Court Strikes Down North Carolina Voting Restrictions
Will have to reinstate same-day voter registration.
WASHINGTON -- A federal appeals court on Wednesday ordered a lower court to block two new voting restrictions in North Carolina, saying there was "no doubt" the measures would disenfranchise minorities.
North Carolina will now be required to reinstate same-day voter registration, as well as allow voters to cast ballots even if they show up to vote in the wrong precinct.
In a two-to-one ruling, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit ruled that "whether the number is thirty or thirty-thousand, surely some North Carolina minority voters will be disproportionately adversely affected in the upcoming election" and that it was important to act now, since "there could be no do-over and no redress" once the election was over.

How?
Because racism!!!! And because Ex-Prez BOOOOSCH....
So Black people can't read calenders, maps, or voter guides.
i don't have the ruling handy, but there was another judge, i think in north carolina actually, that quite eloquently and forcefully put down this nonsense. going to the right precinct doesn't disenfranchise anyone else apparently, and while everyone else is required, when the law says so, to vote on election day, that doesn't seem to be a burden for anyone else either. the argument is based on the idea of black people not being disenfranchised, but being so incapable they need extra help. it's all very sad and amusing in a way that will probably destroy us all one day.
