Stocks tumbled on Friday, with the Dow falling 300 points for its worst week in 18 months, after big selloffs in European and Asian markets over concerns for the economies and currencies of developing countries.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which dropped 175 points on Thursday,  closed unofficially down 316 points, or 1.95 percent. It is down 2.7 percent for the week—its worst since May 2012—and 3.4 percent for the year.
