Sotloff Family: 'Moderate' Syrian Rebels Sold Reporter to ISIL for Cash

A spokesman for the family of murdered journalist Steven Sotloff claimed Monday night that Sotloff was sold to the terrorist group the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) by Syria's "so-called moderate rebels."

Sotloff family spokesman Barak Barfi, a foreign policy research fellow at the New American Foundation, made the startling claim in an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper.

"We believe that these so-called moderate rebels that people want our administration to support, one of them sold him probably for something between $25,000 and $50,000 to ISIS and that was the reason he was captured," Barfi said.

  1. We need to GTFO out of hte Middle East – everything situation that is implausibly projected to “do good” or “aid American interests” ends up being a disaster. The only reason anyone should be surprised by this is if they were dumb enough to believe (and can keep up with) the ever-shifting categorization of “good” guys and “bad” guys the media/white house/derps of both flavors paint to support and fuel the war-mongering and international meddling of politicians who think it’s their duty to poke their condescending noses into situations that don’t F’ing concern us.

Add in the whole “but THIS time it will be different!” mentality, and none of this should be a surprise. we have got to break the stupid cycle.
