AAA Predicts Drop in Holiday Traveling
Due to economic uncertainty
Holiday travel during Thanksgiving weekend is likely to drop slightly from last year's level because the sluggish pace of the economic recovery is creating uncertainty in the minds of some consumers, AAA said Wednesday.
Defining the Thanksgiving travel period this year as running from Wednesday Nov. 27 through Sunday Dec. 1, AAA said it projects 43.4 million Americans will journey 50 miles or more from home during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, a decrease of 1.5 percent from the 44 million people who traveled last year.
