-jeopardy and my boss won't have uncomfortable moments with the CPD."
Thanks for linking that because when the page loaded, the first recommended article underneath that one was "Trucker who drove while fatigued before fatal I-88 crash gets 3 years in prison"

Slight anti-nut punch, for once.
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/ne.....story.html
Per SugarFree's comment this morning, an anti-nut punch will henceforth be referred to as "nut caress".
That's more than slight. It's the full deal.
I'm hedging my bets until sentencing/appeal.
My nuts are incredibly sore so I'll take the caress now and then endure the re-punch at a later date, if necessary.
Why even admit women to college at all? If colleges are such terrible, unsafe, PIV=rape, places that Christina Hoff Summers, by suggesting that there's not a rapist hiding behind every tree and that drunken sex is not rape, makes them even more "rapey", why not just ban co-ed education at the college level?
You forgot to add:
1) ban alchohol
2) pass an individual mandate for all women to wear burqas or pay a fine.
1) We only need to ban alcohol for women, since no matter how drunk a man is, he is perfectly able to interpret consent or lack of consent, whereas once that first drop of alcohol touches a woman's lips, she is unable to give consent.
2) That is a great suggestion. I'm going to miss seeing all of the co-eds walking around in shorts and yoga pants, but I am willing to make this huge personal sacrifice if it will end the scourge of RAEP KULTUR.
RAEP KULTUR
Now if that ain't a great name for a band, I don't know what is.
Needs a couple of unnecessary umlauts.
(that would also be a great band name)
For the swim team?
Hijab Bikinis: Swim with Modesty
I think the US Supreme Court has made it abundantly clearly that Congress cannot make fine women for not wearing burqas. Instead, they will have to impose a Shared Responsibility penaltax for failure to wear a burqa.
"By denying rape culture, she's creating exactly the cycle of victim/survivor blame, where victims are responsible for the violence that was forced upon them and the subsequent shame that occurs when survivors share their stories, whose existence she denies. This is how rape culture flourishes."
Notice that there's no debate about whether the 'rape culture' exists. It just is. Questioning it IS EVIDENCE OF IT.
Did anyone read the comments on the Facebook post I posted the other day? They're hilarious.
You're going to have to scroll up a bit because the really hilarious comments got buried, but here's a sample.
Tanya Stickles 1. this is not a nuanced viewpoint. what sommers is bringing is not feminism at all. there is no viewpoint to explore. it's just straight up wrong.
2. literally this college is not a protective bubble. why do people keep on thinking that we're shielded from ideas? we're talking about these perspectives and articulating our position and supporting it. literally, what.
3. overly sensitive college girls? really? how does anyone saying that "what this person is saying is just straight up wrong" make them overly sensitive? it's a point of fact, and it's kind of messed up to make a judgement call on whether or not anyone is too sensitive.
4. you're not engaging us with our ideas. you're making attacks on our character and drawing hella assumptions about how we feel and our capacity to survive in a misogynistic world.
LIKE LITERAL ZOMG, LIKE FOR LITERALLY. This is just straight wrong and like literally not okay and not nuanced and shit. Like how do you expect me to survive in this patriarchal world, shitlord cis-het white males?
You forgot "hella," Irish.
It's a well-accepted fact that 20% of college women get raped during college. Even Obama and Biden recite this fact, which means that they believe a US campus is several times more risky than South Africa.
US College campus = 20% during a 5 year enrollment - 4% / year -- 400 rapes / 100,000
South Africa, per US State Department website -- 127 sexual offenses per 100,000 population
It's three times safer for a 19-year-old coed to stroll through Soweto than her own college campus.
By bringing her to a college campus laden with trauma and sexualized violence and full of victims/survivors
Wait, is she saying Oberlin is full of rapists? Shouldn't the people there be less likely to commit such crimes?
Obviously the solution is to not allow men to attend college.
Better yet, we should all be turned into eunuchs and blinded so that we may never oppress these delicate flowers ever again. (Yes, that includes the gay guys, just be safe.)

I love that as tiny as Liberland is, it's still bigger than Monaco. Unfortunately, I've heard they are either only letting 3-5,000 people get citizenship/move into Liberland (not sure which).
Really because they seemed to be saying anyone can move there unless they're a criminal or a Nazi.
