ESPN suspended Keith Olbermann for making fun of Penn State and its students on Twitter.
Keith knows how to pick his battles.
Hello.
Olbermann is the poster child for smug, liberal dumbasses.
Not Bob Costas???
Him too.
Stick to sports.
Have you ever felt his nipples when Costas is excited?
Sorry, but he'll always be ok in my book just for that scene alone.
The competition is ferocious.
How does that giant infected cock continue to get work?
Because he's a far left-wing JournoList shitheel, and 90% of all media entities are run by his fellow far-wing JournoList shitheels.
Olbermann ended up at ESPN? What does he do there?
Get suspended.
Act like a petulant child.
So, same as his last gig at ESPN?
He has a show that nobody watches. Just like his gigs everywhere else.
Hence, liberals lash out like immature children when people have the temerity to ignore their enlightened views.
How stupid are people to not watch ME!?
I'm sure dan patrick watches it. I remember listening to them- a while back- both go on forever making fun of Craig Kilborn and what a loser he was. It was the most petty, obvious jealousy I've ever heard.
I was not huge Kilborn fan, but he started the daily show and had a decent run on the late late show- I didn't have respect for Olberman or patrick, but if I had I would have lost it then.
Patrick is a whiny bitch on his own show most of the time.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D) failed to get 50 percent of the vote...
Rahm sent fish to the wrong people or didn't send fish to the right people?
He's got a crisis...will he let it go to waste I wonder?
Rahm pissed off black people in Chicago by closing a bunch of schools then a long shot black candidate got just enough of the black vote to deny him a victory without a runoff.
I don't think there's any chance Chuy Garcia wins just because Rahm is going to clean house in those black districts now that there's no other candidate to get votes out there.
"Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D) failed to get 50 percent of the vote and will have to face Jesus "Chuy" Garcia in an April run-off"
So it's Emanuel vs. Jesus.
Interesting match-up.
This fucking town is just like the goddamned Middle East.
28) So the DHS could be shut down in a few days. So far as I can tell, its most visible component, the TSA, does next to nothing to reduce the risk of violence on airline flights. I'm not sure the TSA is really necessary at all. I mean, I've ridden Amtrak and Greyhound, and you don't have to go through metal detectors and patdowns to ride on the trains or buses. And even with the many sketchy characters on your average Greyhound ride, how often is there a violent incident on a bus? Everybody will bring up 9/11?but the strategy of the 9/11 terrorists didn't even last the whole day. There have been numerous times since then when passengers on flights have taken it upon themselves to subdue violent individuals. Of course, the real threat to an airplane is from a bomb in a suitcase, but it's not really clear to me what advantage there is in the feds running a luggage screening system, rather than airlines doing it themselves. I say, bring the shutdown on, and let's see what happens. My guess is: absolutely nothing.
I am really hoping that the terrorists come up through Mexico and attempt some sort of attack on a Texas mall.
That may enlighten them as to who they're dealing with.
I would assume they would be smart enough to attack a mall in a state where there is no CCW, like New Jersey. Or a "gun free" mall.
Or a "gun free" mall.
The Washington Mall?
Or the Mall of America, which prohibits carrying on their property.
When the #BlackLivesMatter protest happened at the Mall a lot of the statists totally backed the cops over reaction and said that the MOA was private property and they could ban whatever protests they wanted.
Now they are all arguing that the MOA is not really private property and they shouldn't be able to ban guns there.
Funny how it is always principals and not principles.
Are you talking about the National Mall or the Mall of America which is in Minneapolis? Cause the one in MN is private (and has lego land, and a water slide, and a chocolate store for BDSM).
a chocolate store for BDSM
Bondage, Discipline, and Sado-Massicism?
WTF are you doing to/with the chocolate?
It was an awesome store. Not just BDSM I guess, there was a lot of other kink in there.
Or the Mall of America, which prohibits suggests not carrying on their property
The Terrorists have already won in NJ.
The smart terrorist would pick a mall where there IS CCW. Because a good terrorist will plant bombs and detonate them which a handgun can't stop. This will get progs/loonies in Austin in an uproar about CCW being ineffective and therefore unnecessary. And the Texas-sized police boners in denying rights will last forever.
Jesus, man. I'm in Laredo today. Don't say shit like that.

