Boehner Proposes Short Extension for Debt Limit, Former Detroit Mayor Sentenced, Zombie Invasion Begins in Ohio: P.M. Links
-
Republican House Speaker John Boehner is floating a six-week extension of the federal debt limit. It's not clear if the proposal will go anywhere.
- Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was sentenced to 28 years in prison today for corruption.
- Four U.S. whistleblowers have met with Edward Snowden in Russia, the first American non-family members to do so. They say he's settled in nicely and has no regrets.
- A prosecutor argues that an undercover New York cop helped terrorize a family in an SUV in a well-publicized violent confrontation with bikers. His attorney claims video will ultimately exonerate him from any accusations of involvement.
- Because of the way Ohio's law is written, a man who was legally declared dead in 1994 after disappearing in 1986 cannot have the declaration retracted, even though it turned out he's not actually dead. We knew the undead would come for us eventually.
- More than 70 percent of Americans who tried to sign up for health insurance through Affordable Care Act exchanges had problems attempting to do so.

Beohner didn’t blink, he just had something in his eye.
It’s more a waffle than a blink.
Probably a sound strategy. Better to waffle than pancake. On the other hand I was enjoy the sticky mess.
Waffles. Tasty waffles with lots of syrup.
Is this a blink? I don’t recall anything about the House trying to hold up the debt limit. Both parties want to raise that, because it’s against the laws of God, physics, and America to even mention the possibility of cutting spending.
I consider it a monumental blink as they got nothing on spending in exchange for it.
They care about spending? If they did, they could’ve made this whole business about spending. Denying funding for ACA and other stuff that would bring total spending below the debt limit.
They ain’t doing that.
Sometimes you have to run backwards for a few yards in order to find a hole to run forwards.
Then again, sometimes the defense gets you before you turn upfield. I guess we’ll see.
People from Ohio – always letting others down
I guess we’ll see.
They don’t call them the Stupid Party for nothing.
Well, the House does get something in exchange. The Imminent Default Of Death has been the Administration’s favorite lie lately, and now they’ll have to dial that down the for a few weeks.
The government still remains kinda sorta shut down. And then the debt limit card goes back to the House.
IF all they got was the potential for a reduction in the lies told by the administration and the DemOp Media Complex, I would say they got nuthin’.
What’s the chance Ted Cruz will filibuster this?
Zero.
Because of the way Ohio’s law is written, a man who was legally declared dead in 1994 after disappearing in 1986 cannot have the declaration retracted, even though it turned out he’s not actually dead. We knew the undead would come for us eventually.
The guy owes years of child support and alimony. Is he sure he wants to come back?
“I’m not quite dead”
“Shut up!”
“I think I’ll go for a walk'”
My question is why are they declaring people dead when there is no body or witness or strong evidence that he is in fact dead? Sometimes people just want to disappear.
Just a guess, but insurance and estate stuff likely pushes potential heirs/kin to declare a long-term missing person as deceased.
If he’s legally dead, does he get out of paying income taxes?
I suppose “yes”, since his estate was settled, right?
I like the idea of an “I’m dead” defense. “Your honor, as you can see, my client is dead, so he can’t have had any income to pay taxes on.”
Being legally dead gets you a lot of special privileges. Like for air travel. Also, there’s a tort for mishandling the dead. And I think there are restrictions on conveying real property with dead people on it.
+1 Hotblack Desiato
That’s only if the Cleveland Browns act as pallbearers, which was likely the case in this instance.
Yeah, no shit. I was going to post something along that lines. By being “dead” he has no prior obligations. It’s almost as dumb as gay people wanting to get married.
No sex with the dead guy, though! That’s a crime.
The legal bloggers are probably creaming themselves right now.
Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was sentenced to 28 years in prison today for corruption.
Sounds like he got off easy, if the alternative was a sentence of life living in Detroit.
I thought the plan to fix Detroit was to turn it into an open air prison and put cameras everywhere and make a reality show of it?
So, just add cameras and a fence?
And Snake Plissken.
and a device that when activated would could end modern civilization.
I really think the ending to Escape from LA was the best of the two.
Say, why not Escape from Detroit?
Doctor-assisted suicide ban upheld in B.C.
You belong to the state and only it may decide when and how you may die.
Now – GO TAKE THAT HILL FROM THE VIET CONG!
It doesn’t say, “suicide” it says “doctor assisted suicide”. How many people really need a fucking doctor to kill themselves? There are only about a million ways to do it.
Next you’ll be expecting women to pay for their own birth control.
1. ABC NewsAriel Castro may have died from auto-erotic asphyxiation, not suicide, state says
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-20…..tate-says/
That is just classic Ariel.
What a jackoff jackass OK jackoff
I first read the URL without the first name. I was hoping it was Fidel’s brother.
They also said two guards falsified logs documenting the number of times they checked on Castro before he died.
The two guards having sex with Castro?
auto-erotic asphyxiation, not suicide
The two are not mutually exclusive. Could have been going out in one last gasp of glory.
It only has to be physician assisted because of their monopoly on prescription. Let me have the drugs to go out how I want and no doc has to be involved. Don’t charge my wife with murder for helping me get open the bottle of pills and no doc will have to be involved.
You’ll recall Doctor Death (Jack Kevorkian) here in MI. There were patients clients of his, IIRC, who could not, in fact, administer their own death tonic. MS, or quads, or whatever.
So – they do exist.
SLD, etc. etc. etc.
Don’t you have insulin available to you? 😛
Yup. But I can’t take my allergy shots at home, because it’s too dangerous.
It only has to be physician assisted because of their monopoly on prescription. Let me have the drugs to go out how I want and no doc has to be involved.
I agree. You should be able to purchase a “black capsule”.
Don’t charge my wife with murder for helping me get open the bottle of pills and no doc will have to be involved.
Personally, I would rather my loved ones take a risk with 12 jurors than the possibility of having it decided by a single, government moron. Once you have a “Right to Die”, they government has an “obligation” to provide “access”. It would be something with which Obamacarousel would be efficient.
Both cases involved people with very limited mobility, so aside from “stop drinking and eating and die of thirst” (which would be horrible), they didn’t really have a lot of options except some kind of assistance.
Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was sentenced to 28 years in prison today for corruption.
Points to me in my Politician Indictment/Incarceration Fantasy League.
You lose!
I’ve got the entire Cook County Dem party.
I they were disallowed as professional grafthletes?
Oh, they’re allowed. But you’re not going to get an Illinois politician in those leagues unless you have a high draft pick.
Still befuddles me that we elected a Chicago politician to president. I mean, really?
Actually, for his second term, we may not have.
“Still befuddles me that we elected a Chicago politician to president. I mean, really?”
Not only that, but it turns out he’s anointed!
Really? With what kind of oil? Who is holy enough to take on that task?
“It rubs the lotion…”