I've heard contradictory things. Maybe anyone can move there but only a select few will be citizens. See you there?

No doubt. Have you ever read Antony Beevor's The Fall of Berlin? Brutal account but one of the creepy things I remember was him writing about the expansion of Berlin post-1989. When they started building new apartment buildings, they were digging up something like 100 corpses a week from the 1945 battles.
I read it and second the recommendation. Just an amazing and awful story with many interesting details.

I'm not sure crossing the street when you see an officer is, um, the ticket.
Never turn your back on 'em, either. Triggers the predatory impulse to chase and kill.

Interesting line at 4;48. I wonder if Lucas still thinks nationalizing commerce is a bad thing. Or are Nixon and Ford not TOP MEN enough?
Question and Comment Time with Cytotoxic: many here were urging the defamed frat at the center of the entirely false Rolling Stone story to sue the magazine, but is this really in keeping with our principles?
Yes? I was unaware opposition to libel torts was part of libertarianism.
Isn't that against freedom of speech?
Lies of this sort do immense damage to peoples' livelihood. There needs to a be a means of rectification.
In this case, these guys were not only severely ostracized but had their house vandalized. If your lies result in someone's property being damaged because you've wrongly impugned their character, they need a means of making themselves whole.
Causation, causation, causation.
A libels B. C, neither related to, nor employed by, or in league with A, ransacks B's house.
A should pay for that which C did?
Should we not hold C accountable for his actions? Or do we engage in the legal fiction that A caused C to ransack B's house because C is not really an independent actor capable of making decisions for herself?
Generally, the two halves of the court system get to have their cake and eat it, too. The civil side can say A caused C's actions, and the criminal side can say C committed a crime of his own volition simultaneously. Hell, B can still sue C for damages if the latter isn't indicted and convicted.
Yes, your post is spot-on with respect to the reality of our justice system.
What about damage to reputation and livelihood? That is a more direct injury done to B by A.
What about damage to reputation and livelihood?
Reputation and livelihood are things other people give to you. Someone who libels or slanders you doesn't take them away from you (unless he is already part of your social and professional circles). Strictly speaking, unless your libeler/slanderer is also stealing from or assaulting you, he hasn't caused you direct harm through his own actions.
Not if what was said was both untrue and said with either malicious intent or due to gross negligence.
In this case Rolling Stone had a duty to fact-check and confirm the validity of the story. Instead they pushed ahead and did not retract until after the frat and its members had suffered damage to their reputations.
Strictly speaking, yes. Any harm that results (unless you also assaulted the guy) is from other people. But intellectual property is more or less the same sort of thing. If you can live with IP, I don't see how slander/libel would raise your hackles.
IP regards actual property ie an idea that I created. I am open to the argument that my reputation is also my property.
IP regards actual property
Question begging.
I am open to the argument that my reputation is also my property.
That is more or less the analogy I was trying to draw.
The freedom to speak is not the freedom to defame, which is exactly what happened here. This was a smear job from start to finish. What's more, the smear job accused a discrete class of individuals (Phi Kappa Psi) of committing a criminal offense of moral turpitude, which, under defamation per se, makes the defendant to such an action liable, whether or not actual harm has taken place.
No. FoS is with regard to government censorship, i.e., criminal rather than civil.
"Congress shall pass NO law........"
I guess I must of missed the modifier, criminal.
So you're not only thoroughly ignorant of basic biology, you also don't know the difference between a law and a tort.
So, genius, what is a tort?
Is a claim for defamation an action at law?
How about a claim for trespass, is it an action at law?
Is a claim for tortious interference with contractual relations an action at law?
How about a claim for assault? Is it an action at law?
How about a claim for negligent operation of a motor vehicle? Is it an action at law?
Perhaps someone can enlighten Old Man with Candy.
Perhaps that person can tell Mr. Old Candy that one learns of torts in one's torts class in "law" school.
Perhaps that person can tell Mr. Old Candy that tort "law" has been taught at law schools for centuries.
Perhaps that person can tell Mr. Old Candy that although historically tort "law" grew up under the common "law", for over a century, now, tort "law" is a creature of both statute and decisional "law".
But, hey, everybody knows that "torts" aren't the law because Mr. Old Candy says there is a difference!