If they go to Pasadena Town Square Mall no one would even notice. However, they would get murdered if they tried anything.
If I were a terrorist I would simply set off a bomb in a crowded TSA line.
Yep. I showed up at JFK one day and thought, "why bother smuggling a bomb through? There's 200 or more people packed together right here, just detonate it now."
If you have a buddy, he can be positioned to make a second attack on the fleeing survivors.
...I'm sure I'm on your list already! It's all just a joke, OK?
I've often thought that our current "mooing herd" based security practices just increased the soft targets for terrorists.
Why go through security, when you'll never get a higher body count that shooting/blowing up security?
Not only that, but it is before security so you don't need to limit yourself to what you can sneak through screening. So you could take a carry-on sized rolling bag filled with explosives and shrapnel right to the middle of the line.
Do it during Christmas or Thanksgiving travel season and you'll shut the country down for a month.
Excuse me while I get into a submissive position for my visit from the local authorities.
I mean, I've ridden Amtrak and Greyhound, and you don't have to go through metal detectors and patdowns to ride on the trains or buses.
For the love of god, don't give them ideas!
I've read that it's already in the works.
They already have cops and K9 units patrolling the NJ Transit terminals.
They do random bag searches at PATH and of course the NYC subway. Or they used to until it got to be 10 or below every day the last couple months - too cold to bother keeping us safe I guess. I would like to see them try to elevate this to TSA-style gropes-for-all; I don't think people will tolerate for very long adding an extra hour to their commute every day.
"Well, if it helps keep us all safe I'll do my part and get up a little earlier."
See VIPR...
That's because no one rides buses but poor people- and no one ride amtrak but morons.
I've been considering Amtrak for the next time I go to Boston. It's easier than driving, no need to find parking, and they've got a bar car.
When I lived in Texas I took Amtrak to Oklahoma. It took the same amount of time and I could watch the scenery while drinking.
The horrible sweaty nightmare of the political classes: the hoi polloi discovering that a government shutdown does them no harm.
^^THIS^^
Clinton was smart enough to know a government shutdown would have zero impact, and was able to score a huge political win with a shutdown. Obozo and the modern day democratic party has painted itself in to a corner such that they must try and keep the fa?ade alive that a government shutdown is the end of the world in order to preserve the "we need an ever-expanding state" idea alive.
TSA airline screeners are 'essential employees' and so are required to work even during a 'shutdown'. In fact, 87% of DHS employees are so classified.
So a shutdown would actually mean pretty much nothing. It's all just more DC bullshit to dazzle and confuse the rubes.
Look up VIPR if you want to see the TSA's scary involvement with other kinds of transport.
Violence or terrorism on planes really isn't any more likely than on any other form of transport. Probably much less, really since you will get arrested if you create a disturbance on a plane. The difference is that buses and trains make much less effective weapons and can easily be stopped once under way.
I would like to keep my temper in check for awhile today, so I'll pass for now.
Probably a good plan.
I hope my TWIC card gets processed before they shut down. I only did the interview/biometrics part in mid-December. 10 weeks later they claim to be in the process of making the fucking card. On the plus side, I get to skip the RapiScan for five years.

Walker Has Strong Early Lead In Iowa GOP Caucus, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Conservative Base With Large Dose Of Tea Party
PPP's newest national Republican poll finds a clear leader in the race for the first time: Scott Walker is at 25% to 18% for Ben Carson, 17% for Jeb Bush, and 10% for Mike Huckabee. Rounding out the field of contenders are Chris Christie and Ted Cruz at 5%, Rand Paul at 4%, and Rick Perry and Marco Rubio at 3%.

A Democrat on the Federal Communications Commission wants to narrow the scope of net neutrality regulations before tomorrow's vote.
But he'll vote for it either way.
I respectfully asked my congresscreature to get the vote delayed until the public can see the regs, so ... yes.
Can Congress even get a say? It's a regulatory vote.
I'm assuming that, for some reason, the FCC doesn't have to go through notice-and-comment rulemaking (the same procedure that just go Obama's amnesty thrown out).
Because adopting rules that have never even been published isn't notice-and-comment rulemaking.
I told my congress cretin that if he supported the FCC regs i would work my ass off to ensure he never gets re-elected, and that if he were to support it that i hope history brands him as the traitor it would make him.

