Brickbat: 'If You Make 10,000 Regulations, You Destroy All Respect for the Law'
Churchill Academy in North Somerset, England, placed Stan Lock, 13, in isolation from other students after he shaved his head for charity. Officials said his shaved head did not meet the school's dress and grooming code and told him he'd remain in isolation until his hair grew out. But after news of the suspension spread, the school's headmaster said he would "review" the punishment.

How does that not meet dress code? That was one of the two most common hairstyles worn in my school.
If anything, the 'before' picture would have gotten more flak.
Skinhead Skool sounds like a reality show
Should I also have mentioned that the school was majority non-white?
I WANT TO WATCH BLACK SKINHEAD SKOOL RIGHT NOW
I've heard of zero tolerance, but comb on this is a hair too much.
The school should have brushed off this infringement. It's just nit-picking.
What a lousy pun, but it would explain why the hair had to go...
It's no skin off their ass.
It's barberous behavior!
Repeated joke, one pun penalty.
hangs head in shame
*takes clippers to gaijin's hair*
Amish Beard Shaving Hate Crime!!!!!
and I see TH beat me to the punch below.
Please suh, can I have s'more..hair?
Hindsight will show Stan Lock to be a key figure in exposing the shear lunacy of the zero-tolerance policies of these Barbary administrators.
The punishment was barberous, what a sham. Pooh on these administrators.
"But after news of the suspension spread, the school's headmaster said he would "review" the punishment."
If you never admit you're wrong, you lose all respect for the law.
He only said he'd review it. After review, he'll make the punishment harsher
"The ruling on the field is confirmed."
+1 red flag
Methinks collusion is the order of the day at Churchill Academy.
"We shall defend our rulebook, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the combs, we shall fight in the barber shops, we shall fight in the scalps and in the roots, we shall fight in the follicles; we shall never surrender."
Fighting NAZI lice?
Surprising evenhanded recounting of the Columbia "rapist" and his story:

The Daily Beast with an EVENHANDED point of view?!?! What's next? SLICED BREAD?!?!?
The story after it about changing one's mind about vaccination is mildly amusing:
I AM THE 99%!
But never more than is demanded, and never covering the tax bill for some other poor unfortuante soul, right?
And never directly to some poor family who is on hard times.
After all, they aren't TOP MEN. How can they be expected to be able to determine who is really worthy of getting a helping hand?
Office of Gender-Based Misconduct?
Haven't you ever watched Law & Order: Office of Gender-Based Misconduct, starring Suzanne Sommers and Pauly Shore?
"...and told him he'd remain in isolation until his hair grew out."
Define 'grew out'. If it reached 'crew cut' status would the kid be released?
How long is sufficient for the Head Master?
oi oi oi
I think isolating a student from his peers for breaking a dress or grooming code is excessive. Why not sternly address his infraction, meet with his parents, go over the codes, and encourage student and parents to avoid future infractions?
The reaction by the academy's staff seems to reinforce the idea that these heavy handed punishments are not meant to discipline children as much as they are meant to crush the spirit, not only of the child in question but his witness-peers as well.

In fact, that is exactly what they are designed to do. As my 10th grade English (a.k.a. "Language Arts") teacher pointed out back in the good ole' days (early 70') "society always destroys its non-conformists". The way she said it made me believe she thought this was a good thing.

But I repeat myself.
What do you mean?

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. And the reason 'review' of the punishment will result a compromise on its severity rather than the unequivocal apology and grovelling that is necessary.
"...and told him he'd remain in isolation until his hair grew out."
How about if he agreed to wear a toupee?
Also, I see the *head*master is imposing the punishment. I trust there an arsemaster for ensuring students' garments are sufficiently, um, ample.
No, no, they have The Bottom Inspectors
So does Texas.
The children have small bottoms, perhaps a little *too* small!
You didn't go with the reason link for the incident?
But they're English, won't they all enjoy the "punishment?" 😉
His classmates should join in for an "I am Spartacus" moment. Besides, for charity.
