Officials To Crush 6 Tons of Seized Ivory in Denver
Symbolic gesture signaling dedication to ending poaching
U.S. authorities will crush 6 tons of seized ivory, each piece cut from dead elephants, signaling resolve to kill a $10 billion illicit trade linked to international crime and terrorism.
They've set up a blue rock-grinder near a warehouse at Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge where the ivory is kept, and Thursday will pulverize it all into chips.

Heh. That could almost pay half of Michigan's debt... Nah. I'd grind it up too.
From my rudimentary understanding of economics, the loss of 6-tons of ivory will result in the price increasing and provide a financial incentive to kill even more elephants, no?