After 8 centuries, rats exonerated in spread of Black Death. Gerbils implicated.
There are gerbils in Europe? If they spread widely enough to cause the Black Plague, shouldn't there then still be gerbils living in parts of the continent?
The gerbils didn't go to Europe, their fleas got a ride with Silk Road traders and their animals.
The underlying message is that man-made climate change could cause another plague.
If so, the underlying message is not very well thought-out, since the Black Plague took part in a period when Europe was cooling.
Climate change isn't limited to warming. It means anything unusual, like "wet spring followed by a warm summer." Got drought? Blame climate change. Got floods? Blame climate change. There's nothing it cannot do.
Got dandruff - blame climate change! ("We evolved in an XYZ environment, it's now unnatural!")
nothing it cannot doBesides find a new stable equilibrium.
Damnit. I thought it was just an interesting new theory.
Motherfucking shit, why can't we just learn something interesting about climate without it being a whole thing.
In any case, I woudl imagine that these climate patterns have continued and didn't stop in the 15th century. The lack of plague probably has something to do with the fact that there aren't large numbers of pack animals traveling between Asia and Europe anymore.
I heard the story on NPR on the morning drive, and they were definitely hinting that climate change could cause it to happen again.
I think I heard that too. I think I must just tune out those insinuations at this point.
NPR is pretty much my only mainstream news source besides random thing on the internet. If you can ignore their idiocy about guns and climate change and a few other things, I think their straight reporting is really quite good.
I listen to it mainly because I hate commercials.
More likely the Black Death already killed off everyone it could kill off. That's how natural herd immunity develops.
I don't think that is it. Plague still exists in Asia. It just doesn't have a way to get to Europe anymore since animals aren't making that trip (and those that do are checked for disease or quarantined). I doubt that many Europeans have much immunity to plague. It's just that with modern sanitation, and the fact that plague can be treated with antibiotics, it just isn't going to be a problem where there isn't a large natural reservoir for it.
The plague DNA unearthed from plague pit skeletons is a different clade than modern y. pestis. It mutated to new forms just like Spanish Flu did.
Which would seem to support the idea that Europeans probably have no particular immunity to the plague that is around today. Of course it mutated. But it can still cause nasty illness and there is some reason why it doesn't show up in the West anymore.
Flea spray.
People still catch the plague every year in the US, mostly (I believe) in the Southwest.
I find it hard to believe that any disease vector wouldn't find it easier to get around now compared to back when walking was top speed.
With the current record of tree ring science, I'm gonna have to wait on this one.
While it probably isn't a great proxy for temperature records, tree rings are a pretty good indication of how wet or dry a particular year was.

Children need to be "protected" from religious indoctrination in schools, biologist and atheist campaigner Richard Dawkins has said, backing a campaign by Atheist Ireland to overhaul our education system.
Speaking to The Irish Times in advance of a public talk at Trinity College Dublin on Tuesday evening, Prof Dawkins said: "There is a balancing act and you have to balance the rights of parents and the rights of children and I think the balance has swung too far towards parents?
"Children do need to be protected so that they can have a proper education and not be indoctrinated in whatever religion their parents happen to have been brought up in."
http://www.irishtimes.com/news.....-1.2116281
Right idea but wrong argument. Schools should be secular if they receive any voucher or tax money and all discussion of "rights" are unnecessary.
Reason should support Dawkins if "free minds" are still important.
"Should the enemy dare to invade our country, annihilate them to the last man so that none of them will survive to sign the instrument of surrender!"
Say, is that the strong wind of fish farming I smell?
Balance "the rights of children"? I think the rights of parents supercede the rights of the state 100 times out of 100.
I agree that any school which gets state money should be secular though.
Actually, let me rephrase. I don't think a school that gets voucher money should be forced to be secular. But if a school gets money directly from the state, they should not have any religious bent.
In a perfect world there just wouldn't be any public schools, but so long as there are, they should be entirely secular.
Agreed, but Dawkins doesn't want secular schools, he wants atheist schools. He doesn't want kids indoctrinated by his parents, he wants to indoctrinate them in to a warped mindset that automatically rejects parents.
Fuck Dawkins.
Parents don't have the right to demand that I pay for their child's religious indoctrination via vouchers/taxes.
Parents don't have the right to demand that I pay for their child's education.
So stop doing so.
You know well what the consequences of that would be.
So they shouldn't talk about global warming in public schools?
Holy crap, I agree with PB.
I also think we should ban money from other foreign governments from being used to run schools in Western countries. You have Saudi funded Wahhabist madrassas in Virginia preaching all kinds of crazy, radical shit and we shouldn't let foreign propaganda factories operate on American soil
Also in our prisons, no less.
"Children do need to be protected..."
Who gets to decide that, and what by what criteria? What is that but indoctrinating children in what Dawkins believes by the heavy hand of the state?
I had to take Religion in German public school, even though I didn't believe any of it. It was no big deal. I could have taken a heathen Ethics class instead but that was at night at the university and I was too lazy for that.
Insanity Defense Rejected in Slayings, says jury
A judge in Texas on Tuesday sentenced a Marine veteran to life in prison without parole after jurors rejected an insanity defense in the 2013 slaying of "American Sniper" Chris Kyle and his friend, Chad Littlefield.
Judge Jason Cashon sentenced defendant Eddie Ray Routh, 27, for shooting the two men at a gun range, report the New York Times, the Washington Post and USA Today. Jurors deliberated for a little more than two hours before convicting Routh.
Kyle was the Navy Seal sniper portrayed in the movie American Sniper.

