The "Statue of Liberty" is actually Liberty Enlightening the World, not Liberty Inviting the World as some think. And the statue was put up in honor of the US getting independence and the right to run its own affairs including who gets to enter and become citizens.

The horrible poem "New Colossus" was not put on the base of the statue until 17 years after it was dedicated

Nice, I believe what Payne is going for here is a Ghostbusters 1 & 2 mash-up. In a twist ending, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man goads the recently-animated Statue of Liberty off of her perch only to replace her without anyone noticing.

one thing that could, but probably won't, come from the border thing is a sense of perspective. Americans toss out words like poverty, need, and income inequality with no idea what they mean. Central America is home to grinding poverty and near-zero opportunity. Doesn't mean it's up the US to be the global halfway house but perhaps folks bitching about the 1% or how Hobby Lobby is restricting "access" to birth control should take off the blinders.
