One Dead in Purdue University Shooting
Suspect in custody
One person died in a shooting today on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., and one person is in custody.
Police said the victim was a male and they were trying to identify him.
The suspect is not cooperating at all with authorities, according to campus Police Chief John Cox. They are still trying to obtain the suspect's identity as well.
Purdue campus police said the shooting occurred in the basement area of the electrical engineering building this afternoon.

This sucks, my old stomping grounds.
I'm trying to think of what the motivation for something like this could be. It's too early in the semester for the attempted murder/suicide.
I'm an alum as well. According to the chatter on reddit, it happened in the ECE 362 lab in the basement of the EE building.
The victim is supposedly one of the TAs for the lab. That class is extremely time consuming and difficult - I only took it in Fall of 2010.