Well, now that the IL government can’t ask if you’ve been previously convicted of a felony, I suppose politician full employment is guaranteed.
What? How does that work? For any job? For that matter, for any purpose?
Juno spacecraft, during Earth flyby, accidentally hears about “Government Shutdown” and goes on furlough.
Mission managers say the fuel saving gravity assist maneuver worked as planned, however, disproving evil Teathuglikkkans who say there is No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.
Isaac Newton and Johannes Kepler were unavailable for comment, presumably because funds for their cryogenic storage chambers were sequestered.
Actually, there is no such thing as a free launch. The gravity boost the craft got as it swung by the planet came at the expense of changing the earth’s orbit by a teeny tiny percentage.
Anthropogenic Global Slowing! Thank you!
Got a new scam, kids!
This one is actually true, though (so long as you don’t try to use it to predict horrifying apocalyptic effects).
That’s the beauty of it. It’s real. It’s indisputable. And it’s bullshit.
I want to be on the Committee for Reallocating Spin.
The moon is stealing our spin too!
Nuke the moon!
Mother fucker. We should take whatever steps necessary, including military action, to get it back.
I suggest a crash program, led by America’s great private industry, to develop an infrastructure for getting our military to the Moon. Just in case we need to invade.
We could launch moon rocks back at the earth, to crash into it and restore our precious spin via kinetic energy transfer.
Yes, yes we could. We need emergency funding and powers. I mean, like total power. And all the money.
We must close the gravitational-pull gap!!!
/Gen. Turgidson
Technically wouldn’t it have sped the earth up when it launched and then got back that energy when it did the flyby?
Yes, we’ll need computer models to sort all of this out and to properly apportion blame on various businesses and disfavored political groups. All at a cost. NEED MORE GRANT MONEY.
That was part of the joke.
It’s not my fault! My funny bone is broken!
THIS is why we need Obamacare, stat.
They’re takin’ our potential energy!
We need a new Manhattan Project to solve the potential energy crisis!
Kinetic action is needed!
But will Congress approve it?
This is a crisis! Besides, my disposition matrix says, “Reply hazy. Try again later.”
Were Brahe and Galileo available?
No, what Obama will do is contract with the Russian to send a special mission up to manually turn off the Juno spacecraft as it goes by, because due to evil Republicans, we don’t have the money to operate it any more.
I guarantee that at least 25% of the population would buy that explanation.
I know this has been noted before, but 10% of America, when polled, believe anything. It’s quite remarkable.
Just the tip?
Hey Lana. Hey Lana. Lana. Lana. LAAANNAAAA!!!!
DANGER ZONE!
By far the best promo I’ve ever seen for a show. Top Gun animated Archer-style.
Fuck you so very, very much.
Damn, beat me to it. I got Fisted!
That is so classic him.
Wait a minute, I had something for this…
Yeah you got Fisted just like, uh, I had something for this…
Phrasing!
This is how we get ants.
It’s just you and me now, Reggie – so be a lad and put on some Mingus
Top Gun was such a dumb movie.
Mandatory Danger Zone, even if someone posted it on an earlier thread.
Another slam dunk speech from Rand Paul:
Wait, did I say Rand Paul? I meant Senator Obama — excellent speech, I’m sure he’ll go far with that kind of attitude.
You lie!
Damn, I thought you were saying that Rand Paul delivered an updated version of Obama’s speech. That’d be awesome to see.
Has any reporter or anyone else in the public eye take the opportunity to call Obama out on this to his face? I’ve seen it bandied about in blog posts and such, but I’d really love to hear what he’d have to say if someone asked him point blank if he was more full of shit then or now.
“Uhhh ….”
Circumstances have changed! The world is a very different place from 2006 than it is today!
This needs to be run as an ad. I’m sure the true believers will hide behind cognitive dissonance, but the moderates may be saved.
I have no idea why someone isn’t buying network ad space to run the audio juicy bits of the speech over text of Obama’s recent statements.
Also, someone should rebroadcast all of Obama’s official statements, speeches, and pressers witg an overlay of the real-time debt clock indexed for the actual.time he.was.making the statements.
I saw a Romney ad last year with *some* quotes about the debt.
For a second there, I was shocked that Rand Paul had used the phrase “Social Security trust fund” unironically.
Yeah, me too; I saw “air quotes” around that.
Thanks T.I.T., I’ll use it in my next Letter to the Editor.
“That is ‘trillion’ with a ‘T'” sounds like a good T-shirt. With the good senator/president’s face on it.
Here’s Obama insanely lame-ass defense/repudiation of that statement:
So Bush was right? Or is this a case of it’s okay now that I have the power?
He is such a mendacious fuck.
I’m going to throw that up at Urkobold. Ye gods.
Awesome!
A prosecutor argues that an undercover New York cop helped terrorize a family in an SUV in a well-publicized violent confrontation with bikers.
Here’s the thing with group rides: They often try to section off a portion of road for themselves. For safety. Which is great except you have to patrol your borders and expel any non-bikers from the territory. Hence the initial bump. No doubt this cop was just as enraged that an SUV would dare breach their perimeter in the first place. “Paramount officer safety” translates into “paramount biker safety” nicely.
I say this as an avid biker. There is something about a group that makes normal bikers into complete assholes. I can’t stand group rides.
Agreed. If there’s more than a handful of riders in the group, I prefer to go my own way. There’s always one douchebag who feels the need to show everyone how fast he is. And there are always one or more other douchebags who feel the need to prove him wrong. 20 turns down the road you come across one of them with his bike all wadded up, sometimes seriously injured, sometimes dead. I didn’t roll my bike out of the garage that morning to direct traffic and give statements to the police.
I enjoy CicLAVia in LA. It’s fun to ride around in the city without worrying about cars but you don’t get the defensive/aggressive group ride mentality.
Wrong kind of bike, dude.
Ah, I saw Apatheist’s critical mass comment but glossed over the “not the same kind of biker” portion. My bad.
Yeah, I NEVER ride with anyone else. I mean, ever. EVER.
Hate HOG (when I had a Harley), don’t belong to a club.
That’s what “track days” are for, kids – take your bike to Gratton or Berlin or Waterford or Mid-Ohio or Miller (etc. etc.) and HAVE AT IT! It’s even cheap now.
I know it’s not the same kind of biker but when critical mass does their thing here in Houston they take up the whole street and blow through every red light, leaving cars stuck for multiple lights. If any of the drivers object they get harassed to no end. I’ve seen some defend it saying that you can’t have a group ride if they stop at all the lights. Well too fucking bad.
It’s pretty much the same obnoxious pack shit without the engine noise. These guys feel they don’t have to obey traffic flow or rules of road courtesy because FYTW. And then they wonder why so many ghost bikes end up existing.
The thing about an incident like this today is that it’s going to increase the hostility towards bikers 100-fold. They’ll act like assholes, a driver will take umbrage, and when the other bikers try to swarm, a bunch of people are going to get hurt, either with the bikers getting run over or someone getting shot.
Uh, what’s a ghost bike? I’m guessing it’s not something good.
It’s a bike that’s painted white and set up as a memorial where the bike-rider was hit and killed by a car.
It’s a bike that’s painted white and set up as a memorial where the bike-rider was hit and killed by a car.
No. Really?
Yep.