Just curious, have you ever had that problem when it started raining and you looked up? Then your mouth hung open and the rain started filling it? And you were but dimly aware that you were inhaling water and beginning to drown? What was that like to you and at what point did you figure out how stop? I've just always been curious about how the seriously acerebral mind works (such mind as there is), what it perceives (to the extent that it can perceive). It's just so... foreign, so deliciously strange.
You are a fascinating fellow.
Allopathy, Old Man. ALLOPATHYYYYYYYY
Science with Cytotoxic: we not only have found a new antibiotic, but we found with a new way to find antibiotics.
http://www.science20.com/the_c.....ome-152170
99% of the microbes in soil are unculturable, so these scientists put soil samples in a kind of 'bacteria hotel' and cultured them there. They got over a dozen possible antibiotics and one that can be make to work almost immediately: teixobactin. I certainly hope the government stringently regulates the prescription, usage, and disposal of this novel medicine to prevent engendering resistant strains.
As soon as they hit the market in Asia they'll be in every hand soap ever.
Have you considered rebranding all of your _______ with Cytotoxic segments as "Trolling with Cytotoxic".
How about a topic suggestion for Science with Cytotoxic?
VAERS says that there have been over 100 deaths caused by measles vaccines in the last 10 years whereas not one death attributable to measles in the same time span according to the CDC.
VAERS says that there have been over 100 deaths caused by measles vaccines in the last 10 years whereas not one death attributable to measles in the same time span according to the CDC.
On its face, that just proves the vaccine works. I suppose an argument could be made that the vaccine is not necessary after the disease has been eliminated, but that condition has hardly been met (vs e.g. Smallpox).
On its face, it proves that one is better off having parents who are smart enough not to be enticed by the magic elixirs of big pharma and smart enough to reject herd immunity gibberish.
Duck season!
DERPY DERPY DERP I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW VACCINES WORK /LM
I was giving you the benefit of the doubt, but clearly you are wedded to your nonsense.
Uh huh.
Clearly the "magic elixirs" are ineffective because we are still plagued with polio and smallpox.... Wait, no, vaccines do work.
Crawl back into your hole dipshit.
It's pretty tough for something that only occasionally kills you to kill you if it almost never happens. You're comparing 100 deaths in 10 years for something that almost everybody gets to no deaths in 10 years that almost nobody gets. That's hardly apples to apples.
Let's look at the graph folks: number of measles cases per year
Nope. Assuming facts not in evidence as you have no proof that "almost everybody gets" vaccinated. Not all people buy big pharma's sales pitch. Big pharma meaning the very quintessence of crony capitalist socialism. But, oh, we shouldn't question the "studies" performed by rent seeking parasites, should we?
Lots of folks got vaccines in my parents' generation. I didn't know any kids in my generation that got measles when the MMR was routine and mandatory and few people opted out, and now that opting out is hip because of retarded anti-vaxxers, there are kids (including my younger brother) who have had measles.
These "studies" comport with what I've seen from personal experience, but I should make random assertions because even though "the science" and my experience line up, they must be wrong because BIG PHARMA is evil.
Got it.
Argh
Lots of folks got vaccines measles in my parents' generation.
FIFM
you have no proof that "almost everybody gets" vaccinated.
Actually we do.
http://data.worldbank.org/indi...../countries
Don't worry, moron. Dirt-worshipping prescientific scum like you will make sure there are a lot more than zero measles deaths. ALLOPATHYYYYYYYYY
Another great testament to Warty's intellectual timber!
Do you have a newsletter to which I can subscribe and subsequently wipe my arse with?
Yes, but only if you promise to read before you wipe.
No Jesse because it's not trolling. No need to be a prick.
I certainly hope the government stringently regulates the prescription, usage, and disposal of this novel medicine to prevent engendering resistant strains.
Uh, what?
Must prevent antibacterial resistance.
Must throw people in rape cages to prevent antibacterial resistance?
Must also prevent prison rape. But yes, we must punish people if necessary to prevent them from engendering antibiotic resistance.
The Nerd Corner with Cytotoxic: What is up with Valve's 'Steambox'? What is Gabe thinking with this thing? I don't even see it's niche. Love the SteamOS concept but I think this is going to be his albatross. Good thing we've got HALF-LIFE 3 CONFIRMED okay not really but Valve is doing a bunch of other stuff like VR.

