German Artists Claim Responsibility for Brooklyn Bridge Stunt
Is this Merkel's way of getting back for all the espionage?
Two German artists have claimed responsibility for hoisting white flags on New York's Brooklyn Bridge last month in place of official US flags.
The act was a celebration of public art in the "global centre of creativity", the Berlin-based pair said.
It also marked the anniversary of the death in 1926 of the bridge's German-born architect, John August Roebling.

Looks like the BBC needs a better fact checker.
Actually, It was John August Roebling's son, Washington Roebling, who died in 1926. Washington took over the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge after his father died in 1869 after his foot was crushed while he was surveying the location of the Brooklyn end of the structure.
"...after his foot was crushed and he contracted tetanus..."