“I’ve seen some defend it saying that you can’t have a group ride if they stop at all the lights. Well too fucking bad.”
Agree a million times.
Seriously. Why the fuck do you get to disrupt traffic for everyone else just because you have 50 people riding motorcycles together?
Because FYTW?
It’s all good until someone gets run over…

James Woods: “This President is a true abomination
James Woods is not hiding his distaste for President Barack Obama. The 66-year-old actor — who starred as the head of the president’s Secret Service detail, a man plotting to take down the president in this summer’s “White House Down” — expressed his opinions on Twitter this week in the wake of the ongoing government shutdown.
Woods spoke out on the government shutdown, placing the onus on Obama, while also criticizing the president for various other problems in the country, including gun violence and race relations. He continued to respond to both those who agreed with him and those who did not, calling Obama “a true abomination” and linking to articles about the shutdown. Woods said the remarks might keep him from being able to find a job in Hollywood, but that he put “[his] country first.”
Woods blocked me on Twitter last month. Balko had called Woods a dick for calling Bradley Manning a traitor. Woods, being a child, made a gay joke at Balko’s expense. I made a rather innocent joke as to whether Woods’ account was a parody (since I didn’t believe at the time Woods was such an idiot), and he blocked me.
(Woods’ twitter account is like something you’d find from an 18 year old drunken neocon)
Smoked a joint with Woods and my friend outside the Great Western Forum back in 1997. We were in the smoking section between periods of a Kings match. Nice guy.
I liked it back in those days. 15 minutes door to door. The only saving grace about the staples center is that I can get prime rib next door. I will murder for good prime rib…
I will murder for good prime rib…
That’s useful information. Getting excellent prime rib is WAY more cost effective than putting a hit out on Silk Road.
Good prime rib is hard to find. When I say “I have a roast in the oven”, I am usually referring to prime rib. Which is why I was so pissed about the blackout. $50 of USDA prime grassfed ribeye down the toilet…
His tweets are definitely going to do a lot of good for his country.
Woods was a big fan of the Iraq War Fiasco and Dumbya’s administration. That makes him an idiot.
Pot calling the kettle black.
And you are a big fan of Obama’s multiple war fiascos and his retarded administration, but you were probably already and idiot before then.
Libya was no fiasco, you moron. We never put a single soldier on the ground.
And that Syrian War that our idiot H/R pal John kept predicting never happened.
John = “always wrong”.
We just destroyed the government and went home. We destroyed the government and left the place in chaos to be run by Islamist militias. God you are a lying piece of shit. You are an embarrassment to the entire human race. Just die. You owe it to the world. Dying is really the only thing positive you can do at this point.
What happened to the Syrian War that you promised Obama would start. John?
You fucking idiot. How many wrong predictions can you muster up?
You are a fucking clueless idiot. You even predicted Romney would win every day up to the landslide loss of his.
Fuck you, John.
PB = “Never correct”
Such a paradox!
Libya was no fiasco, you moron. We never put a single soldier on the ground.
Post after post, more imbecilic than the last. It is unpossible but it is.
Hilarious how you mention Iraq but not the other place. I wonder why that is? Could it be that you are a mendacious piece of shit? The “Surge” you remember? Doubling down on BOOOSHHH’s policy in Afghanistan? Not a fiasco?
You make me laugh. You are a clown to me.
He didn’t even double down of Bush’s policy in AFG, he installed Bush’s Iraq policy in AFG.
Bush’s policy in AFG consisted of small numbers of SF soldiers and lots of kinetic actions whenever Taliban or AlQ got together in a place.
BO killed more Americans in AFG in three years than Bush did in six.

Connor Friedersdorf is an unbelievable douche bag. Check out the lame ass apologetic for the media for totally missing the Pigford frauds.
He’s a more-tolerable version Weigel. A libertarianish leftist who wants to make liberty seem ok to leftists. You take him for what he’s worth.
It’s “Conor,” and I think you are too harsh. He’s basically saying the conservative media was right about Pigford, and that progressives were blinded by ideology. I think he’s too hard on Breitbart: he and his site have made mistakes, but I doubt if they’ve made more than their partisan opponents, all told.
I can’t blame journalists for ignoring Breitbart’s claims. He’d already proved himself unreliable at that point in his career for reasons that everyone outside the conservative movement already understands. For the subset of conservative readers who don’t understand, it’s hugely important to your prospects that you try.
Breitbart LIED! ACORN DIED!
Bratbitch is a goddamn liar. Thankfully, sewer rats have eaten his sorry remains.
You’re so adorable when you get sand in your vagina, shriek.
He’d already proved himself unreliable at that point in his career for reasons that everyone outside the conservative movement already understands
Same can be said for the NYT, CNN, Huffington Post, AP and on and on and on.
Hell Breitbart was more right about the NAACP then any mainstream media coverage of the Zimmerman case ever was. He even explicitly explained in the original article that the video was about the reactions of the NAACP members and not about the Ag secretary.
He also said “Eventually Sherrod’s common humanity led her to send the farmer to someone who could help him” in the original article.
This tends to get left out by liberals who lie and claim that Breitbart edited the video to leave out the end. He not only didn’t edit out the end of the video, he commented on it.
Of course, liberals then proceeded to lie about Breitbart lying.
For example, Andrew Breitbart never edited the Shirley Sherrod video and they released the unedited footage of the ACORN videos.
That means that every time someone accuses Breitbart of selectively editing those videos, they’re actually lying more than Breitbart himself ever did.
I’d also argue that Breitbart was no less trustworthy than mainstream media outlets these days. The way the media treated Barack The Lightbringer, King of Kings and Protector of the Realms was much more dishonest and damaging to this country than Breitbart’s moral lapses.
This seems more or less courageous by progressive standards:
“In hindsight, the progressive media’s coverage of Pigford and its successor lawsuits is revealed to be deeply flawed. At various points, progressive writers pointed out real flaws in conservative coverage. In doing so, they remained oblivious to the fact that concern over massive fraud was warranted, and wasn’t confined to rabble rouser Andrew Breitbart*.”

