For some reason I saw that as "The ears of big government".
Bok really did capture Bill's blow-job face rather well, but his Obama pegging face is a disappointment
In any event, put on your *slap!*ing face!
Bok forgot to label the teleprompter on the side of Bill's head.
Oh so that's what's floating by LoPan in the lower left - hovering teleprompters.
I think Kurt Russell is the only guy who actually looks better with a mullet.
"The name's Plissken."
I thought you were dead.
It's an imposter! That's not Snark Plissken!
Bok really paints on the ugly when drawing Barry-O. Especially compared to how he draws Clinton. Must be trying to capture their inner souls.
Soooo, about that body armor thread last night... tempers flared, things were said... I, uh, just...I guess what I'm trying to say is John's sorry his 'scripts ran out.. but today's a new day and it's Friday!
There's nothing special about fridays.
*slap!*
*slap!*
*SLAP!*
*SLAP!*
better late than never
(checks thread)
I love it when John gets mad, the typos are awesome.
Huh, I just checked it too. John really went off the rails on that one.
Not one of his finer moments.
Of course, we all have off days.
The thread was *spicy*!
'Scrips', his scrips ran out.
Uh, ok
Fair Weather Property Rights Defenders?
So last night I posted this link at the end of the body armor discussion:
"TransCanada Corp., the Canadian company behind the Keystone XL pipeline, filed eminent domain proceedings against an estimated 90 Nebraska landowners Tuesday to secure the right to build the controversial project across their property."
http://www.latimes.com/nation/.....story.html
Interestingly (or perhaps not), a lot of our Right-leaning posters rushed in to argue...nothing to see here, no big deal. I mean, as Gilmore said "Everyone's keeping overall ownership of their land whether or not ED gets used. Everyone's going to 'get paid,'" or as SIV put it "You can still farm and graze over the easement", or as The Late P Brooks says "it presents a fairly small intrusion into the daily lives of the people whose land it crosses."
So there you have it. Property rights are important to libertarians and all, but when the government forcibly takes your land and gives it to a third party business for something Really Important to 'Society'it's really not a big deal, especially when you can still use it for stuff.
Fair weather property rights supporters.
Well, I for one am against eminent domain here. If TransCanada wants to lay pipe it has to get affirmative consent first.
Hell, the gas company is about to rip up our yard in a couple of weeks and there isn't a damned thing I can do about it. The gas lines are fine, fucks. They don't need to be replaced!
What are you upset about? I'm sure it "it presents a fairly small intrusion into the daily lives of the people whose land it crosses."
Unless, of course, their land is near the Yellowstone River.
laying pipe - uh-huh uh-huh
the Canadian company behind the Keystone XL pipeline, filed eminent domain proceedings against an estimated 90 Nebraska landowners
This I disagree with. It's fine for the company to purchase rights to cross peoples land, but wrong for them to get the gov't to strong-arm property owners to give an easement through private property.
I'd like to know how much the use of ED is simply as a workaround to other existing, poorly thought-out (as if there were other kinds) Federal policy. I've heard it mentioned before that the review process for these types of projects necessitates complete knowledge of the route before construction begins, and any changes start the whole process over.
With the wheels of government moving as they do, it means that absent ED a series of intransigent landowners can torpedo a project with no realistic option available for infrastructure builders. If this is the case, it's another case of bad policy being used to remedy the effects of bad policy.
I think this gets to the heart of it. Plus, imagine a landowner gaining a ring around a city and shutting down all transit into/out without a large fee. Easements have to be part of private property ownership and sometimes it is justifiable to use force to gain them. Not sure about the Keystone case, yet, but common law should have some precedents, right?
It is difficult for me to understand why the line isn't laid on already existing right of ways. There are bound to be tons of them already.
Oh, wait. OK.
"Property rights are important to libertarians and all"
I say 'libertarians' because surely Gilmore, SIV and Brooks are libertarians, I'm not going to question that! The fact that this particular mass taking is something the GOP is currently prominently pushing and that the Democrat Party is prominently opposing (for stupid, non-property rights reasons of course, they are the Democrats after all) surely has nothing to do with this curious stance.
OT: Fun Fact, US Passports set off metal detectors - probably from the RFID screening mesh in the cover. It's really annoying crossing through a checkpoint without realizing I should have tossed the passport in the plastic tub with my keys.
So last night I posted this link at the end of the body armor discussion:
And then ran away. Not that I had any interest in actually reading any of your prissy whining.
You should consider adopting a similar stance toward responding too!
I suspect he is here for the attention.
I am here to learn more, enjoy the humor and because Pro L said he would drop about 134 tons of nickel-iron from orbit on my house if I didn't.
A Magnetic Meteor Manipulator? Interesting Idea. *Files thought for use in future story*
"Magnetic Meteor Manipulator"
Nice alliteration.
You're funny, Bo.
Bok has had three....not terrible... cartoons in a row.
*looks out window for rain of blood or frogs*