See my comment above...
In no fucking WAY, SHAPE OR FORM are you a "classic liberal" or "pro-capitalist". You claim Obama DECREASED the deficit!
You are a intellectually dishonest dipshit.
And you're just wrong. Obama has decreased the deficit (not debt) in real numbers, percent of GDP, and percent of federal spending.
http://www.bloomberg.com/polit.....-no-credit
The "debt" is the accumulation of deficits. A $10 DEFICIT would be a remarkable achievement but would add to the DEBT.
"...we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless..."
Your own link:
"Deficit shrinks to lowest level OF THIS PRESIDENCY..."
AS I said. A dipshit. And intellectually dishonest THROUGH AND THROUGH.
You are such a shitty troll.
The first fiscal year of Nixon's presidency (1969), the deficit decreased by $159.8b (2005 chained). Was this Johnson's or Nixon's doing?
The first year of Carter's presidency, the deficit decreased by $77.5b. Ford's or Carter's doing?
The first year of Reagan's presidency, the deficit decreased by $6.2b. Carter's or Reagan's doing?
The first year of Bush I's presidency, the deficit decreased by $12.5b. Reagan's or Bush's doing?
The first year of Clinton's presidency, the deficit decreased by $56.4b. Bush's or Clinton's doing?
The first year of GWB's presidency, the deficit jumped by $126b. Clinton's or Bush's fault?
How you answer those questions will determine how you feel about shriek's assertion. It's all an exercise in trying to stick the tar baby of 2009 on the other President.
I will give the 2009 deficit to Bush, albeit with on caveat: Obama actually deserves a large share of the blame for Bush's last deficit since earlier in 2008 year he pushed through both an "omnibus" spending bill and the so-called "stimulus" bill that increased FY2009 spending.
With that caveat you can practically hang the whole thing on Obama's head. He wanted a permanently distorted (enlarged baseline) from which to continue spending.
But 2009 deficit aside. How have the deficits been all the other years?
The annual CBO report of JAn 9, 2009 said the deficit would be $1.2 trillion. Look it up.
No Obama policy had been enacted of course.
Quite large yet shrinking rapidly. I agree with your overall assessment; Bush created the initial problem and Obama used this emergency spending as a new normal. That's the norm with Federal spending though, not the exception.
The problem is that revenue has not yet come up enough to compensate for that new normal the way that it has in the past, which is why leaving it there is so reckless. We're on a war footing with no enemy to fight.
The puzzle is, how can the deficit be less than a trillion for FY14, when the debt has increased by more than trillion for FY14?
And the fact that you think that Obama had anything to do with it shows how stupid you are.
A correct statement would be that during the course of the Obama Presidency the Deficit has fallen.
Claiming that Obama actually had anything to do with that reduction however is either utter idiocy, hero worship, or active lying.
The deficit was reduced during Obama's Presidency because he got 4 years worth of spending increases passed in his first 6 months (aka the stimulus) which established record high levels of deficit spending. Then he failed to even try to pass a budget for the next 5 years so the government just kept spending the same money they had in year 1. As the economy finally started to recover and taxes (also passed in his first 6 months in office) from Obamacare began to phase in tax reciepts began to rise.
So Obama's deficit reduction plan was basically ...
"Spend a shit ton of money and pass some future tax increases that don't go into effect until after his reelection is secured then do a whole bunch of nothing"
Wrong.
The reasons the deficit has fallen since 08/09:
Budget Act of 2011 (sequester cuts)
Tax hike to 39.6% from 35%
Medicare subsidy cuts
Lower rate of federal medical spending
improved economy - 10 million new private sector jobs