I was skimming some of the comments and they seemed mostly rational and then came this:
“Many of the expenditures, though perhaps not the way they were accounted for, have been necessary to protect the security of our nation and its economic well-being, and the health and well-being of our people.
I am blaming the current congress for not addressing the need to raise revenue to help pay off the debt that has escalated over the past 12 years. After all, much of our current congress has presided during this time period and they need to examine whether the continuation of past policies, on the revenue side, damages our future economic well-being. Every business in the red addresses the problem in a twofold manner: (1) raise revenue and (2) cut costs. Focusing on cost cutting at the expense of raising revenue in a meaningful way is a good part of the reason we have a national debt crisis and will continue to have one in years to come.”
It looks to me like in practice they have only focused on the revenue side and ignored the cost cutting side. But my brain must be broken or something.
The commenter will be pleased to hear that he got those wonderous revenue enhancers last year. and even more are kicking in due to obamacare.
“What more taxes did not raise revenues?!?! Well i guess we need to raise taxes again!”
Then the SS Trust Fund has always been empty.
In reality, of course, it is filled with Treasury bonds that are backed by future tax collection.
STFU,PB
In short, it does jack shit. The government could just drop the farce of selling nonnegotiable bonds to itself and just run a straight-up pension program.
Then the SS Trust Fund has always been empty.
Incorrect as always, shriek. In 1968, the SS Trust Fund had actual money in it. Then LBJ of TEAM Blue, aided and abetted by a TEAM Blue Congress (gee, I think I’ve seen this movie before, but it was the 2009 version), passed a bill to raid SS in order to pay for Vietnam.
Dipshit, I was using a rhetorical device.
I don’t believe the SS Trust Fund is empty now or was in 1968.
The “Then” should have clued you in.
Being wrong is not now, nor has it ever been, a rhetorical device.
In reality, of course, it is filled with Treasury bonds that are backed by future tax collection debt issuance.
FTFY, dumbass.
Is this part of the “it’s not a big deal because we owe most of it to ourselves” argument.
“If the government has incurred a huge public debt which must be paid by taxing one group on behalf of another, this reality of burden is conveniently obscured by blithely saying that “we owe it to ourselves” (but who are the “we” and who the “ourselves”?).”

Apparently he was also one of the undercover cops embedded with Occupy. So basically he likes to go places where he can abuse people at will (I mean, even more so than a NYPD officer can usually do that). He’s just unlucky that it went viral this time.

Hot news from 2010.
Now I want to see an all-cockroach remake of The Warriors: NYC cockroaches have their own neighborhoods
FTA:The other way?the biggest finding of the study?is that there are four distinct genetic types of cockroaches within this species [the American cockroach]. Evolutionarily these genetic types are separated by a million or two million years. So they were probably living in different parts of the world. We brought them here.
They do interbreed, so we don’t think they’re separate species. But on the other hand, in the New York City neighborhoods where we’ve looked in detail?the Upper West Side, the Upper East Side, and Roosevelt Island?the genetic types are quite different. So they must be staying close to home.
The diversity was a surprise to us, and the fact that they’re not just all mixed together?it’s not a random assortment. So they must be staying close to home, and they have their own neighborhoods.
I’m stuck on “an all-cockroach remake of The Warriors”. HOW FUCKING AWESOME WOULD THAT BE??

Barbara Streisand: America is all about majority rule!
In this country, our elections are supposed to mean something for policy outcomes. In 2012, the President was easily reelected with 332 electoral votes, the Democrats picked up two more seats in the Senate and received over 1.1 million more votes for Congressional seats than the Republicans. The Republicans were able to retain control of the House of Representatives because GOP-led state legislatures redrew Congressional lines after the reapportionment and redistricting following the 2010 census. According to the latest AP-GfK POLL, the approval rating of the Congress is 5%, the lowest figure ever recorded.
Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich noted one of the real aims of the Tea Party conservatives is to undermine the faith of the American people that the federal government can solve national problems. Given all the voter restrictions Republicans have instituted on the state level, they hope fewer and fewer Americans are civically engaged and vote. This should particularly concern American women as it took nearly 150 years of struggle to have this “right”.
I hope enough Americans draw the opposite conclusion and hold those Republicans responsible for this orchestrated and manufactured crisis fully accountable in 2014.
That’s a lot of non-sequiturs.

