Cops in Edison, New Jersey Sue Over Allegedly Being Targeted by Rogue Internal Affairs Unit
Over their support of the mayor
Seven Edison police officers have filed suit against their chief, a former internal affairs investigator and the township, claiming they were targeted for retaliation and placed on a secret hit list because of their political support for the town's mayor.
The officers say they and their relatives — along with certain township officials — were investigated by a rogue element in the internal affairs unit and that they suffered demotions, punitive shift changes, petty criticism and increased monitoring.

In Greensboro, in the mid oughts, one cop was investigated for a disturbance of some sort, and the investigators found the first number on his speed dial was a local drug kingpin. The chief of police had him and his closest colleagues investigated further, resulting in a harassment suit, the local civil rights street theater activist up in arms (the investigated parties were black), and the chief getting shit canned. Ha! Ha! Jokes on you, Mr. Local Tax Payer, you got to pay for the entire freak show from start to finish.