There was a thread recently where ermagerd Walker dinn't finnish collidge or something...Bo was outraged and distraught that Team Red would even consider nominating such an un-elitist, un-credentialled charlatan whereas the commentariat was nonplussed...I think it went rapidly downhill from there.
Why do people feel the need to mischaracterize Bo's arguments like this? Many of them are perfectly capable of falling on their own.
Also, those who seriously equate Bo with the Plug are either disingenuous, trolling or just idiots. The Plug is in a realm unto himself.
I find the plug to be more tolerable than Bo actually.
No argument from me there.
I find that...enlightening.
And I disagree with Bo 100% on that as long as Walker does not misrepresent himself.
As I recall, Bo was arguing that the optics of Walker's educational resume would play poorly with the electorate, not that his lack of degree made him unqualified for the position. Your mileage may vary.
And when I mentioned something I did in college, not mentioning that it was almost 25 years ago, Bo accused me of being a credentialist.
I'm no fan of Bo, but c'mon man -- we all know that's not what his argument was.
I suspect that many who block Bo really are made uncomfortable by some of his arguments, although I suppose that his sophomoric tenacity could be to blame in cases of those too lazy to scroll.
Oh certainly, who wouldn't want to read one of those Bo vs John shite-fest threads of 100 extra posts!

Does John get blocked, I wonder? I find him often irritating, occasionally insightful, and periodically entertaining, just like Bo. And he may be a Team Red symp, but he's our Team Red symp, damn it!
John, for all his faults, at least tends to recognize after his more extreme rants that he's been a cunt and apologizes for it.
I don't mind Bo all that much, in fact I kind of like him. I also liked MNG too. I'm just weird that way, I guess.
The problem I have with Bo is he seems to be constantly trying to engage in attempts at gothcya with his own version of the Socratic method. That's fine, I guess, but when it goes against him he immediately runs for cover with deflections, deception or feigned ignorance. I can see where it gets tiresome for some.
Law school. Life will eventually beat it out of him.
You summarized his "style" very well.
That's pretty much what I think of Bo as well. He seems to be genuine enough. He just doesn't know when to quit and has some weird obsession with rooting out conservatives. Which understandably annoys some people.
To equate him with Tulpa or Buttplug isn't really fair.
This, pretty much. I see him as Blue John. Both can be entertaining and interesting at times, but both have the unfortunate habit of dying on stupid fucking hills, e.g. 'I don't understand why 'Uncle Tom' is an offensive term,' body armor, etc.
"Longtime commenter KLafayette"
I've been blocking Bo for a long time. His constant SnoConz hunts and "libertarian purity" tests were enough to put me off.
There's a law school term - Gunner - that describes him to a T.
Bingo. He's a classic half-smart law school gunner.
" sophomoric tenacity "
Bingo. Every once in a while, I'll read something that he's posted that is actually insightful and provides a fresh angle which challenges me to re-examine something I'd previously accepted as a given. The other 99% of the time? It's him shitting all over a thread, arguing some point that's already been disproven, (The "worst thing since/than slavery" misunderstanding immediately springs to mind) often using some ridiculous semantic excuse to keep tilting at those uneducated windmills.
Bingo. That's the one that did it for me.
We're all Team Red CoConzz. The commenter trolling the Blue Tulpa sockpuppet is the only True Libertarian.
"SoConz"
Is it really so hard to believe that someone might actually, genuinely be like that?
I don't block him and I do read his stuff sometimes. My main reason for disliking him so much is that he is 2L that acts like he knows everything there is to know about the law. I hope I encounter him in court one day.
For me it was one of the many times when he blatantly mischaracterized what someone said, got called on it, but plowed ahead anyway as if nothing happened. Just got fed up with the constant arguing in bad faith.
I don't know about everyone else, but I got annoyed by his 4 or 5 day streak of having meltdowns and started reminding people that they don't need to talk to him, and should expect tedious and niggling arguments if they do. It's been...let's say...unsuccessful at preventing more meltdowns.
He kinda snapped a few weeks ago. Maybe he got fed up with how he was treated and went for broke, or he was having life troubles (I speculated bad exams), but he suddenly got more aggressive with his "call out socons" schtick. At one point he went full Shriek and accused posters of taking their cues from Rush Limbaugh.
I don't block him (or anyone else), but I no longer bother defending him.
For the record i stillbelieve Bo is MNG and am begining to believe MNG/Bo is a creation of John so he can fuck with us.
Germany's Schaeuble: credibility of new Greek plan still in doubt
Does Greece have so much debt that now its not their problem but is Germany's problem?
No. German banks have almost no exposure to Greece. The ESFS and ECB are holding the bag.
Who funds the ESFS and ECB?
They are self funded - like our Fed. Of course the Germans have an entirely rational position and Greece does not.
Greece is dependent on the largesse of the ECB and that has to stop before it becomes an uncontrollable contagion.
Contrary to widely held opinions money does truly grow on trees.
(Reuters) - German banks have about 23.5 billion euros ($28 billion) in credit exposure to Greece, but the systemic risk is limited because the biggest commercial banks, Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE) and Commerzbank (CBKG.DE), hold only a tiny fraction of that, according to figures gathered by Reuters.
The lion's share of German exposure is held by the state-owned development bank KfW, with lending to the Greek state totaling 15 billion euros, banking industry group BdB said.