""...let's engage in some radical, beautiful community care, support and love. Let's make space for everyone to engage at whichever level they want/need. Let's come through for each other, both now and in the future. Trauma is an experience that threatens a person's bodily, spiritual and emotional integrity. The psychological, emotional and somatic impacts extend beyond the experience of trauma. Healing is a process that looks different for each person. Let's make space to care for all experiences of trauma and to respect those we care for. Let's focus our energy on taking care of each other and ourselves. Let's make her talk irrelevant in the face of our love, passion and power..."
I think the more appropriate "Content Warning" would have been " = there is none"
although i have to give them credit for the accuracy of the title. Nothing else in the entire piece made any sense whatsoever.
"On April 15, Sommers also tweeted: "Looking forward to visiting Oberlin next week. I see my talk is already the focus of a lively campus discussion." She shared OCRL's event page with all of her followers on Twitter, after which many of them flocked to the page to defend her viewpoint."
They flocked to defend her viewpoint? EGAD, that does sound scary.
The names of some of the people signing that petition are so fucking precious you know it has to be Oberlin:
? Rose Murphree Gamble, College sophomore
? Megs Gisela Bautista, College
? Sage Mitchell-Sparke
? Amethyst Carey
? Bryn Weiler, first-year
? Haley Jones, College sophomore
? Sky Kalfus, College senior
? Leah Awkward-Rich, sophomore
? Elka Lee-Shapiro
Leah Awkward-Rich, sophomore
NRNo RELTAION!
Leah Awkward-Rich is one of the greatest names I've ever heard.
That has to be a troll.
Would you agree that Amethyst is far more blue than her namesake? To her, purple is half-way to hate.
That's some slow-ball pitch across the plate shit right there. Making fun of these waterheads isn't even sporting.
Sir, the HydrocephalUS foundation is on line three. Something about a comment on the internet?
Those cannot be real names! P.G. Wodehouse would consider each of them a treasure to be used sparingly, not wasted on a single page...
" Leah Awkward-Rich "
Ugh, like I was stepping into the yacht on my private beach when I tripped and a bunch of monocles and gold doubloons fell out of my pocket. So awkward!
Why would you keep glass next to such heavy objects? I'm not sure that happened as you told it.
I forgot to mention they were monocles made from diamonds
It all makes sense now.
They write the accusations against her with a kind of "appalled gravitas"... and punctuate their list of ThoughtCrimes with the oh-so-millenial form of "proof', "DUDE DONT BELIEVE?? JUST GOOGLE IT"!!
as though all you need to do is make wild claims, then assert "SHIT IS ON THE INTERNET!! MAKES IT TRUE!!"
=
"Though OCRL advertised Christina Hoff Sommers as a feminist with a "perspective that differs from the general Oberlin population," they failed to mention that she is a rape denialist. A rape denialist is someone who denies the prevalence of rape and denies known causes of it. Christina Hoff Sommers believes that rape occurs less often than statistics (those which actually leave out a plethora of unreported rapes) suggest. She also believes that false rape accusations are a rampant issue and that intoxication and coercion cannot rightly be considered barriers to consent. OCRL additionally failed to mention that she participates in violent movements such as GamerGate, a campaign that threatened feminists advocating against sexism in video games via threats of death and rape. If you need proof, examples or explanation of that, just Google her."
a plethora of unreported rapes
Is that like "an exultation of larks"?
Tell me, Jefe: Would you say I have a plethora of pinatas?
"A rape denialist is someone who denies the prevalence of rape"
Fail = its not denial of something's prevalence; its disagreement about the amount of it.
1 in 5 ? No. Its simply not true and even the prog-elite has finally disowned it after a year+ of letting the lie service its purpose.
Saying that someone refused to accept lies was in the past considered a compliment.
"You expect me to support my claim with cites? I'm not doing your work for you, patriarchal shitlord oppressor!"
" I'm not doing your work for you"
I believe the SJW translation is, "I'm not going to enact that labor on your behalf"
Nothing else in the entire piece made any sense whatsoever.
That's because you're *thinking* about it, G.
Take a deep breath, exhale slowly, and *feel* as you read: Let's make space for everyone to engage at whichever level they want/need. Let's come through for each other, both now and in the future.
See? That wasn't so hard.