C’mon ProL, everyone knows he had the right ideas just wasn’t the right man for the job.
I wonder if any of Obama’s books talk about the Jews, invasions of Poland, or anything else like in Mein Kampf? I remember Shirer bitching about people not paying any attention to all of the things Hitler said he was going to do.
Was he talking about Reason and Obama?
Hitler, Shirer, or Obama?
Shirer.
Oh, yeah. He hated Reason. Read his Berlin Diaries.
Were they not paying attention or did they willfully ignore it? Let’s face it, Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini were favorites of the Progtards until they went invading places, and in some cases *coughNY Timescough* not even then.
It’s kind of odd when a world leader writes a book that was known about that says, “Hey, dudes. Germany needs to control a whole lot more land adjacent to Germany and, yo, the Jews got to go” and they just act all surprised when he does those things.
Well, since no one has actually read any of Obama’s books, we may never know.
I hope we’re not invading Poland.
Man, I wish I was a (former) celebrity, so people thought that my dumbass opinions were worth listening to.
I’m sure she supported ‘Nam, Nixon and Reagan.
I doubt it. She has been Leftarded for some time.
Oh yeah. Smart NYC Jewish girl = standard lefty politics, pretty much all the time.
I know. I was just pointing out she is hypocritical piece of shit.
Of course to the progtards it doesn’t count as hypocrisy because they only hate the government when the Wrong People are in charge.
I do love how, after generations of Democrat insistence on gerrymandering, suddenly it’s a bad thing and the fault of Republicans.
Dissent is patriotic!
And the republicans have a better claim to being the majority party than the democrats. More total members of congress, more governors, more state legislative bodies.
Yeah, I’ve wondered about that, too.
Lies!!
Only senators and the President matter!!!
And if there aren’t enough national problems, the federal government will just entrap enough people to say that there is a federal problem. Or just make one up.
It’s racist to require ID to vote, but not to require ID and a waiting period, and a background check, to buy a gun. That’s just common sense.
Wait, the 19th amendment was ratified in 1920, and it took 150 years… suffragettes in 1770? Who knew?
So the tea party is undermining the confidence of the people in the federal government, so they can use the state government to deny people the right to vote, which in turn will repeal the 19th Amendment.
Makes perfect sense.
More than 70 percent of Americans who tried to sign up for health insurance through Affordable Care Act exchanges had problems attempting to do so.
That’s all?
If 70% of McDonald’s customers got sick after eating there, you’d be in the streets with a sign demanding they be shut down.
Healthcare.gov has been an abject failure so far. I really thought 98% or more of the people could not enroll.
Yes, if it were a food product it should be taken off the market.
Please explain why the government needs to set up special exchanges for health insurance but not car insurance.
*** wave hand ***
Because no one *needs* to drive a car but everybody *needs* to live!
Ah, but everybody needs to eat too. America demands food insurance or better yet, single-payer food!
Please explain why the government needs to set up special exchanges for health insurance but not car insurance.
I can’t. There is no good reason.
All we needed was to break the health insurance cartel and re-establish a market for insurance but, as usual, government overshot the objective and added too much junk on the pile.
I congratulate you on your honest answer- seriously.
As for breaking up the cartel, I advise you to research the phrase “regulatory capture”.
Cheers!
government overshot the objective and added too much junk on the pile.
Science H. Logic, you continue to become more stupid, which seems impossible until you do it.
So the real intention of ObamaCarousel was to “break the health insurance cartel” and the method they used was passing a law where everyone had to purchase a product from the Cartel? Even bringing the cartel into hearings to make sure they got what they wanted, all to break them?
Troll Grade: F. You are not even trying anymore.
Dumbass.
In exchange for busting the cartel the insurers allowed themselves to become highly regulated.
80% payout minimum, no ban on high-risk people, no rescissions, etc.
Now STFU and go away. I am tired of educating you.
They ended their cartel so they could be regulated? Yeah, that makes sense.
You are more retarded and confused than normal. Tell the state docs to better calibrate your meds dispshit.
Wow, you’re so right, shriek. Because the health insurance industry wasn’t already HIGHLY REGULATED.
What a fucking moron you are. Always
Guaranteeing profits is a funny way of breaking up a cartel.
If you want to argue that insurance companies should be like public utilities, fine. Don’t try to say that’s the same as breaking up a cartel.
You dumbasses are losing the battle and the war.
Obamacare, with all its flaws, was a win/win compromise between insurers and regulators.
While you scratch your nappy heads the country will move on.
And John – you are always wrong.
Maybe a win for the insurers and regulators, but a loss for everyone else.
It’s a nationwide version of what they did in MA. And what happened there? Premiums went through the roof.
Funny how that didn’t come up in any of the debates.
One, the health insurance cartel continues on unabated. Two, insurance, like banking, is one of the most highly regulated industries in America already.
Or maybe you think they just hire all of those lawyers to twirl their mustaches and fight insurance claims all day?
One, the health insurance cartel continues on unabated.
Not at all.
The former purpose of the cartel was to exchange information and deny insurance to medium/high risk applicants.
That is no longer allowed.
The purpose of insurance is to offer protection against low-probability, high-cost events.
Insurance by nature cannot protect against everything.
Unfortunately, govt regs require insurance companies to provide things that make that insurance more expensive than it would be otherwise. That is the real problem.
Oh, why do I bother?
? Bad, bad strawman Brown! Baddest man in the whole damn town! Badder than that ol’ King Koooong! Meaner than a junkyard dog! ?
The former purpose of the cartel was to exchange information and deny insurance to medium/high risk applicants.
Wrong as usual, moron. The purpose of the cartel was to insure increasingly costly healthcare services. That hasn’t stopped one iota.
And PB-you’re never correct.
They will just have the privilege of paying through the nose for insurance instead, or paying the penaltax.
Thanks Barry!
The former purpose of the cartel was to exchange information and deny insurance to medium/high risk applicants.
That is no longer allowed.
I think John may be right about you and Kos. You really think that insurance companies don’t insure “med/high risk” applicants because they are evil rather than because it would make them unprofitable. And you claim to be a Capitalist? And a genius of high finance? Hilarious.
Jesu, stop playing with the retard. If you must, insult it and be done.
More than 70 percent of Americans
98% is more than 70%
Probably not since those customers would just use the free market to take their money elsewhere.
Too bad you don’t have that option with fascistic progrmas like Obamacare.
I’m going to take part of your misspelling and make a new word:
“progma”: (n) dogma spewed by Proglodytes
Used in a sentence: “I’ve heard about enough of the progma you’ve been spewing, Mr. Ayers. Now eat your soup and we’ll change your diaper after you’ve finished eating…”
“Because of the way Ohio’s law is written, a man who was legally declared dead in 1994 after disappearing in 1986 cannot have the declaration retracted, even though it turned out he’s not actually dead.”
I’m sure the state of Ohio will accept this as a defense when he doesn’t pay taxes.
He’s a deadbeat who wants to collect social security.
Don’t let journalists tool around with statistics… just don’t
I’ll link to a hideous pictures of a feminist for every problem that you bright folks can identify with what Sadbeard is saying here, and let’s see which of us runs out of material first.