The new Great Greek Socialist Hope sold out approximately 0.003 seconds after taking office. That has to be a new record. I know a researcher in the building who flew home just to vote for the guy.
It's almost like, despite his populist rhetoric, he just wanted power. But that never happens.
It's also possible he believed his rhetoric, got into office and tried to get the Germans to agree to his demands, Merkel laughed in his face, and he realized he had no bargaining power.
He was playing poker with unmatched low cards.

Seems legit.

ONly if they are statues of a mobius strip.
"So even though Latina women and black women earn between 54 percent and 64 percent, respectively, on every dollar a white man makes, somehow we manage to save even less of that money or turn it into wealth."
In other words she wants women of color to be paid more than everyone else. She wants to exchange places with those she claims are oppressing her. No surprise.
She should start her own business.
"As a 2010 study illustrated, black women have $100 and Latinas have $120 of median net wealth for every $41,500 that white women have."
Isn't it possible that part of the problem here is that white women are much more likely to be married and be in a two earner household, whereas black and Latina women have gigantic rates of out of wedlock birth that results in women trying to raise two or three kids on a single income?
That can't be it though. Feminists continuously assure me that waiting until you're married to have kids is in no way linked to financial stability.

Another prediction whose failure will not sway the likes of Tony.
If you go the National Aquarium in Baltimore, at the rain forest exhibit there are still placards explaining that the Amazon rainforest will be completely deforested by 2003 if current trends continue. I always think of that when I hear predictions like this.
I think the arctic was supposed to be ice free several times already.
Oh, and did you hear? The Antarctic ice cap is already collapsing and it is too late to do anything about it.
It was supposed to be ice-free at the same exact time as Voyager left the solar system.
I think Canada deserves some heat.
Didn't we already have a prediction of an ice free arctic that failed to come to fruition?
Why yes, yes we did.

I like how they put a picture of the guy who talked to them as the lead and no picture of the perp. How pissed would you be if you Nathan Patterson?
I like how Patterson refers to the perp -- who groped the guy's girlfriend -- as a "gentleman".
To be fair, that picture totally looks like a guy who just pleasured himself on an airplane.
so I see salon still has zero interesting content. At least slate has put up some interesting pieces of late.
Slate is 1000x better than Salon. Slate publishes very good articles periodically, especially some of Emily Yoffe's on the college 'rape epidemic.'
I really have no problem with Slate. They publish some dumb stuff (especially everything from Alec MacGillis) but overall they aren't anywhere near as bad as Salon.
Since when does the Christian right advocate becoming a Muslim? Worse, isn't implying that Muslims beat their wives racist?
There's an absurd Pat Robertson quote in that article where Robertson was giving relationship advice on the 700 club, and told a man that his wife was too uppity so he could always 'become a Muslim and beat her.'
When asked to clarify, he apparently said he wasn't joking and that 'we look down on wife beating in this day and age, but something has to be done about her.'
Pat Robertson is literally insane.
Wow.
And of course he must represent all Christians.
That is right. But people who burn people alive in the name of Islam or in now way Islamic. ISIS says nothing about Islam but Pat Robertson and the Crusades are all you need to know about Christianity.

Sexual "violence" that has no name. This one really takes the cake. As a very recent grad, every time I read about the college experience now, I can't help but think about "The Sopranos" pilot when Tony laments about getting in at the very end when all the good times had passed, and it now it's all irreparably downhill from here (referring to the mafia in today's country; ostensibly also a metaphor for America, and an applicable sentiment to other things).

It's the new lobster girl.
Its cat girl.
I bit of sleuthing (right click on the image, view image info, google the filename minus the underscores, find Instagram page for photographer, find model's name, google it...) found her to be a model named Shaun Tia. Type "shaun tia model" into google images. Good enough to eat.
Wow, thanks.

Close, but not quite that level!
I like her better. She is more natural looking than lobster girl. And she is a ginger, which means she is nuts and no doubt better in bed.
Yeah, me too. Pistols at dawn? 20 paces?

