California Shuts Down Fake Obamacare Sites

Designed to lure in customers away from real exchanges

California's attorney general shut down 10 websites Thursday that allegedly pretended to be the state's official insurance exchange under ObamaCare.

The sites used similar words and phrases as the state's official site, CoveredCA.com, to trick consumers, the state said.

"These websites fraudulently imitated Covered California in order to lure consumers away from plans that provide the benefits of the Affordable Care Act," state Attorney General Kamala Harris said. "My office will continue to investigate and shut down these kinds of sites."