Hmm..I’ll start, correlation doesn’t equal causation. Basically, the first rule of statistics.
We have our first winner, ladies and gentlemen! Here’s your, uh, reward.
she’s cute
She looks like she is about to grab the cameraman with a giant crushing hug as she is naming him ‘George.’
Does she have an infection in her salivary glands?
Because that would be my first guess.
As an amateur photographer, I love it when the image the camera captures has the background in crystal clear focus and the subject I actually wanted is blurry. LOVE. IT.
In this case I certainly won’t complain about the subject being out of focus.
Higher employment and lower average wages. It is almost like such taxes destroy low wage jobs or something.
My God he clinically stupid. How does he feed himself?
Structural differences between economies government created or otherwise… gaze upon your prize, and despair!
Another flaw: the argument is not whether taxes affect wages but how they affect employment. High tax & reg states have higher unemployment.
Irrelevant conclusion based on argument not in question… another answer, another face that would make a Gorgon pucker.
Aargh! Not the Dunham! Anything but the Dunham!
I think from the pics you posted before you managed to make Lena Dunham look hot.
My guess is that you have simply had too much to drink.
Excellent negotiation strategy folks. Go ahead and tell everyone that you’re willing to give up on all of your demands, willing to give the other side all that they want, and tell them that all they have to do is sit down and “talk about things”. This is tantamount to bluffing in poker and then giggling and truthfully telling your opponent what you’re holding. Boehner is invited to my home game anytime.
I’ve figured out what motivates the GOP leaders in the strategy they have taken over the past two months. They love brown people. So long as the news cycle is focused on their actions, the media does not focus on Obama. In the rare instances that Obama is the focus of media attention he has this strong tendency to kill brown people to distract the American public with patriotic gore. I’m hopeful that the GOP leadership, the self sacrificing heroes they are, maybe not the ones we want, but the ones in these perilous times we need, keep Obama out of the heat for the next three years so his trigger finger remains relaxed. God bless, John Boehner for being in service of humanity to reign in the tyrant in our moral failings we allow to reign over us.
God bless, John Boehner, for being in service of humanity to reign in the tyrant that in our moral failings we allow to reign over us.
A reminder that The A.V. Club is populated by progtards
While tonight’s episode takes on the Drudge/Breitbart-fueled fear-mongering of riots and the “get over it” attitude in the wake of the Zimmerman verdict, it does so by using Cartman’s World War Z nightmares as a pop culture touchstone. After all, South Park sends up pop culture so much, it makes sense, as does the blatant ridiculousness around Cartman’s poem/song (shades of “Accidental Racist”). It also serves to soften the message insomuch as South Park is a comedy and there’s nothing funny about Trayvon’s death…
Despite the over-the-top silliness of things like Cartman’s rap at the pep rally and everyone misunderstanding what Cartman means by a “contagion,” there are moments that are both hilarious and still pack a wallop, the most powerful of which is when Mr. Mackey lectures Token, “you let it go, he’ll let it go, and it’ll all be fine.” In a single line, the writers nail the condescending nature of those white fear-mongerers in the hours and days following Zimmerman acquittal. (It’s the same later when Cartman goads Token into a fist bump as a means to just put the whole incident behind them, as if it’s been unfair of Token to hold a grudge.)
For the record I thought it a mediocre episode.
Very funny episode, but fundamentally ignorant.
I did laugh at the recurring gag of the black guy on the airplane, the crashes, and how it ended.
You’d think Trey and Matt would relish the opportunity to take shots at the celebrities who overreacted to the verdict.
Exactly.
‘Black guy in the back.’ Then crash.
That was a great gag, along with the hysterical soccer mom babe who followed Cartman unconditionally.
‘Wait . . . what?’
Oh,man, so many funny moments. Agree with you, that would been the optimum South Park way to do this — skewer celebrities.
Episode was probably funnier if you sat through the shit-wreck that was WWZ. I found it funny but yeah ignorant. I like how Zimmerman was portrayed.
A reminder that The A.V. Club is populated by progtards
Water is wet?
But Cartman is now the Everyman Conservative – much as Archie Bunker in the 70s and Rush (King of the Rednecks) Limbaugh in the 90s.
It has been fun watching Cartman develop.
Archie Bunker was a Democrat.
Blue Collar New York Irish in the 70s were not conservatives….and still aren’t.
Or did you not catch that?
You fool. I am too smart for you. Archie Bunker supported both Nixon and Reagan in the 70s. He was no Democrat.
Neither is Fat Rush.
You fool. I am too smart for you.
*slow clap*
Cartman is an amoral, impulsive, manipulative, devious, brat. To ascribe political motivations to his actions is lunacy.
Arguing that Cartman is a conservative is like saying the Joker is a Republican.
Cartman is an amoral, impulsive, manipulative, devious, brat.
The precise traits that mark a conservative.
From Lee Atwater to Andrew Bratbitch.
Is the Joker a Republican too? How about Cobra Commander?
FOR THE LOVE OF G-D PUT THE PLUG BACK IN!
Because of the way Ohio’s law is written, a man who was legally declared dead in 1994 after disappearing in 1986 cannot have the declaration retracted, even though it turned out he’s not actually dead. We knew the undead would come for us eventually.
Separation of state and record keeping because they can’t even get that basic function right.
The wit and wisdom of Amanduh:
Why, it’s almost as if this type of response was crafted to to avoid responding to criticism of feminists, no matter what that criticism might be.
I DEMAND BLACK WOMEN, NOT JUST ANY OLD WOMEN, TO SIT ON THE BOARD. BECAUSE, SOMETHING ABOUT RACISM TOO…
WAIT = *OLD* BLACK WOMEN! DONT FORGET AGEISM, WHICH WE MUST FIGHT.
ALSO = DISABLED OLD BLACK WOMEN! BECAUSE OF BIAS AGAINST TEH CRIPPLES
WAIT!!!! = DISABLED OLD MIDGET BLACK WOMAN!!! BECAUSE SHORTISM.
WAIT@!!!!# = *GAY* DISABLED OLD BLACK MIDGET WOMAN!! RAINBOW IN THE HOUSE
That seems needlessly exclusive of, and thus hurtful to, trassexuals.
Check your privilege.
My dad was left-handed. I’m not, but it’s not a disability or anything, I just wasn’t born that way. Still, I can’t help but notice none of teh board members are left-handed either.
And *asshole* none has Tourrette’s, either!
OK, OLD BLACK LEFT-HANDED DISABLED TRANSEXUAL MIDGET WOMAN
BUT *NO IRISH*
….no deal.
That should be tras*.
Check your privilege.
How long will take for these quotas to be implemented and for Welch and Gillespie to defend them?
ALSO = EITHER WELCH OR GILLESPIE NEEDS TO BE A WOMAN NOW. FAIRNESS AND SHIT
We can call the new one “Chelsea”
Let’s not.
You want more feminist board members, investors, and executives? Start your own fucking company and run it the way you want.
Amen.
So what are Rand Paul and Amash’s approval ratings?
Hey, guys! Edward is back! Or is it Leftiti?
Um no. I’m no progtard.
Cool story, bro. Totally believe you.
Internet snark is no replacement for backing up baseless accusations.
[yawn]
I am recalling something someone once said about Fat, Drunk, and Stupid. I think it was about how fun it was.
You will notice, my dear GILMORE, that “Winston” never asked who any of these other handles were. Almost as if he knew exactly who I was talking about. Hmm…
I’ve been looking at these boards long enough to know some of the people you are talking about. I know about White Indian and American. Does that make me them too?
I think Edward used to swear a lot and bash Ron Paul and I have done neither in this thread.
I know about White Indian and American. Does that make me them too?
*squints suspiciously*
It’s Gladstone
I never paid his boring ass much attention. You might be right. But I might not be wrong, either. Hmm…
It’s the exact same posting style. Leaves the exact comments in every thread, usually in the form of a question implying that Reason (or Welch, Gillespie, etc.) supports (insert unlibertarian policy here) or that they’re hypocritical for not supporting whatever the majority of people polled support, posting “You know who else” jokes that aren’t that funny, etc. Exact same style and it’s really fucking tiresome.
“More than 70 percent of Americans who tried to sign up for health insurance through Affordable Care Act exchanges had problems attempting to do so.”
Wow, a nearly 30% success rate!
Just like how how our shitty economy is called the “new normal,” 30% will be called the “new 100%.”
Yay for mediocrity!
It’s the new United States. Our Catch Phrase: “The Bar is Lower.”
Alert James Cameron!
After I got home yesterday a volunteer knocked on my door to tell me about Obamacare. She seemed very disappointed at my lack of enthusiasm and inability to tell her the names and addresses of other people who need to hear the glories of this program.
And no, I didn’t go all angry libertarian on her. For one thing, she was very nice, standing there with her clipboard, for another, somehow they knew my name?
If someone comes to my home in an attempt to sell me on Obamacare, they are getting cussed the fuck out.
If ACA was a baseball player, he would have the best batting average ever!
Behold the smug of climate change alarmists
Brought to you by Organizing for Action and a few environmental groups.
That jerk probably wants the models to be predictive!
The very idea!
? Hello strawman my old friend. . . ?
They really have nothing but strawmen.
Damn you and your musical notes. I am jealous…
hold alt and type 14 on the num pad- it’s easy!
? ? Yay!I will now sing many a song. ? ?
Dude played Anne Hathaways asshole boyfriend in “The Devil ears Prada”. What kind of asshole would get pissed of that his super-hot girlfriend was working very hard during her top-shelf internship?
7 percent of americans had a member of the household try to sign up in the first week? That’s 21,000,000 people (assuming no double counting). CBO was expecting only 7,000,000 total for 2014 at a cost of $38,136,000,000 in subsidies. If that’s true, then the cost projections are going to be off by at least $76B for just the first year! Extrapolate that out over a decade and the estimates are off by a trillion or more. And that’s based on just the numbers from the first week. Woops.
Government programs, especially entitlements, never cost more than predicted. Never.
Plus, how many of those people were just trying to sign up our of curiosity?
I probably should have separated the snark from the serious better.
See below re the survey question.
Umm, I tried to sign up multiple times, on different computers. I just wanted to see what kind of coding monstrosity HHS had unleased.
This was based on survey data, not data from HHS’s computers. I’m assuming its only counting people who were actually trying to sign up, not just checking the site out for shits and giggles, but I could be wrong.
Here’s the survey question that resulted in the 7 percent figure:
“Since the [INSERT RESPONDENT’S STATE OF RESIDENCE] health insurance market began
operating on Tuesday, October 1, have you or has anyone in your household tried to sign up for health insurance coverage through this market?”
Behold an example.
It’s like Democratcare itself: no one has read it.
So doesn’t Detroit and the “shutdown” prove that the libertarian era is not coming?
Or Max? Or Morris?
They are all the same one-liner whiner.
You do know that Reason is not above criticism and being pessimistic does not make one a statist?
But it does make you a boring twatwaffle. Go on, keep saying the same thing over and over because you think it’s so clever, Edward. I’ll leave you alone. Or you can be a coward like your fellow traveler Tulpa and block me because I’m such a big meanie.
Is Detroit the new Somalia? THE CITY LIBERTARIANISM KILLED?
It makes perfect sense. Detroit was regulation free, just like Somalia. It’s a good thing a bunch of helpful progressives were willing to take control and make Detroit the proud city it is today.
Wouldn’t it be strangely awesome if Detroit pirates started raiding ships in Lake Erie? Snazzy zodiacs with Fast and Furious mounted guns on their way to raze Ashtabula…
Are these pirates aware of the boating and drinking laws? How about the waiting periods for firearms purchases? Will their Zodiacs be registered with the state of Michigan or documented with the Coast Guard? Will they have the appropriate number of flotation devices aboard? How about flares?
Is Detroit the new Somalia? THE CITY LIBERTARIANISM KILLED?
That wasn’t what I was saying. The GOP is dead in that city and the Dems have turned the city into a hellhole yet the voters haven’t rejected them and turned to the LP when many libertarians think they have a chance when the GOP falters. Seems they liked what shit the Dems have done to their city.
OMG PEOPLE STILL VOTE FOR “MOAR FREE SHIT”???
OMG PEOPLE STILL VOTE FOR “MOAR FREE SHIT”???
Seems they will keep voting for Free Shit until(?) the zombie invasion happens. Really bodes well for the future.