Warty Hugeman and The Endless Asshole: A Warty Hugeman Time Travel Adventure: Part 2 (of 6)
Hours later the two indefatigable analnauts stood on the rim of the huge buttal cleft that split open the face of Balloonknot.
"It's down there, Simon. I wish there was some other way, but this giant hunk of butt is blocking our sensors. Unless we go spelunking, we'll never know how Balloonknot works."
"I was not programmed to feel fear, Warty Hugeman. You taught me that. I can delete those files if you wish."
"No, Simon. Feeling fear when confronted with a rectal opening large enough to use a mountain as a butt plug is what being human is all about."
Warty and Simon dove off the edge of the cleft and descended rapidly down the foul decline, even swinging from asshair to asshair occasionally, like the apes one of them was a close cousin to. They rested when they were nearly to the bottom, perched on a skin tag as large as a sailing ship of old. It was dark down by the craterous anus, and both had sifted to false color light amplification.
"How does something like this even work, Simon? I mean, we can't find a mouth or other openings, but this is all living flesh. Shouldn't it just be frozen solid?" Warty ruminated.
"I do not know, Warty Hugeman. Most living creatures with an anus also have a mouth, making sentients like you [toroidal/doughnut-shaped]." Simon said.
Warty jerked at the insertion of the timesuit's translator to provide equivocation of what Simon had expressed. It did it constantly in his early interactions with Simon, almost making anything Simon said into indeterminate gibberish. Hearing it now set off an alarm in a small backroom of Warty's mind.
"But the connection of the mouth and the anus doesn't have to strictly physical," Simon continued. "Perhaps the mouth of this creature is thousands of light years away and the waste it generates is translocated to this organ who's function is strictly execratory. "
The alarm in Warty's mind grew louder. Something was very wrong.
"I note a posture of alarm, Warty Hugeman," Simon transmitted subvocally.
"It's too soon," Warty said. "Given the projections, we still had hours before the next one."
"What is it?" Simon asked.
"Fartquake. FARTQUAKE!" Warty screamed.

Eight California state legislators, in a Feb. 17 letter to Archbishop Cordileone, called on him to withdraw the morality clauses. Although they acknowledged he has "discretion over working conditions" at the schools, they claimed the standard for high school staff and faculty "infringes on the personal freedoms of their employees" and "sends an alarming message of intolerance to youth."
The legislators claimed the standards "conflict with settled areas of law" and "foment a discriminatory environment" in the community. They suggested that religious freedom exemptions in federal law are being used as "a tool for discrimination."

