Rev. Bud Green Claims 'New Pot Party' Planted Mysterious Brooklyn Bridge Flags

A man who goes by the name of Rev. Bud Green is taking responsibility for the mysterious white flags that arrived atop the Brooklyn Bridge last week. The stunt resulted in typical overreaction from the New York Police Department (NYPD), which announced soon thereafter that it was implementing "increased security measures on the Brooklyn Bridge… and other key facilities."
Now Rev. Bud Green is claiming his "New Pot Party" is behind the flags. In an interview with the Daily News, Green said "it was interesting that nobody knew what to make of it. It was interesting that people took it as a terror risk. We believe in nonviolent civil disobedience."
The Reverend first took credit for the flags on his blog:
Hello my fellow herb worshippers and revolutionaries. I can finally reveal that it was members of the New Pot Party that put up the bleached White Flags in NY that the whole country is talking about. The Flags symbolize the need for the new Pledge of No Allegiance that the Rev. Bud Green and the Pot Party revealed to the Public on the Fourth of July. On the night of July 22, brave members of the Pot Party and supporters of my candidacy for Prez in 2016 courageously climbed up and put up the new bleached flags.
The original plan was then to replace the bleached flags with 2 new flags but the fascist police prevented us from doing it with their constant surveillance. The 2 new flags were gonna be the Pot Party flag which is a marijuana leaf with the revolutionary slogan Don't Tread on Me to symbolize the beginning of a new American Revolution to be led by Pot Party Supporters.
The post goes on to bash "the Republicratic party," "the united corporations of America," the military industrial complex, "the evil one percent," the "right wing dictatorship," and rich pigs before concluding, "Put that it in your pipe and smoke it Fox News."
According to CBS New York, the NYPD said there was absolutely no truth to Green's claim.

Hell yes, I was hoping it would be buffoonery that planted those flags. Please let it be him.
The FLAGS
are too damned high!
Nice....double nice.
The 2 new flags were gonna be the Pot Party flag which is a marijuana leaf with the revolutionary slogan Don't Tread on Me...
But then I got high.
Don't forget to bring a towel!
Excellent. This thread is bringing out a lot of WIN.
How does anyone think that Democrats are any better than Republicans on prohibition at this point? They are both generally terrible.
because they are willfully stupid. Being liberal is heartfelt and well-meaning, ergo it is not possible that Democrats are voluntarily doing this; it's because Republicans "make" them.
Self identified Democrats are more likely to support marijuana decriminalization or legalization than self identified Republicans, but this does not hold true for elected officials.
That kind of gets to the root of my question. Why does so much of the legalization crowd still think Democrats are their friends? Somehow they have managed to maintain an image as the party of the cool kids. I suppose that may have as much to do with Republican idiocy as anything.
It's because to people who go for the Dems, words mean everything and actions mean nothing. As long as the Dems keep mouthing the right words, the same people who don't ever bother to require action to back up those words will keep supporting them. They're called useful idiots for a reason. The Republican base, for whatever personality reasons, tends to require some actual action from their politicians, even if they are disappointed most of the time.
What? How do you blame wilfull stupidity onto Republicans?
I think you misunderstand me. I'm talking about the branding that the parties manage to maintain somehow. For whatever reason, the Democrats are the party for the cool people and Republicans are old farts. I'm not saying that this is objectively true necessarily, but that that is the image that someone who doesn't pay a lot of attention gets and what the young hipsters who dominate the legalization movement tend to think. I think at least part of that can be attributed to the Republicans failure to address the fact that their current image is a dud with a lot of young people. I don't like that that is how politics works, but it does seem to be the case.
Why do you think they call it dope?
BAM!
According to the story above, he blamed the "Republicratic" party not the Republican Party.
I assume that's the same party as the "Demopublican" party. In that case, he's right.
Yeah, that was my assumption.
He could have just said 'Team Purple', then we all would have got it.
Why do you think they call it dope?
According to CBS New York, the NYPD said there was absolutely no truth to Green's claim.
Harmless goofballs do not advance the narrative.
Now that they've thrown down the "terrorist" gauntlet, it can't be anything else. They won't allow it.
Exactly. Pretty difficult to secure extra funding to defend against Rev. Bud Green and his Pot Party, so it must be some evil geniuses. We're gonna need a new HQ at a minimum to deal with this, and probably some military hardware.
Yes, because obviously terrorists would cleverly avoid the security on the Brooklyn Bridge and then do nothing but put up some flags that in no way identify their intentions. Or maybe it means that the terrorists are surrendering and we can stop the war on terror crap now.
"the evil one percent,"
One wonders if he includes the very wealthy supporters of legalization efforts in many states without which the movement likely would not be nearly as successful as it has been.
Well, of course I don't wonder, he doesn't out of of foolishness.
You could tell Rev. Green that the KKKoch Bros. support marijuana legalization, but he'd call you a liar.
I don't have a lot to go on here, but I'd bet some cash that a larger proportion of the 1% are for legalization than of the rest of the population.
Didn't analysis show that the wealthy (making more than $200,000 per year) favored Obama over Romney with their contributions? So why is it still widely thought that the Republicans are the "party of the rich?" [We all know that the party of the rich is really us libertarians with our monocle factories, child labor coal mines, and earthquake making oil drills.]
Those are oil-producing earthquake drills, actually. Petroleum is just an afterthought.
Democrat = party of the new aristocracy and their loyal mobs
Republican = party of the middle class who foolishly think they'll should keep what they earn.
Libertarian = Truly and literally the 1% party.
Oh, cool, I'm in the 1%.
*Looks around for massive amounts of wealth & is disappointed."
You're in A 1%, just not THE 1%.
Ahh. I wish I was in the 1% interest on my credit cards club.
I think as long as we don't capitalize, we're about the 10% loosely-affiliated group.
He will blame them unless they give him all the free herb that he wants. Then they're ok.
I just want to see a white flag flying over the White House.
You want the French to invade?
Don't worry, we've already learned from the Brits on how to deal with the French:
Now go away, before I must fart at you a 2nd time!
They already have a staging ground across the street in a park
I actually think that
a) lacking anyone else stepping forward to take credit, that a stoner buffoon SHOULD do so, and in addition lash out incoherently in a manner that ironically mocks the rhetoric of the modern day Occutard Movement
Well done, Bud!
and
b) the police say exactly the right thing here = "uh, No."
Which is close to the first time I've heard the NYC police say something that shows they're clearly more aware of reality than their critics.
I knew I heard of this guy before. I didn't realize it was when I was waiting for Saturday morning cartoons to come on.
When NY 20 years from now is the last state to legalize pot we should all look back at this and know why.
They'll probably have to beat out MD and NJ for that prestigious title of fascism.
So we're supposed to believe that this group was smart enough to get past the cops and replace the flags, but dumb enough to think they'd be able to do it a second time?
Sounds like a real who done it to me man.

You know it would have been way cooler if they would have put up flags with pot leafs and a Gadsen Flag. Then of course, libertarians would have actually got the credit without even asking.
I still think it was bleach spraying drones
