San Diegans Head to Polls to Replace Mayor
Remember that Filner guy?
San Diegans will go to the polls Tuesday to choose a successor to disgraced former Mayor Bob Filner, with the focus on a battle for the second spot on an expected runoff ballot.
With polls showing Councilman Kevin Faulconer enjoying a healthy lead, his colleague David Alvarez and ex-Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher are left to fight it out for the other position.
The most recent poll, released Sunday by SurveyUSA, shows Faulconer with 40 percent support. Other recent surveys have him around there, as well.
However, the total is below the over 50 percent necessary to avoid a runoff. If a second vote becomes necessary, it will take place early next year.