And how many divisions does the Bishop have?
They suggested that religious freedom exemptions in federal law are being used as "a tool for discrimination."
And? Religions do a lot of discriminating. Unsurprisingly, the San Franciscan activists don't really get the whole "freedom" thing.
Report: Anti-Semitism Soaring on U.S. College Campuses
They always go for the Jews. Inside any leftist is a Anti-Semite trying to get out or if they are Jewish an overwhelming sense of self loathing.
If you are inclined to believe in such things, there really is something super natural about antisemitism. No matter how big the world gets or how small and unimportant the Jews become in relation to it, antisemitism is always there.
Also, he didn't have to lie. I am sure being a Ranger is no small feat, so why lie to a person who is no one important?
Oops... Wrong spot.
Inside any leftist is a Anti-Semite trying to get out or if they are Jewish an overwhelming sense of self loathing.
Yeah, there are no leftists in Israel, no such thing as a Kibbutz and most American Jews are right wingers and don't support Israel almost blindly. Come on.
There is certainly a lot of really odd (to me) antisemitism in the world. But a lot really is anti-Israel, not anti-Jewish. I think that is largely misguided too, but plenty of people really do maintain that distinction. I don't know why some people can't accept that people can be anti-Zionist without being an antisemite.
No Zeb, it is not anti-Israel. If it were, they would hold other countries to anything approaching the same standard. It is antisemitism dressed up as anti Zionism or concern for human rights. Sorry, if you only care about human rights in relation to the world's only Jewish state, your problem is with Jews not Israel.
And Israelis are religious socialists. Every other country besides Israel, the farther left it goes, the more antisemitic it becomes. The Jews are always the canaries in the coal mine when it comes to fascism, be it in its right wing or communist form.
I never said that such people don't exist or that there are not lots of them on college campuses (and even more in Europe). I was responding specifically to "Inside any leftist is a Anti-Semite trying to get out". That is not true. There are tons of leftists who fully support Israel and don't have weird ideas about what the Joos are up to. "Inside a lot of college students and other leftists" I would have more or less agreed with. It's just the "everyone who disagrees with me has sinister motivations" crap that bugs me. It's the same damn thing as saying that the only reason not to like Obama is racism.
I am sure not every Nazi thought the death camps were a good idea. In the end though, if they are leftists there are strains of antisemitism in their thinking even if they don't know it. Talk to your friends about bankers and wall street and "speculators" sometime. Where do you think that animosity come from?
If they are leftists they believe in collective guilt, either on the basis of race, economic class or both. And antisemitism is nothing but the oldest and mother of all collective guilt. For whatever reason, the later and more sophisticated forms of collective guilt never quite shake their antisemitic origins.
And I am sorry Zeb, but if your friends are leftists, they do have sinister motives.
Bullshit. Most people are motivated by wanting to be one of the cool kids, not some secret ideology. You seem to assume that most people have a deeper motivation for their political beliefs and I really don't think that is the case.
I think you are mixing up the cause and effect with the "bankers and speculators". People hated Jews because they were bankers, they don't hate bankers because they are Jews. Distrust of people who make money by lending at interest or speculating in markets is foolish, but pretty understandable.
And a number of my liberal Jewish friends are bankers and rich Wall Street people and seem pretty comfortable with their Jewishness and their wealth.
You are way overgeneralizing. There are lots of ways to arrive at similar beliefs about things.
Talk to your friends about bankers and wall street and "speculators" sometime. Where do you think that animosity come from?
Envy. Just because (most) antisemites are also economic illiterates doesn't mean every economic illiterate is an antisemite.
Yeah, envy, plus ignorance of economics and the nature of wealth, seems to explain it pretty well.
Also, Zeb, RTFA. What started on college campuses as being "anti-Israel" has now morphed into straight out antisemitism. The antisemitism was always there, they just no longer feel the need to hide it.
And yes, campus activists are mostly idiots living in fantasy land.
No Zeb, they are just honest leftists. They are nothing but what leftists would be if they felt the confidence and power to be able to do so.
Oh, for fuck's sake. Obviously I think leftists are wrong about many things. But there are plenty of motivations for that sort of thinking besides "the Jews". Yes, those activists who are now being openly antisemitic are being honest, or letting the mask slip. That doesn't mean that that is the only motivation for anyone who has similar political beliefs. Israel itself was founded as a socialist state. Does that mean that Zionists are actually secret antisemites?
Service in the Special Forces is the new Participation Trophy.
VA chief falsely claimed special forces service
Of all the military lies to tell, that is the dumbest one. The Special Forces is a very small and close knit community that is forever on the look out for fakers. There are a million casual lies about military service that can be told and easily gotten away with. The SF one is one of the few that no one ever gets away with. What a clown.
Also, he didn't have to lie. I am sure being a Ranger is no small feat, so why lie to a person who is no one important?
Exactly - when I was considering signing up, I wanted to become a Ranger. (or a helicopter pilot- ha!)
Frankly, being a Ranger would be more fun in a lot of ways. Rangers are just really kick ass infantry. SF are more trainers and such. Rangers take down airports and shit like that. SF guys train natives how to fight.

Obama's Keystone Veto Is a Victory for the Lunatic Left
Google the John Judis article rethinking his 2003 claim of the coming Democratic majority. He know thinks it might be a Republican one because the Democrats appear to have completely lost the middle class.
The worst news for the Democrats in the Judis piece is that they are not just losing middle class whites, who are almost as far gone to the Democrats as blacks are to Republicans, they are losing middle class Hispanics. Interestingly enough, Hispanics, once they get a job and make a little money, don't like getting fucked by the government anymore than anyone else does.
Obama has done nothing but accelerate the already damaging trend of the Democrats being the party of the super rich and the poor. That formula might work in a third world country but it is a disaster in a country with any kind of wealth. Yes, I know they are doing everything they can to produce more poor people, but they seem to not to be creating them fast enough.
That formula might work in a third world country
Hence the strategery to turn the US into one?
Pretty much. It is a race, can the Progressives transform America into a third world shit hole before the America wakes up and stops them. Their goal is to fundamentally transform the country into Venezuela or Argentina; a poorer nastier place that is easier to manipulate and exploit.
Go read about the coming Republican majority, from the guy who was wrong about a coming Democratic majority?
The Pipeline has overwhelming public support. If the republicans had any balls, they would tie funding of Homeland Security to approval of the Pipeline, and shove it right down his fucking throat.