Nutjob Fundies to meet with Ted Cruz and Rand Paul.
A group of longtime Christian conservative activists are holding a private meeting Thursday in Washington to hear informal presentations from two of the most talked-about potential Republican presidential candidates: Senators Ted Cruz of Texas, and Rand Paul of Kentucky.
The hosts include Tony Perkins, the head of the Family Research Council, the former presidential candidate Gary Bauer, the conservative talk show host Janet Parshall and Richard Viguerie, the direct mail pioneer, along with a handful of others from the conservative movement. Mr. Fischer is the group’s chief organizer.

Nutjob Fundies to meet with Ted Cruz and Rand Paul
Because Obama never took money from anyone who was the slightest bit creepy.
Oh, wait.
Don’t even go there with Shrike.
He thinks any christian is a monster…well except if their last names are Clinton or Obama.
He use to call Baptists racists until I pointed out MLK was a Baptist.
Which nutjob fundies are we talking about now?
Why do you have to call people names, Mr. ButtPlug?
Jezebel’s take on the Ayn Rand muscle tee
Forever 21 is owned by a family of mental gymnasts who have found away to marry the “our purpose as humans is to give of ourselves to those in need in emulation of Christ” philosophy of Christianity with the “fuck you, pay me” ethos of conservatism. The fast fashion chain most recently advertised its top brass’s philosophy with an item it called the “Unstoppable Tee,” which contained a quote from Ayn Rand. You know, that bad writer that the worst hookup you ever had couldn’t stop talking about.
The $11.80 muscle tee, which was pulled from the online store this afternoon, featured the following quote by Ayn Rand, the mother of objectivism and dour but oddly sexy aunt of modern libertarianism.
Objectivism, the philosophy that the ideal society results from everyone abandoning charity and empathy and just focusing on selfishness and kicking ass, is an asshole factory (although it is to thank for the premise of the first Bioshock, so, uh, thanks, I guess). I read The Fountainhead when I was 16 and I was even more of an asshole than usual for a solid 3 weeks afterward. Do not let anyone get near Ayn Rand. She is a gateway drug to Ron Paul. She’s Paul Ryan’s college girlfriend. She’s dangerous.
And she’s, like, TOTALLY CEREAL GUYS! She read one of her books in high school!
I am not an Objectivist. I find the philosophy a bit simple minded and kind of dumb. Even I am amazed how profoundly ignorant progs are. Rand is one of the easiest philosophers to rag on there is. And progs are so stupid they can’t even do that right. They just make up shit like Rand rejected charity because they are apparently too stupid or too lazy to know what she actually said.
You know how it is. You go to college for your degree in Womyns’ Stydies and you have to read all this awful crap so you know all the proper trigger phrases and stuff. After all that work, reading something someone wrote after you graduate would be like, just some more reading, you know? So one of your friends tells you the proper things to think about the author and, so long as you stay within your circle of closed-minded friends, nothing else is necessary. Like, who’s going to question you? Non-feminists?! Those people don’t even count as people.
+1 Howard Zinn
She’s Paul Ryan’s college girlfriend.
You mean that black girl?
Does this qualify as racism?
Does this qualify as racism?
If she dated Paul Ryan then she is a race traitor so not.
But no one says “fuck you pay me” quite like the IRS.
Those are Federal Reserve Notes, so it’s only fair that we give as many of them back to the government as possible.
You know, that bad writer that the worst hookup you ever had couldn’t stop talking about.
It tells you how messed up these feminists are that they think that sentence is an insult to us and not to them.
Remember, these are ostensibly educated people:

I once read that if you go on a date with any guy who cites Atlas Shrugged as his favorite book you should run like the wind because it telegraphs that he’s an insufferable conservative douche. Kind of like if he says Infinite Jest you know he’s an insufferable faux-intellectual douche. 27 minutes ago
They are utterly ignorant. Shreek is a sock puppet. But his general level of ignorance and stupidity is typical for someone of his ilk. Shreek is what progs are.
Actually, I’d run from someone who cites Atals Shrugged as their favorite book. As interesting as the concept and ideas are, it’s horribly written. It’s not even Rand’s best novel, much less the best book ever written.
Yes yes FDR was a full blown racist but he was a product of his times…please don’t look behind the curtain containing 100 years of civil rights Republicans…now Ayn Rand a Russian immigrant who was specifically combating Stalinism and a devout pacifist…yeah ignore that time and place.
Also please ignore the fact that Ayn Rand was only women of her time to write and succeed in the realm political and and economic philosophy. It is vitally important for us modern women of Jezebel to ignore that.
“a devout pacifist”
Uh, where did you get that?
Ayn Rand and Vietnam

Many Americans Frustrated, Angry With Political Stalemate in Washington DC
How many of those Americans think the solution is for a Real TOP MAN to get shit done? I mean You Know Who Else was Angry with a Political Stalemate?
The last stop on the road to serfdom is a charismatic leader who can “get things done”.
Do one of your classic bits. Tell us to suck Ron Paul’s cock. Because that never became tired and stale.
Yes because what I wrote is exactly the equivalent of that.
You Know Who Else was Angry with a Political Stalemate
Queen Amidala?
Who?
Rick Reilly, who defended the Washington Redskins name last month, is rebuked by his Native American father-in-law who says he was misquoted
[Y]ou can imagine my dismay when I saw my name and words used to defend the racist Washington Redskins name. My son-in-law, ESPN’s Rick Reilly, completely misunderstood the conversation we had, quoting me as saying “the whole issue is so silly. The name just doesn’t bother me much. It’s an issue that shouldn’t be an issue, not with all the problems we’ve got in this country.”
But that’s not what I said.
What I actually said is that “it’s silly in this day and age that this should even be a battle — if the name offends someone, change it.” He failed to include my comments that the term “redskins” demeans Indians, andhistorically is insulting and offensive, and that I firmly believe the Washington Redskins should change their name.
When Rick’s article came out, it upset me to be portrayed as an “Uncle Tom” in support of this racial slur. I asked him to correct the record. He has not, so I must do it myself.
Thanksgiving dinner is going to be a little awkward this year in the Reilly household.
Native American father-in-law
It always has been before.
I’d say I hope this gets Rick Reilly fired, but I’m convinced he has some very incriminating pictures of somebody high up at ESPN.
if the name offends someone, change it.
That’s one idea, here’s another: Get some tougher feelings.
Stupid statement. I’m pretty sure every name will offend at least someone. Wasn’t Mario Cuomo offended by the Jets and Giants still calling themselves a New York team?
That was pretty dumb of Reilly.
FEMEN Takes Their Angry Titties to Spain
http://www.wwtdd.com/2013/10/f…..-to-spain/
Today was a wheelhouse issue for the angry titty protestors of FEMEN ? abortion rights. The never dull ladies hit the parliament in Madrid where they are discussing a curb on abortions in Spain. The shrieking Valkyres wrote down something that is supposed to mean Abortion Is Sacred in a language that didn’t seem to be English or Spanish. Their long locks covered much of their messages anyhow. Hey, even a pitbull Ukranian feminist wants to look pretty for the weekends. I’m starting to recognize many of these same girls from their tiny angry boobs. I’m guessing they’re not getting significant lockdown time for their protests. Not suggesting they be taken out back and shot, but maybe a good spanking from a strong father figure would serve them well. Yes, I’m now baiting Eastern bloc feminists.
Tit pics so NSF your milquetoast work environment.
The Fremen? I thought they were all on Arrakis.
And they worship the Kumquat Haagendasz.

From what I hear that pretty much describes SA Utopias.
Eh, the brunette’s weren’t bad.
What were they talking about again?
Apparently, small bosoms cause global warming. Or global slowing, the new thingee.
Hmmm. Plump asses don’t cause anything, do they? Because that would suck. (NSFW)
It depends on two things. What angular momentum science modeling shows and how much money you give me to study it.
Anthropogenic Global Slowing is a real problem. Don’t even thinking about Denying it.
Plump asses don’t cause anything, do they? Because that would suck.
Oh they contribute to a rise alright.
More than 70 percent of Americans who tried to sign up for health insurance through Affordable Care Act exchanges had problems attempting to do so.
1) So, can we see interviews with some of the 30 percent who had *no problem*?
2) Just wait until next month.
Some guy they’re interviewing on NPR – Tony Fredo (sp?), former communications director for Treasury under Bush – says the debt ceiling should be abolished – I mean, it used to be a way to talk for a couple days about the debt, but now that people are actually considering *not* engaging in extra borrowing it’s irresponsible.
Not early enough to praise BOOOOSH for being so much more reasonable than those Teahadist anarchists Cruz and Paul.
Is that Tony Fredo Corleone?
Does that make Michael the Democrats?
I don’t think so. Michael was competent, if deeply misguided.
From the Department of I Am Jack’s Total Lack of Surprise comes this gem.

Faye Arellano may not be alive today to tell of her terrifying attack by a knife-wielding man while protesting abortion this weekend in Toronto had it not been for the heroic efforts of an elderly “good Samaritan” who stood between her and her attacker.
“Josue Gauran, 60, is a husband and father, a factory worker, a Knight of Columbus, and the man who decided to help Arellano….
“Waving his knife, the attacker shouted racist words: “You Filipinos, you want this?” Gauran recounted….
“”I just did my part,” he said. “We are pro-life. We just want to save life. That’s what we are here for.””

Remember the 1st Amendment exception to the no-visitors policy in national parks? A Park Service explains the limitations of that policy:
“Michael Litterst, a National Park Service spokesman, said the First Amendment exception applies only to several Washington and Philadelphia parks related to the government and its history, “due to these parks’ long history of hosting First Amendment events, their expansive outdoor grounds, and their location in major metropolitan areas.”
“”You could not host a First Amendment rally at Chaco Culture, Grand Canyon, Manassas or any one of the 395 other parks where such activities are prohibited during the shutdown. They can be held only at the National Mall and Memorial Parks, the areas of the White House administered by the NPS, and Independence National Historical Park,” he said.”

These rules are totally coherent, non-discriminatory and make perfect sense, no matter what teabaggers might say.
